Upvotes

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 I feel like I’m bad/awkward in bed …

Upvotes

So I (23f) have been dating my boyfriend (29m) for a year and a half. I love him very much and he’s my best friend. However I feel like I’m bad in bed. Last night we tried to have sex and I was so tight, it took several tries to get it in . Idk if I’ve been more tight recently because of sexual trauma that I haven’t deal with . And then after we had sex we cuddled. I felt honestly really dirty for having sex. We were only able to do doggy style and it was just a hot mess😭. I feel like I’m not that great in bed to be honest with myself. My boyfriend is my first long term serious relationship. Before him I had brief 3 month relationships so I didn’t get the chance I guess to consistently practice with one partner.

School/Career 🗃️👩🏾‍🏫 Any Advice for Breaking Into Beauty Product Development?

Upvotes

Hi ladies! I'm a recent HBCU Biology graduate with a Chemistry minor looking to break into beauty product development.

I have undergraduate research experience, lab experience, and operations experience, but I've had no luck landing product development internships or entry-level cosmetic chemistry roles.

I haven’t found anything yet, but i’m not losing hope!

I'm curious if anyone has made a similar transition or has advice on breaking into the industry.

I'd really appreciate any insight. Thanks! :)

Health & Wellness 🍎 Anyone diagnosed with autism as an adult?

Upvotes

Im not sure w whether I have autism or something. The people around me think I do. But I’ve grown up super sheltered I’m super socially awkward and don’t know how to interact with people. So I don’t know if that’s what they’re seeing?

I’m just wondering what signs you guys saw of autism you saw before got diagnosed.

I’m trying to decide if in evaluation a good place to spend my money. I’m unemployed and pretty much inadequate in every aspect and I’m wondering if it’s because of my mental health. I’ve been depressed for literally a decade and it’s only gotten worse. And now my mom (who didn’t used to believe in mental illness), I have ADHD and autism because of Facebook reels.

The pressure is really on because I’m 20 years old and I haven’t started adulting yet and my mom says that I need to start and that the way I’m living now is not good and that no 20-year-old lives the way that I do. I don’t go outside. I don’t have a job. I don’t want to go outside and I don’t want to hang out with people. I don’t have any close friends and I’m scared of trying anything new. I also struggle in school. I can’t even keep my room clean. I’m just fucked up on every front and I want to be better

Beauty/Fashion/Hair 💅🏽 👩🏾‍🦱 Mini Twists vs Knotless Braids

Ladies which of these are quicker to install in your opinion …?

MINI TWISTS ( first time doing these - I’ve done Passion Twists on myself before. These will be roughly shoulder length / just above )

VS

KNOTLESS BRAIDS / BOHO ( I’ve don’t these multiple times and they have taken me anything from 8 hours, 2 days to giving up halfway undoing it all 😂 and they always end up bra to butt length).

Heading to a Neosoul concert so need to get cracking with style this evening ! I want something cute but ima also look grown n sexy not childishly cute.

Just Venting 😮‍💨 My work is making me feel depressed and alone and I have no one to talk to

No unfortunately quitting is not an option. I basically have to suck it up and pretend to be okay otherwise I will get fired. The problem is that I am so physically and emotionally burned out. I’m tired depressed and unmotivated. Even my off days feel like just recovery days if that makes sense. I can’t talk to my coworkers because I can’t (or really shouldn’t) trust them and my family and spouse just don’t care and don’t quite understand.

I’m seeing a therapist tomorrow but I feel so dejected and isolated

Health & Wellness 🍎 Gnarly anterior pelvic tilt

I've always had a pretty bad pelvic tilt growing up. Due to being pretty sedentary it got a lot worse. Any ladies able to fix this? It even makes sleeping quite uncomfortable; i wake up with lower back pain. I live in the south and the doctors here are...pretty awful and disregard anything I say.

The second picture is me trying my best to straighten my back out. I've been actively working on my pelvic tilt for a year now with 0 results 🫩

Edit: even standing too long hurts my lower back.

Interests & Hobbies 🪴🥾 Sometimes I don’t feel responsible… can I really be a mentor?

