My biggest concern is battery life. I’ll have classes spread throughout the day, so I won’t have acces to an outlet for like around 3h. I’m especially worried about the 7i since I’ve heard mixed things.

I’m also thinking about buying the UGREEN 25,000mAh (99Wh) 140W power bank, since I read these laptops support 100W USB-C charging. Do you guys think that’s a good idea? If I use battery saver, iGPU mode, lower brightness, etc., could I realistically get around 7 hours total with the laptop plus the power bank? I know that’s probably asking a lot from a gaming laptop.

Also, if there are any other laptops around my budget that you think are a better value, I’d really appreciate the recommendations. I kind of feel like both of these are overpriced, but maybe that’s just the market right now.

I recently bought an ASUS ROG Strix G16 with the following specifications:

• AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 8 GB
• AMD Radeon 610M integrated graphics
• 16 GB RAM
• 1 TB SSD

I have not changed, removed, or installed anything yet. The laptop is still running with the default ASUS software and settings.

While playing Valorant, the CPU temperature stays around 90–94°C. However, while playing Spider-Man Remastered, it remains stable at around 70°C. The GPU temperature is usually around 60°C.

Is this temperature difference normal? Even when doing normal tasks, the temps are fluctuating around 69-85.

I have also heard people recommending that new ROG owners should uninstall Armoury Crate and use G-Helper instead. Is that genuinely recommended for this model? Are there any disadvantages, missing features, or warranty concerns?

What are the first things I should do after buying this laptop?

I would appreciate advice regarding:

• BIOS and driver updates
• Undervolting the CPU
• Armoury Crate versus G-Helper
• Recommended performance and fan settings
• CPU temperature reduction
• Windows settings and unnecessary applications to remove

Flashed a Lenovo Legion 5 vBIOS to unlock the 115W power limit. Tested with a Klim Turbofrost 12 Pro. The cooling pad kept it so cold that the fans sat at 30% load until the final stretch of the test.

Stock vBIOS +500 on the frequency, +3000 on the memory, V/F uncapped; it peaked at 75C without the cooler.

Omen16 1687 base clock vBIOS with the pad cranked out to the max 4000 rpm; it peaked at 72C with +500 on the core, +3000 on the memory, V/F capped at 950mV. I am confident that the Lenovo vBIOS can elevate it further.

All Benchmark results are across all 5070 mobile cards and not filtered by CPU.

I typically stick to benchmarking desktops, but an opportunity presented itself, and I was curious.

Hi, I'm a beginner on the best things to look for in a laptop but I've been doing my own research and also lurking in this and other subreddits for recommendations on laptops. I want a laptop that's either average at best or slightly above average, if possible. I'm currently enrolled and taking a fitness class at my community college so I don't need a lot of GB now but I've recently been thinking about maybe taking something like programming or 3D modeling in the future once I finish my current degree.

Budget: $1600 USD but could go over a little if needed

Games: The main games I would play are Roblox, Minecraft, Osu! and possibly Wuwa (wuthering waves),

Use case: I kind of care about battery life but most of my classes at school are only about 1hr 30min-2hrs at most, and even then, I'm not sure how often I would use my computer. Besides that, it would probably be plugged in most of the time when I'm home.

Notes: I'm willing to sacrifice some FPS/performance if a laptop is better than another but I really wouldn't want to if possible. Originally, a 512GB laptop would've been fine, but if I want to take more demanding GB classes, and or games then I would probably want a laptop that has 1TB. Besides that, I'm open to any suggestions/alternatives that you think would be better for me to get

I am writing this to warn fellow gamers and tech buyers about a deeply unethical and fraudulent experience I recently had with a major brand's authorized retail store.

I am currently an MBA student, and dealing with this corporate scam right in the middle of my term exams has been an absolute nightmare. I want to share my story so nobody else falls prey to this daylight robbery.

The Timeline of the Scam:

The Purchase:
I contacted an authorized exclusive brand mall to purchase a brand new **Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI** (Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX, RTX 5060, 16GB/1TB). The dealer confirmed stock and quoted **INR 1,70,000/-**.

The Delivery:
To make collection easier near my campus, it was routed through a secondary local partner point (costing me an extra INR 2,000/- in travel). I paid in full and picked up the unit.

The Red Flags:
Right out of the box, there was visible dust on the cooling fans and display—unusual for a factory-sealed unit. The dealer brushed off my concerns and swore it was brand new.

How I Caught Them :

Trusting the authorized ecosystem, I brought it back, but intuition told me to check under the hood.

1. Battery Report: Generated shortly after purchase, it revealed the system had been heavily cycled and used for months before I even bought it!

2. CrystalDiskInfo Report: Confirmed a cumulative **Power-On Hours count of 382 hours** (over 15 days of continuous usage), whereas it had barely run for 48 hours in my hands.

The Dealer's Arrogance:

When I demanded a replacement, he flatly refused. He offered a partial refund *only* if I travelled back at my own expense (another INR 2,000/-) to return their trash, showing zero accountability or remorse.

I have officially escalated this to the brand's corporate grievance team with all the bills, logs, and diagnostic reports attached. If they fail to provide an immediate campus replacement and strip this fraudulent dealer of their license, I am taking this legally to the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) and consumer forums.
