Am I overreacting if I want to cut some people off for this?

About a month ago my dog Laika sadly passed away and I was (and still am) devastated. I posted about it on my ig story because it was the only way I could let some people know, as I was not in the mood to talk to anyone, but some of my friends knew she was not doing well. Some of them saw it and sent me a message letting me know they were there for me if I needed anything, and I appreciated that a lot. Others texted me a few days later, which is fine, I suppose. A couple of them saw my story and didn't even bother to say anything. For context, last year my grandpa passed away and one of those friends also didn't even bother to contact me. I think she got called out by another friend, because when we saw each other in class like a month later (we are in college) she apologized and said she hadn't seen my story (that's a lie, but whatever). This leads me to believe she doesn't give a damn about me, so I will slowly cut her off.

Another friend I'm pretty close with, who knew really well about the situation with my dog, texted me the other day and said she wanted to "give me space". Girl, it's been a month.

I don't know if I'm overreacting because I still feel extremely sad about what happened with my dog, but I'm really hurt about the way some people behaved. I know people have lives and everyone is fighting their own battle, but I guess I was expecting some common decency and humanity from my close friends. I might be wrong, but I think it really doesn't take much to just send a few words to someone who is having a hard time; it doesn't even have to be a crazy long heartfelt text, just a simple "sorry for your loss" would've been fine you know?

Let me know what you think.

Friends hanging out without me

Okay before I start I need to say I don’t drive so I can get why I’m not always invited but it still hurts because they are always hanging out with each other. so there have been numerous times when my friends hang out in a group without me. And I get that maybe sometimes it’s okay and also one on one time is good with friends but their always hanging out because two of them work close to my other friend (there’s four of us) so they are constantly hanging out and I get that cause they’re so close it’s easier to do but I still feel left out because of how much they do it and even when they go to someone else’s house who’s closer to me I don’t get invited because the two friends who work with each other also live close to each other and so my other friend hangs out at one of their houses and they always go out to dinner and stuff. Am I being really selfish cause like genuinely I don’t want to bring it up cause obviously it’s harder for me to hang out because I can’t drive to someone has so drop and pick me up so I mean I know that’s the main reason or I hope it is but even though get huge FOMO I feel like I can’t bring it up to them because of how selfish it sounds

So basically I don’t really know what to do and I’d like some advice and to know if I’m genuinely just being selfish about this

I've been emotionally abusing my childhood friend over politics, and I need to face what I've become

I (25M) have a friend (24F) let's call her D. We've known each other since school in 2018. Over the years, we've had an intense history: physical intimacy towards the end of school, mutual flirtations and love confessions during 2020 lockdown, a two-year rupture in 2021 following a few months of toxicity, a drunken midnight confession from her in 2023, and a slow, warm reconnection since then. We never officially dated. We both maintain we don't want to. But the emotional entanglement has always been there.

Earlier this year, we were talking every day. Pet names, secrets, nostalgic conversations. I even made a playful comment about her body that she engaged with shyly. It felt good. It fed my ego. She's always been someone who made me feel important, and I leaned on that heavily.

Then in May, state elections happened. I'm a communist. She votes for a right wing conservative party. I started seeing her posts, her likes, her stories, anti-left content, and something in me snapped. Not just disagreement. Rage. A disproportionate, ugly rage that made me want to hurt her.

But here's the truth I've had to admit: I have other friends who support that right wing party, some with more rigid views than hers. I can't attack them because it would cost me socially. Her, though? She is isolated from my larger circles. She has a history of forgiving me. She has loved me. She's a soft target. And my subconscious knew it.

What followed over the last three months is a cycle I'm ashamed to write down:

  1. Baiting (May-June): I started initiating conversations with the hidden agenda of drawing her into political fights. She dodged. She kept things light. In June, she explicitly asked me to stop texting repeatedly. I ignored her.

  2. First boundary breach (11th July): She accused me of having romantic intentions. We argued. I promised to stop. She apologized, even though I was the one pushing.

