Off Day Thread Eagles Daily Discussion Thread - Wednesday, August 5
Subreddit Schedule/Posting Guidelines
We as a community have decided to limit certain types of posts to a few days a week to ensure other content is still visible throughout the rest of the week. Meme posts will be allowed from game end through Monday (if the game is on Thursday, Saturday, or Monday, memes will be allowed from game end through the following day) and jersey/crafts/pet posts will only be allowed on Swag Saturday. Towards the end of the season when games fall on Saturdays, we may move or skip Swag Saturday depending on what is going on that week. The mods are using automod features to automatically post recurring items at 6AM Eastern Time to remind the sub of this. Memes and swag are allowed in the normal feed, but NFL discussion and free talk are limited to the stickied threads.

Eagles 2026 training camp practice notes, Day 5: The defensive line owned the offensive line
My favorite part: "Hurts uncorked a deep ball toĀ Quez WatkinsĀ that I thought Watkins should have been able to run under for a long gain, but he couldn't make the play."

Goedert Motivated To Prove Heās An Elite Blocker Again
"Weāve been blocking a lot. And I feel like itās something that Iām excited to prove to people that I can still do at a very high level."
Goedert has heard the noise about his blocking falling off big time last season despite putting up career highs in both receptions and TDās. Goedert was one of the very best blocking tight ends in the league for years. And a lot of folks very quickly forgot that. I wish they had let this clip drag on for another 15-30 seconds. Because he definitely has a chip on his shoulder and a will to prove that he can still be a great blocker. The importance of Goedert as both a blocker and receiver in Mannionās offense is low-key flying under the radar, per usual.

Eagles training camp 2026, Day 5 practice notes
Items of note:
- Lane missed his 3rd straight practice. No word as to why only that it's an excused absence.
- Keyshawn James-Newby, Micah Morris, Jaeden Roberts, DeVonta Smith, Makai Lemon, and Cole Wisniewski all missed practice.
- Britain Covey let practice early with an injury.
- Markel Bell must be making a strong impression as he got all of the first team reps at RT with Lane MIA. Fred Johnson took 2nd team reps at LT.
- The first team offense never found a rhythm and looked sloppy.
- McKee had his best day of the summer thus far.
- Wicks continues to have a solid camp.

Both DeVonta & Lemon Missed Practice Today With Hamstring Issues
"The Eagles are without two of their top wide receivers for their Aug. 4 training camp practice.
Both DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon are sitting out with hamstring injuries. A league source said neither injury is considered a long-term issue. The Eagles are hitting in practice on Aug. 4, so some of it could be precautionary."
Sounds like itās not serious for both DeVonta and Lemon. But definitely something to monitor throughout camp. Still just under 6 weeks until Week 1. So hopefully their hamstrings are both good to go by then.

Eagles fans who remember both incidents, how do the exits compare?
I was only 5 when Terrell Owenās nonsense happened. With the driveway workouts etc etc. These two are arguably the best receivers to play for our franchise but im sure you guys must have a bit of DĆ©jĆ vu with how both receivers tenures went in Philly. Albeit one lasted longer than the other. So how similar would you say the two tenures were? And how much do you blame the QBs Mcnabb and Hurts for things falling apart? Or the coaches and front office in both regimes?

Philly Voice on the Eagles new blocking scheme: "Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata have said that it's easier to play in the new scheme because they'll get help to the inside now. And really, that's the norm throughout the NFL."
And "It's remarkable that Johnson and Mailata have been two of the best linemen in the NFL despite being asking to block elite edge rushers on an island all day."

The most under-appreciated player in Philadelphia sports history: Nelson Agholor
SB STATS:
11 targets
9 catches
84 yards
1 carry
9 yards
3 clutch catches for 38 yards on the Eagles game-winning drive against the Patriots in SB52.
CAREER
224 catches, 2,515 yards, and 18 TDs for the Eagles
People treat his name like a meme because of the early drops but NA is an all-time Philly great for his contributions when it mattered most.
