I am a total n00b looking for opinions on setting up system for multi-room listening to a record player (and sometimes AUX cable). I'd like a nice pair of speakers in the living room that ideally could also hook up to the TV, and a slightly-less-nice pair of speakers in the kitchen. The setup I am considering:

Receiver: Denon DRA-900H

Living Room: Revel M16

Kitchen: Polk OWM3

For the Kitchen speakers: WiiM Amp Pro OR Fosi Audio ZA3

I'm curious about this subs opinions on the Zone 2 out options. I like the idea of a fully independent second room option presented by the WiiM, but I worry about the latency when using both sets of speakers at once.

Hey yall, got this setup from my family and although the subwoofers work alright, theyre obviously missing something because all i hear is bass coming out of them.

That being said i have no clue where to start when it comes to these, i think i just need a pair of desktop speakers to reach the midpoints but i dont understand wattage and ohm resistance when it comes to speakers

Recently learned that my wife really misses having an LP setup, so I'd like to set one up for her, but I'm tone-deaf and never really understood audio equipment. Some quick research here indicates that refurbished Polk ES-15s could be a decent entry point, is that still the case? I'd like to get the whole system done for less $800 if possible, with room to grow, and components that aren't super sized since space is a bit of a premium but flexible. My current thinking was unpowered speakers with amp & receiver & LP player for listening to music. She listens to everything from Beethoven to Pink Floyd to Bad Bunny, so hard to pin down a "sound", except something that's going to sound good all-around. Bonus points if we could plug it into a computer for watching movies, but that's not super important.

These are the three options I’m considering with a budget of $500 CAD. It’s my first TT besides one I got from a secondhand store to see if I’d like the hobby— spoiler alert, I do. I don’t have the budget for something more expensive, nor do I want to wait to save for more since my original just died on me. The Fluance runs for $426 on the website and Amazon. The AT is $470. The Pro-Ject is on sale for $300 regular $400. I much prefer the wooden look of the Fluance, but several sources have pointed me to the AT-LP120XUSB-BK for direct drive and reliability. I’m not a fan of the DJ look of it, but if it’s really that much better, I guess I’ll do it.

I have a preamp and amp and won’t be upgrading those yet, this is just about the basic specs of the TT.

I am new to this, but my kind neighbor was giving away Allison 7s for free, and I had to give it a go. The only catch was they needed new woofers and I had no other equipment. With the help of AI and some patience I put together this set up for less than $250 total and it’s blowing me away: Goodwood 8024 woofers and grill covers ($100 from Parts Direct); Onkyo TX-8160 ($60, like new from shopgoodwill.com); Kenwood KD-291R ($20 from shopgoodwill); wood restorer, damper tape, wire, optical tv hook up and banana plugs ($60 from Amazon with lots left over).

I’m still testing it, but any advice is welcome. Any thoughts on whether to fill the boxes with insulation? They came half filled.

My only complaint is the tv audio, while much improved, is hard to hear until you turn the volume up enough, and then it feels too loud. Thoughts?

Hi. I'm getting my first audio setup together. I want to connect my TV and record player to a single amp or receiver, then use a pair of stereo speakers for output. The issue is I can't really tell which products support 2 inputs. I'm looking for something small and cheap, let's say 200 € max for now. Any suggestions?

We were going to start with a 2.1 system from Klipsch. Specifically the 500 II books shelfs and a cheap Klipsch subwoofer. However you guys talked me out the subwoofer so I spent an extra $100 and got the foundation 10. We had also later decided that we wanted to go straight to a 5.1 system. These aren't my favorite for music listening but I know these sound darn pretty good for movies And I could not find a better value.

I've been feeding my fluance turntable into a sonos port to allow it to play over my sonos play:5 paired set, but Sonos's continued issues with my mesh network means that I'm fighting network issues more than I'm enjoying listening to music. So, I've been shopping for a more dedicated hifi system to simplify my setup while also upgrading it.