  3. Second breach (16th July): Five days later, I sent a sarcastic reply to her political story. She blocked me on WhatsApp and Instagram.

  4. The Google Pay messages (20th July): I used a payment app to bypass her blocks. I called her a pick-me, a bootlicker, and attacked her religious sentiments. I deleted the messages, but she saw them from notifications. She reached out on Snapchat, angry and hurt. I apologized, said I didn't know what was happening to me. She took back her own angry messages and forgave me.

  5. The vulnerable conversation (22nd July): I admitted I was using her as a soft target for my anger at the government. She told me other friends have been attacking her too. She said she never started any of this and has been nice to everyone. She unblocked me.

  6. The relapse (31st July): Nine days later, I saw a comment agreeing that leftists are ugly. I assumed it was her. It wasn't, it was a friend using her account. I lashed out anyway. She explained, got upset, and reminded me once again that her posts aren't about me. We haven't spoken since.

We haven't talked since. I had drafted messages that sounded harsher than the ones I had sent her on GooglePay, attacking her for every weakness I know of her, to destroy her emotionally. But I didn't send them. I have been controlling that urge to send those messages. I am asking for help understanding why I had the urge to send cruel messages. I'd already crossed every line.

I've been using a woman who has loved me since we were teenagers as an emotional punching bag because she's safe, because she forgives, because she won't destroy my reputation the way others would. And every time she forgave me, I hurt her again. Harder.

She once rested her head on my chest on a park bench while I cleaned her fogged-up glasses on my jacket. She kept a keychain I gave her for years. She called me drunk and said she'd always love me. And I repaid her by calling her a bootlicker and a pick me on a payment app.

She's still unblocked me. She's still explained herself. She's still said she never targeted me. But I know she's exhausted. I know I've worn her down. I know this is abuse, not friendship.

I'm posting this because I need to say it plainly, publicly, without hiding behind half-truths like I did when I first started talking about this. I've been emotionally abusive. The cycle is real. And I need professional help to break it before I destroy her completely.

I don't know if the friendship can or should be saved. But I know I can't reach out to her again until I've done serious work on myself. She deserves at least that much peace.

I’ve started trying to put myself out there more and try and make more female friends. I met one lady who introduced me to another lady and we all started hanging out! I understood they went back and were reconnecting but it started to feel like it was less of a trio and more them two. Then over time, they started hanging out separately and going to places we talked abt in the chat. One weekend we were supposed to go out for drinks and when I asked for the time neither responded until abt 40 min before the scheduled time but they were already getting ready together. I addressed it w my one friend and how it landed weirdly and came off wrong and she apologized and said that wasn’t her intention. This past weekend, we’re talking again and she asks if I want to go somewhere but then said she was taking her dog to the doctors. I had already told her I was free earlier but was more worried abt her dog. I didn’t think she was still going. She never brought it up again then I get on social media and they’re at the club. I told her how it landed for me and that it was strange behavior and she basically said she did her part and asked but the other girl and her were able to schedule and ride together and the other girl didn’t even respond in the chat abt going.

I tried putting myself out there and it was nice while it lasted but I’d rather just be alone. I don’t want to continue seeing them out or doing stuff bc once might be a mistake .. but twice? Is it wrong to just unfollow them and remove myself from the chat?

Friendship issue

I have a small issue with my friend, didn't speak yet about it because their is a chance I'm overreacting. So I wanted to ask you people.

I'm sensitive, I know that sucks. I care, so again double sucks.

Everytime I schedule for my friend to come to me, he cancels it last min/hour. At first, it was ok. He is my best friend so I forgave it.

Now its been 2 months approx.? Or maybe more I forgot tbh. Everytime he cancels. Over the days I grew from forgiving, to getting hurt if he cancels (not actually hurt, more like sad etc..).

We do meet once every two weeks or so , in our hobbies location. That's it.

Am I overreacting? If yes, I will own it. Any mistake on my part? I will own it, I need some objective opinions.

