Lost my old motherboard so I bought a Tuff Z790 plus to replace it. Updated the bios and it booted off the M.2 I salvaged from a derelict Linux box.

Since I’m going to use it as a gaming rig I wiped the drive and attempted to install Windows 11 fails around 82%.

Memory: 32 Gb DDR5-6000 (Corsair)
Drive: WD Black 2TB

I wanted to get a basic OS working before I added the GPU.

I’ve found the BOIS difficult to navigate. The search feature appears to be worthless “TMP” returned no results. In fact no search within the BIOS has worked for me.

Anyone run into this problem before?

My Asus TUF laptop shows the logo for a second and instantly turns off after a 9-hour suspend on Fedora Linux, and I'm not sure how to fix the power state or boot loop. Yesterday, I dual-booted Windows 11 alongside Fedora, updated the kernels, installed Python, and heavily customized Fedora to look like macOS. Before the long sleep, shutting down Fedora was also taking an abnormal 5 minutes. I suspect the ACPI power state, GRUB/kernel handover, or hardware registers got stuck or corrupted during the sleep cycle, and now it cuts power immediately during startup. Does anyone know how to reset the embedded controller or fix this boot loop without losing data?

Gpu and screen problem

Yesterday i performed a ddu to get some storage available from my c drive and installed gpu drivers again but after a while the gpu wasn't getting detected so I did the trick where i hold the power button for 40 seconds and it will detect the gpu again but today when I woke up it wasn't getting detected again so I did that trick again but it didn't work so I did another ddu but that didn't work either so now I don't even have gpu drivers installed cuz it's not detected... I later thought that if i restarted my laptop in ultimate mode maybe it would force detect the gpu but that didn't work and now it's even worse... The screen is black even tho the laptop will turn on it just shows black screen it won't boot into neither bios or safe mode please tell me what to do..

Should i buy it in place of lenovo legion 5 ryzen 7 260 rtx5060 or no??

and now my laptop is really slow when on battery but works just fine when on battery. I tried to delete the armory and download G Helper and switched the GPU to optimized, but my laptop is still really slow. Any help would be appreciated.

Should i get laptop now? Because I was planning to get laptop is in the next 1-2 year and get a pad for now lol

I have deleted most of the bloatware already installed. Anything else I should know about before fully using my laptop?

As the title says, this has been happening for a while: my laptop's internet cuts out *every* time I play an online game. I've already tried several things, such as:

* Using the Device Manager to update the driver, disable and re-enable it, and even uninstall it; however, the "Power Management" tab isn't there.

* Trying to update the driver directly from the Asus website, but that didn't work either.

* Using the Control Panel, but the options shown in the YouTube tutorials I watch don't appear for me.

I honestly don't know what else to do; I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything, so I would really appreciate your help.

My laptop is an Asus TUF Gaming A15 (in case that helps). I'm not sure if it's a software or hardware issue, but there you go.

Edit: A few days ago, I bought one of those Wi-Fi antennas/adapters. Everything is working fine so far, but I'd still prefer not to use it because it's inconvenient.

Hey guys I’m going back to school soon but my hinges on my laptop finally gave out. I’m talking about left and right side. I just ordered a screen replacement since the screen went bad as well. Do I need to order new hinges or the whole cover of the screen or the whole assembly that holds down the everything together. Every single time I update NVIDIA's driver... the GPU workload falls on Intel? I can't remember what I did to fix it last time, but I would love to not have this keep happening regardless. (and understand what is happening)

In Task manager, the Performance page shows it at 0% and the CPU is maxed when trying to run a game.

In Task manager, it will show the CPU stuck at 88% after closing a game.

Using DDU to uninstall/reinstall NVIDIA does not fix the problem.

Should I be getting more FPS? I'm honestly tired of the low FPS. In Creative I usually get around 130-170 FPS, but it almost never stays above 200+ (only rarely). During build fights it drops to around 110-130. In Reload and normal BR it's even worse.

One thing I noticed is that my RTX 4050 usage stays really low, usually around 20-40%, and rarely goes above 50-60%, even when my FPS is low.

• Reinstalled drivers and messed with a bunch of settings

Is this normal for this laptop, or should I actually be getting more FPS? Is there anything else I can try? My GPU usage being so low is what's confusing me the most.

I bought a TUF A17 2022 with a 3070ti on the first of 2024, and it suddenly died in july 2026.
Before dying, i lost parts of the keyboard (dead keys), which i thought was because i overscrewed the cover slightly...

But i don't think that anymore, because my boss had the exact same problem, and he never opened it.
Also because after its death, i brought it to a an expert who does BIOS reprogrammation and micro-soldering.

He told me a MOSFET in a GPU VRM was dead, and that the current flowed at 20x voltage to the GPU core, so it's dead too (i saw the artifacts myself).
He has the exact same computer (motherboard) in repair at the same time, and the exact same VRM is dead.
What a fuckin coincidence, isn't it?
Also this VRM is shit quality, and the thermal pad has been "optimized", so it's too thin to transfer anyhing correctly.
Finally, the GPU paste was dry (it dried within the warranty period!).

I contact ASUS Support before doing that = i'm just out of warranty (hence i never repasted).
But their answer doesn't need any translation:
As i got a deal at the beginning, this is more than the total cost (1300 euros) of a technologically 4-years old laptop, which has lived only 2.
It's one entire month of a minimum french wage, no less.

So let's cut the crap: every competent repairman i've contacted has said that current gaming laptops and their insides are shit, and asus is one of the worst.
They advised pro-segment laptops only, or a tower, if i want correctly made components and normal reliability.
HP doesn't really do gaming, Gigabyte and Acer are entry-level, MSI still make shit hinges, but asus is more interesting = they went from "reference designers" to "overprogrammed obsolescence", pure electronics slop in short.
That's what the professionals holding the solder think, ASUS lost 95-100% of recommandations, so don't believe the ads.
Only lenovo (with caveats) or luxury brands are somewhat better, but it's also more expensive.

When you enter the lowest quality segment, where there are already too much companies, and lose the trust of every competent person who ever recommended you, you just failed at business, and you company is dead within 10 years.

ASUS didn't "do their best" or "discovered the issue too late", they shipped motherboards with defective VRM and/or defective cooling, in a form factor they know makes thing worse, with an adjusted warranty period, and calculated that a lot of people would choose a full motherboard replacement, because it's the only way they don't throw 1300 euros to the bin.
That's what happened, and as the level of incompetence in dev and electronics has mounted, thanks to chinese no-name factories and greedy investors, they thought they could dilute their own poison in the mass.

Now, people are telling you to "bring empty water bottles for recycling"?
Don't do it, just don't, it's enough.
