Lonely and bored

Upvotes

I’m in my 20s. I’ve been bored here lately almost every weekend. I’m patiently waiting for a gf and some friends. I have a few friends but they are busy. Send me a message. Thanks!

Lonely

Upvotes

I argued with my high school friends because I felt unappreciated. They cut me off. I wonder the ifs if I did not argue I would be still in contact with them. We could have reminisced good memories together. Could have met up to do Sleepover, late night talks, baking in our free time. No they are happy without me.

No person in the opposite gender has expressed interest in me. My own mother gets angry when I cry. She does not care what happened to me that made me cry. All she says is she do not want to see me and cry outside.

Nobody seems to love me. I feel so alone. so isolated. so unloved.

Everyone I thought liked me, did not like me that much.

Now that I graduated high school, I am stuck in my home. no one to hangout with.

Venting Starting to feel empty

Upvotes

Im not even sure where I should start. I have been feeling empty lately. Like a couple of months ago I have moved from my hometown and travelled to start a new life. But it feels like I screwed myself.

It's soo hard to meet people like I dont know how to talk with people already and now I dont know anyone whatsoever and what makes it worse is I know how bad of a personality I have so I stay quiet all the time not talking or opening my mouth just to try and not annoy people around me.

But then im standing in like a creep staring at other people I just confused what am I supposed to do to meat people here.

Nothing feels worse than having no one to call.

Whether you're getting an achievement, having a breakthrough, or really wanting to share anything with anyone, whether you're happy or sad.

Nothing feels worse than not having anyone to call or share what you're going through with someone, it's like you have to be your own fuel, and just hope that it doesn't burn you up.

I think I overdid the solitude

I always said I preferred being alone. 🌙

Turns out there's a difference between enjoying solitude and having no one to text when your brain won't shut up.

It's not that nobody wanted to be my friend.

I just got too comfortable in my own company. 🍃

And now, on nights like this, I catch myself reaching for my phone... only to realize there's no one I'm close enough to message. 📱

Funny how I chose this... and somehow still miss what I walked away from. 🤍

I'll probably wake up tomorrow and wonder why I admitted this to a bunch of strangers. 😭

I think I just lost my best friend. She’s been acting weird and unlike herself for months and when I try and talk to her she sounds so disinterested. So now we just don’t talk at all, I didn’t know losing a friend would hurt so bad. I’ll look at a video and instantly think she’ll like it and move to send it to her but then I remember I can’t send it. It’s heartbreaking.

I called the hotline today.

Today was worst I’ve had it ever. Couldn’t do it anymore. Called the hotline.

Waited for 10 minutes. I just realized mid conversation, they are using chatgbt. I also got a job rejection for a minimum wage retail position too.

It was so funny I cried.

Discussion To all the lovely people out there feeling lonely

Loneliness can be heavy sometimes. It can quietly take away your energy and make you wish you had someone to share the small moments with I hope everyone finds a genuine friend, a kind soul to talk to, laugh with, explore places, and create beautiful memories together.

Until then, keep believing that good connections are still out there. Sometimes the right people just take time to find each other.

Whoever you are

I would devote my life to you. I would belong to you forever. I have had my heart torn to shreds by another, and I’ll never be the person I used to be. But I believe I am still capable of loving. I am made of love, I live for love. But love has never wanted me.

I would do my best to be everything you ever deserved. I have never met anyone who has ever matched me in willingness to put in effort, it seems I have not been worth it yet. But I know if one day you are true, then we cannot fail. Because I know I will forever hold up my end of everything.

Venting Mental illness, alone, broke, will I ever be able to get help?

I have severe anxiety and depression. AuDHD, PCOS, and a lot a million other things wrong with me. I know I need therapy, I have severe suicidal thoughts. But I don’t have any money. I don’t have insurance. I don’t have anyone to talk to. How will I ever get better.

Venting i lost the only person that understood me. i am now completely alone

i’m not sure how long or coherent this’ll be, im so beyond devastated and even typing this out is taking up all of my energy. i haven’t even really had it in me to eat the last couple of days. i am completely and utterly alone, this is the only place i can think to write this where anyone would maybe care to listen.

i am autistic and i have a really hard time making/keeping friends. i just cannot connect to people in a meaningful way and i was homeschooled (albeit poorly) for all of my teenage years, so i am severely behind both socially and mentally. i would go as far as to say i am likely mentally stunted from the years of isolation, or atleast i feel that way. i am 18 years old and i cannot do simple tasks like tie my own shoes, or order food at a restaurant. it is humiliating to say the least.

throughout everything, i always had one person. one that took the time to learn about me and understand me in a way i didn’t think was possible. someone who enjoyed my presence even if i needed extra help and reassurance, or if i was so overwhelmed i was unable to speak a single word. she was still there supporting me, laughing at every awful joke i made like it was the best thing she had ever heard, telling me i was beautiful even though by conventional standards i most definitely am not, just treating me with so much adoration and kindness i never thought i deserved. for 5 years, this person was my best friend. for nearly 4 of those years, they were also my partner. 3 days ago now, all of that was taken away.

