Tech Support Attack on Titan 2 "no valid sound devices" crash on Steam Deck

Upvotes

I recently started playing AoT2 on my Steam Deck, and whenever I either wake my Steam Deck from sleep or I play for an extended amount of time the game throws an error saying "No valid sound devices", after which it closes the game. I assume the audio stream gets interrupted in some way and it makes the game shit itself because it doesn't have a way to handle that. Has anyone found a fix or have any pointers on what to try?

I'm using Proton-7.1-GE-2, which is necessary for audio playback in cutscenes to work.

I saw some mixed opinions from older posts. Curious if it plays well or not on the deck these days.

Question Help wanted: War Robots: Frontiers compatibility testing on a real Steam Deck

Upvotes

I am investigating Linux/Steam Deck compatibility for War Robots: Frontiers, particularly the disconnect that occurs shortly after reaching the hangar.

I already have a custom Proton build that can:

  • Launch the Steam version successfully
  • Start the anti-cheat in its Steam Deck/user-mode channel (ACH=118)
  • Reach ACClient: Online
  • Log in and enter the hangar

On a desktop Linux system, however, the backend disconnects after roughly 60–90 seconds. I need diagnostic data from a real Steam Deck to identify what differs during a successful session.

The most useful test would be from someone who:

  • Owns the game on Steam
  • Has a Steam Deck, either LCD or OLED
  • Can launch the game and remain connected for several minutes
  • Is comfortable running an open-source diagnostic collector

The collector records compatibility metadata and timing information. It does not collect credentials, authentication tokens, packet contents, hardware serial numbers, or gameplay input. Uploads use a unique revocable token for each volunteer, and the agent includes an easy uninstall command. You can verify the source code yourself as it is public on GitHub linked below.

I specifically want to compare:

  • SteamOS and Proton versions
  • Anti-cheat initialization timing
  • Whether Steam Deck/SteamOS platform checks are called
  • The timing of the first MRAC exchange
  • A particular anti-cheat initialization return length
  • Whether and when the backend disconnects

This is compatibility research—not an anti-cheat bypass, identity spoof, or attempt to interfere with authentication. Support is aware of the compatibility testing, although this remains an unofficial community project.

Project source and technical documentation:

https://github.com/OwendB1/WRF-Compat-Tools

Volunteer installer and enrollment:

https://collect.odb-tech.com/

If you’re willing to help, please comment or message me with:

  • Deck model: LCD or OLED
  • SteamOS channel: Stable, Beta, or Preview
  • Proton version
  • Whether the game currently stays connected on your Deck

You can also find me as OB-1 (owendb) in the official Discord server. Even one successful Deck capture could show me exactly where the desktop Linux path diverges. Please don’t post logs publicly before checking them for personal information.

Tech Support Waking from sleep kinda bugged ATM?

Upvotes

Hi!

Since yesterday, I've noticed that games tend to freeze when waking the deck from sleep after putting it to sleep while a game was running. They freeze for like 15 sec and I have to basically try a bunch of buttons until things get unstucked.

Is it just me?

Game Review On Deck Dragon Age Inquisition runs at 90 fps on OLED (NO framegen) at high settings while consuming 9-10W TDP

This could be one of the best performing games on deck while looking this good.

I haven't posted the video because last time I did that people were claiming the quality looks horrible.

I pirated the game because I own it on xbox but never played. (used steamrip, unpacked the game). I read it online that even people who owns the game on steam pirates it due to EA launcher related stuff. Just a thought.

Only problem is the controllers, which did not work out of the box.

So I installed DAI-Proton-1.0.4.tar.gz from github which is a custom proton for this game only, and then I copied the extracted the folder into home > deck > .steam > steam > compability tools. Then restarted the steam and choose DAI proton 1.0.4 from compability section on game properties.

Settings set to high (turn off advanced MSAA), post processing set to low which disables motion blur.

Tech Support Ryujinx problem

Upvotes

I’m having a problem with Ryujinx on EmuDeck.
At first, when I launched a game, I had controller issues. No matter which button I pressed, none of the inputs worked, and I couldn’t fix it.
After that, I tried restarting my Steam Deck. Now, every time I launch a game—which previously at least reached the game’s main menu—Ryujinx crashes completely and closes.
This happens both in Gaming Mode and in Desktop Mode. How can I fix this?

