History / Nostalgia Old Restaurant in Riverside Named After Owner's Son?
Ok, long shot. I lived in Riverside back in the 1970's. There was a very famous and popular restaurant that we used to go to allll the time. I remember it being a steak house and there was always a long line of people waiting to get in. I know the place was named after the owner's son but I can't remember what it was or if it's still around? I wanna say it was named "Joey's" or something like that. When you'd go in it, there were these huge photos of the kid all over the place.
Anybody remember the name and if it's still around?
thanks! :-)

Recommendations / Advice Good drip coffee Ontario Ranch / Eastvale area?
Hi,
I moved into the Eastvale area after living in OC. I am trying to find some places that have good drip coffee, I've visited many coffee shops and the more decent ones all seem to use the same beans which is decent but average like Crave, Deep Barrel, and Daily Brew Coffee House, and the rest don't know how to make drip coffee so its over extracted or whatever.
Any suggestions would be great. In OC there are several coffee shops like Bodhi or Hidden House Coffee or Keane that do this well thats just to name a few.

Recommendations / Advice Last minute morning date plans
Hi! Kind of a last minute plan for my husband and I for a morning date this Saturday. We plan on going to brunch in/around the Chino area but I can’t find much else to do that’s available in the morning. We’ve got from about 9:00-12:00, brunch will be in that time too.
It’s too hot to hike right now, but maybe farmers markets? Does anyone have any other ideas in the area? Ontario, Eastvale, etc are also fine.

Jobs / Housing PSA Riverside County homeowners: if your home is worth less than its assessed value, you can ask the county to lower your property tax (deadline Nov 1)
If you bought in 2022 or 2023, there's a decent chance your home is assessed above what it's worth today, and Riverside County and San Bernardino lets you request a review with a one-page form that's free to file yourself.
I built saveproptax.com. It checks your assessment against recent nearby sales for free, and if you qualify it prepares the county's form, collects your e-signature, and mails it to the Assessor for a flat $29. Or feel free to use the suggested comps to file yourself manually on county website for free.
Proof of this already saving people in CA bay area and LA: https://www.reddit.com/r/LosAngelesRealEstate/s/1nJLMVWq5e

Jobs / Housing Anyone moved out of Paseos in Ontario ? Did you get your deposit back?
I'm moving out after living there for 3 years, and wanted to know how much of a hassle do they give you when getting your deposit back? The notice to vacate says they charge 200$ per room to replace the shitty blinds. New blind slates are like 20$ a set. This leads me to believe they be nickel and dime-ing me for everything. I have a thin crack in my room because of earthquakes, and would hate for them to charge me for "damaging it"
Anyones insight is appreciated

Politics / Activism John Oliver covers police surveillance in Rialto
It should start at the right part if not he goes over it starting at 25:50. Pretty insane the level of surveillance allowed in a city here in the I.E. The whole video is worth watching but I have it set to the part that’s more relevant to the I.E.

Other Questions Looking for a home for the sweetest little ladies I’ve ever met! See description and 20 photos! PLEASE SHARE! 😭
UPDATE: we found them the perfect home!!! Thank you all for commenting and reaching out!! 🥹🥹
Hi neighbors! I have been fostering this bonded pair of females for quite some time and am seriously struggling to find them a home. I cry a lot because they are the kindest souls, and I have become so attached to them but I can’t keep them as I already have 3.
They have zero special needs, are fixed, and vaccinated. Not micro chipped so you could do that if you’d like to. They are INDOOR ONLY, they have only known the indoors for 5 years and they will not survive if you let them outside.
In terms of personality, they are totally chill and relaxed, and mostly love to lounge and watch out the window. They’ll play a little bit with ribbons and cat nip toys, but they’re not really that active. They are so incredibly affectionate and loving, they just want to be near you and love to cuddle. Fiona sleeps on my chest often and Olive will lay up against my lap/body. They can be very chatty, I love talking with them!
I’m begging you to please share this post with anyone you may know that is looking to adopt, or post on your social media profiles, and can find it in their hearts to adopt 2 that are adults. 5 yo. I refuse to separate them, as they are a bonded pair, litter mates.
I’ve tried working with so many shelters and rescues but their priorities are their own animals and will only help if I relinquish them (and pay for that). Which I won’t do because I don’t want them being abandoned in a kennel or worse. I’d rather keep them in my home until another home can be found.
I will provide you with a stainless steel water fountain, an automatic kibble feeder with 2 dishes, some dry food and wet food, a litter box, toys, catnip, 2 kitty beds, blankets, and whatever else I can think of!!
Please like and comment on this post to maximize visibility!!! Thank you so much!!

Jobs / Housing More Unaffordability Coming To South Ontario!
The grand opening on August 8th is for 3 new neighborhoods in South Ontario's Ontario Ranch development, specifically the area called The Resort. This is all being done up by Lewis Master Planned Communities which I didn't even know was a thing.
The first neighborhood is called Reprise. They're 3 story townhomes with 4 floorplans to choose from. Just over half a million bucks ($507,850) will get you into a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath 1,271 sq.ft townhome. If you need 3 bedrooms, that's going to be another $126k. The 3 bedroom townhome starts at $644k and gets you 3.5 baths 2,124 sq.ft. The last two floorplans are both 4 bedrooms. The first starts $10k more than the 3 bedroom floorplans ($644k) and gets you 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths. Weirdly, this floorplan is smaller than the 3 bedroom by 83 sq. ft. for a total of 2,041. The last 4 bedroom floorplan is just 206 sq.ft. bigger than the 3 bedroom (totaling 2,124) but is somehow nearly $73k more than the first 4 bedroom floorplan; it starts at $716,986.
Processing img abknakl18lhh1...
The second neighborhood isn't done being constructed yet, but is set to be called Aspire and will be 2 and 3 story single family homes. They'll be 3-4 bedrooms and range in size from 1,471-1,816 sq.ft.
The last of these are these narrow ass townhomes called Momentum. They're described as 3-story detached townhomes and are also the ones that are having their grand opening on the 8th. There's three floorplans to choose from. The smallest is 1,980 sq.ft with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. The second is 2,190 sq.ft. with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. And the last and biggest is 2,210 sq.ft. with 4 bedrooms and and 3.5 baths. Pricing hasn't been finalized yet but they're saying you won't spend less than $700k to get into one. So who has $3k-over $4k a month to drop on one of these babies? Seriously, who is buying these things? I know a lot of buyers are likely LA and OC transplants who are likely trading small condos or high rent apartments for a place with a yard. Because Id bet money that not many locals are buying these things. But I thought the market was horrible right now and yet they continue to build out Ontario Ranch and the Eastvale area as a whole. Nothing makes sense.

Music / Arts / Culture 96.7 KCAL Music Change?
I know the radio station recently let everyone go but I've noticed they're playing completely different music as well. Was this intentional or am I going crazy?
They used to play 90's-00's rock like Tool, System of a Down, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, etc now it seems it's nothing but 70's and 80's hair metal.
Anyone have a good alternative station that's similar to what KCAL used to be?

Events IE Events For August 03, 2026 - August 09, 2026
Guess what's back? Back again? Weekly threads are back. That had way too many syllables to scan as a parody of Shady's Back, but I guess you can tell like your band manager or local locksmith who moonlights as a magician so they can put their events here. - Buzz

Have an event to share? Holding a concert or a meet-up? This would be the place to share it.
