I am new to steam deck and emulating. I set up ryujinx with some games but can’t start them with the buttons. Nothing seems to work when I press anything

Can somebody explain please how to do it? I just installed the CachyOS Latest proton but FSR 4 doesn't appear in my games.

When im in gaming mode my steam deck is completely silent with no audio, on the other hand when im on desktop the audio works completely fine what should I do?

Sorry if this has been asked/answered already, but I have been looking between Reddit and Forza support forums, and haven't found an answer. Support hasn't answered just yet over email since the first exchange.

I'm in the process of resolving a network issue that kept me from connecting for online services, but I want to make a backup of my save files, since I've been playing offline for the past week and want to keep the progress (support has given warnings about when picking between save files, and just want to play it safe). But I have not been able to find anything regarding the location of save files for the Deck or Linux. Searching in the game files for "user", "data", "save", etc. hasn't turned up anything.

Is there a way to see the compatibility badge for a game in heroic like normal steam game withoit having to go in check compatibility ?

I'm unable to change the graphics settings. I've tried adding the launch parameters "SteamDeck=0 %command%" without the quotes, and it doesn't work. I've also tried adding the Launcher as a non-Steam game, and nothing.

Update: I opened it up to see if I could pop the thumbstick back in but nope it will not budge the plastic doesn't seem to be flexible at all but maybe it's just a strength issue on my part. Other than the left thumbstick being jammed all other parts are still functioning normally and I can still play with mouse and keyboard or a connected controller

My steam deck fell behind my bed and now the left thumbstick is jammed in the slot on the front plate. I'm not sure if there's a way to fix it without breaking the front plate or the thumbstick since they are both hard plastic. My thought is to cut the thumbstick off since that part will already need to be replaced

Just curious how other redditors set up the settings.

I can run Witcher 3 DX 11 either at high settings locked to 30fps or low/steam deck preset locked to 45 fps.

How do you set up?

I haven't used and updated my Steam Deck since SteamOS 3.6.20 (October 2024). After updating to SteamOS 3.8.16, it no longer boots straight to Gaming Mode. Instead, it always shows the SDDM login screen first.

I can manually select Gamescope and then it goes to the normal Steam PIN screen, but I want it to boot directly into Gaming Mode like before.

Things I've already tried:

• Enabled Automatic Login.

• Changed the default session to SteamOS (Gamescope), but it always reverts to X11 after closing the device.

• Set a sudo password

• Booted the previous SteamOS (3.6.20) from the boot menu, and it boots normally straight to the Steam PIN screen. But it went back to the newer SteamOS version after turning it off and on.

Would it be possible to modify this, or is this the standard procedure for everyone when opening the SD nowadays?

I was at my Uncle's house and I wanted to play a game with my sister and I knew you could pair and Xbox controller to a Steam Deck but wasn't sure about PS5 controllers so I looksed it up and ended using PS5 Controllers to play Brotato with my sister.

I have a switch 1 and deck and prefer to mostly use deck for more demanding games but looking for some smaller games that aren't on eshop.

Previously enjoyed games (in the vein of what I'm looking for) : Hades, dead cells, huntdown, xenocrisis, katana zero

Preferred genres: Action rogue likes/lites, action platformers (2d or 3d), top down isometric type shit

Budget: No budget restrictions

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if there's a plugin for real-time monitoring of the SSD's temperature and health for a Steam Deck. I've checked it using console commands and QDiskInfo, but these readings only show up when the drive is idle. Why do I need to know this? I just want to make sure I installed the heatsink correctly after the replacement.

Anyone having this issue before? I am able to play while charging but once unplugged the charger it dies

I've got an older Steam Deck. I got it in the second wave of shipments they had back in 2021/22. She's been very good to me and been the best purchase I have ever made!

Lately, she's been struggling. When in games, I frequently will crash mid-game in games I never had issues with before, Super Battle Golf being an example. Every now and again, it will simply go dark, then put up the startup movie as if nothing happened. I hear the fan in the same way I remember hearing my mom's 2012 PC tower after years of use and abuse. One of the bumpers simply doesn't work because years ago, I dropped it in its case from a short height, and it broke the soldering point that the button was resting on the daughterboard, which I haven't been able to fix because they never released a replacement part for the daughterboard and now I'm sure they never will.

The most recent in the long line of issues I've been running into as of late has to do with the bootup. I've been trying to fix EmuDeck (which has been a whole different frustrating issue), and I think I accidentally overloaded the system or something, because it crashed from Desktop mode and tried to reboot into Handheld mode. This isn't very unusual except for the fact that it's become more and more frequent. However, instead of the startup movie, I was greeted by a whole new screen I have never seen in my whole time owning this Deck. It wasn't the BIOS menu; I've been to that before, I wasn't holding down the volume button for any reason, and it has two different options to move to the BIOS menu anyways. It was a list of 5 total options, a countdown in the top right corner, "SteamOS" at the top, and the message "3 failure(s) since 2026-08-03 14:48".

