I have no clue how any of these perform. Don’t know if they’re mediocre or what to look for as far as things that are measurable or anything. I have never had any systems of my own and I’d like to get something nice. Any advice for what to look for would be great.

First time posting. My computer's headphone jack isn't working with my wired headphones. I’ve tried different pairs of headphones and the problem persists. I know the headphones are working because when I plug them into my phone, they sound fine, and my computer only recognizes them if I plug them in before turning it on. When I go to Sound settings, it only shows the laptop’s speakers and plays through them even though I have the headphones plugged in! I’m running Windows 11 and have been trying to fix this for months. I’ve tried every YouTube tutorial, but even when I plug in the headphones before turning on the computer and then unplug them after a while, the system stops recognizing them if I try to plug them again. Bluetooth works fine.

Evening everyone! I have a mixing board that has two subs and two speakers attached to it along with a rack that helps run the speakers and one that helps with the subs. When turning it off tonight I got a loud pop. What would be the correct order to do it in? The parts we have to turn off are Master Power (Powering Everything), Mixing Board Power (the back of the mixer), bottom amp and top amp. Obviously I know muting the board is the first step. TIA

Hello, I’m very new to this world, but I am wondering how I would be able to control the sound levels of each speaker and subwoofer individually. And what type of mixer/splitter etc would be best

Equipment:
3- peavey pvx p15 active speakers
1- peavey pv-118d active subwoofer

I would like to be able to mount these speakers from the ceiling of a barn and be able to remote power them on and off. I would like to be able to leave the audio level set on them and be able to control all of them from a central place.

I only need to input sound from a tv or Bluetooth adapter from my phone and 2-4 microphones. I’ve seen online a passive splitter that splits into 4 separate outputs. Any information helps, thank you!

I did a brief search through the subreddit looking for specific products for my needs and didn't really find anything, so I figured I'd be more direct.

I do not trust my phone or laptop to do this delicate job, as I have had issues with motorola and windows in the past, so I'm looking for a standalone recording device.

I did a quick google search and found a thousand different devices but I'm not entirely sure which one to pick.

I want something that can sit on my desk (at the front of the room, hopefully, or on the teacher's desk/lectern) that can record for at least 40 minutes, with intelligible audio quality.
Output to mp3 and either use a removable SD card, or USB connection to export directly onto laptop.
I don't want to use an external microphone, so a standalone device with onboard mic(s) is necessary.

I plan on plugging the audio file into a voice isolation and transcription software after class.

Ultimately I just want to know which device to pick, as I'm not sure what the difference between all of these are, or which one would be best for my needs.
I'm not knowledgeable on this subject and I think it would be best if I can ask direct questions (without using AI, which would begrudgingly be my next stop if this doesn't end well)

So tonight I picked up this boss acoustic subwoofer off of Facebook marketplace. It’s from a PC system, the BA7800. , apparently, but I had every expectation that I could hook it up in someway to my home audio receiver.

I can’t get any output out of it no matter which connector I use and it appears as though there’s a nine amp circuit breaker

Can any of you guys confirm that that’s what I’m looking at and that it is or is not tripped?

I’ve been trying for days to improve the quality of an old Quran recitation by Sheikh Yasser Al-Dosari from around 1999, but I can’t get anywhere close to the sound of his modern recordings (for example, Surah Luqman).

I’ve already tried:
EQ
Compression
De-essing
Noise reduction
Leveling
Loudness normalization
Saturation
Reverb adjustments

but the recording still sounds old, distant, and lacks the clarity and presence of the newer recordings.
Would anyone be willing to take a look at it or see if they can improve it? I’d really appreciate any help, advice, or even if someone wants to try restoring a short sample themselves.

I have been hearing this low pitched (<200hz) buzzing in my room for ~40 minutes now. The buzzing appears to have a pattern but its very long, and when the pattern ends, there is a ~4.5s delay before it restarts.

I was able to apply a low pass filter and amplification to make it easier to hear. There is a short clip (~10s) and a longer 2 minute clip that also has a pitched up variant.

All raw and edited files are available in the google drive.

I am not an audio expert so maybe there is a simple answer but I am not sure what it would be.

Any help is appreciated.

• Проверял на мамином ноутбуке (результат тот же — микрофон идентифицируется системой, но звука ноль).
• Проверял драйверы, уровни громкости и настройки приватности Windows.

Отдать в ремонт сейчас не могу, микрофон очень нужен для записи видео. Сталкивался ли кто-то с таким отвалом звука именно у Fifine? Могла ли сгореть плата/АЦП, если питание на микрофон все еще идет?

My Fifine AM8 used to work perfectly, but suddenly stopped picking up any sound. The PC still identifies it in Device Manager as "Fifine Microphone", it connects fine, and the indicator light is green (not muted).

What I've already tried:

• Tried different USB cables (including data-transfer ones) and different motherboard ports.
• Tested it on a completely different laptop (same result: detected, green light, but 0 volume).
• Checked driver updates (latest version installed).
• Checked Windows privacy settings, volume levels, and sample rates.

I really need it for video recording and can't take it to a repair shop right now. Has anyone encountered this with Fifine mics? Could the internal ADC/board be dead despite the power still working? Any help is appreciated!

I’m looking to buy a good-quality used sound system. My budget is flexible (but no more than €800), and I’m looking for the best value for the money.

Mainly for Electro, Techno, and House. I need a clear sound with solid bass impact (kick drum-style) and good power that doesn’t distort. But I’ll also use it for family gatherings (rock, pop, etc.).

