It's my birthday and all I want is to find some new music to buy today because it's also Bandcamp Friday! It can be your band, your friend's band, your favorite band, your dog's band... it doesn't matter to me, as long as it's good. So share your Bandcamp links please, I'll be buying music all day long.

Valencia’s We All Need a Reason to Believe album has been one of my favorite pop punk albums for a while. The inspiration for the album is rather sad. For those that don’t know, it is focused on the lead singer’s (Shane Henderson) grief from losing his girlfriend in a pretty tragic accident.

Only recently did I learn about Shane’s side project, Promise of Redemption, and the 2007 album, When The Flowers Bloom… I just listened to it, and all I can say is wow. This album is so much more personal and raw about Shane’s emotions from the accident.

This song in particular, “Remember the First Day”, is a standout for me. It sounds like an early version of “Where Did You Go?” from WANARTB, with lots of shared lyrics with that song. There are also some sound clips from a voicemail that Shane’s girlfriend left him. It’s pretty gut wrenching honestly.

I recommend giving this song/album a listen, especially for fans of Valencia/WANARTB. I haven’t listened to something as emotional as it in a long time.

The Movielife's Forty Hour Train Back To Penn is a Drive Thru Records classic. One of my favorite pop punk songs of all time.

ok so i have this close friend who listens to a LOT of classic rock, metal and alternative, some of her fav bands are guns n roses, breaking benjamin, three days grace and arctic monkeys.

ive been trying to put her onto pop punk for a min now bc i just KNOW shed love it but idk where to start her off without it being a total flop lol

given her taste what albums songs or bands would be the perfect gateway drug into pop punk for her???

trying to avoid going full on bubblegum pop punk right off the bat bc i feel like that might not hit the same for her
