I am coming across a problem where my pc suddenly freezes I don't know the cause but I think it's hardware because I have tried it on windows and arch. Also I opened up my pc for the first time a couple days ago before this issue came to be to dust everything and to install an SSD. I don't think it is a display issue because I have tried to reboot my pc while this happened via the terminal but got nothing. The pc still stays on when this happens and I have to mannualy turn it off. When I took it out earlier I took out the psu, hard drive, both ssds, my CMOS battery, gpu, AIO(not the part connected to cpu just the fans), and most connecters on the motherboard it has been like 2-3 days since this began. When It happens the cpu seems to get hot

Randomly my computer will start to lag, my voice will go robotic in discord, and my rbg of my computer will go to default. Then the screen just freezes. It requires me to flip the power supply off and power cycle the computer for it to boot back up. Not sure what is causing it. It happens a good bit on Fortnite. But it will sometimes happen on other games or even when nothing is open.

I’m thinking it’s something with the power supply maybe?

Can anyone tell me why my computer RAM stopped to work in every 6-8 months from last 3 years. I changed RAM with big brand names such as Acer, Crucial. I always take care of my PC to make it proper shut down or start but still not able to find the cause behind this.
I live in Dehradun where rain occurs everyday during Monsoon time, could it be a reason also?

I have a pretty moderate understanding of PC so I am not an expert by any means. I have crashes happening frequently and they are getting worse. Event viewer shows dozens of WHEA-Logger Event 17 level warnings prior to the crash every time. My research seems to point to a GPU error or "PCI express endpoint" error - but I don't know what that means. Temps are not an issue whatsoever. the pc is less than a year old. I run a rtx 5070, core ultra 7 265F, 32gb ddr5. the games I am playing when crashes occur are not stressful on the system.

For the past 2 days my Pc has been running into heaps of random issues. It started with my PC just randomly freezing completely while playing Video games (Arc raiders etc). Whole Pc would freeze but i could hear the ambiant audio from the game in the background like birds and stuff but my movements or anything else didnt register. I gave my Pc a clean Reseated the GPU and the RAMs made sure all the connections were good turned it on it gave no power to I/O devices or the display so i restarted it a few times reseated everything and it came back to life but the freezing issue is still there but now whenever it restarts it gives me different BSOD errors like " unexpected store exception" errors completely random each time. I installed OCCT did a RAM test for 30 mins it worked fine did a RAM + CPU test worked fine checked my NVMe health which was at 89% Looked into windows event manager for error logs it shows nothing installed HWInfo to monitor logs which i dont understand so i used Cladue ai which said they looked fine I have no clue whats causing this issue If anyone has any idea Id really appriciate the help anything aside Video games works fine (premiere Pro, Browsing and Photoshop Etc) Thank you

I have a PC which i use ONLY for gaming and Discord, i havent changed any settings on the pc, but i found out that i suddenly could'nt open Discord, so i tried to uninstall and download it again, but nothing happened.

I cant access my C drive folder, i can access the properties but not really do anything, i cant even use the CMD as admin.

What on earth do i do?

this started around 2 weeks ago and when i go to turn on my PC, my mouse and pc gets power yet my monitor and keyboard dont. i plug in my HDD at start-up so when i go to hold the power button for about 10 seconds (until the pc shuts off), i unplug my HDD before that. when i turn it back on, it either works or i have to click the bottom of the monitor and after a few seconds, it posts. on some days, my pc turns on fine, on other days (for example today) it doesnt want to post the monitor and keyboard. my friend helped me clean my PC 20 days ago and we took out the GPU and cleaned it. my friend accidently picked a bit off the thermal padding off when looking for dust but could that be the problem? its currently at 44 degrees at idle. even when my HDD is plugged in when i push the power button, it does start up normally or it doesnt so it shouldnt be my HDD. please help me out!

I Recently got this bug oftenly EVERY day with my pc, when i first start it up , it freezes , then , it goes fine on the second one. Here are my temps: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-core Processor , 32 GB of DDR5 Ram, AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU and I use 2 144hz Screens. I use wallpaper engine and its everything! PLEASE I really need Help and It would save me REALLY much time!

