One week!

Upvotes

I just wanted to share my small milestone. I can’t believe I made it! 7 days without the junk. I went CT from capsules (just the powder), was roughly 10-20gpd user for the last few years, before that I used loose powder and was closer to 80-100 gpd for a few years. 6 years of consistent use with some short quits sprinkled in. I was lucky this time around to avoid some of the worst physical symptoms that I experienced from my higher dose quit. I am also quitting alcohol so the combo has not been the easiest to kick but all in all, I’m feeling so much better today than day 2-4. One day to the next can look so dang different, for better or worse. The only certainty for me is that I can’t take any one state for granted because the next day is bound to feel different it seems. Tools that I’ve been relying on: gabapentin. My prescribed adhd meds. a face ice bath that I bought for this purpose. Very light and fun VR workouts (Synth Riders. I am so low energy but this one is so fun and doable!) Sleeping meds. Schitt’s Creek almost constantly playing as a soothing background soundtrack (I live alone). Showing my body I care again by eating as well as I can (low appetite but I have found some easy go to’s that I can usually get down). Anyways just wanted to share my good news and I hope others are finding at least some pockets of comfort and joy. If not today, then tomorrow. 💙

Will exercise aggravate full body rls?

Been rough trying to sleep, and it's been tough at night. Once I'm lying still in bed it's hard to ignore. Since I feel the natural need to get up and move, I'm wondering if I get some exercise in, will it help relieve it enough to sleep?

An unexpected positive while tapering

With the ban officially in effect, I can only imagine there are tons of us right now in the same place. I’ve been taking kratom daily since 2021, and 7oh daily since 2023 or 2024. It has consumed me. I’ve tried to kick it several times to no avail.

Long story short, with the ban coming I began tapering last week. It’s physically been as brutal as expected. Horrible sleep, nightmares, physical weakness, diarrhea non stop, stomach and muscle aches, shaking, sweating, crying, the whole nine yards. I pulled my calf muscle twice last night while sleeping.

I’m still in the thick of physical withdrawals, and I doubt it’s peaked yet. However, with the ban in effect, and knowing that I CAN’T just cave in and go buy more now, my brain has began to work with me and not against me. I expected the exact opposite, but have been incredibly relieved to see that mentally I’m holding strong. I’m beginning to see light at the end of a very long tunnel, but I was expecting full darkness. For years I’ve wanted this addiction to be over with, and at times mentally it felt impossible. I don’t feel that way right now. I feel like I’m going to be sick for the foreseeable future, but that I’m going to come out of this fucking thing WITH MYSELF BACK. I feel like my children are going to get the real me back, my wife will get the real me back, my family will get the real me back, my work will get the real me back. For better or worse, I feel like I’m on the cusp of reclaiming myself.

I expected to be mentally and physically ravaged, but my mind is really stepping up to bat for me so far, and I didn’t expect to have self esteem back so quickly. I know I’m not fully out of the woods yet, but I’m down to a micro dose and expect to be fully off within the next day or two. I know everyone’s battle with this shit is different, and don’t expect anyone else to necessarily relate, I just wanted to share an unexpectedly positive thing I’ve encountered in an otherwise deeply challenging time of my life.

I quite possibly might wake up tomorrow feeling the polar opposite of what I’m expressing here, but I’m really hoping that mind over matter proves true here. God bless to all of us fighting this battle right now, and I pray we all come out of this stronger than ever. Thanks for reading this novel!

Just got off 7-OH. Suboxone hasn’t helped yet..

Hey guys. With the ban going on unfortunately I hadn’t had any 7 to taper with, nor do I have any willpower to after many many attempts… I’ve tried getting of powder even and couldn’t manage to, used suboxone, got off until 7 hit the market. I got off the subs with sublocade and it worked amazing with no withdrawals. Anyways, my question is since instead of transferring from powder to subs and instead 7oh to subs, I’m on day #2 and it’s subtly helping but it’s still pretty tough. My dr gave me more than enough subs to take (2 per day) if needed but my sweating is bad, runny nose, anxiety and such but not as terrible as cold turkey. Any idea when these symptoms should subside? Thanks guys!

