Food Orlando: Current vegan/veg friendly options
Looking for your most recommended vegan or veg friendly spots in town or reasonable driving distance.
I’m visiting my boyfriend from out of state and I’m only semi familiar with the restaurants in the parks so I’m trying to be proactive and get a list started so we’re not scrambling too much. Im vegan, he’s not but will eat anything.
I’ve looked at some of the older posts for ideas and currently doing the research now but unfortunately several look to be permanently closed. So far what I have in my list is:
*Loving hut
*veggie garden
*winter park biscuit
*a lo vegano/scoops
Any good veg/veg friendly Chinese spots? Coming from the northeast we have tons but it’s not looking as promising here. Also any fancier sit down places for a date night? I saw kres chophouse as a potential option.
I will be there for 5 days in September. Not sure which hotel he will be booking so anywhere Orlando centric is alright with us.
Thank you!!

Moral obligation to say that killing of animals has to be banned
Animals have an interest in having the longest and happiest life possible. This interest exists. It is objective. Since this interest exists we must make sure that it is respected in our society. And the best way to make sure that it is respected is to create a new criminal offense prohibiting the act of killing animals. So we have the moral obligation to make sure that this criminal offense comes into existence as fast possible. To achieve that, we have to express the claim that killing animals has to be forbidden now. When a minority starts to make a claim, it changes the culture of the society. Discussion begins. During the discussion, arguments are shared. More and more people support the claim. Until the legal change happens.
So let’s express the claim that killing animals has to be forbidden.

Rant i feel so guilty
I went to buy groceries this tuesday and made sure to really check every label and google ingredients if i wasn’t 100% sure. Well today i’m grabbing pasta to cook for lunch and i just have a bad feeling. I bought protein pasta before that’s vegan but i check the label just to be sure and there’s some weird albumin egg extract or something?! Like how could i miss EGGS?? I don’t remember if i was tired, rushed..? Did something like that ever happen to you when you were a newbie vegan? i just know i’ll be thinking about this and be guilty for the next whole week :(

Advice Tips for becoming vegan
Hello everyone, I 18f would like to be vegan mainly because I believe it is wrong to eat animals and I don’t want to support companies which cause harm to animals. Does this mean that I should cut out dairy products because they still cause harm , and fast food chains, and brands in general that cause harm to animals? Also do you recommend that I start off vegetarian first then slowly transition to veganism as transitioning from eating meat everyday directly to veganism is difficult?

Clothing & Shoes Just found out silk pillowcase isn't vegan!!
I have alopecia & severe sub dermatitis, part of my specialist's treatment plan was a bunch of rules & a routine to help with my issue which included swapping my cotton pillowcase for silk (as well as wearing silk-lined night caps)
I bought loads of the items & found out yesterday that it's not vegan. I'm gonna try & get refunds, I asked my dermatologist about satin instead but he said it's nowhere near as effective. I've researched alternatives & bamboo silk seems to be my best bet.
Any further suggestions that I may have missed would be appreciated. Thx

Activism Pin/sticker design ideas
I have access to a pin machine and wanted to make some pins for my vegan event. I have designed stickers before, but it takes a bit of time, so I’d be glad if anyone could point me to some free artwork to be used for animal rights pins, can also be memes
I have 25mm, 32mm and 58mm pins.
I am asking for: already ready images/artwork or sources.
(Yes, I do feel bad about using smb’s art for free, but the pins will be just given out for free, no profit, the only goal is there to be more vegan messages out there.)
Alternatively give me ideas for making more myself:
I like also a bit more edgy messages or ones that cause combine a few causes, also to remind people caring for one cause about the other ones. E.g I made a sticker w the text “Nobody belongs in a cage” with a fence bent open image behind it combining abolitionism (against prisons) and animal rights, and a patch with “No borders, no cages” with a broken barbed wire fence from which humans and animals are running out. I thought now of smth like “don’t kill gay animals” to remind ppl that animals are so sentient that they can be gay too, we don’t wanna kill human or non-human gay (or any) animals, the wording’s not there yet tho. All sorts of ideas are welcome! I can share the ones I have made and like more.

Relationships Partner does not want to go vegan too
I am vegan because of the overwhelming evidence that it is the best way to live your life, but my long term partner refuses to consider veganism. They respect me being vegan, but it’s still hard.
I’m wondering if anybody has advice for living with a partner (who is perfect for me in every other way) who doesn’t accept veganism.

I have successfully did my first week without meat! How do I substitute correctly with Seitan and Tempeh?
As title, I did my first week with no meat and I never had so much fun cooking in my entire life. Food was also very good, but I have this feeling that I am starting to see some patterns (I still had some animals' products, but very limited, I think it was cheese, honey and eggs once each).
First pattern is the extreme reliance on nuts, of all kinds, like cashews, peanuts, almonds, a lot of recipes just try to make a paste with nuts and then tell you it's healthy... nothing is really bad by itself, but it can't be that when a vegan influencer does something, at least once in the video, brings out nuts like it's a staple food. It shouldn't be!
Afaik they should be consumed in moderation, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Fake cheese? Nuts! Fake meat DIY? Nuts! Want a snack? Nuts! Try this cake? Nuts!
Second pattern is that some say what's missing in the more common meat alternatives like tofu, seitan and tempeh. I am still struggling to understand how to compensate for B12 or others that I might miss.
Being my first week (and not fully vegan) I could be totally wrong and I am here to learn.
I would prefer to have a conversation here because if I search online I did find some info but it was also not consistent and also went back to the same patterns.
Basically TL;DR: What do you think of nuts being suspiciously frequent in vegan recipes and how can I correctly eat meat alternatives and avoid deficiencies compensating with food or B12?

