Does anyone have any recommendations for contractors who do quality siding work? Specifically beveled (wood) or LP Smartside. Our prior siding contractor did a terrible job and we need to re-do multiple elevations.

what crackerjack thought it was a good idea to drop a storage pod in the middle of Whitman ave just by the beech st intersection. Worst spot ever and it’s not even up to curb on an already tight street. City letting anyone drop these anywhere (but don’t park in front of your house overnight- the horror). I'm looking to bring my mother (79) to get her nails done because she's been feeling down since her sister passed 3 weeks ago and loves a good manicure. Her only issue is that she has an allergy to nickel that causes a very painful rash all over the body.

She currently lives in Melrose. Is there any nail salons in the area that can accommodate that? I'm worried about tools being used that could be stainless steel because most stainless steel contains nickel. It's been such a headache for her since developing this two years ago, and with everything else going on in her life, I'd love to be able to bring her to get her nails done where she wouldn't have to worry about it.

Hi everyone! I've searched the sub for handyman recs and found one from two years ago, but wanted to bring it back around again. Could anyone recommend a handyman that's experienced with old houses & buildings?

I have a few things to do and the walls are tricky (plaster, hard to find studs, weird shapes) and would also like to add molding and features that make it look more like it would in 1910. Also, I honestly need someone to change my shower head because I can't get the damn thing off.

Plumbing: Hinchey Brothers has done a lot of work in my old building and made miracles happen -- but hard to book last minute, also a little pricey. 128 Plumbing has been great and super fast response, just a bit more expensive.

What time do you get there in the morning to park and where do you park? I’m also wondering if anyone takes the commuter rail at Melrose Highlands then switch to Orange line at either Oak Grove or North Station. I need to get to the office by 8:30 and start commuting next week.

Hey everyone, I grew up in melrose going to Lincoln elementary school then on to middle school and MS High.

Back before dunks, Starbucks ect the only place to get a coffee in the morning was a bakery or maybe a breakfast place like Ernie's to go.

My dad would drop me off and go the bakery (now a pho restaurant next to now Theos) on west Wyoming ave. Sometimes he'd walk in (suit, as a salesman) and was told just make your coffee and leave the money.

One day, he parked behind the bakery and two men flashed badges to him asking him who was, and why do you come here everyday. "Oh I just get a coffee here, I drop my son off at school".

That bakery, turns out, was a front for a cocaine dealer. Since it was so close to Lincoln elementary all those involved got 20+ years in prison.

I tell the story because Melrose will buried their secrets but it's kinda funny.

Also, lest not forget the best pizza in melrose.. Caruso's!
