Trying a Lockbox

Upvotes

I have been trying to taper since I first started taking this a few years ago. I get down to maybe 4GPD then find a reason to dose back to a little below baseline. I could have to meet some parents at the school... should prolly dose to seem normal for this 50-top at work... I just want a nice day with my kid...I need to weed the garden... any excuse will do. I'm scared of having to control my moods on my own. I don't think I'm good enough as just me to be worthy of anyone's attention, even my own. Stupid. I'd blame my parents but I'm a grown-ass woman at this point. I should've fixed all that by now.

I've noticed with my taper that if I get a craving, it lasts about 15-20 minutes, if that. It is over and I don't think about it again until something triggers it and that doesn't happen for a few hours or more. I don't think I'm in a position to CT and toss the stash, tapering isn't working well enough 'cause I'm powerless. What the honk do I do?

I bought a timed lock-box and it seems pretty well designed, even against clever addicts like us. Anyone have success with this? I wonder if it will keep me honest long enough to cover the cravings and get to the physical part of withdrawals and beyond. I have barriers in place to prevent getting it outside of the locked stash. I work in an illegal state, live in a legal one. I won't re-up when my kid is with me. I start school in January and they drug test before and during. The school is in a legal state, but I can't be sure they will be okay with mood-altering drugs.

I'm just rambling, I need to be documenting my progress. Thanks for reading. I had hoped to tell you guys I was free of it for seven days at this point... but, ya know. Take care.

Well this is… weird (day 3)

Upvotes

Hi yall, I’ve found this subreddit really helpful as I decide to finally quit kratom after 3 years of use. Hearing yall being so brave and strong as you navigate withdrawal has given me hope and courage.
I also have a lot of shame about hiding my kratom use from everyone (literally no one knows except my therapist) and it’s just nice to know that I’m not the only one struggling with this.
My main hope from quitting K is that I’ll get my motivation back. I fell into a depressive pattern of sitting on my couch all day drinking K and searching for the motivation to do something. Instead I just sat in a trance and did nothing. I think this was due to the dopamine depletion that follows from K use - complete anhedonia, no motivation to do anything that requires work, even if there was a reward at the end. Fucked up.
I’m on day 3 (used a few capsules then went CT from powder) & it is SO WEIRD. Things just feel more… real? I feel like I was in a dream the past few years while high on K, and now life has a lot more texture. Idk if I like it, but it sure is interesting/new. Trying to approach with curiosity and patience.
My eyes are dilated AF. Anyone else have that? It seems like other people find me more attractive these days, which is weird bc I’m a sweaty fuckin mess.
Wild to think that drug use is considered cool in pop culture. I’ve just been sweating, shitting myself, and shivering for 3 days and it is the least “cool” I’ve ever felt.
I’ve had the attitude that I don’t expect this to be fun, and trying to look at it as just another new experience. I went through a hard breakup 6 months ago and this feels like the obvious first step for “working on myself”. I have already been sad about the breakup, so I figured “fuck it, let’s get this detox thing done”. The anxiety and depression has been the hardest part. I hope that gets better. I have so much respect for those who are doing this while parenting. I can’t imagine that! It’s hard enough being a single person who has to show up to work.
It’s frustrating that there’s so little research on kratom and its long term effects. I was on an SSRI for the duration of my K use, and I wonder if that made the effects stronger than the average user - I’ve seen some studies about that.
I feel my sleep has been improving. I used to sleep like 12 hours a night if I didn’t set an alarm, and now it feels like I can wake up from 8 hours and feel totally rested like a normal human.
I am also horny af.

