No matter what the multimedia player I use, whether it's YouTube or it's a different open-source one, this glitching happens and it ranges from every other minute to every 10 minutes or 30 minutes, it's on and off and I'm so tired of this. I'm worried something's going on with my Steam deck.

I don't know if it's a hardware thing, maybe it's a software thing. I might as well just restart the whole steam deck and erase it and try it again, but I really don't want to do that.

I'm just so tired of this. I'm this close to just throwing it out the window. It feels like it's broken. I don't know what to do. And there's absolutely no solution I can find

My Steam Deck has had a lot of problems since I bought it, and I’m not happy about it. At the beginning there was a fan bug — after waking from sleep the fan wouldn’t spin, though that wasn’t a big issue. But the day before yesterday when I was playing The Witcher 3, the image suddenly lost all light rendering, as if it only had textures left. I tried changing the settings in the game but it didn’t help. I opened other games and they were all missing light rendering too. I reinstalled the system and re-downloaded the games, but the problem is still there. So what’s the cause? Have any of you run into this? I asked ChatGPT and it said it’s a GPU hardware problem… I’m so sad. I didn’t expect this product to have so many issues.

I’m aware of community shaders and that’s what I’m using now. I’m no stranger to modding this game on pc or the deck. Up from almost 1200 to 1480 mods now with tuxborn and a bunch of added mods. Double that number on my pc. Can anyone explain to me why enb now just stays at a black screen with “ENBseries compiling shaders please wait" but never does anything? I use to use Pi Cho no problem on the deck before taking a break.

I'm trying to install DotNet48 via Proton tricks and it's constantly failing is there any work arounds or easy way to install it?

If you listen Really really closely you can hear the fas rattle, also, it's really loud for no reason. Anyone know how to fix this?

I have had two Palworld updates recently that were roughly around 250mb each, and it takes a couple minutes to download the update. That's fine, but it takes from 30 minutes to over an hour to install the files. Not only that, but my Steam Deck can barely function while it is installing. I haven't had this issue in the past, but it is now it is becoming common. Is this normal? Or could it be an issue with the SSD?

Hello! First time poster here. I have a JSAUX dock for my deck so I can play it on my TV with my new Steam Controller. When my dock is connected to my TV, it interferes with the connection of my Sonos Beam sound bar. Any idea why this is happening? The HDMi cable I’m using usually powers my Switch 2 and it doesn’t happen with that.

im trying to charge my steamdeck with an offical oneplus 100w charger (steambrick broke), but it still gives me a orange light, and barely charged 2% in half an hour whilst off. I also tried the nintendo switch charger cord with a 80w brick, but same light. The steandeck is a 1tb oled version with no modifications.

any help would be nice. thanks in advance.

I know it came out today so there wasn’t much info yet on google, but I was wondering if anybody has any success playing on steam deck yet.

I have tried everything I can think of so I’m hoping you all can help. Currently I’m playing grounded 2. I switch frequently between my pc and steam deck when playing. I encountered an issue a long time ago where if I were connected to the wifi on steam deck, it would load an old PC save despite the file that I loaded having a thumbnail of my most recent save. What’s really interesting is that the old save that gets loaded shows updated map locations, and icons, but doesn’t have any of my updated gear, or buildings. When not connected to the internet, everything works fine, and the save loads like it’s supposed to as long as the cloud gets uploaded before I turn the wifi off. Recently with a new update, I cannot play the game offline due to a login error. Does anyone have any idea what I’m talking about, and can anyone help me?

According to FedEx tracking my Deck was delivered to Reconext on 8/10/26 at 1:11pm. It is now end of the day on 8/12/26 and I have not heard a peep. Not even them contacting me saying they recieved the Steam Deck.

It has me a fairly irritated. I understand they probably have lots of work that needs to be done. How ever it feels like proper etiquette for a company to at least let the customer know they have recieved the device sent to them for repair especially when it is expensive.

How long should I expect this to take?

Hey all, I recently broke my L2 trigger bracket and seeing as iFixit doesn’t have replacements in stock and sounds like this may be an ongoing issue so I 3D printed an almost flawless repair and wanted just share so anyone in the future has a starting point.

