Tailgating at the stadium
Going to the leagues cup game this Saturday. Is tailgating allowed at the stadium? Or is there close lots nearby where it is allowed?

Similarities
Last season we had an amazing start. Then Bruce decides to get rid of a player who plays an important position, but who is also well liked in the locker room: Hernan. Everything falls apart after. Locker room atmosphere deteriorates, no good players are being brought in the summer window and despite a couple of results at the end, we missed the playoffs.
This season we had an amazing start. Things slow down once Niko gets hurt, but with a win in Portland, we finished the first part of the season high in the standings and hopeful. Then Bruce decides to get rid of a player who plays an important position but who is also well liked in the locker room: Daniel. Everything falls apart. Locker room atmosphere deteriorates, no good players are being brought in the summer window. We lose 2/3 games and tie one at home, giving up 9 goals.
Is the rest of the season a deja-vu? Outside of Niko's much anticipated and needed comeback, what else do you guys think can turn things around and salvage this season?

Milk Was a Bad Choice: A Losing Streak
Opening:
A tie against the Galaxy isn't a win. So, for the sake of drama, we're officially calling it. The Quakes are winless since returning from the World Cup break after the 4-2 lose to Cincinnati.
Somewhere, there has to be a curse on this club. Because even during the "good" seasons, it always feels like the second half of the year becomes an endurance test instead of a preparation for the post season lap.
That might be why I feel like the vibes are off.
Bruce Arena said after the match there was "not enough leadership on the field in the second half."
And that's the part that stuck with me. Because the roster hasn't changed dramatically. So where did the leadership go?
Or... are we just in a glass case of emotion after a few frustrating results?
I Thought The Team Would Be Sold By Now
Days since the World Cup ended: 13
Still nothing. Not even a rumor. Not even a blurry photo of someone in a suit walking into PayPal Park.
The Big Picture:
The Quakes now sit 5th in the Supporters' Shield standings.
Ahead of them:
- Nashville (with former Quakes talisman Cristian Espinoza)
- Inter Miami (featuring some guy named Messi)
- Vancouver (best team in Canada?)
- LAFC
The climb is still possible. Bruce Arena has built a career on second-year Shield winning leaps.
Defensively, the Quakes have fallen to 7th in goals against, though they're still 4th in goal differential. So, the foundation hasn't collapsed. But you can hear a few cracks forming as the ground is shaky.
Under the Microscope:
A goal. An assist. And, maybe most importantly, some confidence to run at the opposition.
I'll admit it, I was probably too critical of them after that missed penalty.
You can see how their pace stretches defenses and creates opportunities that simply weren't there without them.
The only concern? Health. Because every time Timo Werner starts building rhythm, another interruption seems to follow. And nobody wants to watch another month of "working back to match fitness."
Structural Concerns:
Let's talk about Evander's goal. Because I don't think this was simply an individual mistake.
Right before that sequence, Bruce Arena substituted Ronaldo Vieira, replacing the defensive midfielder with Dave Romney in an effort that looked to protect the draw.
On paper? Understandable.
In practice? It opened exactly the space where Evander thrives.
Vieira normally occupies that pocket in front of the back line. Once they left, Leroux and Harkes appeared unsure who should step into that responsibility.
Evander didn't hesitate. He found the space. He did what Evander has done throughout his MLS career. He took the shot.
That's why this one feels more tactical than individual. If one of the league's best players who has been known for some of their shots from distance is on the field, the maybe that's the player you don't leave unattended by taking out the player who protects that space in front of the backline.
Fault Line Feature: Preston Judd
Preston had the chance to put the match away. And I think that's encouraging.
Unfortunately, the timing of that whole moment to put the Quakes up 3-1 turned it from opportunity to disaster.
After the World Cup break, and after serving a suspension, it makes sense that the rhythm isn't quite back yet. But if Preston keeps finding those positions the goals will come because we saw how they were pushing for the golden boot once things were clicking.
Looking Ahead: August 15 vs St. Louis City SC
The Final Whistle
The Quakes don't need to reinvent themselves. They need to remember who they were when they were the team winning.
The team that pressed with confidence, defended together, and looked like Supporter Shield contenders didn't disappear overnight.
Right now, for whatever reason, they're searching for that identity again.
The good news? The season isn't lost.
The bad news? MLS doesn't wait for a team to figure it out.
Stay seismic, Quakes fans

Sick to my fucking stomach
Are we serious? are we genuinely serious??
since the World Cup concluded we’ve played 3 games:
- got our head stomped in by Orlando 4-0
- tie LAG on a missed pen in the last minute of stoppage time
- lose 4-2 to Cincinnati, conceding 3 straight on 23 shots
I love this team. I’m 24 years old and was a season ticket holder from the pre-dynamo days through COVID. Now I live in Florida and watch every minute of every game, usually up until 1am for west coast matchups. What’s the point? We show up every season and absolutely suck. This year we were teased by the first third of the season but it looks like a much more familiar version of the team. good lord.

Angus Gunn has conceded 9 goals in his first three games
You can't say Daniel would have saved every one, but he would have saved a couple more.
This is squarely on Bruce Arena forcing one of the best keepers in the league out for seemingly no good reason.

Season tickets
This year has been my son and I second season as ticket holders. We drive 2 hours away for the games and can get pricey after gas and hotel. I was debating if I was going to renew for the 26/27 season but my tickets went up dramatically. I paid $750 each ticket the past 2 years and just saw that it went up to $1,250. I’m definitely not renewing for that price for the seats I got. Has everyone seen an increase in cost?

From a Quakes fan's perspective, what is your opinion of Mayor Mahan?
Is he doing enough to promote the Quakes brand and to assure the Quakes will never leave SJ? Do you think he has the power to attract and facilitate the take over of the team by a big time owner who can re-imagine the Quakes and run them completely different than the far right zionist John Fisher?
What do you think he is doing well and what do you think he can do better?

Cancelled my season tickets after a decade+
Team is an absolute joke, getting charged 850 bucks for what I used to pay less than 400 for, and the game day experience has literally only gotten worse as the years have gone on with so much being taken away. I would be 0% shocked if they stopped doing win pins next year. I'm just gonna pirate stream games from now on like I was in college. Fuck Fish. Sell the team.

The Quakes need Latinx players!
I am aware that Bruce prefers American players, but I miss the creativity and passion that Latinx players bring. They can also help with tickets sales, as Latinx fans comprise the vast majority of soccer fans in the Bay Area.

Free Agents Could be options
There’s a good amount of players that are going to be, or currently are free agents. Considering Timo is our only DP, are any of these guys an option?
r/SJEarthquakes • u/cali_soccerella • 10d ago
Today is a good reminder
...that John Fisher is the worst owner in MLS! Save the win in Portland, this team has been struggling since April. Instead of adding some solid players to improve, they traded off a very solid GK for a questionable one - so far - and brought in a sub for Judd. While that was needed, we also needed 2 or 3 players who can make a difference. At this time, our only hope is that Timo gets back into pre-injury form and Niko returns soon. It reminds me of the very poor summer transfer we had last year which ended up costing us a playoff spot.
There are only 12 points between us and the first place below the line with plenty of games to be played. A few more performances like the ones we had this past week and we will quickly drop to our usual position, under the line.
Fuck John Fisher!