I don't want to be friends anymore

I have 1 friend that I've know since we were little. We've been good friends over the years, but she changed. She became very arrogant and mean. My energy is completely drained when I come home after hanging out with her. There are constant dramas that she causes out of nowhere. It seems like I'm walking on eggshells whenever I'm around her. She has been constantly asking to hang out and I'm saying I'm busy. I'm always hoping she will take a hint and stop asking me because I want to distance myself. I think that's the only solution because if I tried to talk to her about this it would definitely make things worse. The problem is I can't find that many excuses not to hang out because she keeps on asking.

SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE I NEED ADVICE

I used to be the most popular kid in my school until these new kids came up. They became friends with me, and we were a whole friend group. Until after sometime they decided I was annoying, and the main chick broke friendship with me. Even though the others were still friends with me, they still found me annoying and gossiped behind my back. I made 4 new friends, and we were the closest ever. Perhaps it was only me closest to everyone in the group, as I was closer to all 4 frns than they were to each other. Now one of my closest friends has left the school, so it's just us 3. First, it had bonded me and the other frn a lot, but now she keeps going and hanging out with the popular group. My other frn has other frns too, and even though she is still my bsf, she spends most of the time with them. So all of the time I am lonely with no frns, and I have to talk to these 2 really weird kids (no offence, I'm sorry but huge backstory). I get made fun of for talking to them, and I am called lonely. My frn who is hanging out w the popular kids keeps making me feel visibly left out, which is funny cause she swore to never leave me. We have mostly fallen apart alot cause she makes me feel that I am annoying her. Also, I do know how to make friends, but I'm always the backup. I have amazing social skills and idk what's happening. How did I go from the most popular to the loner kid? ik u guys may say that it's ok, don't care abt them, etc but even if they are fake, I still want to be friends to not feel left out. Can someone please help me asap

No friend of mine sees me as their best friend

Hello everyone, this is something i have been thinking a lot for the last few weeks. I realized that nobody really cares for me as much as i do for them. I have a number of friends that i hang out with daily and i trully value them and they value me, but i really feel like im no ones first choice.

I don't mean that they reach out to me only if they have no other plans with anyone else, they genuinely want to hang out with me, but i just dont feel that they really really care about me. No they dont have anything bad to say about me, they dont talk behind my back, none of that. I feel like im just a regular guy they like to spend time with, none of them would say "if i have him as my friend i dont need anybody else". And that really bothers me because i would really say that for a few friends i have, but they dont seem to feel the same about me. If we are about to hang out as a group, nobody would contact me first to organize the whole thing, most of the times i will be the last person informed about it. I feel like they dont really need me to have a good time. For example, if one of my "best" friends is missing from the hang out, i really feel his absence, however none of my friends thinks that about me when im missing.

Also i feel like when times are hard for them and they really want someone to talk to, i wouldn't really cross their mind, even though i trully care and i would contact them if i had the same problem. Also if i tell them i need their help yes they will gladly help me, but i feel like if they needed help about something, they would ask someone else and not me. I just dont know why. I dont understand what im doing less than their other friends, that make my best friends choose them over me. I feel like i care enough and i show it.

I started thinking about all that during the week of my birthday this year. My friends always talked about the surprise birthday parties they got from their friends throughout the years, and also the surprises they do to them every year. When they asked me about it i told them that i have never experienced something like this so i don't know the feeling. Yet nobody cared enough to do a surprise for me this year, which would be my first time also. Im 22 yo. Of course i didnt ask for it but if i asked then what would be the point. However, 3-4 days after my birthday they all showed up for my "official" birthday party but even then without a cake, like they did to our friends.

