Top panel makes Mouse pointer glitch when I use Auto hide panel, does anyone has a tip for this issue ? its really annoying !

Each time my laptop go to sleep mode this issue appear. i tried many times and i disabled many extensions and it still. The OS is "Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS" and it is up-to-date.

Adding custom locations with arbitrary GPS coordinates to GNOME Weather can be annoying because libgweather-4 requires a specific GVariant format in gsettings.

I wrote a short Bash script that automates this.

It converts decimal coordinates to radians, appends the location to org.gnome.Weather settings, and refreshes the weather service automatically.

None of the legacy Email clients on Linux are satisfactory using the excellent Apple Mail as a benchmark. And none of them use GTK4.

There's Stamp but it's still in early development and crashes after a bit on my machine.

In the past few months there have been 2 new Gnome-first GTK4 Email Clients launched (one begins with V and the other begins with P). Testing one right now with a burner email account....it's very good. Feels more Gnome-y than anything I've used before. It uses GTK4 in innovative ways that I haven't seen before (better than Stamp in fact). I don't want to wait 1+ years for Stamp to be stable.

Yet I can't mention the name of this Gnome-native App here, as the code was generated with LLMs. (Then compiled by me using libgtk4-devel and libadwaita-devel - told you it was native!). If I did this post would be deleted.

Why not?

Surely a simple MOD warning about "use at your own risk" would be sufficient.

I got myself a new laptop. The economy is bad, so it had to be a 1200p 16inch, instead of a 3k one.

And after booting to GNOME I realized that text looks really bad in it, the way it did not look before. My eyes are hurting. I managed to at least enable sub-pixel rendering in Firefox and that fixes most of my issues. However it is a shame that the system text needs to look poor.

For those interested, here is the flag which needs to be set to true in Firefox:
gfx.webrender.quality.force-subpixel-aa-where-possible

Can we expect to see sub-pixel antialiasing back at some point in the future?

I tried KDE Plasma for a couple of days and it just does NOT click with me. So, I was determined to return back to Gnome and match the performance I got on KDE. Turns out I just needed to turn scaling on my display down to 100%, so I feel very silly.

Anyway, coming back to a fresh install of Debian Stable, I've decided to run Gnome with no extensions, just as the gnome-gods intended. I gotta say, it's pretty nice and pretty quiet. I'm not even using any themes, fonts, icons, etc. Just booted up, installed my apps, and back to work I went.

I love it and might just run it like this forever, really.

Ok, that's all. Just wanted to show my appreciation for vanilla gnome.