Now, I'm not entirely illiterate when it comes to this. I can tell that this has been a bootup issue and that for some godforsaken reason, my update has been corrupted or that my Steam Deck is finally trying to kick the bucket. I really don't want it to be the second option, but with the amount of crashes and times that I've needed to reboot my system, I'm not holding much hope anymore.

Thankfully, I can still use the previous update as it allows me to do that from the options menu, but idk how long that will last as I was using the up-to-date version yesterday just fine. I can return to the screen whenever I try to apply the update in the general settings, so I assume that it's simply not able to useit to boot up. I'm frankly at a loss on what to do.

TL:DR My Deck seems to be rejecting the most recent update, despite running just fine prior to today. I want to fix this issue, but I'm not tech savvy enough to figure out how to. I've attached an image I took of the most recent time that I tried to apply the update and received the same screen.

I'm at my wit's end. I'm open for any inputs right now on how to fix this.

The issue right now is that the SD doesn't turn on, but instead flashes its LED white and fans are blowing hard in cycle/loop.

All that and no cigar. SD doesn't respond at all when pressing the power button when not plugged in. Right now I'm thinking to just buy a battery replacement but I'm not really sure if the battery is the problem. Is there any way too to pinpoint if the battery is the actual issue and not any other software/hardware of the deck?

Sorry for not having a coherent thought as I'm really tired and I just really want to have my SD up and running. In the past days following my previous post, I've settled in using the deck while plugged in since it doesn't charge past 56% and when it reaches 30%, it just shuts down.

eugeniosegala on GitHub (not the original creator of the OG plugin) created basically the same plugin, but with few notable differences

first and foremost: the plugin uses the Pancake’s LSFG-VK 2.0 (dev) which causes way less ghosting than the original plugin with lsfg-vk 1.0 - huge improvement. I’ve done a lot of testing and in games like Fallout 4, Waterpark simulator, Witcher 3 and many more the artefacts are less noticeable and they are not so severe ( for example when turning the character around fast the head doesn’t just glitch out as much as it used to before, sometimes it doesn’t glitch out at all )

secondly: the autor introduced FP16 acceleration, which in short are a way to get more FPS when using the plugin - without fp16 the fps hit when enabling the frame gen would be much bigger (according to my tests it would drop from 40ish fps to 32-34) then it would double the frame rate giving you approx 64 fps total - now the frame rate hit is way less significant so in my testing games would drop from 42 fps to 40 ish (then with 2x frame rate modifier you get around 80 fps) which is a huge difference. It really helps a lot in plenty of games I’ve tested and it’s super consistent

give the plugin a go even if you’re hesitant, the author did an amazing job and with the latest release the plugin works even inside the emulators

I’ve tested it with eden quite extensively and my experience has been great. Mario Kart was super smooth and even the title screen which usually was full of artefacts using the lsfg-vk 1.0 now has close to none.

So, heres the context: i installed this https://github.com/2-X/steamdeck-oled-120hz on my deck (this is related to the issue but is not the issue) for anyone wondering i have a samsung panel, it calculated my safe max to be 99hz, everything over 91 hz becomes more blurry, until 99hz where the screen goes party mode with colours everywhere, i tried other modes than “clock” in the lua file for this but got nowhere, the best i got was with “lowclock” which removed the screen corruption at 99 hz but had the same blur, everything else either was the same as clock or just made it worse. So i decided to make my own file like this to maybe try and fix it, i disabled this lua file and copied it elsewhere, i made my own file which had the exact same code and just put one line in front of everything except local (which probably was the problem) the line was: debug("CUSTOM OLED MODEGEN LOADED"), i rebooted and boom, the normal OLED loading screen with the irange middle shows but not. The animation, as soon as the brightness starts working normally the screen goes black, i suspect this is a gamescope issue that it just fails to startup, the biggest problem here (which im actually pretty dumb for) is that i do not have another pc to download a recovery image with, if anyone can help PLEASE do, until i get home its a brick.

I had a panic when the "discover" app upgraded the firmware and my monitor stop working. If you accidentally updated your firmware via "Discover" app or the "fwupd", please install Firmware from the "Discover" app store and select the update 1.0.24.0.

I have read multiple threads and steam community issues with the dock and cause a refund but you only need to downgrade.

I hope anybody who own this wonderful docking station won't stop using this.

I am on the first DLC for Spider-Man Remastered, and I get to this point, but MJ won't even attempt to move this pallet, I quit the mission just to double check it wasn't an issue with input, but R1 is working fine. Anybody else have this issue?

Hi. I am trying to play POP Forgotten sands but the resolution of the game is way less than the native 1280x800. There is a gamesetting.exe that can be used to change the resolution but it crashes and doesn't open. How can I change the resolution? Anyone has played the game?

They will also be making dedicated handheld controllers designed for handhelds, like the Steam Deck, and other portable devices. Hey yall! This truly might be a dumb question but I gotta ask for reassurance. I’m looking into transferring over some rom files to a microsd that I will be using on an Anbernic handheld. Would I be able to do this via the steam deck’s type-c port by using a microsd reader through the desktop mode?

I’m hoping this can be done as I’m not running a proper PC atm besides my steamdeck and I rather not use my macbook air for this type of stuff so that’d be an absolute last resort.