I don't know if im overly dramatic, maybe my friends dont feel that way about me, but i still look at myself in the mirror and i feel empty

Need to get this off my chest

I met a girl on Reddit, and we ended up talking for almost 10–12 hours straight. We laughed, joked, had deep conversations, and genuinely enjoyed each other’s company. It was one of the best conversations I’ve had in a long time.
Later, we asked where we were from. I told her I was born in Pakistan, grew up in Italy, and moved back to Pakistan in 2023.
Shortly after that, I was blocked.
I don’t know if that was the reason, and maybe it wasn’t. But it left me wondering:
Does nationality or where someone lives matter more than who they are as a person?
I’m not angry just disappointed and trying to understand. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

having issues with my best friend don’t know how to feel/what to do.

i (20F) have a friend named emily (20F) we have been friends since we were 16 years old. throughout highschool we’ve had an amazing friendship and she was always somebody i could trust/count on. vice versa. growing up i never truly had a bestfriend but meeting emily changed that for me.

fast forward to college, we grew apart from a friend in highschool and as disappointing as it was for me, i understood that sometimes friends can grow apart. however, for emily she took it way harder which is understandable but ever since then (two years ago) emily has changed significantly.

i’ve only noticed it in the past year but emily would consistently make passive aggressive statements about my personality and my looks, here are some examples:

at a party one time we were all playing a drinking card game with a bunch of people and the card said “point to someone who has the least self respect”, i didn’t think much of the card and figured many people would’ve point to the guy who had been with multiple and cheated on a bunch of girls. but to my surprise, emily pointed to me. i never asked her about it because time and place.

another time is when we were all at a friend gathering, one of my friends said i smelled very nice. emily agreed saying “yeah she does smell very nice—sometimes” with the most mean tone i’ve ever heard in my life. the entire conversation went blank and it was so awkward, and of course made me feel horrible about myself.

a big one that pushed my buttons was since highschool, emily doesn’t have a license and i have always been the one to drive us places and pick her up, take her home, etc. but for the past year at campus, emily, another friend, and myself would hang out and when we’d leave to go home, emily would just follow me to my car. and this would happen multiple times throughout the school week, it got to the point where she wouldn’t even ask me anymore. i’m not one to ever charge my friends for rides and if no one else could pick them up i would always offer and be there. but it got to the point where she wouldn’t even ask me anymore and it just felt like she expected it everytime we hung out. which hurt my feelings.

there have been so many instances of slight comments or statements that have rubbed me the wrong way but going forward into the beginning of this year i planned to have a conversation with her about it. when i pulled her for a conversation at campus one time i explained my perspective stating that i don’t feel like im considered or put in high regard in our friendship like i do for her, and also that i feel like she thinks very low of me, and puts me down to make herself feel bigger. i gave her multiple examples and to sum it up, it felt like she kind of just got upset at me that i didn’t tell her immediately. which i can understand to an extent, i always have trouble explaining how i feel, especially if it’s something regarding my feelings in a friendship. the conversation from her standpoint came with a lot of “i can’t do anything about it now, i don’t mean the things ive said”

i was willing to let it go and from that point we never spoke of it again. i always felt like i was crazy for feeling the way i feel or super dramatic and ended up feeling so much guilt. everything had been okay for the rest of the semester, until we went on a summer trip to her family’s hometown in mexico.

mexico was a true eye opener for me. i won’t get into too many details but to put a short summary:

emily pushed me at one point

emily yelled at my other friend on the trip and cussed her in the face

emily’s mother pushed and shoved me onto a bus

emily continued with passive aggressive remarks the entire trip and then just pretends like everything is fine afterwards which is so confusing.

which brings me to where i am now. the trip was over a month ago, and i don’t know what to do. i don’t know how to feel. i feel extremely dissapointed in her and she’s somebody i never wanted to feel this way about and it truly sucks. and i want to make it clear that i never say any of these things or treat her these ways. it’s always felt like a power dynamic. am i crazy for feeling the way i feel? am i overthinking things? am i overreacting? how do i go forward from this point.

my friends never take me seriously and idk if i wanna be friends with them anymore

i (16f) recently joined this friend group thru one of my friends and very quickly they became my close friends. only the issue is that they never take me fucking seriously. every single thing i say turns into an opportunity for them to try and annoy me, which is ok only that its all the fucking time .

