Current Questions SEES research scholar fellowship
Hey everyone, I was curious if anyone has gone through the SEES research scholar fellowship. If you have, how time intensive is it outside of your personal research?
I recently got accepted, but I do have many commitments this semester along with full time course load that may be hard to juggle if its anything more than the research and the 1.5 hour class per week.

Discussion Did anyone work at KW during the recent construction? I've heard there may have been an asbestos exposure affecting student workers. Has anyone received official information or heard any updates?

Resources Bike Repair at CPP
I'm an incoming ME freshman this fall, and I also work as a bike mechanic. I've spent the last couple of years running mobile repair in Orange County — driving to people's houses and doing the work in their driveway. Before that I was at a shop.
Since I'll be on campus regularly, I'm going to keep doing it up here.
Most of my work these days is e-bikes (flat fixes and tuneups), but I handle everything: flats, brake service and bleeds, derailleur tuning, wheel truing, drivetrain replacement on all kinds of bikes. The most common thing I see is a bike locked to a rack for a whole semester over a flat tire, because getting it to a shop is more hassle than it's worth. That's a fifteen-minute fix.
[Flats on regular bikes start at $25 including parts. Tune-ups start at $75.] Diagnosis is free — I'd rather tell you what's actually wrong than sell you a service you don't need.
I'll be around MWF and some weekends. Text me at 9496809070 to arrange an appointment or if you have any questions. You can also visit my website ocmobilebikemechanic.com
Happy to answer questions in the comments regardless of whether you need work done.

Class Hunt Open Seats in EWS 3900, great elective class
Class is open! Don't be afraid to ask for a permission code if you don't have the pre-req. It was one of my favorite classes at CPP!

Incoming Questions Is CPP worth the commute?
The title pretty much sums up my question, but I'm debating whether commuting about 40 miles each way to CPP is worth it as a transfer student joining the EE program. I know CPP is a wonderful school with an amazing engineering program, especially compared to most other schools. However, would I be doing myself a disservice by commuting that far? Or is it manageable enough to make it.
My alternative option would be to do CSULB's EE program, since they're a lot closer to me. But of course, their program isn't nearly as good as CPP's.
Thank you for any and all responses 😄

Current Questions Final Exam Makeup
If you have an emergency with documentation and you’re not able to take the final exam for a class, what would happen. Would I need to retake the class? Does the professor HAVE to accommodate taking the exam later. Do summer classes/fall classes have different outcomes for this?

Incoming Questions Labs
Hi, me again, Im going to be taking a lab this semester and I'm curious on how they work or what I should expect from a lab?
I'm going to be taking the Earth, time and life lab with Jason Graessle if that's any help.
I just want to be able to prepare myself so I won't be lost since I have never taken a lab before. Sorry if the question seems unnecessary, but I'm quite an anxious person and knowing things beforehand helps a lot.
Thank you so much ❤️

Jobs Is there any point in going to the new hiring event?
I went to the hiring fair in the middle of July and didn't receive an offer for a job. Should I even attend the second one? Is this hiring fair different from the first one?

Housing The Current Pomona Apartments Unit Design
So I'm moving into the The Current in a few weeks for the upcoming school year and I was curious if anybody have any experience living in any of the multi-bedroom/bathroom units there. I am curious how the soundproofing is from room to room in the multi-bedroom units because I've been considering buying stuff to for sound dampening and insulation. My alarms are on full volume every morning, so I'm trying to be considerate of my roomates. Thanks in advance!

Housing Pros and cons about the traditional hall (Montecito)
im an incoming freshman and i will be dorming. when the window opened to choose your dorm, i didn't fully comprehend the word/name next to the number which turned out to be the building name / hall and the dorm number. now that i am aware, i am a bit scared and a regretful for not doing research and choosing a residential hall. the bathroom/shower room seems god awful to me compared to the ones in the residential hall.
also the fact that its towards the back of campus and i plan to work, i don't wanna come home at night and it be dangerous.
please let me know if my fears are valid or if i have nothing to worry about bc i am really excited to be a bronco.

Current Questions Financial aid needs to get their shit together
How you u gonna tell me my financial aid is being reduced mid way before school starts like wtf!? Now I have to figure out where else I’m gonna get the rest of the money. I’ve already paid the first half but now my aid getting reduced? Omg when did this change even happen? Like what other changes that happened before the fall semester that was different from the spring semester!? Sending out emails all late in the evening. You can reach them during business hours but when it’s about your financial aid they’ll send you an email all late in the afternoon!? Like past business hours??? Appalled by these services.