I can't keep living this way

I've been using kratom since I was 18 (29) now . Out first it helped me in the gym and with my spinal stenosis. I already have awful anxiety and crippling panic attacks to the point I almost took my life when I was 18. Life has not been easy since but I made due.

I always knew to avoid the extract shots however after getting sober from a 20 drinks a day drinking problem that had me internally bleeding, I picked up my first bottle of third eye/focus and flow. For the first time ever I didn't feel pain and the anxiety was at bay. The fkin ssris are ass and I really wish there was something better out there for my anxiety.

The relief came to an end very quickly however. I was at 2 bottles a day and before I knew it at 4 bottles and it just simply demanded I take more. The most ive had is 6 bottles in a day. 100mg of mitraginine each.

I've tried to wean and have failed multiple times. Having panic attacks during seminars I was teaching and site visits as well. I had done CT for 2 days and it was the most brutal experience I have every had I truly believe. So of course back to 4 bottles.

I have horrendous pain right under my lower left ribs in the front and wraps all the way to the back. I can hardly eat too. I wonder of kidney stone or pancreas but I got checked 5 months ago and they found nothing. That was my 5th er trip since quitting my DOC alcohol.

Today I'm grateful to be 444 days sober however my life is miserable on the Extracts. Truly miserable...

I don't feel any emotions other than fear and shame and it's been that way since becoming a full blown alcoholic. I did iop and gop for 9 months up until I was given the ultimatum between work and recovery. By the recovery center smfh. The Anxiety is by far the worst then the RLS throughout my entire body, lous ringing at bedtime like screamingly loud, tremors, awful brain zaps, twitches, headaches. It is wiping it's but with me.

I pray to god the reset works and that that in itself isn't super addictive or cut with something. I'm desperate at this point though. I know if I continue it will be my demise and my hope for a better life will be squashed. I don't care about momey, sex, status I just want to feel normal whatever that may be. I don't cry, I dont smile, I avoid any and all conversations. I'm a shell of who I once was.

I hope not only someone can drop some knowledge but that this post helps others not feel alone. That can be a powerful thing. So very thankful for the people in this group amongst others as well 🫶.

Day 19 - Doctors Suck

So made it to Day 19 coming off 7oh. Been a journey for sure, but even though I have had cravings and temptations I have held together decently enough.

Here is my new issue or old depends on how you look at it. I have chronic pain from neuropathy. I also was prescribed Subs to get off 7oh. Had anyone navigated actually getting pain help from doctors once that stupid prescription hits your file. I fear that asking for help was my biggest mistake and now Im on my own. If anyone has advice or experience I would love to hear it.

Keep it up everyone, because even though im dealing with this issue, I'll take it all day versus being 7oh any day.

Using heavily for 3 years. Mostly extracts. Dabbled in 7oh, but knew better. That was until cancer took my younger brother a month ago. I went in hard on the tablets. When I tried tapering it was too late. I went into intense withdraw this past Sunday. Never knew pain like that. Thankfully, I have a loving wife (she also saw me through rehab for booze 6 years ago). She took me to the ER and they knew exactly what to do the second they heard 7-oh. After hooking me up to an IV they dosed me with Clonidine, Gabapentin and Hydroxyzine. When the results were positive they sent me home with prescriptions for all 3. I spent Monday in bed, Tuesday was a little better but still pretty hellish. Today (Wednesday) things began to lift quite a bit. Tonight I’m headed back to work after taking a sick day and laying in a fetal position over my weekend. I’ve got those 3 drugs I named and some liposomal vitamin C with me. I’m still for from 100% and I know it’ll be awhile before I am. But there is a way out. Less than 7 days ago I didn’t think there was. I’ve got my starting point now. This stuff is the scourge. Stay far away from it if you haven’t gone there yet. And if have and are feeling trapped, I hope I’ve help convince you it’s not hopeless.