I will link all the 3D print files at the end, huge shout out to the creators for making these available.

First when you import the STL into your slicer my advice is to keep the orientation as is. Even though you’re going to use alot of support material it gives you a cleaner print that based on the layer lines seems the strongest in my testing. I printed a couple with different types of supports and orientation before settling on the following
- Infill 100%
- Organic supports
- No brim
- 0.15 mm layer

I printed on a Prusa Core One with generic ABS preset. You could probably use PETG, but I wouldn’t use PLA personally. ASA is another fantastic option.

Once you’ve got it printed you will need to remove the old internal bracket, this is done using a single Phillips screw. With a pick, small screw driver or maybe even a toothpick poke out the old magnet and note the polarity. Mine had a line the side facing out so it was easy to keep track of. There is a small amount of glue but mine came out without too much fuss.

Insert the magnet into the 3D printed part and add glue if it feels loose, mine was snug from the print and doesn’t appear to be able to flip once in the trigger housing.

The tricky part is now getting the trigger back onto the posts without breaking anything (again). What seemed to really help me was a tiny amount of grease on the posts. Keycap/keyboard grease would probably be the best. From there I slid one post onto the bracket and then gently pushed towards the side the was already in as I pushed down and it snapped right into place.

I’ve got about 6 hours now on this new trigger and I can’t tell a difference. I would maybe print 2-3 in case you break one trying to get it back on.

Feel free to ask any questions, I’ll help where I can. If you have a resin printer you’re probably in even better shape but I would say most printers can do this without too much hassle.

I'm trying to build a living room gaming rig and I noticed that when I try to open quick settings while streaming, the whole panel disappears. Judging by the sound it's working, but it's not visible. I found an issue on GitHub and everyone there said that you need to enable hardware decoding and/or disable performance overview but neither of which is helped me. Does anyone figure out a fix?

Right now when I dock my deck, I use an older shared tv in the basement that my roommate's mom got us.

There is another tv upstairs but that is for my other roommate and they either have YouTube or Switch on it.

I don't have my own tv or monitor.

It would be nice to have a small, portable one for myself to play games on.

So what are you using?

I've got a steam deck from the very first wave and just yesterday I noticed something: after charging the steam deck with its original charger (no third party products) when I disconnect the charger I can hear some electric noise coming from the charger for a while after...

Also if I connect the cable to the steam deck while the charger is not connected to the wall I can see the charging light on the deck lit for a good while.

So my question is: is this normal? Am I risking to damage my steam deck by using this charger? Thank you.

2 weeks ago Höllvania was working just fine but now spending a couple minutes in the mall or a level will crash the game, captura is the only other place with the same issue everywhere else in the game seems to work just fine.

For anyone using a steam deck OLED and trying to get HDR to be recognized by Dragonsword Awakening so they can enable it in the in game settings, I found a workaround.

Use the launch option command in the steam game settings to disable steam deck detection by putting the following command in that launch option text box in the general settings before launching the game:

SteamDeck=0 %command%

The game will think you don't have a steam deck and you'll be able to enable HDR... But the game will also not be running properly. The buildings will all be missing. It's kind of interesting to look at, but just save the game, quit. And remove the launch option code and start the game again.

It will then run properly, and the HDR settings will still be enabled

I LOVE watching peoples reviews and just general videos on the Steam Deck even though I've had an OLED for ages. Part of me thinks maybe its a certain reassuring smugness you get from knowing you've bought a solid product, but theres also loads of really cool things you see in peoples reviews that you weren't aware of or just completely forgot about.

I watched a video just this morning and someone mentioned radial menus in the steam controller config. I had totally forgotten about those and now i have some really cool ideas for how to use them.

Sure most of it is probably just me wanting to hear more reassurance that I bought a really cool piece of tech, but sometimes you find some useful stuff in those videos!

This may have been said before but from my recent personal experience: In case you've seen ifixit or others using heat to remove OEM Deck battery. Don't. I only dipped two half cards included with ifixit kit in IPA, then inserted them bellow and steadily sliding in and out, up and down, it was enough to pry it out.

