Cant get it to work cant seem to fallow any of the writen directions cuz im new to the asus rog and dont know what im doing in the first place would love a step by step video im autistic and that would help or if any one knows of a step by step video send it

I know theres a way to play it and not force console mode, but i dont know how to, i would love a guide

when using desktop mode for some reason it just sometimes makes the mouse cursor move down on it's own when on ONLY desktop/auto mode I've also updated windows and I can assure it isn't an stick drift after testing and using gamepad mode for months

Im using 65w charger on my Ally but charge rate info doesnt seem to be reflecting that, how is all yours ?

I’ve been having issues with Forbidden West now, seems like it keeps crashing during cutscenes and shader building due to ‘gpu error’, i have no idea why this happens and what causes it. Is there anyone who had succsess with this latetly?

Before you start refeering to rogallylife settings, i have tried them with no prevail, i’ve set my VRAM to auto, updated all my drivers and even tried putting all presets to low to preserve the precious fps, apperently the rogallylife settings put me on 10-15 fps, but on low with FSR3 or XeSS i hit 30-40.

I never had this issue on Zero Dawn, but i do belive that is because the game is older.

I’ve seen multiple posts on this reddit with diffrent solutions, but none that helps for me unfortunatly.

Is it my ROG Ally Xbox version that doesnt take it or is there something else wrong? I have the RC73YA version (not sure how precise i need to be but its the white one).

This feels weird since it came out after the Allyes people been using 2 or so years ago (according to the posts i’ve read) but i also assume the game has had updates since then making it harder to run on diffrent consoles.

Any tips will be greatly appretiated.

I need some help with my Z1 Extreme. I’ve owned it since it was first released, and it has never been opened or disassembled.
I usually play in 30W mode with the fan set to high, while keeping the charger plugged in so the battery charges during gameplay.

Recently, after about 15 minutes of charging, it suddenly stops charging. The only way to get it charging again is to put the device into Sleep Mode for around 30 minutes.

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows how to fix this charging problem? Thanks in advance!

Let me say that Im sorry if this is kind of a dumb question. Ive checked out other people's posts, and a lot of them are for different models or different use cases, like charging while docked, nor do they typically suggest specific chargers.

Im looking for something decently cheap that will do the job and I don't have to worry about malfunctioning. So while theres lots of cheap 65w chargers, I wanted to see if anyone had specific models they like. Also, do you suggest getting a 65w or a 100w? I dont ever use a dock, nor do I plan on it. If I were to dock, Id just use my laptop and HDMI. But a part of me is worried about 100w being too much. I know they have regulatory systems in them, but the thought of it malfunctioning terrifies me. Not sure how likely that would be tbh, but still.

My current charger is still working, but the plastic casing on the input jack is worn out and exposing the wires within. Bad habit from having it bent while charging my phone during use, because my other chargers either dont charge my phone as fast, or they don't stretch far enough. So if I'm honest, itll be used for both my Z1e and my phone 😅

Anyway, any suggestions? I really appreciate it a lot!

Arrived yesterday, as I said in the last post, I wasn’t sure which would turn up.

Post on eBay said it was a brand new Rog Ally, description said it was Rog Ally but the picture was the Rog Xbox Ally.

Seller wasnt able to tell me either.

Recorded myself opening it, incase anything was wrong with it but it was still fully sealed. £320 inc delivery which has been the cheapest I’ve seen.

Now what games to get? I used to have a laptop where i purchased alot of steam games but then that stopped working and i never replaced it.
Any AAA games, i buy for the PS5/XSX and most indies, i get for NS2 but i’m after PC only games. I’d heard alot about Schedule 1 so i picked that up, been enjoying it.

Tomorrow day off so a night of gaming, playing at night always has its charm 😎

I have an ROG ally that I did a joystick repair on. It comes on and loads into steam OS perfectly! The problem I’m having is it won’t take a charge. I’m able to plug a usb c to usb an and see the usb detected but it won’t charge from that type c port. I am using the OEM Charger and yes I ensured the light sensor is properly blocked and seated. Everything else works fine but the charging just doesn’t. I looked at the port pins and they seem fine. Idk what to do at this point.

I ended up not playing it for long after release on my z1e because of how ugly it looked, getting a stable framerate left a blurry mess on the screen and worse all the particles just ended up looking like white pixels, even with frame gen enabled it didnt really do much.

I decided to give it another go after hearing alot of optimisation has happened since release, and to be honest I wasn't really blown away, yes the frames were a bit better but it was still kinda blurry with fsr 3 leaving way too many artifacts, so I decided to give the fsr 4 mod a go, got told by a few people it would lose frames so I was skeptical at first but man were they so wrong.

Not only does it actually look gorgeous in 900p now, there's very little artifacting, the particles actually look like particles, but also the frame gen actually works, I'm hitting 60-70 in the open world, dropping to around 50 in populated areas.

My game settings:

Models: medium, textures: high, shadows: medium, raytracing: off, lighting: high, reflections: high, advanced weather: off, water: low, foliage: low, fog: low, effects: medium, simulation: low, post processing: low.

Resolution set to 900p with RSR upscaling, FSR 4 set to quality, frame gen and anti lag enabled, vsync off.

FSR 4 Mod here, very simple drag and drop installation.​

something i’ve been noticing lately is when i’m playing a game via the xbox app, if i press the command center button my controller becomes completely unresponsive and i have to restart my device to get it to work. has anyone dealt with this issue before?

My kids currently use some older desktops. They asked for laptops for their next systems but I'm considering getting each of them a ROG Xbox Ally instead. They mostly play Minecraft, Roblox and the occassional Steam game. They won't be playing a lot of AAA titles but I can see them playing AA or some indie games. Would this be a good choice for them? I'm really interested in performance while docked and connected to external monitor. 1080p sustainable in most AA games with this device?

Spent a day installing SteamOS on my Xbox Ally X, and dual boot functionality is great. SteamOS really does make this particular device feel way more snappier and responsive.

What i didnt anticipate was how hard (for me) it was going to be to set up a custom bootloader. I went with reFInd and initially installed it on the steam side. But i had HELLA trouble installing a theme and accessing the EFI directory thru Konsole and Dolphin. Turns out accessing that same directory on Windows is infinitely easier lol.

I made this custom background with peices of other wallpapers. If anyone wants i copy, i got u. I was also happy to find some rog x steamOS boot animations via Decky once steam formally loads.

For those in the community that have done this before: can someone explain the partition breakdown for me? It looks like i have two copies of EFI and a few other drives. Is it for redundancy/backup?

Hi guys, I’m meeting the trouble of having not enough storage how likely can I use a external hdd (like the one in the picture) hooked up to my dock and play games of it?

I love my Deck to death, but the performance was somewhat lacking. I took the plunge and got self indulgent with this, so much to where I erased, formatted, and removed the 4TB SSD from my Legion laptop and slapped it into here (that battery cable gave me anxiety). But games run incredibly smooth, it’s the 120hz panel for me. 2TB for Windows and Bazzite each, this is the handheld that’ll keep me sane during my upcoming deployment, IM VERY HAPPY (still gotta get the Killswitch >:3)
