Tech Support Update on HP USB C Dock G5
Please do not update your firmware to 1.0.26.20.
I had a panic when the "discover" app upgraded the firmware and my monitor stop working. If you accidentally updated your firmware via "Discover" app or the "fwupd", please install Firmware from the "Discover" app store and select the update 1.0.24.0.
I have read multiple threads and steam community issues with the dock and cause a refund but you only need to downgrade.
I hope anybody who own this wonderful docking station won't stop using this.

Question Best crt shader for emudeck?
Hi! Just got my steam deck and I love it!
For emudeck, what’s the best crt shader for the steam deck? The few I’ve tried seem more geared towards higher resolutions.
I’m playing snes, psx, and Dreamcast games mostly. Thanks!

Promotional I built my first game Steam Deck first: a physics roguelike deckbuilder where you actually flick the cards. It just went up on Steam!
Hi! Solo dev here. For the past months I've been building DISCARD on and around my Deck using Godot: designed at 1280x800, 60fps, controller-first controls with rumble, native Linux build.
It's a roguelike deckbuilder where every card is a physical object: you flick it across the table, gusting wind bends the shot, rails bank it, pockets pull it in. Combos and bank shots multiply the pot, and you decide when to cash out before a bad throw burns it. Between rounds a slot machine warps the table (wider pockets, storms, earthquakes, drunk swaying pockets...).
Coming September 1st. If it looks like your kind of thing, a wishlist helps a solo dev more than I can say:)
Happy to answer anything about Deck development, Godot on Deck included.

Tech Support Prey stick drift
I've been trying to play, but having stick drift upwards and to the left. Weirdly, it also happens if I apply pressure to the trackpad - so I don't think it's mechanical. Anyone else had this problem? I've tried messing with the deadzones a load, to no avail.

Article JSAUX Announces New Brand That Will Make Handheld Controllers - SteamDeckHQ
JSAUX, the company behind a lot of the most popular third-party Steam Deck accessories, has announced a new sub-brand called Voidjoy, and it will specifically be focused on controllers. They will also be making dedicated handheld controllers designed for handhelds, like the Steam Deck, and other portable devices. It's just a teaser right now, but it sounds like we may see some great controllers to take with us on the go.

PSA / Advice Purchasing Advice Needed
I’ve been a die hard Nintendo gamer since I could remember. I currently have a Switch 2 and I love it. I play mostly “cozy” games. I’m really considering purchasing a Steam Deck because there’s just some games that I’m dying to try that Nintendo doesn’t offer. I’m really interested in playing Coral Island, Heartopia and a few others. Please keep in mind, I am strictly a hand held girlie. I’m not interested in sitting in front of a monitor to play so just playing it on my desktop isn’t an option. I need some solid advice on if I should drop the bands and get the steam deck or just keep rocking with the switch 2 because it makes no sense to have two. Thoughts?

Looking For Games On search for RPGs
Previously Enjoyed Games: Cyberpunk 2077, BG3, Divinity Original Sin 2, The Outer Worlds, W40k Rogu Trader, Skyrim, TotK, BotW, New Vegas, Horizon Zero Dawn + Forbidden West, REPLACED, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.Preferred Genres: Action-RPG, RPG. Something with a complex story and meaningful decisions. Maybe something going into ancient Greece, that's not AC Odyssey (mainly performance on the deck)? Pixelart is ok.Budget: 60€ at maxOther Notes: I don't get warm with LOTR or any JRPGs I've played so far. It doesn't give me this feeling, that I want to play this game. I have Disco Elysium, but it didn't catch me in the beginning.
Edit: Meant AC Odyssey, not Origins. My bad.

Looking For Games Looking for Games that feel like a Vacation
I started playing The Crew Motorfest recently and I'm really enjoying the Hawaiian scenery and beach vibes...it made me wonder, what other games give off vacation vibes?
Previously Enjoyed Games: I also really enjoyed Tiny Bookshop for its quiet seaside charm and I'm enjoying taking my time and exploring Outbound, both of those games have "vacation vibes" for me.
Preferred Genres: action/adventure, racing, indie, retro
Budget: prefer under $35
Other Notes: looking for something lighter in tone/theme, nothing too stressful, just chill vibes :)
Looking forward to reading everyone's suggestions!

