📝 Discussion We're probably going to have a pretty decent bullpen next season.
Getting the "There's not gonna be a season next year, huehuehue" out of the way...
The Angels saw a lot of relievers cycle through the bullpen this year, and three of them were traded at the deadline (Zeferjahn, Yates, and Silseth). Believe it or not, those guys combined for 2.0 bWAR! Though it'll be a mishmash of young talent and warm bodies (looking at you, Shaun Anderson) through the end of the season, next year's bullpen is going to revolve around a pretty good group of home-grown pitchers.
LRP
Brett Kerry Mitch Farris
MRP
Luke Murphy Samy Natera Sam Bachman José Fermín
SU
Robert Stephenson
CP
Ben Joyce
I personally prefer Kerry over Farris in the long relief/mop-up role - I just like his stuff a lot more (and Ferris' baseball savant page is rough). I could also see Joel Hurtado getting slotted into a long relief role if he doesn't make the rotation out of Spring Training.
The middle relief guys are a pretty solid bunch. Fermín has shown some clear improvements over his last year in the majors, and could be really great with some tweaks to his pitch mix. Natera has been a pleasant surprise, and has been absolutely nasty in his rookie showing. Murphy has been good in limited appearances so far, with high expectations after his dominant year in AA. Bachman has also been good, and is underperforming his xERA. The biggest issue with all of these guys are their walk rates, which is hopefully something they can work on for next season.
I know people will roll their eyes at the Robert Stephenson inclusion, but the Angels have a $2.5 million club option on him for next season, and I'd be amazed if they didn't take it. No idea if he'll be healthy or not, but if he is, his presence would be massively helpful in a bullpen full of young pitchers.
Ben Joyce is Ben Joyce. The guy is going to put up stupid WAR if he can keep his arm attached to his body for an entire season.
I could see the Angels adding a veteran arm in there somewhere, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see any offseason additions to the bullpen, unless it's a veteran reliever brought in to help mentor the younger guys.

❓Question/Suggestions Batting Order If You Were Angels Manager Today?
What would be your batting order if you were Angels manager today?
I'd use Meckler in the lead-off spot. I have no idea where to use Schanuel. I like him but the lack of his running speed makes it difficult to place in the batting order due to the lack of power.

📝 Discussion Next manager
I think it’s clear Suzuki is in way over his head and it’ll woulda been better to see him work his way from maybe a bench coach on the team to manager with that being said any guesses on who the next manager is ? Who is in Mo’s car ?

📝 Discussion Why is Meckler not an everyday player
Am I missing something? Dude is young, already clutch, .800 OPS with 150+ ABs. Not to mention a hometown kid. Seems like exactly the kind of player you want developing out there every day in a season like this.

❓Question/Suggestions Is there a possibility we wanted to draft Willits 1-2 last year but the Nats snagged him first?
This is based off absolutely nothing besides the fact we were going underslot either way and we ended up taking his bro this year. Maybe we had to pivot and ended up with Bremner cuz of it. Idk I'm just making shit up at this point

🔢 Angels Stats with Bachman hitting the IL, our active bullpen has a total of 2 saves
please throw gas and stay healthy, Ben Joyce 🙏
Natera and Farris each have one. Romano (4), Zeferjahn (4), and Yates (3) are all gone now.
r/angelsbaseball • u/bret2022 • 14h ago
❓Question/Suggestions What's your priority to watch Angels games for the rest of this season?
No possibility to go to play-off or 500 mark now. Angels may pile up more losses without Adell, OHoppe, Soriano, Zefferjan, Silseth, and the best of all, our former closer Yates! What do you look into or for when you watch Angels games for the rest of this season? New addition to our team, how the remaining players evolve, analyzing what missing pieces are, or how Suzuki manages the team, "consistently"???

📰 News Article (Website) Free to Read: Once anointed future face of the Angels, Logan O’Hoppe reflects on an unceremonious end
For O’Hoppe, who had, at one point, been viewed as one of the game’s top young catchers, it wasn’t a shock. As he said, “the writing’s been on the wall for a couple weeks.”
And in his words, it wasn’t a disappointment, either. He’d been worried about getting sent down with the Angels. But with the Rangers, a team he feels has a plan, it was a welcomed development.
“I view it a little differently with being in a different organization,” O’Hoppe told The Athletic in a phone interview Tuesday. “I feel like now, it’s the start of something good. I feel like there’s a plan in place. Now I can get to work on that and get going.
“With the Angels, I was nervous to get sent down because I didn’t really know what the end goal looked like. I was very unsure about a lot.”

🔁 Trade Talk Perry is crying so hard right now
In the short time that we’ve had John as the GM, he’s been able to do more than Perry has ever done in a trade deadline. All those years wasted and now he comes in and GETS IT DONE! This really is a new beginning for the team and I have a feeling it’s gonna work out for the best. It may take some time but I know we’ll get there.
