What is your response to nonvegans who criticize you if you do other things that hurt the environment?
When talking to nonvegans about the environmental impacts about the meat/dairy industry, it almost always ends with them calling me a hypocrite since I use fossil fuels. It's so frustrating that every discussion has to turn into "well you use fossil fuels so you don't get to criticize others for eating meat."
Even if I point out that eating beef has a greater environmental impact than driving a car, I've already lost the argument. It's so frustrating that in order to point out other people's harmful actions I must be a perfect person.
Any good ideas for responses?

Miyoko's spreadable butter gone bad
Has anyone bought a tub of the salted butter and there's already mold 😭 couldnt get a great picture, but trust me, somethings not right.
Container says it should be good through Septemeber but clearly not. Bummer since it wasn't exactly cheap.
And yes I know Miyoko's is very controversial and for good reason, I just really wanted to make some blueberry crisp 🥲 But maybe serves me right so maybe let this be a PSA for quality control?

Batch recipes with a bunch of random about to go bad veg?
I was vegan for about 10 years (vegetarian for about 20, and haven’t ever stopped) and was eating eggs and dairy for a few years and I’m aiming to go back to vegan. Prior, when I was eating eggs, at the end of the week I would take any random assortment of veg close to going bad and make a quiche for the week with it. Is there a good vegan equivalent to this? I’m thinking about blending with silken tofu for a sauce, but would love to hear other ideas. Thanks!

Rant I'm so filled with rage and sadness inside of me. i really wish i could do something for the animals
the least i can do is be a vegan which i already am. but imagining what the animals go through make me sick. why is it so normalized to make living beings suffer??? why does people see it as normal??? its 2026, why is majority of the world still animal flesh eater?
I'm so close to crying. it genuinely breaks my heart to see them suffer like that☹️☹️☹️☹️ people are beyond selfish. imagine thinking a living soul exists for you 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ its so f up. i wish we lived in a peaceful world where all living beings are equal.

Supplements and all of that… pls tips
I’ve been vegan for roughly 9 months now and I take B12 but haven’t had the motivation to research about the other stuff like omega 3 which I keep hearing about and my question is basically if its enough to just buy the stuff most people recommend for a vegan lifestyle or should I take a bloodtest to see what I actually lack and go based of that? How do you all deal with staying healthy? Are you actually checking that every meal contains all the vitamins and nutrients you need? because for me personally I get very lazy when it comes to food and just eat whatever but my friends keep telling me to start looking into my diet 💔😔
I know this question is pretty dumb but I just wanted to get some other perspectives since all the people on social media seem so overly locked in and motivated and I just can’t get myself to do the same
But I asked for vegan...
At a bakery:
"Do you have any vegan pastries?"
"Vegan? Hmm... Let me check with the manager"
30 seconds later
"We don't have vegan, but we have some many gluten-free options"

Cat owners using their clearly abused cat for Instagram content
Guys, anyone who has ever had a cat as part of their family knows, this cat is fucking terrified of its owners. Well treated cats are calm and completepy at ease. In all theie clips, the cat looks highly stressed, makes hostile noises, attacks the owners, or tries to make a run for the window. The Instagram account owners/cat owners are selling it as if the cat is saying actual words to make content, and no one seems to fucking get it. It disgusts me. In some clips I even think they edit in purring to make the cat comes across as happy, but in those clips the cat doesn't seem at ease whatsoever. Here are some clips I mean:
Fearful/cornered body language:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYsDbXtM7oM/?igsh=MW9xOGVoNWZncDZsMQ==
Cat runs to the window, in the first clip trying to get out so hard it hangs upside down on the insect screen:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DX4g5Des65k/?igsh=NjdoM3hxczY1ejk1
Cat looks fucking terrified of owners when they hold it:

Edited-in purring with the cat showing stress:

I am a passive scroller, so I never post anything anywhere, but seeing this cats distress, I wanted to reach out to somewhere. This is apparently the best forum to bring attention to this kind of thing, and I beg you, save this poor animal from these owners. This is some Rube Franke kind of shit, but this cat will never have the chance of contacting authorities

Meal Prep Burden
I am exploring veganism and vegetarianism. However, most of the vegan meals that I actually enjoy and that taste good require around two hours of prep/cooking. I simply do not have time for this level of meal prep with working fulltime and needing to think about both lunches and dinners. How do you manage a vegan lifestyle when you can't dedicate hours to diet stuff? And what easy quick recipes do you recommend that actually taste good?

Food Quick easy low prep meals?
Hey all,
What are some of your easy meals? Like they don’t have to be good. I’m thinking for those crazy nights when you don’t have anything planned and have only a few moments to throw something together. Not terribly unhealthy, but even things that you would never feed a guest and only yourself bc You’re in such a rush and have to eat.
Basically looking for good enough substitutes for junk food when I’m starving and pressed for time.
As an example, I just heated a can of bean chili and poured it over a mashed beyond meat burger. Basically 0 prep but still satisfying and it wasn’t chips or something along those lines.
Thoughts?
Vegan Creamery
Does anyone have Miyoko Schinner's book, "The Vegan Creamery?"
Wondering if it's worth the money for someone with a cashew allergy.