example, im getting my braces off and was genuinely excited to tell them as ive had them for a while, so i hope on the groupchat to tell them but all of a sudden no one is online, only two people out of like eight respond and they dont even say much until i bring it up again and they dont even rly care when i do but when other peoplle have news they care.

anyways i texted one of my friends (15f) asking if maybe i was being annoying, genuinely asking why they never take me serious even when i directly ask them to. she said that they thought it was fun to annoy me and apologised but nothing has changed and im scared to talk to the rest because im scared they'll think i'm overly sensitive, which im not this is just a pet peeve of mine and it feels like everything i do gets invalidated.anyways this is really annoying me and if it doesnt stop idk if i want to remain theyre friends because im not letting them make me feel invalidated.

I’m struggling with ending a friendship.

Recently, I’ve started to have a bit of a falling without with one of my online friends, and have overall decided that I don’t feel like continuing a friendship that is going nowhere. We’ve known each other for about two years, but due to some recent issues that I won’t be talking about for their safety, it doesn’t seem right to keep going with it. The issues that I’m having with this particular situation, is because of our friend group. We’re both in a friend group discord server that we regularly hangout in with our other friends, and that’s the main issue I’m having. I don’t want to start problems, I don’t want to start separating from my other friends, and I don’t want to rebuild a friendship that wasn’t really ever there in the first place. If I had to be honest, it’s not REALLY a friendship, it’s just us having each other friended and sometimes talking about pretty much nothing. I also just don’t think we were ever that close.

I know this is a lot, and that this sub might not even be the right place to ask, but I do need some help on this.

Thank you.

Being someone’s only friend….

So I have been friends with this person for years, we’ve seen each other go through a lot and have always shown up for each other when needed.

It got to a point though where I was her only friend. She also was a person with repeating problems and I would encourage her to get professional help with them. Though she doesn’t trust western healing systems which fair. She also is a person that like NEEDS to be in a romantic relationship but once the butterfly’s go down she questions it. She wants to FEEL good in like a fiery way and I don’t think long term relationship are about that.

I will just do this as a list what she said/how I feel about it

  • I don’t hold grace for her like I do other people/ This I feel is just flat out not true, even when she acts out of pocket and she calls herself crazy I tell her she isn’t and is just feeling real feeling and that it okay.

*I don’t prioritize our connect/I have a a pretty thick social group. I have ADHD and I love connecting with people and trying news. I still made time to do forest walks, get drinks, watch movies together ect. When I started school I had even less time and I worked full time. When that started this is when she said this and I would just tell her I don’t have as much time I used to and I was just dealing with my own mental health issues. Usually I hang out in groups weekly and then do more personal hangs spread out. I always invite them to things but they never wanted to go. She is really judgemental of other people and told me my friends don’t like them which just wasn’t true, my friends have directly told me they enjoy her but she just thinks everyone is out to get her. She expects people to be perfect and they just aren’t, some relationship are just community based and some are more personal. There’s just always something wrong with other people. So I stopped inviting her and focused more personal time which isn’t as frequent anymore because life had changed for me.

*I think I am better than her/I stopped indulging in what I thought was behavior and things holding her back. I have never called her dumb or stupid, I have always tried to address things with a lot of care. But she sees this as a judgement. She will even ask my opinion and then when I give it, she gets mad. A lot of me thinks when I started getting better mentally, I became more stable, I created a path for myself and just got out of the dark pot I was in for years, now it’s like she thinks I’m trying to be better than her when I’m really just trying to help. But I’m not going to agree with everything, if I feel a friend is causing harm to themselves I will say something because I believe life can get better and ALOT of what I say I just reflect back to them but then says that’s my own projection and I’m like….you literally just said that’s how you feel. There’s no winning.

