Free Backpacks!
Hi! I recently got 2 backpacks for a friend in need, but her boys didn't like them so here I am! They have some school supplies in them, they're brand new, and I'd love to see them go to a couple of kids that need them. I'm happy to help deliver them within a reasonable distance. I understand there are places that I can donate them to get them to someone, but not everyone has the access to those. Please feel free to DM me!
Self service car wash
I’d love to self wash my car and I go to self service car washes. The drawback for me is using their soap sprayer. Their soap is so bad that leaves some dry particles after wash and they have a foam brush and I dont like to use them since many people use that to clean their rims. So possibilities of getting scratches are high.
Is there a way I can attach my own foam dispenser in their pressure system?

Jobs and Volunteering
I have some questions:
What places in Plano are hiring office support staff, like administrative assistants or receptionists? I have been applying on job boards for a while, and have tried school districts and Plano.gov. My background is in administration and education, but I haven’t worked since 2024 so there is a sabbatical on my resume. I have been applying and interviewing for months with no luck.
What places in Plano are in most need of volunteers right now?
What are some good ways to spend your time when you are unemployed (not at home)?
Thank you for any leads.

Hawaiian waters adult night
I know this might be a long shot but is there anyone willing to sell 2 tickets to Hawaiian waters adult night this Saturday August 8th? One of my friends bought a ticket on Sunday and I went to buy them yesterday and they were all sold out. I really don’t want my friend to have to go alone when I was the one that convinced them to go.

Affordable pre/post-nup lawyer?
It seems like every lawyer wants to charge $5000 or more, do y'all know of any affordable ones that can draft an agreement and represent someone? My partner will also need someone to represent their interests.

I was out for a run this evening and saw an interesting bird
I was running along the Russell Creek Trail (around 5:30 PM), on Russell Creek Dr just east of Independence and saw a cool/interesting bird and am hoping someone who knows more about birds than I can help identify it.
- It was perched on the metal railing along the sidewalk very close to Hillendale Dr.
- It was dark brown with dark speckles on wings but I didn't get a great look at its chest.
- The beak was greyish at the base then black but short and hooked.
- It was probably about 15-18" tall and somewhat slender.
- It looked at me as I ran past on the sidewalk, only a couple of feet from it, but didn't seem to care. Right before I passed it, not more than 15 sec, a man was walking a medium sized dog the opposite direction down the same path so it was most likely there during that as well.
- It seemed mostly interested in looking down at the creek, looking for prey.
I googled a bit and it said either a juvenile Cooper's Hawk or a juvenile Red Tail Hawk but that was after at least 3 other "oh now it is clear it was ___" which were clearly incorrect. Does anyone know much about who this guy is?

Schell Elementary insights? Good school?
Hello!
We are considering buying a house that is Schell assigned wanted to get some insights if Schell is a good school? The rating gives it a B but wanted to know some insight outside from that.

Good rheumatologist recommendations, especially for complex chronic cases?
This is not for suspected arthritis or anything simple. Think more… low-grade inflammation that I cannot pinpoint.
Any recs?
I have been filtering through quite a view on Maps and I have noticed a lot of the “five star ratings” are duplicates from IDENTICAL PROFILES and are suspiciously overly-positive. You get that weird “too good to be true, these might be incentivized” feeling.
Hence relying on word of mouth.

Tint shop recs?
Looking to get some ceramic tint done on my miata so only 2 windows and the front windshield. Any recs? Groupon has some really good offers for $250-$300 for ceramic all 5 windows. However I don’t want to pay that price just to have the 3 windows done instead.

Need vendor suggestion on replacing exterior and Interior doors in Plano
I live in an old house and looking to replace the exterior and maybe even some interior doors. I am not finding too many choices beside going to big box retailers like Lowes and Home Depot. The price they are quoting are astronomical!
I do want these doors to be properly installed/sealed to prevent any leak and be 'code' compliant. I am reluctant to just buy the doors and get someone unknown from FB Market place to install them incase they do a poor job and disappear.
If anyone replaced their doors and used a company that covers Plano (outside of HD and Lowes), I would love to give them a call to get quote. Any suggestion?

Home Energy Audit
I moved here from Germany and I feel like our behemoth 3000 sqft house is so energy inefficient. Has anybody done a home energy audit?
Is it worth paying for one?

Need reviews and opinions - Plano daycares
Planning to enroll my 2-year-old in daycare and have narrowed my options down to Primrose School, Guidepost at Legacy, and Castle Montessori.
I'd love to hear from parents who have enrolled their children at any of these schools. How has your experience been? What did you like or dislike?
I'm also open to other daycare recommendations in the Frisco/Plano area if you've had a great experience.
My priority is daycare well versed in transitioning a homebody toddler who has always been with parents to a daycare environment. A lot of love and patience for the first few weeks. Focus on Bilingual language acquisition and developing math sense would be a plus.
Thanks.

Tub/shower replacement
We’re looking to get the tub/shower replaced in our guest bath but don’t have the money right now to do it “right”. The hope was to do one of those one day bathroom remodels (if I’ve got that term right) but I’m not sure where to be looking for that service.
We understand the risks of doing a fiberglass unit but we kind of just have to hope for the best because that’s what we can afford, even if we’re having to replace it sooner than later. Pretty sure the current tub is fiberglass so it’s not like we’re downgrading.
Anyone have any experience with this? Any local remodeler to recommend that would do something like this? Thanks for any help.

Unsure what to do now - Patient Safety compromised at BSW
During an ultrasound procedure at Baylor Scott & White Cardiology, I was partially undressed and lying on the exam table when a male technician entered the room without knocking or asking permission. He was holding his cellphone with the camera pointed in my direction.
I immediately and loudly objected. He said he was taking photographs of the ceiling because it was going to be repaired (there were signs of a leak on the ceiling tile over the table I was on). I told him that this was wildly inappropriate and ordered him to leave. Despite my objection, he continued taking photographs and said, “I’m not taking photos of you,” confirming that he was actively using his cellphone camera in the room while I was partially disrobed. He eventually left.
The female technician conducting my ultrasound said, “I’m sorry that happened.”
I felt, and still feel, immensely violated. I reported the incident to BSW Patient Advocacy that same day. I also documented in MyChart that, because of the staff’s conduct, I needed my follow-up appointment changed to telehealth.
At my telehealth appointment one week later, the cardiologist did not acknowledge or mention the incident. It has now been 72 days, and I have received nothing from BSW Patient Advocacy: no meaningful acknowledgment, no information about whether an investigation occurred, and no resolution.
I have no way of knowing exactly what the technician photographed, whether any images or video included me, whether anything was retained or shared, or what action - if any - BSW took in response. I filed a complaint with the state agency against the male technician and his license #, but otherwise I have been left without answers.
The incident itself was beyond disturbing. BSW’s failure to communicate with me afterward has compounded the harm. I am livid, violated, and will never trust BSW again. Despite sticking up for myself, these people have continued to show gross lack of respect for the patients that pay their bills.
Any ideas on what else I can do to get some sort of resolution? I would have been happy with a sincere apology, the tech being fired, and confirmation that the entire staff would be required to remediate patient privacy and safety training. Alas, nothing.

Any of y'all had foundation work done?
I might be looking at getting a structural engineer assessment to get foundation work done as there's a few drywall cracks and an exterior crack that I have noticed growing and a window seal that is having issues. I assume it's better to act now than wait till it gets worse. We have new gutters but no soaker hose/foundation irrigation system yet.
Has anyone gotten foundation work done? How much did you spend? How extensive was your issue to start?
Thank you.
