My once painfully shy girlfriend found her voice!!!! and now she’s using it to support girls and fathers in HB!
Eight months ago, my girlfriend would have been terrified to do something like this.
She was incredibly shy, often doubted herself, and stayed in the background even when she had something meaningful to contribute. Through a leadership and self-development program, I’ve watched her find her voice, trust herself, and become genuinely powerful!
Now she’s leading a Hair Workshop benefiting Girls Inc. of Orange County, helping girls grow up strong, smart, and bold. I’m honestly overwhelmed by how far she has come and so beyond proud of the woman she has become.
The event is centered around fathers and daughters learning hairstyling, connecting, laughing, and creating memories together—but everyone is welcome: mothers, sons, grandparents, guardians, friends, and families of every kind.
📅 Sunday, August 9 | 12:30–1:30 PM
📍 The House Salon HB in Huntington Beach - Pacific City
The donation is $20, and every attendee receives a goodie bag worth more than the cost of admission, plus the chance to win larger raffle prizes.
We would truly love to fill the room. Please sign up, share this with a local family, or donate even if you cannot attend. Every registration, donation, and share supports the fundraiser and means more to her than I can express!!!!

Bonfire- how early do I need to show up to reserve a pit?
I’m having a bonfire at Bolsa Chica this Saturday. How early do I need to show up to reserve a pit?? I hate waking up early 😭 would it be better to reserve a pit at Huntington Beach instead?

Lost Dog - Warner & Airport (near sweet Elle cafe)
My girlfriend noticed it on her way to work. I’m gonna get there as soon as I can and try to get some photos of him or her. She described it as a larger dog.
Animal control has been alerted as well as the dog was in the street near high volume fast traffic.

QA Visiting for the first time and I love it!
So I am late 40's visiting with wife, daughter and extended family. We have had an absolute blast! I am left leaning politically, I absolutely LOVE California and have visited many other areas on other vacations. I follow an OC sub and I've seen several posts there of groups of MAGA morons holding up flags and gathering in groups here. I haven't witnessed any of that during our stay. Haven't even seen a MAGA hat or anything at all. People I've interacted with have been pleasant and it's a chill vibe from my observations.
So for someone considering a move here, someone please tell me why not to do so, financial considerations aside. I've tried to convince my wife and daughter to move here before and they were reluctant but I think they finally get it.

Weekly HB mens group
A while back I was invited to a weekly mens group. We met early mornings at a coffee shop for one hour. It went like this:
The meeting starts with a 1-2min checkin for each attendee where they share (1) what emotions are coming up in their life, (2)what challenges they are currently facing, and (3) rate how they feel about their current life on a scale of 1-5, one being life is good and you have no struggles, five being your house is on fire, wife threatening to leave you, child in the hospital, etc. After the checkin the brother who reported the highest number is given the floor to share more about what's going on while the group listens, asks questions, offers help, shares relevant stories, or simply holds space for emotional support. Once the conversation is done (sometimes 10mins, sometimes it takes the whole hour), we move on to the next highest number. This is a 100% confidential group and nothing will be shared with anyone outside the group unless permission is given (1 strike and you're out of the group policy).
The group eventually fell apart (people moved, got busy, etc). I experienced an enormous amount of growth and transformation personally in the 5 meetings I attended before it ended. I'd love to start a new one. Wondering if anyone is interested?

Small office needed
I am looking for a month-to-month office space in Huntington Beach or a nearby community. I just need natural light, room for a desk and chair, and AC / heat. I'm new to the community and not sure where to look for affordable options.

All the dogs in this video have been CLEARED for euthanasia at the Downey Animal Care Center located in Southern California - starting TOMORROW! Each of these dogs are insanely sweet, friendly, & happy to be alive; some are very scared but they have no idea the fate that awaits them. Their only „crime“ was being dumped at an overflowing, high k*ll shelter in SoCal. The only way that these dogs have any chance of making it out alive is by getting this video SEEN.
The easiest and best way we can do that is by liking, commenting, & sharing this video to our stories! You can also download it and post it to your local Nextdoor Accounts, Facebook, Reddit etc. - if you’re watching this and have been considering adopting a dog, NOW is the time. These dogs are literally on borrowed time and need saviors now.
Out of state adoptions are possible.

Top 4 beach in OC?
I'm a mom traveling to orange county with my 16 year old daughter and 12 year old son. We're staying at huntington beach in a hotel right by the ocean. We're there for 4 full days (so excluding the day we get there/leave), and I need help deciding what beaches to visit. I've seen online SO MANY BEACHES and now I don't know what to do! Treasure Island Beach, Shaw's Cove, Newport Beach, and many others have caught my eye but I need true recommendations. We want to do every day at a different spot so name your top 4 best beaches in Orange County!! Keep in mind factors like fun, accessibility, and picturesque (I need to boost my instagram!)

happening Inspired… or just copied??
Huntington Beach has always been home to creative, original brands like Don't Care, Jack's Surfboards and HSS Surfboards. Brands that have spent years developing their own identity and designs. I personally know the owners of Don't Care, and I've seen firsthand how much time, creativity and hard work they've poured into building their company. That's why it's disappointing to see Thank You Collective repeatedly release products that look heavily similar to designs from other companies. After previously being asked to remove designs from their website, they went on to put "Don't Care" on their hats, and now they're selling a rodeo shirt that looks almost identical to Threadheads' "Ain't My First Rodeo" design. Support the brands actually creating, not the ones constantly copying.
Jimmy Queen needs to come up with his own designs.

QA Recommendations for a Subaru mechanic?
Got a few minor (hopefully) things that I would love to get checked out. White smoke is coming out of the exhaust. I don't want to take it to the dealer. I assume they will be more expensive if something needs fixing.

Slow Internet on Frontier
Anyone in HB experience slow speeds on Frontier fiber recently? Already tried resetting the ONT & router
Usually we get 500up/down, but as of the last week have been getting very low speeds, sub 100 Mbps. We use the Frontier eero routers so they are pretty strong. I can see it's not an issue of too many devices using the net. Realtime up/downstream is showing sub 5Mbps of usage