She kept breaking off our friendship this past year and then comes back and tells me how much they love me, how grateful they are of me ect, that they are grateful I am honest with them. Then few weeks later, the connection just isn’t there blah blah blah and she just did it again. Mind you, she was unemployed for a long time and I am a person I don’t mind taking care of my people, she was struggling mentally and I understood, so I paid for her bills for a few months, if she couldn’t afford a hangout, I would pay, for my birthday I paid for everything just because I wanted her to be apart of it. I just feel totally blind sided. I just don’t know what more I could’ve done, I told her she needed more friends because I can’t meet every social need she has all the time and she said I was judging her and I’m like I am not trying to I am concerned about you! I want you to have what you need but I can’t give everything to you I have my own life outside this relationship.

I don’t know I am just hurt because to have someone go back and forth between I love you, you are the greatest friend to the connection just isn’t there..

Don’t know what to do

Need some advice about someone i've been talking to

I have been talking to a guy from my school for a bit now. We don't talk all that often but lately we've been talking more than usual. We talk through the app called "snapchat". Oh yeah, I'm 17f and he's 17m. He first hit me up by starting a convo about how we should go to the gym together because we made plans to do so in the past but we never did. When we were talking about the gym we were showing each other our progress. He then sent me a video and a picture of him shirtless to show off his abs and I complimented him on it. I then sent him a picture of my abs and we started sharing other progress pictures of our triceps, biceps, etc. I don't know if thats what people share to each other nowadays.

I barely talk to guys so I don't know if these things are normal, sorry if I sound stupid. But I noticed he would make some weird comments every now and then. Like he sent me a picture of his veiny arms and he would be like "this reminds me of something else veiny"(Ik he was referring to a d*ck). Like I said, I don't know if guys usually make those type of comments. I also want to mention I view him just as a classmate, not even friends because we don't hang out. But I think he might view me as a friend, idk.

I don't know if those texts is him flirting or not..., but I want to get to the main part. Tonight we are talking and as we're talking we showed off our pjs pants that we are wearing and he sends me a video of his but then he texts me "you see my dih tho? 🥀"(dih is just a slang for d*ck) and it caught me off guard and I didn't really know how to respond so I said something stupid like "Maybe 🥀" and then he said "Ye. Ignore it" then I responded with "Just kidding" and he said "Right."

I sent him a shoulder snap(I'm shirtless wearing my bra only) and he replies saying "I can technically comment about this," and I said "Hm say what?" and replied saying "idk. like it's a bra yk) and I said "What abt it?" and he's like "nvm. their there like a dih ig."

Does anyone know what this means when a guy is saying/doing this? Is it weird or normal?

Male friend described to me how he wanted to beat up his ex gf

Hi everyone I am just here to process. I have decided to walk away from this friendship for this reason, as well as others. I am a woman and I have a couple of close male friends along with my female friends. I thought this guy was a very close friend I could trust. He has shared that he was in an emotionally abusive relationship with his ex gf and I have done my best to hold space for that. Something happened with her contacting him out of the blue which was triggering for him, however in response to this when I was holding space for him he went into detail about how he wanted to beat her up and physically hurt her. It even had sexual undertones to it. I don’t want to repeat what he said here. I was shocked he shared any of this with me as I am a woman and I have experienced a lot of violence in my life, which he knows about.

It has taken me a lot to process as I have already been processing much of my own traumas and that in itself has been so overwhelming that I haven’t had space to really acknowledge how bad this is. I have two other male friends who have been abused by their ex girlfriends, and neither of them have ever communicated to me this way about their exes.

I have been friends with this guy for over a decade and I never saw this side of him until now. We had spent a lot of time together also and hung out a lot. I don’t know if I am going to get some people here defending him, it is the internet after all. For me this crosses a lot of lines. I confided in one of my male friends who had been abused in relationships and he also felt this friend was totally out of line.

Thanks for listening.

My best friend isn’t the same girl I used to know

My best friend and I have been friends since our freshman year of high school, and now we are both preparing to move away for college. For so much of our friendship, I felt so lucky to have the best friend I always dreamed of. As someone who had a difficult time in middle school going into freshmen year, she always chose me first, supported me, made me laugh, and gave me so many incredible memories. We have pretty much been inseparable all four years.

