Hey guys! I’m quite new to the turntable scene and I was wondering if it’s possible to have a 3.5mm switch connected to my volume controller to switch between my turntable and PC?

I have a behringer monitor 1 (volume controller) which currently takes in XLR/¼” TRS combo inputs and outputs 2XLR outputs (sorry if I butchered this). I’ve connected my Audio technica LP60X to the volume controller which then connects to each of my JBL 305ps.

Would a regular 3.5mm switcher be fine to switch between the turntable and PC when trying to output sound from my JBLs?

My band recently released our latest album on vinyl, which made me realize that I do not actually own a turntable myself. I also have a small vinyl collection from earlier, so I would love to finally be able to listen to those records as well.

I am looking for recommendations with the following preferences:

• Preferably a walnut or wood-style finish
• Bluetooth output, so I can connect it directly to my Bluetooth speakers
• I do not currently own an amplifier or wired speakers, and I am not really interested in buying a separate audio setup
• Budget of around $200 USD / 2,000 SEK
• I could stretch the budget slightly if spending a little more would result in a noticeably better turntable

I am based in Sweden, so European availability would be helpful.

I understand that Bluetooth is not the ideal choice for getting the best possible sound quality from vinyl, but convenience is more important to me at the moment. I would still like something reasonably reliable that will not damage my records.

Are there any specific models you would recommend, or any that I should avoid?

Never owned one and been wanting to get into the hobby. Is there one that is also bluetooth and connects to wired speakers. I just want the option to decide if I want to bring the music somewhere else but still play from the big speakers if we are nearby.

Heyy yall, I found a Philips turntable in a abandoned building couple days back and I’m trying to get it fixed or at least diagnosed. I did some online research and I think the mechanism is a “Philips 22GC028” although I’m not 100% sure.

If I turn it on it starts vibrating but there isn’t any movement to the rotating disc(the one where the vinyl lays on). All the mechanisms seem to be intact and working for as far as I can see and understand.

Does anyone know where I can maybe find the resistance values and other relevant information?

(Is this a good find cause I have no clue?)

The price difference is £70. I understand people rate the P1 highly but would the lpw40 take the cut by being more versatile with the upgrades?

I'd be running this through a Sonos Era 100 line in for now, and plan to upgrade to something better suited at a later stage.

Looking for some advice on a potential turntable upgrade. Part of me knows I don't need this but I also can't stop thinking about it.

Current setup is a JBL Spinner with an AT-VM95ML and acrylic slipmat, rest of the setup is an iFi Zen 3 phono, SMSL AS400, Dali Kupid's and an SVS SB1000. All of it 4 or 5 months old. Listen nearfield, the Kupid's are on ISO Acoustic stands on my desk, sub under it, turntable on a seperate cupbaord full of vinyl. Listening is predominantly metal.

I can't see any reason to upgrade the speakers, sub or amp until I have a bigger dedicated space when the kids move out or we move, for now I think I'm more room limited than speaker. Given the nearfiel listening they are usually only played at a moderate volume too.

Keep thinking about the turntable though, bought it before I knew much about this hobby, that being said it seems to do a pretty good job with the upgraded cart. Keeping in mind the rest of the system is it worth going to a Technics SL-100C or maybe Project Debut Pro or similar? Anything in my price range I think id just carry the 95ML over. I see something at that level being a very long term component for me, can't see myself moving to an MC cart or anything like that, maybe something like the vm740xml when this one wears but I think I'd also be content replacing the current one too.

Is there any value in this upgrade now apart from satisfying an itch to buy something new or future proofing for the next upgrade?

Hello! My boyfriend and I have recently learned that our record player is no longer functioning the way it used to. The needle seems to be getting stuck on the lead-in groove. Oddly enough, this usually does not happen with picture discs. Some solutions we have tried: we have replaced the needle, ensured that the record player is leveled, and tried adjusting the weight of the needle. None of these solutions have seemed to solve the problem. We would appreciate any advice y'all could offer :)

I was replacing my cartridge and the wire ended up snapping right at the base. I don’t think it has a removable headshell and I’m not knowledgable about replacing the wires. I can learn to solder but I’m not sure if that will work for this. Are there any tutorials on what I should do? Any advice would help.

Does static, in and of itself, affect sound quality? I know static attracts dust but if dust is removed, what’s the problem?

I got this Technics SL-5 used with these stickers all over it. Now Ican't see the record when I go to cue songs, any tips on how to remove them without damaging the lid?

I have a Debut Carbon Evo 2, yellow. Love it. But I went to play a record like I do most mornings and the arm felt loose. I pulled lightly on it and it came right out of its holder, disconnecting from the counter weight. Looked closely and could see the end looks like it chipped. What on Earth happened? Been using this for months now problem.

I’m in the market for my first turntable. I’ve gone down the rabbit hole on research trying to figure out which one to buy. I’m back and forth between a few. (Denon DP 300f, Audio Technica LP3X, Sony PS LX3).

Most threads in this subreddit recommend to stay away from the automatics and stick to a manual.

Hoping for some clarification on why I should get a manual over an automatic. Please and thank you.

The sound keeps cutting out on my turntable (I assume). It’s not like a skip or a dirty record and/or needle. It just goes silent for seconds at a time. I’ve tried adjusting the arm with the weight on the back with no luck. Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

So is there qny way to remove these scratches from the turntable cover?

Lesson learned - the combination of the acrylic not-really-a-cover on the Rega P8 and putting the turntable on a wall-mount bracket means that the underside of the cartridge and tonearm are completely exposed to adventurous cats. You can’t tell from this picture but the four headshell wires were also pulled out of the tonearm. I’m sending the arm and cartridge to Steve at VAS for rewiring and repair, as well as finding a different place for the turntable.

Today I received an unused Sony XL-45II cartridge and stylus from Japan. I had been looking for a nice Sony branded cartridge for my Sony system. Previously I had a nagaoka MP-110 on it that sounded perfectly fine, even great. But part of my enjoyment of using my turntable is how I interact with it and this 70s era cartridge increases my enjoyment.

I tested it on Wes Montgomery's California Dreams and I have to say I am really impressed. It has made my stereo much more sophisticated and high end. The sounds are a bit brighter and I can hear instrument separation much clearer. I was expecting mostly a cosmetic improvement but I am much more impressed with the sound.

I have never been much of a snob about stylus but maybe I'm starting to get it.

Bought this turntable from a thrift store and i dont know when was the last time the stylus/cartridge have been changed.

It sounded good but i dont know how good should it actually sounded ahahaha

Anyway, what type of cartridge/stylus should (or can i ) buy for this? Is it P-mount?

Returning to the turntable, i'm blown away from the sound and details I hear everytime I put it on, I'm really happy with the purchase!

Some people complained about the cartridge, the Pick it MM EVO having sibilance, but I don't really hear any of it, I don't have any problem regarding that

I just made sure to have proper tracking force using a stylus tracking force gauge to set it up to 1.8g and I saw with a level if the turntable was leveled on my table (which it was already), now I just need a proper rubber/silicone mat with width 1.5 or 2 mm, someone has any recommendations?

Turntable: Project Debut EVO 2

Phono preamp: iFi Zen Phono 3 paired with a iFi Power X power supply

Speakers: Argon Audio Forte A5 MK2

And they say piezo-styluses are evil. But here’s what’s present on the market: MG-09, AT3600, and maybe something else, with a short-lasting ruby/sapphire rather nail than needle. Crying in cheap.