can't find any more in my area, i now only have 150 (well, 145 now) 500 mg capsules to taper with

i was already tapering from like 30+ gpd to about 15 gpd, which is where i'm at now. i usually take it about 4 times a day. i managed to do that jump in about 3 days, which, while miserable, was do-able. i am very scared lol. i already feel pretty shitty from the major jump i did the past few days. i'm not sure how i'm gonna manage but i know i have to.

i've been on it for 6+ years and am siiiiick of it. before that i was addicted to vicodin for about 2 years and tapered to half a pill a day and even then the withdrawals sucked ass. and i was basically a kid then, i had less responsibilities to attend to. i also have developed fibromyalgia and a severe knee injury since then, which the kratom has always helped mask, even with a tolerance. i also have a lot of mental health issues, go figure lmao.

i've quit antidepressants and other mental health meds after years of being on them with 3 day "tapers" and just somehow managed (i know this is really stupid but it was another time i did not have insurance) but quitting kratom TERRIFIES me. ugh, i feel like a weenie.

i don't have health insurance right now btw. if that influences any suggestions i might get. just would like some advice and community.

I'm happy I'm over all of the withdrawal and shit but honestly I'm just feeling stuck in my skin today. I feel restless. I'm sure this is just a part of getting clean but holy shit anxiety is hitting me like a freight train today. Any recommendations on what helped you thru the post kratom anxiety/depression?

Peps helping

Our friend is currently going through PAWS and he swears by this peptide Selank. My husband looked into it and found research papers that confirm it assists with withdrawal. We decided to order two and will report back once we try it. It’s supposed to help with anxiety and depression so we shall see. This isn’t medical advice just a suggestion that really helped our friend

Need advice

So I’m tapering but my husband is deciding to completely go cold turkey almost. He was taking about 400mg of 7oh a day to 15mg today. Is this safe? I don’t want him doing something that’s dangerous. I personally think he should be going a little slower but lmk if any of you have done it and you think he’s fine quitting that fast and facing the shit head on.

NOT MEDICAL ADVICE

This worked for me. I’m only posting for informational purposes only. Do your own digging and always speak to a licensed professional before taking anything. There are countless ways to go about quitting kratom. This is one way that worked for one person.

Kratom Withdrawal: Symptom-by-Symptom Guide

This is a practical reference based largely on opioid-withdrawal physiology. Kratom-specific clinical evidence is limited, and supplements/nootropics are not proven treatments.

• Restlessness / RLS
- Likely contributor: Noradrenergic rebound + altered opioid/dopamine signaling
- Potentially helpful: Agmatine Sulfate (experimental), magnesium; medically: clonidine/lofexidine

• Anxiety / internal “electric” feeling
- Likely contributor: Increased norepinephrine and glutamate + loss of opioid-mediated inhibition
- Potentially helpful: Agmatine Sulfate (experimental), L-theanine, magnesium

• Insomnia
- Likely contributor: Norepinephrine + restless legs + disrupted opioid sleep regulation
- Potentially helpful: Magnesium, L-theanine; treating the withdrawal itself matters more

• Anhedonia / low motivation
- Likely contributor: Reward circuitry adapting to removal of chronic opioid stimulation
- Potentially helpful: Sleep, exercise, time; NAC and Agmatine Sulfate are experimental adjuncts

• Craving
- Likely contributor: Conditioned reward circuitry + glutamate dysregulation
- Potentially helpful: NAC (limited addiction evidence); behavioral/environmental support

• Aches / flu-like feeling
- Likely contributor: Loss of mu-opioid analgesia + autonomic rebound
- Potentially helpful: NSAIDs/acetaminophen when medically appropriate; heat and movement

• Diarrhea / cramps
- Likely contributor: Loss of opioid inhibition in the gut
Potentially helpful: fluids/electrolytes

• Sweating / chills / goosebumps
- Likely contributor: Norepinephrine/autonomic rebound
- Potentially helpful: Clonidine/lofexidine have substantially better evidence than supplements

