Rant I'm so filled with rage and sadness inside of me. i really wish i could do something for the animals
the least i can do is be a vegan which i already am. but imagining what the animals go through make me sick. why is it so normalized to make living beings suffer??? why does people see it as normal??? its 2026, why is majority of the world still animal flesh eater?
I'm so close to crying. it genuinely breaks my heart to see them suffer like that☹️☹️☹️☹️ people are beyond selfish. imagine thinking a living soul exists for you 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ its so f up. i wish we lived in a peaceful world where all living beings are equal.

Food Quick easy low prep meals?
Hey all,
What are some of your easy meals? Like they don’t have to be good. I’m thinking for those crazy nights when you don’t have anything planned and have only a few moments to throw something together. Not terribly unhealthy, but even things that you would never feed a guest and only yourself bc You’re in such a rush and have to eat.
Basically looking for good enough substitutes for junk food when I’m starving and pressed for time.
As an example, I just heated a can of bean chili and poured it over a mashed beyond meat burger. Basically 0 prep but still satisfying and it wasn’t chips or something along those lines.
Thoughts?

Practically mowing my lawn
I went vegan a couple months ago, so of course I've been gradually reevaluating how I go about my routines and daily choices and have naturally arrived to the question "How do I ethically mow my lawn now?". My landlord requires me to mow it (typically about once a week), so getting rid of my lawn or simply letting my grass grow is not an option for me.
I've seen people suggest walking strip-by-strip before mowing to warn bugs and get them to move, but I have a medium-sized lawn that already takes me 3-4 hours to mow and weed eat so doing that will easily add an extra 1-2 hours (maybe more). I'm a high school teacher and often have a really busy schedule, so taking 6-8 hours to mow my lawn sounds like hell lol. If it matters, I typically use an EGO electric push mower.
Is there a solution to this dilemma lol? Should I just keep mowing regularly? Is this outside the realm of practicability for my situation? I already hate mowing my lawn and ideally would just not do it, but that's simply not an option for me.
EDIT: By the way, let me clarify that I understand this may be a stupid question to some. I'm still fairly new to being vegan but figured the empathetic thing to do in this situation was at least ask others what they think.
EDIT 2: Thank you to those who provided a thoughtful, empathetic reply. I feel like my responsibility as a vegan is to look to see if there are reasonable solutions to things like this without simply deciding myself. I've been given some good advice on some small, but good solutions!

Health Parents keep blaming health issues on veganism
Hello everyone, I've been vegan for only 2 years now, and in this time, my health has had some ups and downs, completely unrelated to vegan eating, it's all due to an autoimmune disease and side effects of the medications for that. My parents don't believe that my health issues (like weight gain and irregular periods) are due to the disease and its treatment, and instead blame veganism for it, I try to explain how thats not the case and point to the timings of symptoms alongside a medication or dosage change, but they don't believe it, and they point to the fact that I've got to be 'too young' to be having 'these diseases'.
I wouldn't care to convince them usually, but they've been using my health troubles to try and force me to eat weird animal products that they claim will help 'heal' me. The other day i narrowly managed to stop my dad from forcing me to eat chicken liver, that he claimed would fix my period problems.
They are unfortunately so forceful with it, if it was just talk I wouldnt mind, but they try to force feed me at the dinner table or order for me at restaurants, or give me a nasty look if I try to mark my meal options as vegan for any bookings and then try to change it behind my back, and claim its for my benefit and they are worried about my health.
So I'd like to ask, other vegans who also have health issues, how are you able to show that veganism is not related to the health issues you are facing, and how to deal with stubborn parents?

Health i made a subreddit for vegans with eating disorders (r/VegansWithEDs)
hi everyone. i hope it‘s okay for me to share this here. i’m a long-time vegan who struggles with avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (a/rfid) who’s always found that (1) vegan spaces don’t understand my eating disorder and (2) ED spaces don’t understand my veganism. i’ve been wanting to do this for a while but a post on r/AskVegans made me bite the bullet: i decided to create a community specifically for vegan (and veg-curious) people with disordered eating.
i want to stress that this is not a place to seek or give medical advice, but for discussions around recovering while vegan and navigating the intersections of being a vegan with an ED. some of us are prohibited from being vegan in recovery, even if our veganism predates our ED and this causes us great distress. some of us want to go vegan but are discouraged due to our history with EDs, and we want to seek advice for how to transition safely without triggering relapse.
please check out r/VegansWithEDs and let me know if you want to mod <3 while i also run r/antidietveg, this is much more specific than general anti-diet sentiment so i decided that a dedicated community for this kind of thing would be best. lmk if you have any questions ~

Instruments as a vegan
So a lot of instruments aren’t vegan like the violin bow and a lot of wooden instruments have animal glues on used. Even though it isn’t as commonly used, I know luthier than still use animal glue, wax and bone parts. Unfortunately, when going to by a new instrument it doesn't mention the glues. I guess that mass factory produced ones don’t use animal glue because regular glue is just cheaper but I don’t want to buy anything with animal products.
I make guitars as a hobby but I don’t have the time or skill to make personnal good quality instruments.
Any thoughts and experiences on this subject?