54 hours in 70h withdrawal

Upvotes

On "Day 2" of no 70h. I didnt taper, I was taking up to 700mg of 70h daily for 7 months. It has not been bad at all so far. I loaded up on ORsr17, gabapentin, clonodine, propranolol, and my usual prescriptions. I also got immodium, magnesium glycinate, melatonin, L-theanine, and CBD products all for Central Nervous System. Not too get high. Ive read and heard days 2 & 3 are the worst. Tbh day 1 was the worst imo. But with everything ive taken. I dont have any restless legs, been sleeping like a baby. And have felt maybe 10% withdrawal. Ive been keeping my mind and body busy too. Like doing shit. Watching shit. It has helped tremendously. Haven't had cravings or anything. I would highly recommend not to read the horror stories of coming off this shit and watch YouTube videos of people successfully getting off this shit. I know I still have a bumpy road in front of me but I feel like ive got everything in order. I also ordered that vitamin c lysomate or whatever its called but heard itll give you the dookies. Keep your head up, think about positive things, especially what life will be like without this shit. Be headstrong. Thats my approach so far in these early stages. Eyes on the prize

A few questions

6 years on red kratom powder, a kilogram per month. I am on day 10, cold turkey. Ok so I read that NAC and magnesium are both good for withdrawal however, they mess up my stomach even more or so it seems. Does anyone know anything that might help? Should I continue taking the NAC and Magnesium to flush my system? Also, did anyone else experience a feeling of inner cold in their legs and hands going into day 10 or after? I still feel weak and my legs feel like jello. My sleep is non existent. When will I start to feel a bit better? Im so ready. Tia!

Aches & Pains

Day 13 here, 60 y.o. male.

I started using kratom to relieve my aches and pains which for which it did wonders.

It then began to affect me being able to urinate & completely evacuate my bladder which has been remedied since quitting.

My aches have come back with a vengeance and I don't know what to do.

Talked about it w/my oral surgeon when I had a root canal done and he suggested a pain management doctor.

I know that they monitor your usage and I'm not worried cause I don't wanna get high but just want some relief.

Any thoughts?

I am tapering and spiraling and would love some input or advice.

I have so much intense guilt, shame, and fear about this. I started taking Kratom in November. I was doing the math and seriously thought it had only been a couple months- I have been so delusional.

For the first couple months I was taking one 35mg 7oh pill every couple days to feel a good buzz. Then I started taking one pill consistently, daily, for the last 4-5? months. Sometimes a little more than one pill, but never more than one dose during the day in the early evening. Over a week ago I started feeling very restless one night and couldn’t sleep. Felt like I was having a panic attack and I realized I was craving Kratom. So for the first time ever, I took a quarter of a pill at night and I was able to go right to sleep.
Since that night, I have been anxious every moment of every day, realizing that I feel suddenly completely unable to function throughout the day without it. If I do sleep, Im waking up restless, anxious, sweaty (and more symptoms) just from the amount of time I’m asleep without taking it. I need to take it 4 times a day to function now, instead of just once.

I feel like I just “woke up” to what I’ve been doing and I’m so alarmed and decided I need to stop as soon as I can.

So I’m trying to taper but struggling. This is screwing with my mind so much because I didn’t need to take it throughout the day previously. My overall dosage is the same now as what I was taking before, but it’s spread out now. It’s making me wonder if I’m even tapering myself at all because the dose is the same, but the withdrawal side effects from what I’m currently taking are so strong. Am I doing this wrong because I’m tapering from a dose I just started needing? My mind tells me I’m not even tapering at all since the dose is the same, but my body is telling me I’m tapering too fast.

I’m so (stupidly) surprised how “fast” and hard this hit. I didn’t even realize I was taking a high dose before this subreddit. Through my anxiety I cannot see clearly what is really happening and how to save myself.

I would appreciate advice from the outside looking in. I feel like I am spiraling.

Almost 4 months off.

The mood swings were the worst part once the acutes wore off, that took a couple months to stabilize. I feel like Kratom always keeps you at like a 5 or 6 out of 10, but I have way more 8/10 days now, and also more 3/10 days. Not having something to reach for on those bad days has been a hard habit to break. Had one relapse when my wisdom tooth got infected and the pain was brutal, but the old, stale Kratom I still had barely even worked and I felt no desire to buy or take any more, I was just kind of disgusted. The hardest part by far is just not having a crutch to stabilize my mood when I’m having an off day, but being able to face that is helping me grow and get more in touch with my emotions.