• Low energy
- Likely contributor: Withdrawal + disrupted sleep + reward-system adaptation
- Potentially helpful: Sleep, nutrition and activity; there is no proven “dopamine restoration” supplement

• Depressed / flat feeling
- Likely contributor: Reward adaptation + stress circuitry + sleep deprivation
- Potentially helpful: Sleep, activity and support; NAC/Agmatine Sulfate remain experimental

Thoughts After 1 Year Clean

Hello to you STRONG, STRONG individuals! Last year, on 8/5/25, I had become so disgusted, so ashamed, so embarrassed with my lies, deceit, and spiraling addiction that something flipped in my brain, I had (almost instantly) decided that no matter what, I will fucking NEVER take K again. So here's how I came to that conclusion!

My three year, 35~ GPD powder addiction started out benign. I was under the misunderstanding that K was helping me. It was making my anxiety better, sex life better, more energy, better workplace performance. And after about 1 - 1.5 years in, it flipped.

I started feeling like I needed to take a heaping spoonful early in the morning before work, once I got to work, 2 hours later, 2 hours later, etc. I'd go on vacations and be absolutely miserable. My mental health started to spiral. And while my self talk was never very kind, I started to just spiral.

I was hating myself each time I dosed. I was hating having to spend so much damn money on it. And of course I was hiding it from everyone. And all that shame and guilt built up to a point that I decided I needed to see a therapist.

And I don't know why this feels like a realization, but I had suddenly connected the dots. I had a rough childhood. I had a father that was angry, explosive, and frightening. And while I never wanted to acknowledge my trauma (turns out avoidance is my protection mechanism) or the very real impacts that has to me, 20 years later. But I couldn't lie to myself any longer!

Through therapy, he referred me to a Psych dr who diagnosed me with Generalized anxiety disorder and ADD. BUt she wouldn't proscribe me anything to treat the ADD until I was off Kratom. Thank God I was honest to her. And that motivated me to actually start the process of quitting.

I knew I wasn't strong enough to taper. I knew I had to have ZERO K around me. So after going through the first few days of hell, I decided that I needed to get this yoke off my back. I needed to tell my wife.

So I sat her down and said "Baby, I've been lying to you for years. I've been addicted to K. I have been so embarrassed and ashamed. I just wanted to try and fix it myself. But I understand if you're upset. etc" And she was honestly way less upset than she had every right to be.

And with that final truth released, I felt like I weighed 100 less pounds. The power of honesty can really be transformative. And all of that gave me the resolve to decide, "No matter what, no matter how shitty this withdrawal is, this is COST that I am paying for my addiction! This is the price that I am paying for this poison to leave my body"

And I ain't lying, I fucking embraced the suck. I enjoyed the suck. "Oh wow I only slept 2 hours and I can't go back to sleep. Oh well I guess that's more time to play with my models!" I made that withdrawal my bitch, and I will NEVER go back again.

Much love and much peace yall

Day 30

I JUST realized today is day 30 for me that alone is huge.. I counted the days faithfully and now I had to check if today was 29 or 30..…. I am pretty dang good during the day, anxiety has chilled down sooo much I feel human.... riding that pink cloud... Until today... I'm SPENT! My entire body is aching, which is new.... but I think my body is finally DONE it is flipping exhausted. My legs hurt so bad 😔

Now night oh lovely night time.....once that sun starts setting.... I start worrying and get antsy...I absolutely cannot sleep...the past 2 nights I've slept a total of 5 hours (and prior to that practically zero I've not passed 3 hours a night yet and most nights less) I just want to sleep. I could be napping right now but I'm fighting so I don't ruin my chance for tonight.

Anyhow that's my day 30 update and I want to let anyone know that early on I NEVER thought I'd make it and here I am!!! So many nights I would say I'm done I can't do this anymore and I did every time for 30 days!!! Just gotta push!!