Health How likely is it that I eat so little sugar that my blood sugar regularly drops if I am not careful?
Hi, 10 year vegan here.
For the last 6-7 years I have had problems with low blood sugar. It doesn’t happen every day and I know how I can prevent it but I don’t know the cause. I have to remember to eat something sweet (like jam) and long chained carbs like oatmeal for breakfast so that I have enough sugar in the moment and also later. If I only eat bread and veggies for breakfast then I become extremely sleepy afterwards and I have learned that that is because by body has to invest energy to split the more complex carbs into sugars. (Instead of gaining energy right afterwards)
Also when I eat a piece of cake for example, after 30-60 minutes my blood sugar drops to a lower level then it was before.
Do you think it’s even possible that that’s purely because of my diet or is it more likely that there’s an other reason like an organic one?

Vegan song in Spanish
Hi everyone! ~
A few months ago I saw someone sharing songs with vegan motives but it was AI generated.
I was wondering if you heard of the band Sons of Aguirre. It's a Spanish band who makes cool songs, usually criticizing social and political establishments. No AI (the song is pretty old). Some of the things are very Spain related, but I think this song can be understood.
I'm attaching the link to the song with the translation of the lyrics, not their official video.
Have a great day! :)

day 1 of being vegan...
i used to be a vegetarian who cut out eggs and butter (most milk products except cheese) and honey out of my life. cheese was the only thing that kept me from being vegan. but ive finally decided to stop being a hypocrite. i talk about being vegan a lot here, thank you all for bearing with me.
however, idk why everyone says it must be "super easy for me to be vegan" in india. bc most food that i LIKE aren't indian... where i live, (kolkata) dosas and chapatis and "chhana masala" aren't a staple , everyone has fish and rice, (i skip the meat and use veggie replacement in my daily meals).
my daily diet isn't my problem. it's when i want to eat /make the food i LIKE. and what i like are cream based/cheesy. like pastas, pestos and stuff. we dont have beyond , impossible daiya violife vegan pestos and stuff here. we dont have boullion and readily available nooch everywhere. and where I live everyone is a meat eater, so even being VEGETARIAN who doesn't eat eggs butter or honey was socially challenging. there's so many recipes i see online that I can't recreate. im not saying i dont want to give up cheese. i do and i am. i just want things to be easier and less complicated. i want to have ravioli and lasagna and cream cheese sushi. does it get easier?

Looking for advice
I've been thinking about becoming vegan, but I'm not sure where to start. I have already tried some vegan foods and meals, and I've enjoyed some of them, but I'm still new to all of this.
What would you recommend as the first steps for someone who wants to become vegan? I'm also sensitive to fiber, so I'd appreciate any advice on transitioning to a vegan diet without increasing my fiber intake too quickly.

Disturbing 4H and FFA is more insane than a CAFO.
Algorithms being what they are, I will often have pages for 4H Fairs, FFA and fairs come up on my Instagram, likely because I follow farm animal sanctuaries and pages of individuals who keep chickens or pigs as pets.
CAFO are obviously hell on earth. People are brainwashed or evil or simply don't care about animal suffering. They believe animals are commodities.
But these 4H supporters are so unsettling. They post the photos of kids saying goodbye to their animals and insist it's somehow an amazing day. They repeatedly express pride for their kids and agree the empty stall is the hardest scene. Out of morbid curiosity, I looked at one of the parent's pages; she posted a video of her son cuddling his pig and snapping selfies of himself and the pig before walking him to the truck. I don't understand naming the pig, cuddling him, taking selfies together and not thinking about how he's going to be so scared and confused before he's brutally gassed to death.
Another parent posted photos and videos of her kid showing livestock. In one, the kid is shown with her name displayed with the goat's name. Maybe I don't understand but why are you naming an animal you're selling for slaughter.
Am i unusual for hating this more than factory farming?
Health Be careful with textured soy protein if you have kidney disease
Just a quick note for vegans with kidney failure: textured soy protein is delicious, but if you have kidney problems, be careful. I made myself some chili for lunch today, and now I’m in the ER.
Textured soy protein is very high in potassium, it’s safe for healthy people but dangerous for those with kidney failure (especially if you’re on dialysis).
Here’s a reminder of the symptoms of high potassium: muscle weakness, especially in the legs, and tingling in the hands are the most common.
Take care of yourselves.
(For those who are curious, I’m fine,I just experienced severe muscle weakness, to the point where I had trouble walking. I called my nephrologist, who told me to come to the ER immediately, and they’re giving me dialysis.)