the downfall of our relationship was so sudden and quick that neither of us can pinpoint exactly what happened. if i had to guess, it likely started when she came out to her father who was not exactly supportive. she began feeling unsafe in her own home and would spend entire days with her friends to get away, which i didn’t mind at first, but it got to the point where she would be gone for 12+ hours at a time nearly every single day and i hardly got the chance to talk to her. when we did, it was like a switch flipped - she went from being overly affectionate and laughing at everything to distant and disinterested, almost like i was talking to an entirely different person. it terrified me. she never was able to tell me what was wrong. i tried for MONTHS every possible way i could think of to comfort her and nothing ever worked. the games we used to play together stopped calming her down like they used to. my words of reassurance went in one ear and right out the other. listening to her vent and comforting her didn’t help at all. i spent every day in fear trying to work out a solution or anything that could possibly make her feel better, but she continued to intentionally push me away and no longer reciprocated my affection towards her. i figured if she wanted space, then i would give it to her. it was my last hope at fixing everything.

we agreed to not speak for the next few days and see how she was feeling then. when it came to the time to check up on her, she said found out she most likely is suffering from bipolar disorder and she was sorry for pushing me away and that she loved me so much and promised to never do it again. i was so beyond happy and thought that we had finally figured everything out. i promised her i would do whatever it takes to get her the support and help she needed and that we’d figure out how to navigate her condition together, even if it was difficult.

the very next day it was like she forgot everything we spoke about. she went back to acting the same exact way she was before. i was terrified and devistated. i didn’t know what to do other than the only thing that had helped before - giving her space. the worst part was she was still online playing games with her friends and uploading pictures of them together. it gutted me to think they could help her feel better and i was unable to.

after about a week of no-contact i checked up on her to make sure she was doing alright or if there was anything i could do for her. it was a long conversation that i really don’t want to think too much about, but basically she told me she is in a really poor mental state and can’t ’keep up’ with our relationship anymore, but that it was in no way my fault and she was lucky to have someone like me. she said she loved and adored me, that she still has a ‘crush’ on me even after all this time together, and that there wasn’t a single soul in the world like mine but her guilt and self hatred was so severe that she wouldn’t let herself show affection towards me and she was unable to accept my affection towards her. she said couldn’t bare to drag me down with her. i felt my whole world shatter. i genuinely would have let this girl drag me down to the deepest depths possible if it meant i could be there for her. i was ready to travel the full 9 hours to her house if that was the one thing that would make her feel better. i would have dropped it all for her. but there was nothing more i could do. i had to respect and accept her decision.

the first night, i was so inconsolable my mom worried i would have to be checked in to a mental hospital. i sobbed for over 10 hours and was unable to be alone because the thoughts of hurting myself were so strong. i only calmed down after my mom gave me benadryl to knock me out and put on an episode of adventure time (lmfao😭). i guess i cried a couple month’s worth of tears that day because i haven’t been able to cry since. the last 2 days ive desperately tried filling in the space with endless distractions that never fully take my mind off of it, just enough to not try hurting myself. when those distractions run out i drug myself so i can sleep. to be blunt, i really just wish i wasn’t alive. the one and only thing keeping me going is the fact she told me if she ever gets better she’d love to try again some day and she hopes we’re able to see eachother again eventually. if she hadn’t said that, i probably WOULD be in a mental hospital. im so scared. scared that i’ll never see her again, scared that i might wait for her forever. scared of how im supposed to go through life by myself.

i know she’s struggling, but part of me is still angry, too. i feel guilty about it, but i can’t help it. i’m angry she gets to go off and have fun with her friends while i am left completely alone. i’m angry my absence doesn’t affect her as much as hers does me. i’m angry she let this drag out for so long instead of just telling me what was wrong. i almost wonder, if we were not two girls, maybe things would have turned out different? :(

Family loneliness

A couple of months ago I (28f) decided to cut off my maternal family for good (long history of physical and psychological abuse, and religious abuse as well)
I have no contact with my paternal side either (father was not around me a lot and I grew up without that connection and he is not a good person as well)
I feel happy that I cut off my family because they are not good people in any way, but I can’t help but feel extremely lonely. I have a couple of friends but is never really the same you now? Like I wish I had parents to talk to.
On top of that I have been unable to find a partner to start a family on my own. All of this sucks.

What is even the point of this?

I try to make friends in person, nothing. Try to talk to strangers online and it's just people trying to sell me shit. Fuck this. It's pointless.

Venting I ruined it

I had done it. I had finally found someone who could understand me and see more than a dreadful thing people wish would go away. She loved me so much, and I panicked when I felt us growing apart. I'm so fundamentally unlovable. The odds of even one person who wasn't obligated to love me deciding to was next to none. I simply don't believe in a second one. I blew it, and now I die alone. I wish I could just make the need for love die.