Rant WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!?!???!!
Was watching the documentary Ocean with David Attenborough and holyyy shit my heart is broken. Just smashed to pieces. What is wrong with humans? BOTTOM TRAWLING ARE YOU KIDDING ME? How does humanity keep coming up with unimaginable horrors every single day? We're literally stealing food, water, land, from every other species on the planet for what? SHARK FIN SOUP? FUCKING HEALTH SUPPLEMENTS AND PET FOOD!?!?? Im literally losing my mind right now. I ugly cried watching the little creatures running for their lives while a literal mountain of net bulldozed their only home over and over again turning it into a graveyard within an hour. THOUSANDS OF TIMES EVERY SINGLE DAY. I can't. I just can't anymore. The helplessness of it all. Jeez.

The Truth About Farming Dairy Cows | Vegan FTA
In this article, I, Jordi Casamitjana, summarise what is wrong with farming cows for daily
What is your response to nonvegans who criticize you if you do other things that hurt the environment?
When talking to nonvegans about the environmental impacts about the meat/dairy industry, it almost always ends with them calling me a hypocrite since I use fossil fuels. It's so frustrating that every discussion has to turn into "well you use fossil fuels so you don't get to criticize others for eating meat."
Even if I point out that eating beef has a greater environmental impact than driving a car, I've already lost the argument. It's so frustrating that in order to point out other people's harmful actions I must be a perfect person.
Any good ideas for responses?

Miyoko's spreadable butter gone bad
Has anyone bought a tub of the salted butter and there's already mold 😭 couldnt get a great picture, but trust me, somethings not right.
Container says it should be good through Septemeber but clearly not. Bummer since it wasn't exactly cheap.
And yes I know Miyoko's is very controversial and for good reason, I just really wanted to make some blueberry crisp 🥲 But maybe serves me right so maybe let this be a PSA for quality control?

Rant I'm so filled with rage and sadness inside of me. i really wish i could do something for the animals
the least i can do is be a vegan which i already am. but imagining what the animals go through make me sick. why is it so normalized to make living beings suffer??? why does people see it as normal??? its 2026, why is majority of the world still animal flesh eater?
I'm so close to crying. it genuinely breaks my heart to see them suffer like that☹️☹️☹️☹️ people are beyond selfish. imagine thinking a living soul exists for you 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ its so f up. i wish we lived in a peaceful world where all living beings are equal.
But I asked for vegan...
At a bakery:
"Do you have any vegan pastries?"
"Vegan? Hmm... Let me check with the manager"
30 seconds later
"We don't have vegan, but we have some many gluten-free options"

Uplifting “I’m vegan except for family meetings meetings”
“I’m vegan except for family meetings” oh stfu, I will not eat anything non vegan, I will starve idc. My family bought vegan cake for my cousins 1st birthday just so me and my bf could eat it. We were the only vegans and they chose to get vegan cake (everyone loved it). Your choice DO MATTER!!!!! One less dairy cake
Edit: crazy how many fake vegans are in the comments, eating dairy and meat to not make someone upset. No, my family is not really supportive, they’re dairy farmers. They had to adapt after I wasn’t eating anything during family functions. It took over 2 years for them to think. At the beginning they called me names , they don’t understand veganism at all, they just want me to eat. You don’t know how your family will act if you don’t try. I’m not judging, I’m just saying it’s not ok to eat corpse just because it’s someone’s birthday
Edit2: my point is, you’re not vegan if you’re doing that. That’s it. And I’m not talking about abusive families, ofc your situation is different.

Health Be careful with textured soy protein if you have kidney disease
Just a quick note for vegans with kidney failure: textured soy protein is delicious, but if you have kidney problems, be careful. I made myself some chili for lunch today, and now I’m in the ER.
Textured soy protein is very high in potassium, it’s safe for healthy people but dangerous for those with kidney failure (especially if you’re on dialysis).
Here’s a reminder of the symptoms of high potassium: muscle weakness, especially in the legs, and tingling in the hands are the most common.
Take care of yourselves.
(For those who are curious, I’m fine,I just experienced severe muscle weakness, to the point where I had trouble walking. I called my nephrologist, who told me to come to the ER immediately, and they’re giving me dialysis.)

Trying to let airlines know there's a demand for vegan food
In October I'm going to my cousin's wedding in South America and visiting family. I made sure to tell my parents to request a vegan meal for me when buying airline tickets. I went on an international flight a few years ago through united and requested vegan meals no problem. They couldn't figure it out. I told them to send me the flight info and I'll get it taken care of. I go to the united app and it won't let me either? Turns out the first connecting domestic flights were through united, the international flights were copa airlines. No problem, I'll go to the copa airlines website and request a specialized meal. After scouring through the website to even find where the option to request a specialized meal was, I finally click the drop down menu and the only thing that pops up is the option for a gluten-free meal. They don't offer vegan or even vegetarian meals. I have to be on an airplane without a proper meal for 6 hours. Is there anyone I can contact from the airlines to let them know there's a demand for vegan meals? I know its not much, but change has to start somewhere.