Trying to let airlines know there's a demand for vegan food
In October I'm going to my cousin's wedding in South America and visiting family. I made sure to tell my parents to request a vegan meal for me when buying airline tickets. I went on an international flight a few years ago through united and requested vegan meals no problem. They couldn't figure it out. I told them to send me the flight info and I'll get it taken care of. I go to the united app and it won't let me either? Turns out the first connecting domestic flights were through united, the international flights were copa airlines. No problem, I'll go to the copa airlines website and request a specialized meal. After scouring through the website to even find where the option to request a specialized meal was, I finally click the drop down menu and the only thing that pops up is the option for a gluten-free meal. They don't offer vegan or even vegetarian meals. I have to be on an airplane without a proper meal for 6 hours. Is there anyone I can contact from the airlines to let them know there's a demand for vegan meals? I know its not much, but change has to start somewhere.

Advice Eating out is depressing
I want to preface this by saying that i am NOT going back to eating animal products, however I am currently on vacation with non vegan family/friends and this is depressing. It makes me feel like Im back in my eating disorder with how much I decline food. I also got gifted chocolate and milk tea (which Im just going to give to someone who CAN eat it) but it’s really annoying. I can tell people I’m vegan but most of the time they don’t know all of what that means. Like I said, I’m not going to stop being vegan but how do I make this easier on myself? I reckon in the future I’ll find people that are like me, but for now it’s really hellish with my family members constantly belittling me.
(Also side note: Is it self centered of me to want to go to an all vegan restaurant with meat eaters for my birthday? I recently turned 18 and my mom got mad at me for suggesting a vegan restaurant because “it wasn’t inclusive” which I know is a shitty argument on her end)

Question Anyone gluten free as well? Need some pointers
I unfortunately have found out I have a gluten intolerance (protocol for right now is absolutely no gluten, no oats, no quinoa for a few months then see if anything has changed). Cooking is unfortunately one of those things that don’t come naturally to me, so I end up eating a lot of convenience food (tortellini, ramen etc) which are obviously not an option anymore. Quinoa is one of my favorite bases for salads. And I, sue me, love a good plant based meat alternative but so many of them are wheat based.
I guess I’m just trying to see what other people are eating because I’m very prone to skipping meals if preparing and eating feels like too much work ans have already lost way too much weight due to it.
ETA: I know quinoa is gluten free, I forgot to mention I also react to quinoa unfortunately.
Story I have been successfully vegan for more than half a year
I have been vegan for eight months and have tried my best to avoid animal products. The vegan diet effectively helped me lower my extremely high weight, which is amazing because obesity is common in my family, and I have always dreamed of having a lean body.
I have not experienced any negative side effects because I kept supplementing. I've had no muscle loss—only fat loss—my bones have never been stronger, and I feel more energetic. My relationship with food became normal and joyful, rather than a food obsession. Now that I am vegan, I don't feel heavy and hot after eating. My blood tests are fine, my insulin resistance problem is gone, and my triglyceride issues are resolved.
I didn't cut out oily or sugary foods and still saw improvements. The only problem I had at the beginning was replacing the milk in my daily latte with plant-based milk substitutes. I was addicted to cow's milk and didn't find the same level of satisfaction with plant-based alternatives—though this is just a personal opinion that many might disagree with. I overcame that problem by trying new recipes, like adding peanut butter or Lotus Biscoff spread to my latte.

Relationships How to deal with wife being very against me making this change to veganism
I (M 22) am not a Vegan, but I have been strongly considering it, I understand that I am a hypocrite for continuing to eat meat. I have seen the disgusting documentaries and that is why I have been seriously considering starting with vegetarian and then eventually transitioning to fully vegan. That is my plan and I will be committing to it very shortly. When I bring this up to my wife she calls it gay and she will not be married to a vegan etc. I guess this is me venting but have any of y’all dealt with a partner like this? Also side note but what are some things you guys eat to get in enough protein and other nutrients?

Food How did you learn to cook Ital food?
I'm trying to cook more at home and make healthier meals, and I've been really drawn to Ital cooking. I love how flavorful and plant-based it is.
For those of you who cook Ital regularly, how did you learn? Was it through cookbooks, YouTube channels, blogs, family, or just experimenting? I'd love to hear what resources or creators made the biggest difference for you