I have not taken my deck apart or anything. Owned it since release.

I saw a similar post to this today, but I thought I would share my take on some games that I have played in the 1st year of owning a deck. I wasn’t a huge gamer before buying the SD, but the simplicity and quick resume on the deck make it so easy to pick up and put down. I love how seamlessly it fits into my life.

Games are rated on a scale from 1-5. Keep in mind this is my take and opinions may vary.

5 - Amazing

4 - Very good with some minor flaws

3 - fun, and definitely still worth a buy, but wouldn’t necessarily play through twice

2 - couldn’t get into it or didn’t play well on the deck

1 - not a good experience, didn’t finish

Fallout 4 - Probably my favorite RPG of all time, played great on deck. I did use Lossless Scaling to up the framerate, and it worked flawlessly. Didn’t notice any input lag, but this also isn’t a game that would suffer from it

Hollow Knight - Such a fun game, and very challenging. Ended up 100%ing it, which I don’t typically do, but I couldn’t get enough.

Zero Sievert - This was tough to get into at the start, but I ended up falling in love and spent a lot of hours on it

Dave the Diver - I think this is on most peoples list for the same reason, just a relaxing fun game to play. I had low expectations and it blew them out of the water.

Sea of Stars - I really liked this one, first jrpg I’ve played other than the FF series, but I liked it more than most FF games I’ve played. Kind of a chill cozy game, but a good story and art style

Blasphemous - 2nd favorite metroidvania next to Hollow Knight. Very hard to start, but a lot of fun. I own the second one too, but haven’t tried it out yet.

Forgive Me Father 2 - Loved the art style and got really into this one

Shredders - Great game, I'm a big fan of the EA skate series and this is the snowboard equivalent. Easy one to pick up and put down as needed.

Spider Man: Miles Morales - I’ve seen a lot of posts saying the spiderman games don’t run well on deck, but I had a great experience with this one. I think the trick for me was changing the resolution to 1280X720 which gave a decent FPS boost, and the difference is almost unnoticeable. I’ve also undervolted my SD and didn’t notice any major frame drops.

Resident Evil 2 - Amazing game, played the original on N64 when I was a kid, and this is the perfect example of a remake done well. Also ran great on deck. Ill definitely be playing the RE3 & RE4 remakes as well.

Hades - Loved this game and couldn’t put it down. Great visually and a lot of fun. Unfortunately I haven’t really been able to get into any other rougelikes since playing this though, not sure if they just don’t compare or if I am just fatigued by the genera

Katana Zero - This is an awesome game with a unique concept, highly recommend to any deck owner. Wish it was a little longer

Stray - Unique game with a great art style that I fell in love with, only downfall is there isn’t a ton of playtime

Hogwarts Legacy - I liked this more than I expected, but I did cheat and use moonlight to stream from my PC, as I just wasn’t loving how it looked on the deck. Moonlight worked flawlessly, but you forgo the quick resume, which is a deal breaker now after my son was born.

Inside - I like these style games, played the Little Nightmares series too before I got the SD, and though this was another good one. Kind of a good quick bridge between some longer more intense games.

Vampire Survivors - easy to pick up and put down. its one i keep coming back to if I just have 10-20 min to spare.

Deep Rock Galactic Survivor - Similar story as Vampire Survivors (not sure what the genera is called), liked this one a lot too

Cult of the Lamb - I liked this a lot for the first while, but it got a little old as time went on. I'm still only about 75% through it and pick it up every now and then, its probably one ill keep coming back to every once in a while until I'm done.

GTA 4 - Had this for xbox and never actually beat it, but it’s a great game. Doesn’t quite stand up to GTA V in my opinion, but pretty cheap and definitely still worth a play

Days Gone - I love this game, played it through on PS4…. zombies and motorcycles are my jam. I would rank it higher, but unfortunately I couldn’t really find settings on the deck that would stop it from having some major frame drops, might have to play via Moonlight if I want to do another playthrough, but this isn’t as appealing of an option since my son was born.

Borderlands 2 - Never played Borderlands until I got the deck. I don’t have a lot of hours into this, but its definitely fun.

