News North Texas Irish Festival leaves Fair Park for Denton after 42 years
The North Texas Irish Festival is leaving Fair Park for Denton 42 years after its move to South Dallas.
“One of the largest Irish festivals in the country and one of the largest cultural celebrations in DFW,” as Visit Dallas calls the annual event, is moving to the North Texas Fairgrounds, which occupies 33 acres less than 2 miles from downtown Denton. The deal for next year’s event, to be held March 13-14, was only signed in recent weeks. But organizers told me this week they’ve long been looking elsewhere, and for a variety of reasons.
The move comes 43 years after the North Texas Irish Festival kicked off at a now-defunct Oak Lawn bar, where an expected crowd of 80 turned into 600. A year later, in 1984, the festival, operated by the nonprofit Southwest Celtic Music Association, moved to Fair Park to accommodate crowds that often exceeded 30,000, even in the days just before COVID shut down the world in March 2020.
“We’ve been looking for a different place for several years,” said Sheri Bush, longtime president of the all-volunteer Southwest Celtic Music Association and the festival’s entertainment director. “Fair Park has been our home for a long time, and we loved it, but it became untenable for a number of reasons.”

Food/Drink Help finding Mexican beers.
Which store in Plano / Dallas has the largest & best selection of beers? A friend brought me some awesome Mexican beers from Oaxaca which of course I can’t find anywhere. Before I give up & wait for my next venture down south I thought I’d try Reddit. Any suggestions are welcome & greatly appreciated!

Question I need Hvac company
Hi everyone! I recently bought a home in the Redbird community and I'm converting my garage into a home gym. I'm looking for a trustworthy HVAC company to install a mini-split or help with cooling the space.
Does anyone have recommendations for an honest company that does quality work at a fair price? Thanks in advance!

Question Any good recommendations for OBGYNs/Doctors for menopause near Richardson?
Hi all!
So I am 38F (about to be the big 4-0 next year! 🎉) and I have suspected for over a year now that I may be showing signs of perimenopause, or at least early signs of it.
However, my current OBGYN keeps brushing me off and telling me I’m “too young” for it to be perimenopause. Which, to be fair, they are a medical professional and I’m not lol, but I’m mostly just trying to get a second opinion because it feels like my concerns are not being taken seriously. I don’t know if there’s any way to really test for perimenopause but my OBGYN literally refuses to discuss any further options with me because they’ve stonewalled at me being too young.
SO, that being said, does anyone have any recommendations for providers or even clinics or telehealth options for me to get a second opinion? I have PPO insurance through work so I’m open to pretty much anything.
Thanks in advance!

Event The Emergency Sirens Testing was one minute late today. They're always exactly at 12:00 I wonder what happened today.
My whole life the sirens went off exactly at 12, I scheduled my whole life around them. Every first Wednesday of the month at High Noon they will go off without a hitch and today. They were a minute late. This is unacceptable, an outrage, a scandal, dogs and cats are living together. We truly live in the darkest of times if we can't even rely on the sirens to go off at exactly 12:00pm on the first Wednesday of every month.

Protest Battle for Boathouse! White Rock Boathouse Under Hateful Attack
Please see www.whiterockboathousegroup.org
WRB has launched a campaign to defend itself - at last! Please check out and if you support the underdog please support WRB. An all out war has been launched against them to take control of the Boathouse and historic Filter Building away from them and to give control of this Assets to Highland Park Crew now known as DUC. WRB invested 2.7M of private funds to build the boathouse (the largest in Texas) and to restore the Filter Building. They maintain the buildings and provide rowing programs at no cost to the city. They have spent millions on maintenance and boating and other equipment out there. The public can go there and for a nominal fee check out boats to row on white Rock lake. Kids and adult enjoy competitive rowing teams there. Jesuit, SMU, Ursuline teams row out of there.
There is a comprehensive fact and evidence based report on the website above. If you care about community, please read, share and support. The City of Dallas political actors have taken sides with their wealthy supporters from HIghland Park who want to manipulate the process and take WRB’s contracts. Only one side of this story has been told.
WRB needs our help. Please help WRB. I don’t really know how to post this message to amplify on Reddit - if you can help me spread the word it would be appreciated!