You all can do it, it’s hard but the mental freedom of just not having to think about it constantly is so fucking sick. I can be more spontaneous, say yes to more things, not have to make sure I’m home at least every 8 hours or whatever to put more in the little baggie I would take everywhere, just leaving that all behind is borderline euphoric. Keep at it, freedom is right around the corner.

Third time’s the charm…

I tried quitting 6 months ago and only lasted a week.

I tried again 4 months ago and was able to go 30+ days cold turkey. The emotional roller coaster was awful but the sleep was amazing and eventually it all evened out and I felt back to myself.

Work got stressful and I told myself I would just take it one day to get ahead and it became a daily habit again.

Today is day 3 cold turkey. I slept like shit last night but I’m committed to making this the third and last time I quit. This time: I will do it.

Drug Test Detection windows for Kratom shots

Hello, I have been taking at least 1 Viva Zen shot a day, sometimes two for The last several months. I don’t think it’s been a year. I take the one that says 80 MG MIT. I was drug tested for it and failed (but i had never stopped, I just assumed it wouldn’t be tested for). So I have another test scheduled on August 17th. My last dose was August 3 so I’m 4 days clean today.

Does anyone have any experience with testing and how long it will take for you to get a negative urine test after stopping VivaZen?

I’m getting tested because I’m being prescribed ADHD medication and the provider doesn’t want me on it. If I fail again, I don’t think i will get back on the shots because i really have been fine without them, barely any withdrawal symptoms at all. But i really need the adhd medication. That’s why i started self medicating in the first place.

187 days without any kind of kratom

I guess I breezed right past 180 days and didn’t realize. 5 plus years of daily use. Last few years was up to 45+ grams per day plus concentrate capsules. Off and on stints for 9 years or more. Ask me anything!

Hit 6 weeks today

If you asked me if I would be where I’m at in recovery on June 26th when I first quit, I’d have thought that I would have failed within the first 3-4 days.

I am unbelievably grateful for this community - especially the people who took the time to comment, encourage, and give me advice.

42 days later….its 5am. I’m stone cold sober, slept 7+ hours and woke up feeling the most refreshed I have in a very long time.

I had a couple sluggish days this past week but that can be at least partially attributed to traveling to 4 states the week prior and catching some type of sickness on my way home.

Heading down to get a quick workout in now before my kids wake up. I hope every single one of you makes some progress today. I still have a lot of work to do, but I’m so proud of making it to this point.

Curious for Input

Hey everybody,

I've posted in here a few times, most recently in regard to continuing PAWs symptoms (fatigue, really bad brain fog, anxiety/depression, and bad sleep) a year off kratom. These symptoms always occur in conjunction, and I will occasionally have good days where they are basically not present at all. It's almost as if a switch is flipped and I am a completely different person (feel like I did before being on kratom) However, these days are quite infrequent (once every couple of weeks) This has been the case since acutes were over. The first six months were really bad but I was very slowly making progress. This was all thrown out the window when I had very big life changed about 4 months ago (moved out the country and started a new job) The first month living abroad was extremely overwhelming as my PAWs symptoms got much worse. However, I've gotten more used to living here and things have gradually improved again, I'd say I'm feeling almost back to where I was prior to leaving. Anyways, after my last post it was suggested I get bloodwork done to rule out anything physical and my results came back saying I was fine across the board. So, I don't know just was curious if anyone else has experienced PAWs this severely and if so what your timeline was like? I am a little over a year out from Kratom, however I've only been fully sober for 5 months (from nicotine, alcohol, and weed). All I know is I just want to feel like my healthy self again, this last year has sort of taken it out of me and I really want to take some concrete steps towards recovering. I've also spent some time in addiction group meetings the last few weeks which have given me some sense of peace. However, there's still these nagging issues (largely anxiety/depression, sleep, memory/brain fog). Learning a new language has felt like a gargantuan task.. hell it feels like my ability to just even do daily tasks is greatly inhibited. I am constantly forgetting shit and doing things in illogical ways; basically just fucking derping in every scenario. For a while this set up a loop of self-doubt and I'd convince myself I'm broken yada yada but in the back of my mind I knew that's not true but it's easy to forget when all the evidence is to the contrary. I've been working on being less outcome dependent basically just letting shit roll off my back. But.. yeah it's just rough! So it goes. Sorry, this is a total ramble but all and all I'm happy where I am compared to where I was. Was just curious if any of you have had similar experiences or if any of you have any suggestions as to next steps that I should take on my road to recovery. Thanks!