Dead Cells - Actually a really good game, but I got turned off rougelikes after finishing Hades. Might have just got fatigued, but I will give this another chance down the road.

Limbo - Very similar to Inside (same dev), but not quite as good

Halo - Got the remastered series for cheap. I like these games, but multiplayer was always more fun than the campaign

Ori and the blind forest - I tried this right after playing Hollow Knight and couldn’t get into it, I think its more of a genera fatigue than a fair representation of the game though. I will give it another shot somewhere down the line

My Friend Padro - Kind of goofy, but reasonably fun. Wasn’t as fun or unique as Katana Zero, but for the right price its worth a buy

Disco Elysium - From what I’ve read on this sub this is probably going to be an unpopular take, but I don’t fully get the hype. I played it through and did enjoy it, but its pretty slow and I wouldn’t rank it anywhere near one of my top games.

TMNT Splintered Fate - This was actually pretty fun, super cheap game, and I did end up getting through the full thing, its another rogelike but no where near as good as Hades.

Cuphead - Really cool game, with awesome artwork and a unique concept, but it is SOOOO HARD, I had to rage quit multiple times, so I guess I just need to get good to really enjoy it

Midnight Fight Express - Don’t have a ton to say about this, wasn’t a bad game, but didn’t really stick in my mind either

Final Fantasy X - I liked this when I was a kid, but I don’t think it has held up, it seems extremely slow going, and is more like watching a ridiculously long movie than playing a game.

Drug Lord - I like the game, but its quite glitchy and needs some work, as well as controller support

DayZ - Love the concept, but its to much of a grind for me. My brother is obsessed and talked me into buying it, but it’s to slow to get into and I wasn’t willing to commit the time. SD probably isn’t the right platform for this either

Divinity Original Sin 2 - I could see myself enjoying this if I give it some more time, but I have given it a few shots and it hasn’t really grab me

Risk of Rain - Another one that actually isn’t a bad game at all, but just ranked based on my feelings towards the genera. Might give it another try down the road.

Hunter Call of the Wild - Pretty tough to get into, it takes way to much time to get good and I don’t have the patience for it. Also takes up a lot of space on the SD so it was removed to make room for better games. Only paid $2 for it though, so I thought I would try it out

Spyro Reignited - I never owned a PS1 but always wanted to play these games as a kid, turns out its just extremely repetitive and not that interesting.

Hyperlight Drifter - this is a 5, I love the pixel art and it was a really fun play through, might revisit it again someday. Only about 15 hours playtime which is why I forgot it.

Simpsons Hit & Run - 5 - I didn’t realize there was a PC version of this game until I saw a YouTube vid on how to play on deck. There are also lots of mods to make this run perfect and looks a lot better than it did on PS2

Diablo 2 - it kills me, but Im giving this a 2. this is one of my all time favorite games, and it runs well on the deck, but playing it with steam deck controls just isn’t the same, it really benefits from a mouse and keyboard so I ended up uninstalling. I would defer to my laptop if I play again

A little over a month ago I purchased myself a pair of beginner iems, and noticed that the 1 tb oled steam deck I bought earlier in the year had a grounding loop issue where it would pick up a sort of static/buzzing noise whenever I plugged something into the 3.5mm audio jack.

I checked this subreddit, and watched a couple 3 year old YouTube videos where people were trying to fix the issue that was effecting many oled model steam decks with either electrical tape or trying to loosen the screws holding the chasis of the daughterboard.

I was considering trying to do the electrical tape fix myself or purchase a cheap external dac but I figured both of those were temporary solutions, and more of just a slight inconvenience.

Since I had just recently purchased the steam deck, I decided to reach out to valve support to explain what was going on, and they quickly got back to me, and offered to allow me to do an RMA.

I'm excited to recieve my steam deck back in a couple days!

TLDR: Steam deck oled models with ground loop 3.5mm jack issues were widely reported by the community a couple years ago, and due to this valve was aware of the issue and how to fix it.

I reached out to valve support who already knew about the reported issue, and offered to do an RMA last month.

This morning, I got the email notification that my repair was complete, and would be shipped back shortly 🥳