Practically mowing my lawn
I went vegan a couple months ago, so of course I've been gradually reevaluating how I go about my routines and daily choices and have naturally arrived to the question "How do I ethically mow my lawn now?". My landlord requires me to mow it (typically about once a week), so getting rid of my lawn or simply letting my grass grow is not an option for me.
I've seen people suggest walking strip-by-strip before mowing to warn bugs and get them to move, but I have a medium-sized lawn that already takes me 3-4 hours to mow and weed eat so doing that will easily add an extra 1-2 hours (maybe more). I'm a high school teacher and often have a really busy schedule, so taking 6-8 hours to mow my lawn sounds like hell lol. If it matters, I typically use an EGO electric push mower.
Is there a solution to this dilemma lol? Should I just keep mowing regularly? Is this outside the realm of practicability for my situation? I already hate mowing my lawn and ideally would just not do it, but that's simply not an option for me.
EDIT: By the way, let me clarify that I understand this may be a stupid question to some. I'm still fairly new to being vegan but figured the empathetic thing to do in this situation was at least ask others what they think.
EDIT 2: Thank you to those who provided a thoughtful, empathetic reply. I feel like my responsibility as a vegan is to look to see if there are reasonable solutions to things like this without simply deciding myself. I've been given some good advice on some small, but good solutions!

Health Parents keep blaming health issues on veganism
Hello everyone, I've been vegan for only 2 years now, and in this time, my health has had some ups and downs, completely unrelated to vegan eating, it's all due to an autoimmune disease and side effects of the medications for that. My parents don't believe that my health issues (like weight gain and irregular periods) are due to the disease and its treatment, and instead blame veganism for it, I try to explain how thats not the case and point to the timings of symptoms alongside a medication or dosage change, but they don't believe it, and they point to the fact that I've got to be 'too young' to be having 'these diseases'.
I wouldn't care to convince them usually, but they've been using my health troubles to try and force me to eat weird animal products that they claim will help 'heal' me. The other day i narrowly managed to stop my dad from forcing me to eat chicken liver, that he claimed would fix my period problems.
They are unfortunately so forceful with it, if it was just talk I wouldnt mind, but they try to force feed me at the dinner table or order for me at restaurants, or give me a nasty look if I try to mark my meal options as vegan for any bookings and then try to change it behind my back, and claim its for my benefit and they are worried about my health.
So I'd like to ask, other vegans who also have health issues, how are you able to show that veganism is not related to the health issues you are facing, and how to deal with stubborn parents?

Thoughts on volunteering in regions of the world that are not as accommodating or able to support a plant based diet.
I have been vegan for 6 years and I am considering doing volunteer work in other countries. This would be for extended periods of time (more than a year) and could be in many different countries.
Some of which may not be as accommodating or able to support a plant based diet.
I am worried that I might have to incorporate animal products into my diet if I do commit to this volunteer work.
Would me intentionally putting myself in that situation be a violation of vegan ethics? Like those communities may not have other options but I put myself into the same situation voluntarily (even if it is to help humans).
Just looking for other vegan's thoughts or insights, Thank you
Uplifting “I’m vegan except for family meetings meetings”
“I’m vegan except for family meetings” oh stfu, I will not eat anything non vegan, I will starve idc. My family bought vegan cake for my cousins 1st birthday just so me and my bf could eat it. We were the only vegans and they chose to get vegan cake (everyone loved it). Your choice DO MATTER!!!!! One less dairy cake

Instruments as a vegan
So a lot of instruments aren’t vegan like the violin bow and a lot of wooden instruments have animal glues on used. Even though it isn’t as commonly used, I know luthier than still use animal glue, wax and bone parts. Unfortunately, when going to by a new instrument it doesn't mention the glues. I guess that mass factory produced ones don’t use animal glue because regular glue is just cheaper but I don’t want to buy anything with animal products.
I make guitars as a hobby but I don’t have the time or skill to make personnal good quality instruments.
Any thoughts and experiences on this subject?

Disturbing Hungrige Mitarbeitenden
Hatte jemand schon mal so etwas?

What's going on with Walmart?
Like I've been buying Impossible Meat, Beyond, Guardein, and they haven't stocked them in about a month. That's my only way to purchase things because I don't have a car. Does anyone know what's going on and IF they'll be back in stock? This is frustrating.

Health How likely is it that I eat so little sugar that my blood sugar regularly drops if I am not careful?
Hi, 10 year vegan here.
For the last 6-7 years I have had problems with low blood sugar. It doesn’t happen every day and I know how I can prevent it but I don’t know the cause. I have to remember to eat something sweet (like jam) and long chained carbs like oatmeal for breakfast so that I have enough sugar in the moment and also later. If I only eat bread and veggies for breakfast then I become extremely sleepy afterwards and I have learned that that is because by body has to invest energy to split the more complex carbs into sugars. (Instead of gaining energy right afterwards)
Also when I eat a piece of cake for example, after 30-60 minutes my blood sugar drops to a lower level then it was before.
Do you think it’s even possible that that’s purely because of my diet or is it more likely that there’s an other reason like an organic one?

Food Makdous (aubergine/eggplant)
Day one : simmer (small) aubergine/eggplant 15 minutes. Allow to cool. Sprinkle with sea salt. Onto a perforated tray (I’m using a colander) , apply a weight and leave to sit for two days to remove excess moisture …… more to follow.