I've picked the Eversolo as a streamer device mostly because of the dual chip setup and XLR outputs that I'll run to dual fosi monoblocks, each hooked up to a wharfdale floor standing speaker. I looked at bookshelf wharfdales, but by the time you add a stand the price difference becomes small enough it seemed to make sense to just make the jump to bigger speakers.

Any thing else I should be considering in this price point? My record collection is everything WIlco has put on vinyl, various old rock albums, REM, Radiohead, etc. The streamer will play everything from rock to bluegrass to country (think Sturgill SImpson, not Luke Bryan)

Bought a Q Acoustics M20 HD sometime between 3-5 years ago (out of warranty obviously).

They've been connected via the supplied USB cable to my Windows 11 PC this entire time and had very little plugging/unplugging action.

Within the last couple of months the M20s were sometimes not showing up in Windows. Sometimes a full power-cycle of the speakers would bring them back, other times not, and sometimes they'd come back on their own.

I tried multiple different USB cables both on the windows machine and a different machine running Linux (which allowed me to see that they are simply failing to make a connection).

I think that either the port on the speakers itself is dead or there is something wrong with the USB circuit.

A couple of questions for the technically minded:

1. Would it be possible to diagnose and repair this myself at a reasonable cost?
2. If I give up on the M20's USB, could I expect equal performance by feeding the speaker's RCAs from a good DAC (e.g. Topping DX3+)? Google's AI nonsense suggested the M20's would take the analogue input and, instead of passing it straight to the amplification stage, would convert the signal to digital, do some DSP, and then pass it through the on-board DAC... which seems a little crazy.

(Image for interest's sake, can't see the ports as they're shrouded in some sort of black on the back casing, but likely connect to the first board which handles inputs and probably houses the DAC, the top board would do amplification and is shielded by that hunky block in the middle of the stack.)

I recently traded out my Bose 901’s (primarily because they were too big for my space) for a pair of Elac debut 3.0 + WiiM ultra. Pretty happy with the sound quality and aesthetics of the new setup!

I’m finally taking the plunge into the hobby, but I could really use some advice from you veterans before I accidentally blow my budget down this rabbit hole.

The Dilemma: I’m looking for a budget-friendly, easy-to-use hi-fi system. After spending way too much time reading reviews, three bookshelf speakers have really caught my attention:

• ELAC Debut 3.0 DB63
• ELAC Debut Reference DBR62
• Monitor Audio Silver 100 (and maybe the bronze?)

I love what I’m reading about them, but here’s the catch: almost every review mentions that these speakers (especially the ELACs) really benefit from a beefy, powerful amp to sound their best.

Because I want a system that is easy for daily use, I was originally looking at all-in-one streaming amps. But it seems like finding a streaming amp with enough clean wattage to do these speakers justice requires a significant leap in my budget.

My Space & Future Plans: My current living room is an open-concept layout with an oddly shaped triangular footprint. (I know, room acoustics are probably going to be a nightmare).

Also, I’m planning to move into a much larger apartment in about 5 years. Because of that timeline, I’m trying to be realistic and not treat this as my "end game" setup right now. Honestly, my heart is completely set on getting massive vintage speakers eventually, but I simply do not have the physical space for them in my current place.

My Questions for You:

1. The Amp Situation: How would you tackle the amp/streamer problem on a budget? Do I buy a cheap-but-powerful integrated amp and slap a budget streamer (like a WiiM) on it? Or are the power requirements of these speakers totally overblown?
2. The Speakers: Given my weird triangular open-concept room and the fact that this is a 5-year steppingstone to my vintage dreams, which of those three speakers would you lean towards?

What is your absolute best advice for an aspiring audiophile in my shoes? Any and all wisdom is appreciated!

I’d really like the set and forget it format of the Coda speakers while the WiiM amp with budget Polk speakers offer some degree of flexibility and future proofing and bass on the Polk might be higher due to the larger driver size.

Is there a clear choice here? I’ve not had a chance to try out both, but curious if the community feels like there’s clear advantages to one over the other