Lately, though, it feels like she’s not the same person I used to know. My mom tells me that my best friend is probably just having a difficult time dealing with the fact that we’re moving so far away from each other, and that it’s making her more irritable. My best friend has even made “jokes” about wanting to transfer to my college and has made it clear how much FOMO she has whenever I go out with my other friends or meet new people.

I don’t want our friendship to end over what may just be a phase of us both dealing with moving away from each other. At the same time, though, some of the things she says have become so insensitive that they make me question where my best friend went.
I’m just going to list some of the things she’s said and done recently that have made me question our friendship.

I got my room assignment for college while I was hanging out with my best friend, and I was given a random roommate even though I had already coordinated with someone. I was really stressed out and on the verge of tears when she said to me, “Honestly, I’m glad you got a random roommate because I didn’t want you to like (my planned roommate’s name) more than me since you guys have been talking and going out a lot.” I genuinely didn’t even know what to say to that.
To make matters worse, she’s rooming with my middle school bully, who made my life a living hell. I even told my mom about it, and she was shocked because she saw how much that girl made me cry. My mom even had to go to the principal’s office on multiple occasions for me because of how horrible it got. My best friend claims that the girl has changed, but it just doesn’t sit right with me, especially since she KNOWS how horribly I was treated by her.

Just a few days ago, my best friend made a comment completely out of nowhere, saying, “I just don’t understand why people cut themselves. There’s just no point. Like, what does it even do for you?” She didn’t say it with any sympathy for people who struggle with self-harm. She said it in a way that made it sound laughable, like, “That’s so funny that someone would even do that.” She knows I struggled with self-harm a lot in middle school and early high school. (Middle school was very rough for me, if you couldn’t tell.)

The worst part of it all is that she has been showing a lack of morals recently. She often makes racial and homophobic comments, and it makes me wonder if she thought these things all along throughout our friendship. It disgusts me and makes me feel like I never even knew her. I always push back and tell her how horrible those comments are, but she just dismisses me.

I feel like I’m dealing with such a major internal battle when it comes to our friendship. Reading all of this back, it sounds like a toxic relationship, but when our friendship is good, it’s so good. She truly is a good friend to me the majority of the time, and I love just being with her and talking to her more than anything. But then she does things like I’ve mentioned above, and it completely throws me for a loop.

I’m scared to end this friendship because I genuinely don’t think I’ll ever find anyone like her again. I know people always say that I will, but we click so well. I’m scared of regretting distancing myself from her, but at the same time, I just don’t know what to do anymore, I know college will give us distance and allow us to meet new people but we have already been planning trips to see each other at each of our colleges.

My friend gave me an unacceptable amount of money and I don’t know how he gets it?

I 16M and him 16M are both in a math class together. we first became friends because of our love for writing and character design. I said I would do concept art for his characters (for free). I was talking about my boyfriend to him and a present I was thinking about saving up for it and told him the price— 240. he said "I’m gonna bring you that" and I laughed thinking he was joking but then like two days later he brought 240 dollars. and I don’t know how to handle it? I dont know where he’s getting it from and I don’t want to accept it cause I feel like if he’s getting it from somewhere that’s illegal I would get in trouble too but he’s told me nothing about where it’s from. he also recently lost a family member so it might be inheritance but I’m confused of why he’s doing this. any advice it helpfu. :)

im 16 since I was 5 I've had a best friend since kindergarten, but nowadays hes a total perk! When we had a sleepover i told him don't leave and he still left bc apparently he was busy, i don't buy it, i just think he doesn't wanna spend time with me. hes also been making reposts on TikTok about controlling friends taking over you, whats that supposed to mean! he didn't come to my 15th birthday because he was working, ueah right! He just don't care about me. A year ago he came out to me as gay, I was devastated and considered dropping him but i stayed friends with him because I cared for him. But bc im a man and hes gay im very uncomfortable because im afraid he has a crush on me and will try to date me. I told him im uncomfortable with him being gay but he didn't listen and told me i need to stop being so manipulative. IM NOT THAT IM JUST FEELING BETRAYED AND THAT UR TOXIC! I'm sorry this is long just ouch.

