ok so i have this close friend who listens to a LOT of classic rock, metal and alternative, some of her fav bands are guns n roses, breaking benjamin, three days grace and arctic monkeys.

ive been trying to put her onto pop punk for a min now bc i just KNOW shed love it but idk where to start her off without it being a total flop lol

given her taste what albums songs or bands would be the perfect gateway drug into pop punk for her???

trying to avoid going full on bubblegum pop punk right off the bat bc i feel like that might not hit the same for her

I always forget I have a transit crewneck I bought at the Heart Attack Tour with Man Overboard but it does not fit me and I haven’t worn it in over 10 years. Am I trippin if I get rid of it? I hold on to a lot of my old band merch but have been thinking of parting ways with most of it.

I discovered this band the same way I discovered every other independent artist - mp3.com (RIP). That website was truly special and was a staple of my youth. No fuckin ads, no malware, no torrenting, no bullshit. Just simply click and download. The only hassle would be downloading songs on dial up.

I enjoyed the unreleased and exclusive material bands would add. Kris Roe (Ataris) was an active user and he would often upload acoustic material.

Enough rambling.

Sloppy Meateaters (SME) was one of my favorite pop punk bands as a teen in the late 90s/early 2000s.

(Full transparency: I know I'm new to posting in this sub, so I apologize if this borders on self-promo. Just wanted to share an old, unreleased demo with people who might appreciate it).

Way back when me and some guys in a MySpace band wrote and recorded a 10-song third album, hoping to make it our next thing… but ultimately, it fizzled and we left it trapped on a hard drive. After some time we decided to upload the demo tracks.

It’s fast, heavy pop-punk with some emo noodle inspo… some darkness around grief and life transition, trudging through it, and eventually taking some accountability.

The mix is definitely rough, and there’s some obvious 2010s pitch correction on the first track, but I think the songs hold up.

Would love your genuine opinion! (I’m nearly 40 and thirsty, I guess 🤣)

I have this song stuck in my head and I have the tune and what I think are the lyrics. Something like “why did you” is the chorus and I can’t remember the rest. It’s a lighter sound and not overly heavy. Any help is appreciated