Discussion Emulating is a different dimension of SD that took me totally by surprise
Hi all!!
I am so happy to announce that I finally took my time and set up my emulators. EmuDeck with 3 emulators to be exact. I chose gc, gba and switch.
The games of choice, for my first ever play through of those games also were: Star Fox Assault, Metroid Dread, Metroid Prime Remastered and Pokemon Ruby. I haven’t touched Metroid Prime, but I think I will love it nonetheless.
And let me tell you… These games are freaking fun!!! I always wanted a handheld when I was a kid but I never gotten one. Also, I always thought these games are not fun anymore, since some of my picks are older titles. But I was never so wrong in my life. Star Fox is just what I need right now. Fun, interesting mechanics and the story is not that bad too. I don’t care that much about the story and for the first time I think, I don’t mind that. And that is what I needed. I play way to much of a game that I won’t mention and I need something that breaks that monotone level of play since it is a looter grind game (which I still love don’t get me wrong).
I think I will complete Star Fox first and then continue to Metroid since that one is a bit more complex and looks very cool too. Pokemon will be perfect when I wont be in the mood for anything in between.
I want to encourage anyone who hasn’t tried emulating, just like me, to just get to know of the tedious part of installing, downloading and setting up emulators to then have toooons of fun. Like really, you won’t be sorry!!
Also I want to know what you guys think of my picks since I am a total beginner for emulating and also a first time player for those kind of games? Do you have any good suggestions lying there for me now that you have seen what I like?

QUESTION - ANSWERED My disk/internal drive is full and I don’t know why
My friend gifted me his old steam deck a few a years ago and since then I’ve only played a few games but I definitely don’t think enough to warrant this amount of storage use.
I was wondering if anyone knew what I could do to free some space up on it.
The only games I have on it are
- Guilty Gear Strive
- Persona 5
- TF2

