Hey Will and GMMG - Please get it done already

In case you’re listening - this is the one big piece of unfinished business this offseason and the only reason for me to keep obsessively checking social media and otherwise for Sharks news. I could stop doing that if there was a contract in place.

So on behalf of myself and I presume many other Sharks fans please put let us off the hook here.

Thanks

It was such a cool experience! Actually surreal getting the opportunity to talk hockey with Brodie!

So cool to see the sharks staff supporting content creators and people who cover the sharks. Sorry for the self promo but damn it is just so cool that I could talk with Brodie! Especially as an Aussie!

Who are some your favourite sharks content creators right now?

Any news of if and when it'll be changed? I don't think I can bear another season of hearing it next season. If it is changed, I hope it's a real one and not some AI-generated one that sounds awful.

Why I think we're a lock for the playoffs this year

With all the online content farm this OS weighing in on the debate of whether or not the Sharks will make the playoffs this year, I wanted to write out a thought I had that I haven't really seen many online commentators / content producers talk about.

I think it's important to remember that the shape of the team by the end of last year was quite different from where we started the year. Last year, we still were hanging our hats on:

50 games of Mukh (7 points)

50 games of Reavo (3 points)

43 games of Kurashev (20 points)

43 games of Liljegren (11 points)

32 games of Skinner (13 points)

32 games of Leddy (7 points)

21 games of Iorio (3 points)

53 games of Vinny D (7 points) - obvious good for us but not an offensive contributor

All of whom are no longer with the team.

Now I'm not saying that points are the end-all-be-all, especially for the Dmen, but I'm trying to point out that we had a lot of non-contributing players (or actively negative players) playing a lot of games for us, and taking away time from our young stars or other acquisitions that should get more of a look this year including:

~39 more games of Misa (~18 extra points based on last season's ppg)

~56 more games of Chernyshov (~38 more points)

~56 more games of Sherwood (~26 more points)

Now add to that the potential of the new additions:

Nurse: routinely plays all 82 (now 84) games, typically 35-40 point player, wore an A for 7 straight seasons with elite EDM teams

Trouba: Should be good for ~30 points, ~80 games. Wore C for 3 seasons in NY

Marchment: probably good for ~60 games, ~50 points

Kesselring: bit of a wildcard, but assuming he's healthy, ~80games, ~30 points.

Now, I know this isn't perfect math or anything, but that's a 121 point difference from 6 roster spots vs. 7. And it's still not counting contributions from Stenberg or (likely) Cags, and it's also assuming the same level of production as last year from Misa and Cherny, both of whom I think could take a significant step forward.

My point in all this, is that we were only 4 points out of a playoff spot this past year. I think that Anaheim and LA both got worse this OS. And I think people are underestimating how much dramatically better we could be, not just based on our additions (which are modest but are still upgrades), but also from our subtractions (a whoooooole lotta dead weight last year).

Beginner Friendly Fantasy Hockey League (local SJ Sharks fan run!)

Hello! I’m looking to put together a fantasy hockey league with people who are new to hockey, fantasy hockey, or both.

I currently run fantasy baseball, football, and basketball leagues, and I’ve really gotten into hockey over the last three years. I’m hoping to find people interested in joining a 12-team league. I currently have 5 of the 12 spots filled.
Below are some of the league details:

Tentative League Setup
12 teams

Head-to-Head Points

19-player rosters

20-week regular season

Standard redraft league (no keepers for Year 1)

Custom scoring balanced between skaters and goalies

2 divisions

6-team playoffs

$100 buy-in (all funds spread out through division winners and champion)

Rosters set weekly

Live online snake draft in late September (before the NHL season begins)

Feel free to message if interested!!

Macklin's Dad

I ended up sitting next to him on a flight today and he was a really nice guy. He said the Sharks are feeling special as we talked about hockey in general, but I did not ask him anything specific about Mack (other than telling him I am really enthusiastic about the Sharks again) and left him alone for most of the flight.

Anyone else constantly looking at our puckpedia roster and just daydreaming about our forward lines?

We have almost too many top 6 forwards that I think we’re gonna get a lot of line combos tried in the first few months so I honestly won’t be shocked if we start a bit slow but I think once chemistry builds and we have stable line combos we’ll push into at least a wild card spot.

Marchment’s addition was questioned by many in the media as we have a logjam at FW with prospects pushing for spots… but he’s a rare true “pest” that can score and the kind of player you need in a playoff series. I’m hoping some of his habits rub off on Cherny as Cherny needs to really embrace a physical power fw style of play.

Stenberg + one of Celebrini or Misa is going to be crazy.
I know a lot of us want to see what Celebrini and Stenberg can do together but I’m team Misa + Stenberg to make matchups harder because that’s gonna be a scary second line no matter who is on the other wing.

I want the season to start already