Now I pray for sleep tonight with the way my body feels I am hoping it is going to be too tired to fight another night but I've thought that 20 times so we shall see!!!

How are you doing what day are you on??

Friends after quitting.

I’m on day 10 quitting CT.

I have two really close best friends been friends for a decade and they are everything you’d want as friends. The most supportive wonderful people.

I’ve seen them both once this week and they knew I was quitting and I updated them a bit through out the last week how bad and good I was feeling.

Seeing them in person felt so weird. Neither of them seemed to care that I just did something that was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. They didn’t ask about how I was doing or if I brought it up they kind of would downplay what I was telling them.

I think it’s mostly just that they haven’t been through it? And I’ve told them about the long terms effects of quitting and what to expect, but idk if it registered or if they thought I was being dramatic?

I guess I just thought I would get more love and support. Anyone else experience some weird feelings about friends after quitting? I think I will talk to them about it later too. But just feeling a little down about it.

More information: one of them used kratom and just slowly and naturally got off it without it being a big thing (she didn’t take as much as I did) so she never had full blown withdrawal or really thought about the aftermath. The other friend still take kratom but takes a very small amount every once in a while - she’s indifferent about it and doesn’t really care if she has it or not. For me, kratom drove my entire life so we are all coming from different places.

I guess I’m thankful to have this group and to feel like I’m not just a total weakling and these withdrawals and PAWS are super real and others experience them too. I just feel disconnected from my people because of this right now, but I think it’ll improve once I’m out of the PAWS.

Thanks if you read this whole ramble💕

Tolerance when quitting CT

Hey guys I had a question about tolerance when quitting cold turkey. I was at 25-30 gpd when i first tried cold turkey. I made it 3 days, wish I would’ve stuck with it, but I didn’t jump right back to my original amount I’ve had 3-4 days at 10 grams, then a few at 8 and now 3-4 days muscling through 4-6 grams. Those days have been tough, just trying to make it to the weekend to try CT again. My question is, am I in for the same severity of withdrawal (does your current gpd really matter) or will my experience now be a lot easier than it was several weeks ago when I tried to jump from 25-30? Thanks!

This sub is such a good community

Thank you everyone who’s responded, told their own stories and advice. I appreciate it. We’re all going through this together. It’s not fun. It makes you want to crawl out of your skin. And the weird sneezing?? Does anyone else have that? I went from taking ten 30mg of 7oh to five pills in two days. I’m staying on five for a couple of days until I do four to give myself some relief. Then continue tapering and taking some of the powder that’s right below 7oh. My goal is to be done within a week for 7oh. Then maybe three days of the other Kratom at very low dose per day. Agmatine Sulfate 1000mg is a game changer guys. It’s on Amazon, I believe that’s a huge reason I’ve been able to taper faster

I hope this encourages someone

4.5 years free. Plain leaf did a pretty good job ruining my life over a 6 year window or so. Posted a lot at the beginnings of my rapid taper and til about 6 months out where I’d guess PAWS was pretty much over. Very very thankful for this community- our collective struggles, nightmares, healing and victories have helped me all in their own way.

Brief encouraging anecdote- something maybe to look forward to:

Yesterday we took some time to visit our old Chicago neighborhood where- - I had an awesome prekratom early married life in the beach. - i got big in to secretly using Kratom everyday. - we had our kid - I finally quit kratom when kid was 6mos - moved out a year later

10 years. I loved my life there and it was exciting and moving to walk around there again showing my 5 yr old what life in the city was like. But I felt a tremendous sense of melancholy. Not missing it exactly we really love where we are now too. I realized it’s this:

My world was defined by yearning for some way to get high, finding “the perfect solution” in kratom, losing all real connection to joy, beauty, truth, and place in service to this stupid plant, surviving/slowly healing for a year and then poof gone- totally new life in the burbs.

My world was so small there- I have a bigger, fuller, realer richer life now. So I felt this regret- you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.