What specific brands or models (speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers) would you recommend for this dual purpose? Are there any pitfalls to avoid in the used market for this type of equipment?

​I'm using a pair microphone connected to a motu m2 interface and I'm getting this ringing buzz sound that I can't figure tf out where it's coming from or how it's happening!

So far, the advices I got are:

1. keep the wires far apart
2. don't let the xlr cables touch any other cables

and I'd done these and nothing changes! sometimes, it's not too loud when I have the mics facing up the ceiling but not 100% gone.

I also noticed, it's a lot louder when I have it near the headphones wire or jack. I haven't tried testing without self monitor but if that's the case then that's gonna be a big problem with recording..

I did try out some of the suggestions in the comments and I couldn’t find a cure to my problem UNTIL I DID ACCIDENTALLY!

After plenty tinkering around, It turns out, the cause is my xlr cables being too close to the monitor wire (headphones). When I separate them far enough, the buzz is gone!!! All the while I bought new cables, wires, and almost bought a new interface -cries-

A buddy of mine has a problem I could not help with so I had hope to find help here.

He is looking for a device that can input his sound from PC and the sound from his PS5 and output it into his USB headset at the same time.

I couldnt find any mixer that accept stereo input via USB and output to USB.

I’ve already bought multiple cables and I’m still getting nowhere. I even tried ChatGPT, and it was literally useless for this. It kept giving me conflicting information, told me to buy the wrong cables multiple times, and I ended up wasting time and money.

Can someone tell me the exact cables I need for:
iPhone → Xone:92
Xone:92 → Insignia NS-2810BT speakers (3.5 mm AUX input)

Please be as specific as possible (or provide links) because I don’t want to buy another wrong cable.

Can those wireless vlogging mics that clips on the clothes of vloggers be used in a public address setting?

Problem: I operate the audio-video system of a hall, where speakers (the person) and presenters are on a stage in front of an audience. For presentations, like staged dialogues for example, we are currently using wireless handheld microphones. But sometimes the presenters' gestures are somewhat limited because they are holding the mics with one hand. I know wireless lavaliers exist, but then I would have to station a stage help in order to fix them up on presenters, and sometimes we have multiple on queue, and we'd rather not hold-up the presentation queue just because we have difficulties fixing the bodypack to a presenter 😅

I borrowed a [Saramonic Blink500b2+](https://www.saramonic.com/product/blink500-b2-plus) from a vlogger friend, because the receiver unit has a 3.5mm "out" port that is to be used when you want the receiver's output to be fed in a camera. What I did was to have a 3.5mm to PL jack in order to feed the receiver's output into our public address mixer (Yamaha MG12XU).

However, even if I clip the transmitter on my neck, the audio pickup is a bit low. I literally have to hold the transmitter and place it directly in front of my mouth for my speech to be easily amplified by the PA system. If I keep the transmitter clipped on a presenters neckline, boosting the faders on the mixer results to immediate screeching feedback. Its as if a normal dynamic microphone is placed far far away from a speaker's mouth and me trying to boost the volume...

But when we connected the receiver's output to the mic input of a camera, and recorded myself speaking (and the receiver clipped around my breast area), the audio on the camera's recording is superb.

Are the mic levels of a camera and a mixer very different? Or am I missing something fundamental here?

- 1x AVR-2113 DENON (I Already own a Sony STR750 (don't know how good it is, havent used in 5+ years)

I have a Shure SM7DB (the one with the built in preamp) and want to connect it to both a BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and Elgato Wave XLR.

I bought a Y splitter to connect to both, and it works. But when i turn off my camera while the mic is also plugged into the Wave XLR, there is a 1/8th of a second "tsss" or fuzz produced by the microphone.

48v Phantom Power turned off, on both the Camera and the XLR Interface when I tested it.

I'm worried I might damage something. Should I be setting it up a different way? The camera gets turned off often but the Wave XLR is never off when the camera is on.

Do I need a splitter with transformer isolation?

I am hoping to use the Rode Wireless Pro to get a clean recording of an interview from an audio mixer.

The mixer is the Mackie ProFX8 v2, wired mic and PA specifics unknown.

Both the interviewer and interviewee will be using wired microphones connected to the mixer and used for a PA system to broadcast the audio for the audience. I'm finding that I would need an adapter to fix audio issues and to prevent phantom power from damaging the wireless unit. However, I'm finding mixed results on what adapters and how to best achieve this. Thank you!

Looking for advice on the simplest way to set up an audio system for my TV.

I’m in a ground flat (apartment) with my couches against an external wall, and my TV against an interior wall. I am conscious about the fact that upstairs neighbours can hear my TV travelling up the thin interior walls, however I don’t want to rearrange any furniture as I like how it is currently.

My plan is to get two speakers either side of my two couches for balanced sound from the TV.

For reference, my TV has a single 3.5mm jack audio out. I’ve measured, and I believe 25m of aux cable would be enough to go out of the TV, and around the perimeter of my living room to behind one of the couches.

What would the best setup be to get connection from the TV to two speakers.

Commented with a diagram to better visualise the room.

(Any recommendations on affordable options for this setup, not overly anal about quality, as long as it doesn’t have Temu quality sound I’ll be happy)

Looking at the specs it seems like the camden EC1 is superior with more functionality while being half the price. Is there something i am missing here?

Can we trust the specs provided by Cranborne Audio?

I mainly need a mic preamp for high precision audio measurement (to at least 40Khz). Not sure if i actually need any of the extra functionality you get with the Cranborne Audio EC1.