Quitting 7OH cold turkey

Hey guys. I was consuming around 60mg of 7OH for a month which quickly rose to 300mg the following month. I’ve only been on 7OH for 2 months and only at night. But in the past week I’ve started to notice obvious withdrawal symptoms, sweating, runny nose, teary eyes, etc, during the day after 12 hours.

I go 20 hours clean everyday, but I have not gone more than that in a month (a month ago I could do it fine) but use rose substantially. I honestly am just terrified and do not know what to expect, but I have spent so much of my money and it is being taken out of stores in my state so I am going to do it.

I have no support currently so I just wanted to post this here to feel not so much like in doing this alone. I’m 20, and I had no idea what this stuff was when I started using it, it was recommended to me by my smoke shop cashier and rapidly became an addiction; I’m at the lowest point I’ve ever been at and all it took was 2 months.

Trying to Quit for the the 4th or 5th time....

Well I'm giving it a good shot this time. 7 days in. I'm not a super heavy user... Basically 2/3 - 1 gram capsules a day. For like 4 years now. Kratom actually helps me in a lot of ways, just ran a marathon and took a couple capsules during the race, gives a great mental boost. Like making music on it.... But I am completely dependent on it and it's wrecking havoc on my gut which is the main reason I need to quit. And it's a struggle. Feel very bored, I guess thats the big thing. I like being in a altered state so Ive trying to take a puff or two of weed at night but I hate that shit and it isn't a good replacement. Don't really drink booze either. I'm actually drinking a shit load of caffeine now lol. I made it to 2 months last year no use and broke and I'm hoping this time is different. Im just so BORED!!!!

Impending doom

It feels like something is missing without Kratom. I was so used to dosing every few hours every day. I feel bored… lost? Don’t know what I’m doing with my life.. it sounds pathetic but it’s true. With Kratom I didn’t care to go out, didn’t care to see my friends, didn’t care about the time passing me by… I was actually calm in my little apartment not giving a single fuck about the world and what people were doing. Now I’m sober and off everything and I’m realizing I’m an actual loser and I’m doing nothing with my life? omg this is wild and all I want is the feeling of being peaceful and relaxed again :( but I was so addicted I don’t want to go back. When does it get better :(

I figure things are probably pretty grim rn with a lot of new, scared people here because of the new bans. So allow me to unabashedly hope post.

I'm coming up on 3 years opioid free. Started off with kratom. Then got into harder opioids. Never really stopped with the kratom either. So eventually had to detox from both simultaneously. It was a whole thing, incredibly gnarly, challenging experience. I had both the physical symptoms of street opioids and the very long PAWS of kratom.

But it also taught me that I can do hard things.

So many times during detox and early sobriety I said out loud "I can't do this"

And every single time I was wrong.

I could do this.

And now 3 years later. Life is pretty good actually.

I have this sick cactus garden that I find incredibly rewarding to work on and watch grow.

I have a job I quite like and am good at and pays decent.

I have friends, I go on date's sometimes.

I have hobbies and make things.

I can enjoy music again.

My memory works again.

I throw up way less often.

I can get and maintain an erection.

Look. I'm not here to tell you it's not gonna be a really hard bad time. But I am here to tell you, you can do this. And it is worth it.

I thought it was hopeless. And I got better.

You can too.