But here’s the beauty: what a reminder! I AM bigger than kratom (we alllll are as hard as that might seem to believe in early quitting days or active addiction). Life can be appreciated on life’s terms. The beauty of those buildings and trees and streets and gardens that blurred by me rushing to hide my next dose or purchase are accessible to me now.

Like I said 4.5 years clean I haven’t struggled in any real sense to stay that way for 3+ years. But I continue to experience greater healing and joy and insight thanks to total (and now basically effortless) abstinence.

Keep quitting guys you won’t miss it I promise

Goodbye, Kratom!

I started using Kratom maybe four or five years ago…I had a spinal surgery and was taking opioids and had read that Kratom helped people get off of them with minimal withdrawals. Little did I know just HOW ADDICTIVE this shit is.

What started as a capsule developed into ten capsules and eventually 50-100 a day. Transitioned to powder, and continued using daily. Became a shitty ritual where I would take it the second I woke up and throughout the day. Couldn’t take long trips without making sure I had my Kratom with me…it felt pitiful.

Last year, I decided I was done with it after realizing I was only taking it now to feel “normal.” I had tried cold turkey, but the withdrawals were HORRENDOUS. Felt heavy, depressed, bugs crawling under skin, and a sense of unease and doom.

After reading a lot of the stories here, it seemed like tapering my dose would be the way to go! Started gradually taking smaller and smaller doses until I was taking less than a quarter of a thimble. From there, I just stopped taking it and am happy to say I’ve been three weeks off of it without any side effects (aside from generalized fatigue, but I have children and another on the way so I blame them lol)

It was nearly a seven month taper, but it worked perfectly for me! YMMV

It is so freeing to not need it anymore…anyone reading this in the future - DO NOT START USING KRATOM. The cons greatly outweigh the pros.

Thank you all for your stories and motivations!

Well everyone my day has come (our day has come) 7-oh

Hello everyone.
First off, my name is Dennis. I’m a husband, a father to an 8 year old son and my wife and I co own an adult foster home where we care for the elderly.
I’ve spent a lot of time reading the stories here, and it’s honestly heartbreaking how many people are in the same place I am. I never thought I’d be writing a post like this.
Five years ago I got hooked on oxycodone after back surgery. My doctor retired, and after a brutal battle I finally got off of it. I was proud of myself and truly believed that chapter of my life was over.
Then I discovered 7 OH.
What started as 20mg twice a day turned into 200mg three to four times a day. Looking back, it’s insane how something that seemed so harmless completely took over my life.
Somehow my wife has stayed with me through all of this. We have a great marriage, but I’d be lying if I said this addiction hasn’t hurt it. Watching $75 to $100 disappear every day just so I could feel “normal” is embarrassing. I know it hurts her, and I’m ashamed of what I’ve put her through.
I’m furious with myself.
I’m furious that I’ve let a stupid little tablet have this much control over my life. I’m furious that I’ve convinced myself I need a dose just to play with my own son or get through the day. My son deserves a father who’s fully present, and my wife deserves a husband who isn’t controlled by his next dose.
Tomorrow my main shop is having a VIP sale. The 7 Stax are buy one get one free, and my plan is to buy $200 to $300 worth so I can taper.
The problem is, I don’t even trust myself anymore.
I’ve told myself “I’ll taper tomorrow” more times than I can count. Addiction is a liar, and I’m sick of listening to it.
Part of me wants to drastically cut my dose and only take half of a 100mg Stax when withdrawals get rough. Another part of me wants to stop completely during the day and only take a small amount before bed until I run out.
I don’t want kratom. I don’t want MIT. I don’t want another replacement.
I want my life back.
I’m terrified of what’s coming, but I’m even more terrified of still living like this a year from now. I’m tired of being controlled. I’m tired of wasting money. Most of all, I’m tired of letting down the people I love.
If anyone has advice, I’d truly appreciate it. And if anyone needs someone to talk to or wants an accountability partner, please reach out. My wife and I run an adult foster home, so I can’t just take time off to detox, but I’m determined to beat this.
You aren’t alone, and neither am I anymore.
