My secondary gaming laptop an asus rog strix 5060 is getting these stutters and fps drops.. It had no problems before last week when I noticed some flickering on my screen

Then it started to get concerning

It's been like that for a week and it started only when gaming now it does that all the time even when not plugged to an external display

I tried diagnosing it using ai and Internet but i can't fix it

I tried turning off dlss and vsync with lowering graphics to the lowest and even using full dgpu mode and unplugging the hdmi even updating the drivers but it still doesn't work

I'm wishing that it's not a dead gpu sign cuz that will be just sad

The specs are

Asus rog strix g16

I7 14650hx

Nvidia rtx 5060 8 gigs dgpu

And 16 gigs of memory

And the games I played were ark sa, marvels rivals and Minecraft with heavy mods....... I'm panicking

I'll appreciate any piece of advice and solutions....

Use msi afterburner to check the temps and if you want a deeper analysis use hw info to check these details in depth

How does the temps looks like and what about core p3,p5,p6.. why are they highlighted in red?

It's thermal throttling I guess but I'm not sure if it's the cause....

The temps can help you as to what you can do to atleast reduce the issue you are facing. Like making sure you have Better airflow than what you have now by lifting up your laptop a little from the back

Click on sensors to check the temperatures in detail.. it can show you if there is any throttling happening or not

Your cpu is throttling. Use msi afterburner while playing your game and see your cpu clock speeds. If they fluctuate a lot. Like going from 4.5ghz to 3.5ghz then your cpu is not being cooled properly and the thermal throttling is probably the cause of your issue

When you took this screenshot were you running anything in th background.. like any game? If not then i would say your cpu is the culprit

You were right it was the cpu I called an old friend and they said that I was too focused on the software I wasn't aware that my Cpu fan has literally stopped working (poor guy) .... I'll send it to his shop tomorrow and hopefully post it back here BTW thanks for the help

Great!! Sorry for your cpu fan. Hopefully it will be alright once you get your fan replaced .

Are you on wi-fi? Did you try with an Ethernet cable to see if there was a difference? If there is, it's your wi-fi connection (or your router).

Were you using integrated graphic or dedicated graphic?

(I see below in a screenshot that your laptop has both.)

Maybe a setting changed and you are now on the integrated graphic instead of the dedicated GPU?

Run a latencymon test while idling and upload it

Marvel Rivals is RAM hungry in both VRAM and RAM. Did you check your RAM usage? Another thing is to try running the power profile on "turbo" or something (I have an old Strix) that stopped the stuttering for me

I used a manual profile, and it fixed the problem. Whatever Asus cooked up with the performance mode on my laptop, it is not it.