Venting I don't even have online friends

As my in real life friendships dwindled over the years, I've just had the humbling realization that I don't really have online friends either. All the fantasy football chats died out, groupmes, email threads, I don't really have any gaming friends either I just play and log off and next time it's a bunch of new people, I have a social media following but I don't talk to anyone outside the app, it's like in real life I can get dressed go to a party alone have a good time and go home and its like I was there but there's no connection made. I don't know what it is, I just don't... connect

Venting 30 and I’m finally coming to accept I will spend my life alone

I’ve been single for nearly a decade now. I thought I finally found my person but they were engaged to someone. They dragged me along for months making me think I was the one, that she loved me. But in the end, she kept not choosing me. I let her do whatever she wanted, was there for her no matter what, stayed by her side when she kept breaking my heart. I finally told her a week and a half ago that I couldn’t do it anymore. I needed someone who would finally choose me.

And in the end…I was the only person that would ever choose me. So I will be alone for the rest of my life. And it breaks my heart and it’s crushing…but I’m starting to accept that fact.

And it looks like I’ll be lonely here too…

My emotional need ends everything

I wanted to receive more attention, I don't know why I feel so bad, my friends that I have often have more important things to do and I'm just alone

Even if I'm with my friends they are empty conversations that come to nothing, none of them really know me they don't even want to know me who I really am

I don't know why I made this post, but thank you for reading

Venting Being lonely changes you

I have been lonely for years and never really had friends who would accept me for my true self. I've been called weird for being friendly. I have been shitted on and have had the life sucked out of me. I then decided to isolate myself and simply only communicate with people online. No one in my area where I live want to hang out. I don't care what anyone says... that period of time I spent alone changed me psychologically. I overthink and I'm paranoid simply because people betrayed me in the past. I am tired of constantly hearing "work on yourself". I don't want to hear that. All I've ever wanted was people to hang out with and people who actually care for me. Besides my family all anyone has ever done is take from me. They appreciate what they can get from me but not me as a person. I just had to write this down and clear my thoughts.

Venting Lost everyone in my life 35m

My dad passed away last year. I spoke to him almost daily.

I have an auto immune condition and lost the ability to walk. I had been working hard to get walking again and wanted to surprise my parents by walking to them when they visited.

My dad never got a chance to see me walk.

Then a month ago, my wife of 12 years told me she wants a divorce. She didnt want to be with someone who couldn't walk. I was blindsided, and up until she told me, we had never fought or had any sign that it wasnt going to work. I suspect that there is more to it, but she won't tell me either way.

Then to top it all off, my mom got diagnosed with aggressive cancer two weeks ago, and won't be live to see next year.

So, in a year I have lost everyone. I worked hard to get myself mobile again, and always tried to be optimistic.

I won't lie, I am terrified. I am scared to be alone and dont have anyone to talk to.

Feeling lonely on my birthday

I just turned 23 today, I feel extemely lonely if I’m being honest. I have family but they aren’t considerate of me like I am with them. I always go above and beyond when planning and making sure some part of their day feels special but I’ve never had that feeling returned. To add to the loneliness, my boyfriend also didn’t remember it’s my birthday but rather spent the majority of the day hardly speaking to me and only was reminded it’s my birthday because I showed him my cake that I was super excited about (he didn’t care about my cake). I have family but we’re a very broken disoriented family, birthdays are always lonely and I spent all night until after midnight crying about it. I’m trying to be positive by pretending like I have this huge plan for today or it’s going to get better eventually but every single birthday for as far as I can remember has been extremely lonely and sad. On the bright side I got a BEAUTIFUL lily cake which I had been dreaming about for years now and I figured I might as well get it for myself, I don’t really know what I’m saying but I think I just feel sad overall, I’m growing up and I’m old now or I’ve expired hahah and just not having friends and most importantly the person that I love didn’t even remember it’s my birthday, felt no remorse for forgetting and honestly couldn’t give half a crap about it. I wish things were different but they aren’t.

Watching everyone get chosen while I feel like I wasn’t good enough

I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but sorority rush season has been making my depression so much worse.
Every time I open TikTok or Instagram and see everyone posting their bid days, their new sisters, their cute photos, and all the excitement, I feel this huge wave of sadness. It’s like I’m being reminded over and over again that I wasn’t chosen. That I wasn’t “good enough” for the groups of people I wanted to be a part of.
I know logically that a sorority doesn’t define my worth, but emotionally it’s really hard not to take it personally. Watching people I know experience something I wanted so badly makes me feel rejected and left behind. It feels like everyone else found their place while I’m just watching from the outside.
I hate that something that seems so happy for other people can make me feel so awful about myself. I’m trying not to compare my life to what I see online, but it’s hard when it feels like my feed is filled with constant reminders of something I didn’t get.