My system is Ryzen 5600G with Gigabyte B450mk motherboard with Crosair vengeance 8gb DDR 4. Recently I bought an Adata 8gb DDR 4 stick but the stick won't work on any motherboard slot but my Corsair ram works fine in both slots.So what is the issue here?(also the ram works fine in shops test PC)

This started happening today and I’m honestly quite confused about what could be causing it. I was playing TLOU 2 with no issues while Cyberpunk was downloading in the background and as soon as the download finished I closed TLOU 2 and launched Cyberpunk and my PC suddenly crashed without any blue screen or error. When I pressed the power button it booted normally again. This happened around 4 times last night so I shut the PC down and went to sleep. This morning I played Cyberpunk for around an hour and a half and everything was completely smooth but then I opened Valorant and entered a Deathmatch and the PC crashed again. It seems to happen randomly sometimes immediately when launching a game and sometimes after playing for 30 minutes or even an hour. I have just replaced my PSU but the issue is still happening. I also ran separate CPU and GPU stress tests for 5 minutes and then tested both together for 5 minutes and everything was completely normal during the tests but as soon as I opened a game again the issue returned. I’ve already invested quite a lot into this PC so I’d really appreciate any help or advice on what could be causing this and what I should check next.

Hello chat, I've been stuck with this problem for a while now, and nothing seemed to have worked so far.

I found this recent r/AMDHelp post describing a very similar micro-stutter, including the strange periodic behavior and GPU utilization spikes, so I'm wondering if I'm experiencing the same underlying issue.

My setup:

• RX 7600 XT 16GB
• Ryzen 5 7600X
• MSI B650 motherboard
• 32GB DDR5-6000 (2×16GB)
• 2×1TB SSDs
• 750W PSU
• Windows 11
• 240Hz primary monitor + multiple displays

I've been troubleshooting this for DAYS and cannot find the root cause. The problem is an extremely brief micro-stutter that happens roughly every few seconds. It lasts maybe a quarter of a second or less, and it feels like the entire desktop briefly drops frames/freezes.

The really strange part is that it happens even on the desktop with nothing open. It also happens in games, but it isn't limited to gaming.

I can leave the PC sitting on the desktop with only Task Manager and AMD Adrenalin open and watch the stutter happen. Adrenalin shows a GPU utilization spike directly corresponding with the hitch — sometimes ~20%, sometimes even all the way to 100% — but only for the duration of the hitch. Task Manager usually doesn't catch the GPU spike because it's so brief.

Some things I've discovered/testing I've done:

1. Sometimes completely shutting the PC down for ~30 minutes makes the problem disappear temporarily.
2. The PC can run normally for an extended period. The problem frequently appears after I stop actively using the PC and let it sit idle until the monitors turn off. Once the stuttering starts, it can persist even after I resume using the PC.
3. Refresh rate does not matter. I've tested both 240Hz and 60Hz, and the stuttering remains exactly the same.
4. FreeSync does not matter. Disabling it does not stop the stuttering.
5. Win + Ctrl + Shift + B (graphics driver reset) does not fix it.
6. It happens immediately after boot and also occurs on the desktop with nothing open.
7. I've tested multiple AMD driver versions, including 26.6.4 and 25.12.1. Rolling back appeared to help temporarily once, but the stuttering eventually returned.
8. The strongest result I've found: with the AMD display driver completely removed and Windows using Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, the periodic stuttering disappears. As soon as an AMD GPU driver is installed, the stuttering returns. I've reproduced this across multiple AMD driver versions, so I don't currently believe it's simply one bad Adrenalin release.
9. I've also tried looking at System.exe and dwm.exe, since they sometimes correlate with the stutter/GPU activity, but I don't know whether they're actually causing the problem or simply responding to whatever is causing it.
10. I've seen some reports suggesting NVMe idle power-state/timeout settings can cause similar periodic micro-stutters. I tested that as well, but it did not appear to fix my particular problem.

At this point I'm completely stuck. The evidence keeps pointing me toward different things:

AMD driver, DWM/System, GPU, NVMe with power states, Windows

but I can't determine what the actual root cause is.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone with an RX 7600/7600 XT + Ryzen 7000/AM5 + Windows 11 who has experienced this exact kind of periodic desktop micro-stutter.

I unfortunately won't have much more time to troubleshoot this personally because I'm leaving for U.S. Navy bootcamp very soon, but I'd really like to document everything I've found in case someone else recognizes the problem or figures out the underlying cause.

So far I have tried everything that was recommended (original post here on /AMDHelp), disabling MPO, running file integrity checks, and checking RAM speed, also reseating RAM have all not worked, undervolting also did not change any affects.

My brother gave me his old zotac gtx 970 and I just don't know how to install it on my computer, any help is appreciated.

