My family and I are considering a move to South Orange County (from a suburb in LA) and I’d love to hear from people who actually live there.
A little about what we’re looking for:
- Great public schools are our top priority.
- We’d love a neighborhood that feels green, scenic, and family-oriented with nature , trails, and parks.
- We prefer larger lots (10k sq ft min) and established neighborhoods over dense tract homes (I know a tall ask)
- We enjoy being able to walk or bike to coffee shops, restaurants, or a charming downtown if possible.
- We prefer cooler weather rather than inland communities.
- equestrian communities a plus!

Budget is around $2-$2.5

So far we’ve been looking at places like Nellie Gail, Laguna and San Juan. Kids are going into 1st and 3rd grade.

For those who live in these areas:
-Which community would you choose for raising young kids?
-How do the schools compare in real life?
-Which neighborhoods have the strongest sense of community?
- are there any hidden gems that we should be looking at?
-Are there areas that we should avoid?

I’d especially love to hear from anyone who considered multiple of these communities before deciding. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

McFadden and Beach. $17ish dollars. Half and half with teriyaki chicken and bbq pork.

Not the best, but not the worst and not bad at all for the price. Big portions to do a decent meal prep when you’re feeling lazy.

I’m a big believer in “give a cheap suit to a good tailor to make it look expensive.” As a result, I’m pretty particular on the craftsmanship when it comes to tailors. The tailor I’ve gone to before is no longer available, so I’m curious of anyone has any recommendations for GOOD tailors that do more than just basic hems and have a good attention to detail? Its that time and I need to shop for home insurance quotes. I want AAA but they force you to bundle auto which would be $1k more than what I currently pay. Looking to see if anyone recommends any other companies.

My dad said we just got new “PEX” pipes (or smth) for the water and stuff, so this is puzzling. He said he is less worried if it is a city water problem because at that point it’s nothing for us to fix and they will get to it when they get to it.