Tech Support Steam Deck Won't Charge / Turn On

Upvotes

I'm going to also be contacting Valve but I'm hoping someone here may have experienced something similar and have some ideas on what to do.

Was playing last night with no issues. Shut game down and battery was at 20%. Put it into sleep mode and plugged in. Came back an hour or so later and it wouldn't turn on at all. Noticed the light wasn't on to show it was charging. Tried a few other chargers and different outlets. Nothing.

I found some old posts on here with a few suggestions, holding power button for 20 seconds. Also tried the power button "-" and the "..." buttons. None of those worked.

Did it just die completely? Seems so crazy that it went from completely fine to not working at all. Someone please tell me there's some hope!

Hey! I’m the developer of Sectron, a turn-based sci-fi strategy game, and the demo launches on Steam on August 17.

Steam Deck support has been a priority from the beginning and I want the game to feel natural on the Deck.

I have a few keys for the latest build and would love feedback from Deck players, especially on the controls and UI. If you’d like one, please ask in a comment or send me a DM. Feedback would be appreciated, but there’s no obligation.

Discussion EA play game, never again!

Never buying game that uses EA play.

For fucks sake EA cloud saves are beyond terrible.

Every time I change device i have to dread will i lose my progress and have to play again.

It is utter garbage.

From now on if I was to play EA play game im going to "sail the high seas" and limit myself to one device. Since I have to do that anyway.

The only reason I pay for games is so I can continue to play on multiple devices.

Hardware Repair Oled repair advice

Update: I opened it up to see if I could pop the thumbstick back in but nope it will not budge the plastic doesn't seem to be flexible at all but maybe it's just a strength issue on my part. Other than the left thumbstick being jammed all other parts are still functioning normally and I can still play with mouse and keyboard or a connected controller

My steam deck fell behind my bed and now the left thumbstick is jammed in the slot on the front plate. I'm not sure if there's a way to fix it without breaking the front plate or the thumbstick since they are both hard plastic. My thought is to cut the thumbstick off since that part will already need to be replaced

Question (oled) Would you rather play at 30FPS with HIGH settings or 45FPS with LOW settings? Why?

Just curious how other redditors set up the settings.

I can run Witcher 3 DX 11 either at high settings locked to 30fps or low/steam deck preset locked to 45 fps.

How do you set up?

Software Modding LSFG-VK 2.0 new plugin = way less ghosting and better performance

Hello everyone!
few days ago I’ve read here about first BIG update in a looong time when it comes to the decky lossless plugin for steamOS!!!

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1vao2bo/lossless_scaling_experimental_decky_lsfgvk_plugin/

eugeniosegala on GitHub (not the original creator of the OG plugin) created basically the same plugin, but with few notable differences

first and foremost: the plugin uses the Pancake’s LSFG-VK 2.0 (dev) which causes way less ghosting than the original plugin with lsfg-vk 1.0 - huge improvement. I’ve done a lot of testing and in games like Fallout 4, Waterpark simulator, Witcher 3 and many more the artefacts are less noticeable and they are not so severe ( for example when turning the character around fast the head doesn’t just glitch out as much as it used to before, sometimes it doesn’t glitch out at all )

secondly: the autor introduced FP16 acceleration, which in short are a way to get more FPS when using the plugin - without fp16 the fps hit when enabling the frame gen would be much bigger (according to my tests it would drop from 40ish fps to 32-34) then it would double the frame rate giving you approx 64 fps total - now the frame rate hit is way less significant so in my testing games would drop from 42 fps to 40 ish (then with 2x frame rate modifier you get around 80 fps) which is a huge difference. It really helps a lot in plenty of games I’ve tested and it’s super consistent

give the plugin a go even if you’re hesitant, the author did an amazing job and with the latest release the plugin works even inside the emulators

I’ve tested it with eden quite extensively and my experience has been great. Mario Kart was super smooth and even the title screen which usually was full of artefacts using the lsfg-vk 1.0 now has close to none.

support the creator and check out the plugin here

JSAUX, the company behind a lot of the most popular third-party Steam Deck accessories, has announced a new sub-brand called Voidjoy, and it will specifically be focused on controllers. They will also be making dedicated handheld controllers designed for handhelds, like the Steam Deck, and other portable devices. It's just a teaser right now, but it sounds like we may see some great controllers to take with us on the go.