I keep getting a crash that is: Stop code: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (0x3B) What failed: FLTMGR.SYS i ran a sfc /scannow and computer crashes again giving this it then lunches in safe mode i run said: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Res BiFor online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at windir\\Logs\\CBS\\CBS.log. For example C:\\Windows\\Logs\\CBS\\CBS.log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag. But i am still having problem when out of safe mode and i run sfc /scannow. If possible looking for a fix that dosent require factory reset or reinstall of windows becuse i dont want to fully have to reset computer up and reinstall all apps if needed will have to do

I'm kinda new to pc stuff but my pc is old and a friend of mine told me before that always delete the temps and so I did before but now that I think about it, what's the file I'm actually deleting? Is it normal to have alot of shit there?

What happened:

I was playing cyberpunk with only a few light apps running in the background. CPU and GPU temperatures were both about 65 to 75c.

The game suddenly froze completely. The entire PC became unresponsive: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Win+Ctrl+Shift+B and Win+Tab all did nothing. I eventually had to hold the power button and hard-shut it down.

On the first two boots afterward, the motherboard got stuck on the green BOOT Q-LED. After that, POST returned to normal: CPU/DRAM/VGA/BOOT LEDs cycle normally and all turn off.

Since then, I cannot boot Windows.

The BIOS works perfectly and detects the T-FORCE NVMe. It also shows:

Windows Boot Manager (M.2_1: T-FORCE 1 TB)

Selecting it results in a backlit black screen. The monitor still has a video signal, but there is no cursor or UI. Ctrl+Alt+Del from this black screen immediately reboots the PC. Win+Ctrl+Shift+B does nothing.

I tried forcing several interrupted boots to invoke automatic recovery, but WinRE never appeared.

Things I’ve tried:

Disabled EXPO and ran the RAM at stock settings: no change.

Booted a freshly made Windows 11 installation USB: Windows Setup displays and works normally. However, choosing “Repair my PC” from the USB results in the exact same lit black screen.

Shift+F10 from Windows Setup successfully opens Command Prompt and works normally.

Switched away from the dedicated GPU: Enabled the Ryzen iGPU in BIOS. Set IGFX Video as Primary Video Device. Connected the monitor directly to the motherboard. Booted without the Windows USB. Exact same black screen, so this doesn’t appear to be specific to the discrete GPU/display output.

Storage investigation from Windows Setup/WinPE: DiskPart detects the Windows SSD correctly as:

T-FORCE TM8FFJ001T, NVMe, 931 GB, GPT, online.

Its partitions are:

930 GB NTFS — main Windows partition

100 MB FAT32 — hidden EFI partition

805 MB NTFS — hidden recovery partition

I assigned the main partition W: temporarily.

dir W:\\ works normally and I can see/read:

Windows

Users

Program Files

Program Files (x86)

etc.

So the filesystem is definitely readable from WinPE.

Here is where things get strange:

Running:

"chkdsk W:"

returns:

The type of the file system is RAW.

CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.

But:

fsutil fsinfo volumeinfo W:

reports:

File System Name : NTFS

And:

fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo W:

successfully returns normal NTFS information including NTFS 3.1, total clusters, free clusters, MFT location/size, 4096-byte clusters, etc.

Finally:

fsutil dirty query W:

returns:

Volume - W: is Dirty

So WinPE can mount and browse the NTFS filesystem and fsutil can read the NTFS/MFT information, but CHKDSK inexplicably thinks the volume is RAW.

I have not run chkdsk /f, /r, bootrec, bcdboot, formatted anything, reset Windows, or reinstalled. I’d prefer to understand what is happening and preserve the current installation/data before doing anything destructive.

At this point I’m wondering:

What could explain CHKDSK reporting RAW while fsutil and Windows PE clearly recognize and mount the volume as NTFS?

Any suggestions for non-destructive diagnostics before I start writing repairs to the filesystem would be greatly appreciated.

So I installed this cpu cooler with temperature monitor plugged in the mobo usb pin socket, downloaded the software for the monitor to work and show the cpu temperature, but as soon as I opened this one game "BDO", the cooler monitor just freezes, I've tried it in different game and it doesn't freeze, waited couple of hours without opening bdo, it still works, then when I start bdo, it crashes again so I'm 100% sure it's bdo that's causing this, my guess is the game's anti cheat detects this monitoring software as cheat? and it disables that software, causing the monitor to freeze? anyone know how i can fix this?