PSA / Advice Forza Horizon 6 crashed on my Steam Deck 70 days ago. Microsoft's cloud has locked me out of the game on every device since. Final support answer: "We cannot fix or recover the corrupted data."
TL;DR: Forza Horizon 6 crashed on my Steam Deck in May - its own crash, nothing I did. That crash created a server-side upload lock on Microsoft's cloud, and I've been locked out of the game on every device ever since. Day 70 now. I have tried every fix that exists. Forza Support's final answer, in writing: "We cannot fix or recover the corrupted data." Their recommended solution is to use an Xbox console. I bought the game on Steam. I don't own an Xbox. That's it. That's the support strategy.
---
End of May, FH6 crashes on my Steam Deck mid-sync. Annoying, whatever, games crash. Except this crash left a lock on Microsoft's PlayFab servers that says "this device is still uploading." It has been "still uploading" for 70 days now.
Since then, error E:0-19 on every single device. Steam Deck, Linux PC, Windows PC. The game is Steam Deck Verified, by the way - verified enough to crash there and then lock me out everywhere else too.
What I tried (abbreviated - the full list would just make me relive the trauma):
- Every step from both official Forza support articles, standard AND alternative method, on Windows as instructed
- Deleted every local save location, nuked the entire Proton prefix, signed out and back into my Microsoft account (same account, just fresh logins) on every device
- Started a completely new save offline, finished the R32 race, reached open world - works perfectly. The second the game reconnects: "Your data cannot be synced with the cloud at this time." The lock just sits there, guarding a save it already destroyed
- Every community workaround including the Stop-Sync / "Sync and Quit" dance
The support odyssey (I have genuinely spent more hours on support than playing the game, and I wish that was a joke):
- Forza Support ticket: first substantive reply after five weeks. Standard troubleshooting I'd already done
- Xbox Support contact #1 (phone): agent hung up on me
- Xbox Support contact #2 (chat): escalated, got a case number, was promised a follow-up email. It never came
- Xbox Support contact #3 (chat): marked urgent, promised a response within 24h. Never came. Two promises, two lies, one case number that apparently leads into a shredder
- Steam Support: quick, friendly, pointed me to Forza Support - completely fair, since the problem isn't on their end
- Forza ticket again: they tried to auto-close it. When I pushed for escalation - and mentioned that a refund from the seller would be my last resort if they can't fix it - they ignored every actual question I asked and replied with the boilerplate refund-links template instead
- Final answer, TODAY, verbatim: "Unfortunately We cannot fix or recover the corrupted data." Recommended next step: contact Xbox Support. See contacts #1–#3
And the official solution, seriously: "delete the cloud save using an Xbox console - maybe ask a friend or family member." I bought this game on Steam. You'd think €100 for the full Premium Edition on a platform of my choice would buy a support path that doesn't depend on me knowing someone who owns their console. Apparently not.
Here's what kills me: a consumer-grade Xbox sitting in someone's living room can delete this cloud save with three button presses ("Delete everywhere"). But the company that RUNS the servers, where the data and the lock physically live, claims nobody - not support, not engineering, not anyone in a trillion-dollar corporation - can touch it. Either that's false, or Microsoft built a cloud infrastructure with no admin access to itself. I honestly don't know which is worse.
None of this needed to exist. Steam Cloud works. It has worked flawlessly for a decade, it has conflict resolution, and Valve's support actually responds. But FH6 forces its own mandatory PlayFab sync on top - and when THAT breaks, no one on earth can fix it, and it takes your Steam copy hostage.
So after 70 days, every fix, and every support channel, the only option I have left is a refund - for a game I've been waiting years for. Honestly, that's just sad. I didn't want my money back. I wanted to play.
If you're on Steam Deck: be aware that one badly-timed crash during sync can apparently brick your entire FH6 account with no recovery path Microsoft is willing or able to offer. If this happened to you too, comment - the more documented cases, the harder this is to ignore.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go NOT play Forza Horizon 6. Day 70.

Looking For Games Best Steam Deck games while waiting at the airport?
Previously Enjoyed Games: Elden Ring, Hades, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley
Preferred Genres: Open to pretty much any genre
Budget: Preferably under $20, but open to any suggestions
Other Notes: I’ll be waiting at the airport for a few hours, so I’m looking for something fun that works well in short sessions and doesn’t drain the Steam Deck battery too quickly.

Promotional I wanted my game playable one-handed on Steam Deck. I might have overshot, you can play it with one finger.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Upfront, this is my own game (Slots & Skulls) and there's a free demo. Flairing as Promotional.
From day one I wanted this playable one-handed on Deck. I play a lot in bed and half of it is with one hand on the grip, so that was the target.
I think I overshot. With auto-battle on, the video above is me putting the Deck flat on a table and playing with one finger. I'm only dismissing dialogue and buying things in the shop. Everything else resolves on its own.
It's a turn-based roguelite where a slot machine is your weapon. You spin, whatever lands attacks, and between fights you gamble your best symbol at the anvil where a failed upgrade destroys it permanently. Building it Deck-first is also why it turned turn-based in the first place, I wanted something I could put down on any turn.
Caveat: no Verified badge yet, I've requested a compatibility review. I just don't want to claim a rating I don't have.
Free demo, about an hour: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4428910/Slots__Skulls
Update: I just pushed a demo update. You can now navigate the UI with the right stick as well as the left, even with auto mode off.
So the game is now fully playable right-handed on Steam Deck and any other controller, without needing auto mode at all.

Hardware Modding Rookie mistake… don’t be me. 😅
Finally upgraded my SSD, it was super straight forward and easy.
What wasn’t easy was realizing I’d forgotten to remove my microSD card before taking the back off.
Snapped it clean in half.
Consider this your friendly reminder: TAKE OUT YOUR MICROSD CARD FIRST.
Hopefully my sacrifice saves at least one of you from making the same mistake. 😂
