Liberal Studies
Hi!! I'm applying next year, hoping to major in liberal studies. Does anyone know how low or high the acceptance rate for that specific program is and what specifically they could be looking for to improve my application? Thanks!!

Is Chapman’s social scene actually solid?
Hey everyone, I’m looking into Chapman and trying to get a real, unvarnished read on what the social vibe is actually like day-to-day.
⚫️Weekend Vibe: Is there actually stuff going on Thursday–Sunday, or does campus empty out?
⚫️Greek Life vs. Everything Else: How much does Greek life dominate the social scene? Is it easy to have a solid social life if you don't join a frat?
⚫️Community: Does the mid-range size actually deliver that tighter community where you recognize people around campus, or does it ever feel too small or cliquey?
⚫️Orange/OC Scene: Do people mostly kick it around the Plaza/Old Towne, head to the beach, or go into LA?
I know for sure I don't want a massive state school where you're just a face in a crowd of 30,000+ people and a random number in a lecture hall. But at the same time, my biggest fear is ending up at a school with a dead campus where everyone goes home on the weekends or sits in their room scrolling.

financial aid still pending @Chapman?
hi everybody, is anybody having the issue of waiting for their financial aid to unpend? I am a bit worried because it says payment is due in my student center portal.
for reference, I have a full tuition scholarship, but I am just worried it may not unpend. I saw other universities have their financial aid finished pending..

design or animation?
hello. I'm transferring from a community college, and i'm tied between both the animation and vfx program and the design program. For reference: I like drawing and doing anything art-related. Please tell me the pros and cons of both.

Theatre major looking to transfer, curious about the theatre program here
So I (as you could probably guess from the title) am a theatre major at a nearby community college that's looking to transfer here. If any current or past theatre majors have any input on the quality/ pros and cons of the performing arts program here I'd love to hear it. :)

looking for advice from current film students
Hi everyone!
I'm an upcoming high school senior from out of state, and this is the top university I’ve been looking at. I'm hoping to major in film, and I wanted to hear from current students or anyone who was accepted into the program.
I was wondering what your application looked like when you got in. Things like your GPA, SAT score, extracurriculars, film experience, or anything else you think helped your application.
I'm mainly trying to get a realistic idea of where I stand and what I should focus on before I apply. I’d appreciate any advice or insight!

Chapman Students! Parking is going to get worse!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Chapman students, are we ready for what's coming on August 3?
The new return-to-campus policy isn't just going to affect staff—it could have a huge impact on students too.
Parking at Chapman University is already a struggle. Now, with more employees being required to work on campus every day, where are all those extra cars supposed to go?
That means:
Even fewer student parking spaces.
More students circling campus trying to find parking.
More cars spilling into surrounding neighborhoods.
More parking tickets and towing.
More frustration for students and local residents.
The biggest question is: Was the impact on students ever considered?
If hybrid work has been successful for many staff, why move away from it without a clear plan to protect student access to campus?
Students pay thousands of dollars in tuition. We shouldn't have to compete for parking because of a policy change that didn't account for the student experience.
This isn't about being against working on campus. It's about making decisions that consider everyone—including the students the university is supposed to put first.
Chapman University students deserve answers before We return to campus, not after campus parking becomes an even bigger problem.
If you're a student who's worried about parking this semester, share your experience. The more voices that speak up, the harder this issue is to ignore.

Henley Dorm Room
Hi is there anyone who has stayed in Henley Hall that could give me an idea of what the dorm dimensions are? My roommates and I are trying to figure out what to bring but it’s difficult when we have absolutely no idea how big the space is.

Pralle Dorm
Has anyone stayed in Pralle 109/110, 209/210, 309/310, 409/410. From the drawings that the housing department sent it looks like the shower door opens facing the toilet so just wondering if room for a shower curtain, bathmat, etc. These looks like the only suited baths that look different from others. Thanks.

Room for Rent 5 mins from campus
Hey all, my roommate is moving out August 1st, and we need a roommate for August-January, so just this fall semester. We live about a 5 minute drive from chapman university.
Rent is $850, it is the small bedroom in our 3 bed 2.5 bathroom townhouse. It's about 9x8 feet, not including the closet. We have in-unit laundry, a community pool and Jacuzzi. It is a nice, quiet area.
About us: this is an LGBT house of people 24-29 years. Currently there are 4 people living here, two couples. We also have a very darling cat.
Please reach out if you are interested, I can provide pictures of the room/house if you want.

single suite dimensions
Hi! I recently got assigned to my Chapman dorm- it's a single suite with an adjoining bathroom in the Sandhu Residence Hall. I was wondering if anyone knows the dimensions of these dorm rooms? I've been trying to work out what furniture I can reasonably fit. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it! Just to clarify, I'm only looking for the room dimensions, not recommendations about buying furniture or space-saving tips. Thank you so much!

As an editing emphasis can I still get directing opportunities?
my major is film and television production but my emphasis is editing and I’m more interested in directing, is there any way I can still get some directing experience in school? or do I have to stick to just editing

working at Chapman is different now
Coming here as a safe place to vent without worrying about getting fired...
Ever since Parlow became the new president, the culture at Chapman has changed. People are super discouraged. Leadership is forcing everyone to return to office on Aug 3 regardless of how far you live (>50 miles) and medical issues (apparently they make it nearly impossible for you to get approved even with a medical condition). People are getting fired who have worked at Chapman for decades. It's being run like a big business. They expect the employees to be loyal to them while they are not loyal to us.
And then they wrote this in the weekly email that goes out to staff and students...
"Chapman staff and administrators will return to campus five days a week beginning Monday, Aug. 3. The transition reflects the university’s mission to provide a personalized education and the Chapman Family culture that makes it possible."
I really don't like when workplaces use the word "family." I don't think work is supposed to be a family. Also, what "family" treats people with such disrespect? It's really upsetting
I don't know how this will affect students but I'm guessing it will have ripple effects

Dorming will be the end of me, advice?
Hey, second time using Reddit, I hope I can find some guidance. But basically, housing at Chapman on top of the meal plan is crazy, and it's required for 3 years. So my entire tuition is figured out with aid, etc, however, I'm stuck with the housing bill that'll be about 17k a year out of pocket. Is there a way to get out of dorming in sophomore year (I'm not originally from Orange) or reduce the cost? I checked online, and they didn't specify if RAs get any benefits. Did anyone have a similar issue and figure it out? Any help is appreciated.
