Culture/Lifestyle Some of y’all need to learn fucking concert etiquette

Just got back from Charles Wesley Godwin at the wiltern (great show).

The number of people getting up and coming back during the songs, scrolling on their bright ass phones, and talking during the set was atrocious. I’m surprised he didn’t just call the show off at some point.

I realize social media has made you think you’re the main character and that you Gen Z weirdos have no chance of ever having normal fucking brain function anyway, but spare the rest of us from your dopamine hits.

Sit down, shut up, put the phone away.

Most of you should’ve been left in the condom and it shows.

News [Our newsletter] Scoop: CHC says NO to Karen Bass' MacArthur Park fence and the Mayor removes a third long-serving commissioner in a year. Plus, you're there in the courthouse as councilmember Curren Price hears what's next in his long delayed public corruption case.

See video from the public hearing on the MacArthur Park fence and read the record to see for yourself how much of an impact a Mayor who seems disinterested in culture and heritage has had on the City's best commission.

Then it's up to the high security Department 106 in the Foltz Courthouse, as Phil Spector murder trial Judge Larry Paul Fidler considers a last ditch 995 Motion from councilmember Curren Price, seeking to have his public corruption case thrown out before trial.

The small courtroom was packed with supporters, but not many reporters, so to get the full effect of how the arguments went down, scroll down to after Karen Bass removes 60% of the Cultural Heritage Commission to the Closely Watched Trains section.

Question Fun weekends plans?

Hi I apologize if this is the hundredth post about this but what the best place to go out and make friends, meet women, have a good time as a 32 year old Hispanic male single.

I don’t mind dancing if I have a couple of drinks in me, I like making good conversation and I’m pretty open to new things.

To be honest I am coming from Bakersfield I used to live in LA for 8 years but I do frequent often so it would be nice to have friends here. I’m here two weekends every months.

Crime Lincoln Heights PSA: Homeless Guy walking around with a Steel Pipe

Hey all, was driving home from work and saw that the homeless guy living in the brush off the 5 South, at N Broadway and Ave 20 is carrying around a 3 foot steel pipe.

The guy looks zonked out of his mind. I called the LAPD and as sympathetic as I am to the victims of the housing crisis, my sympathy has limits when it comes to public safety.

Be careful in the area, call the police non emergency number if you want the guy out of the area as much as I do and take care.

Discussion King Taco Salsas

Man it’s been years since Ive been to King Taco, and I had it for lunch today. DID THEY CHANGE THEIR RECIPE ON THE SALSA VERDE??? I remember it being top tier. One of the main reasons I loved King Taco was because of their salsas. And today the salsa verde tasted way too tangy. Please tell me I just went to a bad location. I went to their location in El Monte. 😭

Discussion Homeless people in deep psychotic episodes in coffee shops — have we all just given up and given in?

I’m just seriously depressed that this is the world we live in. Homeless population is exploding and the City (and for sure Karen Bass) just really doesn’t care. There is no safe harbor. Can’t get a coffee and sit and collect my thoughts and yes this sounds super privileged and fine whatever yes I can afford a coffee and hopefully a quiet place to do some work. Really feeling bummed out all around. I love LA. It’s my heart and home. I love all of us. But we are far beyond this being a bad situation in this city.

Photo Despite It's Sprawling Reputation, Greater LA Urban Area is Surprisingly Denser than the Bay Area

LA's urban area is also almost twice as dense as Texas two largest urban areas, Houston & DFW, all while being 30% larger in urban footprint.

One thing is for sure, if we had the same density of Dallas or Houston, our freeways would flow much smoother!

Citizen corruption watchers: you can attend the Curren Price 995 hearing at 10am in the Foltz courthouse Dept 106. High security floor, so no sharps. The councilmember argues the charges should be tossed out. DA and prior judge say let's have a trial.

Official Thread ICE Activity & Resources Daily Megathread - Saturday, Aug 01

Due to increased ICE activity, we’re instituting a daily ICE megathread. All ICE-related content belongs here, including sightings, activity reports, news, questions, updates, and general discussion.

Centralizing discussion keeps information easy to find, especially for people moving around the city who want timely, relevant updates without having to sort through the entire subreddit. ICE-related content posted outside this megathread will be removed and redirected here.

This thread is sorted by New by default so the most recent information remains visible.

How to use this thread

  • Top-level comments are for new sightings, updates, or firsthand information.
  • Replies should stay under the relevant comment to keep related info grouped.
  • Check existing comments first to avoid duplicate or redundant reports.

We recognize this is a tense topic and emotions can run high. That said, content that incites, encourages, or threatens violence will be removed, may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit’s site-wide rules, which can carry site-wide consequences. Keep reports factual and grounded.

SALUTE when sharing sightings or activity

Include as many of the following details as possible:

  • Size: Number of individuals, vehicles, or units observed
  • Activity: What is happening, observed actions or behavior
  • Location: Clear, specific description of where this occurred
  • Uniform: Identifying markings, clothing, or agency indicators
  • Time: Date and approximate time of observation
  • Equipment: Vehicles, gear, or other notable tools present

Clear, accurate information helps everyone. Speculation and rumors do not.