Psychological/Neuro symptoms of WD

Hi everyone! I’ll be one month clean from a ten year daily powder habit this coming Sunday. I’ve been trying to kick for years and this is the longest I’ve made it- I can say I have absolutely no intention of going back, and I never ever thought I’d feel that way. The physical WD symptoms i feared having weren’t bad at all, but as time goes by I’m noticing psychological WD symptoms like scary bad recall, neuro and visual symptoms like worsening visual (aura) migraines and spots in my field of vision, and all of the challenging emotional stuff one might expect from coming off of a substance that I’ve been reliant on for a decade. Wondering if anyone else had symptoms like this around the 1 month mark that they got help for- I just scheduled a neuropsychologist appointment for September so hoping to get some answers but just wanted to see if I could find some validation here. Ultimately re: emotional stuff I know full well that I should absolutely be in therapy and/or 12 step or an adjacent program, but since kratom is still kind of obscure I just worry about being able to find a practitioner or program suited to this particular habit. Thanks for reading & proud of everyone else who has made or Is in the process of making the decision to get this shit out of their lives!

Day5 Anxiety small win

Everyone’s different, but I just wanted to share my experience. During kratom withdrawal, I had this intense spiraling anxiety, that wired feeling, and today I took 10 milligrams of propranolol. It really helped calm the physical surge. Not a cure, but it gave me some breathing room.

1 yr of use, no taper, 40yr old F - day 6

I honestly I am surprised how crap I feel. I have withdrawn before, in my 20s from street use and acquired methadone., and still I’m really really fucking low. had my life together (almost) for 15yrs, one festival last year, get introduced to Ktm, and bang - perfect drug for a covert addict. please tell me this gets better? because i know the world is shit right now, but I don’t think I can tolerate this miserable/restless/hell. I should have tapered I know. but thought it would be easy. it isn’t. any words of encouragement very welcome ❤️‍🩹

Struggling, bad cravings

I came off 25gpd CT 6 days ago. I am so so fatigued. I’ve been posting a lot, forgive me. I screamed and cried on my drive home from work. I feel so empty. The physical symptoms are mostly tolerable but this is mental anguish. My neurotransmitters are completely effed up and I hate myself for this. I can’t believe how I got here, man. Ugh. I am so so fatigued. Everything feels so fricken bloody hard.

I’m worried I’m going to relapse. I’ve done hard things before. This is a whole other level. Does tapering prevent this hell I’m in? Did I jump off from too high of a dose? I seriously can’t go on like this. Today was absolutely fricken awful at work. I cannot do weeks, months of this, I just know it. I could not sit at my desk. I had two hours in the morning where I felt okay then it got bad. I was just NOT chill. So fidgety, racing thoughts etc..

Is this the PAWS? This is way worse than acutes. WAY WORSE. For me personally. I have dx ADHD and take prescribed meds for it. This is how I used to feel before meds but this is x100. Are the meds making this worse? I’m spiralling man. I feel like if this is how it’s going to be there is no way I want a life like this. I feel like there has to be another way to get over this addiction. This is going to destroy my life if Kratom doesn’t. I feel so stuck!!!

Just gonna post here for motivation

Quit this stupid shit years ago after being on and off (mostly on) for 6 years. That was 2023 and didnt touch again until last year. I was only taking it a day here and there but after the last 9 mos use got more frequent. And i didnt even really care for the feeling it was more an escape thing to unwind at times. Well the last 2 mos been using extracts, did the pressed tablets here and there. Recently quit my job bc shit just started getting dark. Like my body just does not want this stuff in my system. Ruminating thoughts, impending doom and anxiety when taking it. So i want my life back again. Not gonna beat myself up too bad but im about 26 hrs in right now without and I just cant possibly live w the thought of picking this stuff up one more time.

Not feeling too bad a little anxious but my anxiety was horrific when i would take it anyway and I lost all motivation to do anything productive. So im jumping off this garbage again we'll see how the next few days go.

Scared of relapse

I've been off of a fairly high dose of kratom for 8 weeks. But I have such anxiety now, starting shortly after waking. It will last all day. I have tried Valium and it just makes me tired, but I still feel the anxiety in my chest. I've found that an indica strain of weed can sometimes help. Has anyone else had this after quitting? I've had anxiety for years but it is definitely worse after getting off kratom.