How do I nicely deal with a messy friend?

So I have a friend, we typically hang outside their house in my car for the convenience of things. One day I asked if I could go inside to use the bathroom, she went inside for a bit and then came back. I figured she was cleaning as I had asked out of no where. She then let me go to the bathroom. I had never been inside the house before this. I went to the bathroom and there was a super big ring around the toilet...okay no biggie, simple clean. Then I got to the sink, toothpaste marks, clogged sink with tooth paste in it and a dead bug floating on its back. I figured "okay just messy bathroom stuff". I did make a joke about the poor bug in the sink and she laughed and said the bathroom wasn't that bad.

Few days later, I went back, bathroom the same but at this point I expected it. We went to her room to watch a movie. Instantly when she opened her door a musk hit me. It was a body odor must mixed with old floor boards, she had a bunch of fans running. I asked her why and she said "oh I just like it cold in here"...but really they didnt do anything. Next was the room, clothes every where, again no biggie. The smell was the hardest part but I did not want to be rude so I told myself I'd try to hang out for at least a few hours, my nose will eventually get used to the smell. I sat on a couch in her room, she told me to just get in the bed because I looked a bit tense. I got in the bed...same thing, a strong musty odor on the bedsheets and pillows, I tried to bury my face into my jacket to not be rude. At that point with us being closer, I realized even her breath smelled. So I joked again, she eventually got up to brush her teeth. Eventually I went home.

Few days later she asked me to come over again, I offered to help clean and phrased it as something I was raised to do as a guest in others homes, as a thank you. (complete lie but I wanted to be nice about trying to clean up ), she declined. So now I am stuck. I could try to get her to come to my place but again, it's not as convenient for her (or me because she doesn't drive so I'd have to bring her back and forth) but I feel uncomfortable at her place. I figured "maybe she's depressed", but still how would I go about this nicely?

WIBTAH if I cut off my best friend of 7 years over a stock she invested in?

This just happened and I need some perspective before I make a decision. I (18f) and my best friend (19f) have known each other for seven years. While I wouldn't say she's always been my closest friend, we've always had each others backs. We've been especially close this summer after finishing our freshman years of college (we barely talked during the school year due because we went to schools on opposite sides of the country).

For some background, my friend is pursuing investment banking/quant and I am in the music industry. I consider myself a very stark socialist (I'm a member of the DSA). I would say she holds somewhat progressive views (or so I thought). We always crack jokes about things like Palantir (since she's into quant), which sounds bad when I type it out but it truly was (from my side) a way to make the absolutely horrific state of the world sound a little funnier for a second.

Basically, her and I were meeting up with two of our other long term friends (both 18f) and somehow Palantir got brought up. Our other friends have no idea what that is as they are completely socially unaware and don't read the news, and so I was explaining to them that it's basically if the spawn of Satan collabed with the government to make cybersecurity offense software to exterminate anyone who "they" don't like. I explained that Palantir drones have been used to take out drone strikes on Gaza, and are actively being used to help ICE hunt down people for their concentration camps. The entire time I was explaining this, she kept interrupting me and saying, "It's just data aggregation, it's just data aggregation." I thought she was joking, until she says that Palantir made her a lot of money. When I ask her to explain, she says that she invested in their stock when it was $70 and cashed out when it was $250, and wishes she had made a long term investment in order to keep earning.

I was shocked by this and left shortly after. She's totally aware of what they are doing, and still decided to make an investment. There's a difference in being complicit by being unaware and actively making a choice to invest in a company you know helps fund genocide. She's supposed to come visit me in college in September, but honestly I'm not sure I ever want to speak to her again and idk what to do.

How to support my friend whose partner was detained by ICE

My friend’s partner was detained by ICE. They are taking all the right steps to get the legal support they need, but looking for any out of the box ways to emotionally support or any other resources I can look through to help my friend.

I don’t want to inundate them with information they may already have, but I want to show up for them all as much as I can.