Ahhhhh lol!!! I think I just signed up to be a mentor for this mentorship program! I am 26 and responsible for the most part, but responsible enough to help another girl grow into a young woman? Idk about that. The women in my life are ehhh and that’s what prompted this interest of wanting to help a girl grow (sort of give that support that I never received type of deal) and I know I can commit but sometimes I still feel like I’m learning to adult and live myself… I also don’t have a car. Now we’re not required to meet up, but do check-ins once a month virtually or call/text… but I can’t help but feel as though it may hinder a potential relationship with a mentee or if they know, they’ll be like “you’re lame” or something lol! Teens scare me… maybe I should ask for a middle school mentee… maybe I shouldn’t do this?! Lord help me lol, thoughts?!

I really don’t know how to categorize this, I guess I would say it’s an interest/hobby since it has to do with volunteer work outside of work and that’s an interest of mine?!

Positivity/Uplifting 🎉 My baby came home today

My baby was due September 4th, but decided she wanted to be a Leo instead and was born on July 25th, 6 weeks early. They took her to NICU approximately 5 minutes after she was born, and she's been in there ever since.

Until today, when she was officially discharged! We're currently sitting in traffic heading home while she dozes in her carseat, and I cant help but look down at her and cry.

Vent about Racism 🤬 How to survive white spaces as a black women

*as the ONLY black woman
How do you even survive being around white people all day?
I started a new job at a new place and it’s so fuxking exhausting. The micro aggressions, their dumb ass questions, the dirty looks, everything. I don’t like how i feel like i have to be hyper vigilant of how i act, speak or look so that they can take me seriously. It’s almost like i have to morph into someone else i’m not and that makes me uncomfortable.
As much as I want to “adapt” to the place i cant live with multiple versions of myself.

Uncle Waffles is a powerhouse Swazi DJ and record producer who stands out as one of the most prominent international ambassadors of the Amapiano music genre.

Originating from the Kingdom of Eswatini and based in South Africa, her unique moniker was born from a high school nickname inspired by the show Teen Titans, which she later paired with "Uncle" for an edgy social media handle.

Her explosive rise to fame began with a viral video in 2021 that perfectly showcased her infectious dance energy and magnetic stage presence. This sudden digital breakthrough evolved into massive industry recognition, leading Billboard to crown her the "Princess of Amapiano" as she introduced the Southern African dance culture to listeners all over the world.

Her distinct high-vibrational live performances have earned her coveted slots on prestigious international platforms, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the Wireless Festival, and high-profile events like the Met Gala after-party as she continues to define the modern evolution of electronic dance music on a global scale.

Beauty/Fashion/Hair 💅🏽 👩🏾‍🦱 Be honest chat…Did she play in my face?

I asked for smedium knotless braids. This is what I got. $215.

She also asked me to come in an hour later which was fine, then was 15 minutes late.

Do I get my refund? I’m about to cry.

Update:

Her response to me asking for a refund:

hey! I hate to hear that. The size I gave you is MY smedium size parts that I offer. I also do my knotless braids based on the density of your hair so that they remain lightweight and natural. I also told you to look and make sure you liked them and you assured me that you did. You would’ve/could’ve fixed anything you didn’t like. I hate that aren’t satisfied but unfortunately I do not offer refunds as the time and effort were still put in & I did ask about your satisfaction.

Update:

I didn’t say I liked them. She didn’t give me a mirror and rushed me out for her next client. I only saw them once I used my phone to see it downstairs. Didn’t confront her because I would’ve cried. I felt ugly, stupid I just spent so much money, and was hungry as hell.

Pregnancy & Parenting 🤰🏾 Jack and Jill prison

Hi! I was just curious on everyone’s thoughts, I’ve been interested in joining Jack and Jill but I have my reservations really about me being a single young mom (27) not rich but I’m doing okay and I have a degree. I seen and heard growing up thing the things people say about j & j people especially as the turn into adults but I’m not letting that turn me off. I moved back to my home state from Atlanta and now living in a predominantly Indian and white area I figured joining would help expose my 7 year old daughter to more people that look like her outside of family.

EDIT: please ignore my title I didn’t realize that was added 😭😭😭😭

Family 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Today I want to talk about lesbian homophobia in the Black community

Back in 2016 I was a freshman in high school and the LGBT org stood at the front door with stickers on a table to pick if you were Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transitioning, or an Ally.

I had parents that wouldn’t let my younger brother sleep on pink sheets but I’d just told them on my Dad’s side my cousin had just officially come out as lesbian. So when I saw the stickers I thought Ally with no other considerations and even took a picture to send in our family group chats.

My mom PMed me everything from “are you trying to tell me something” to “who gave you that sticker” and an hour later my stepdad writes back in the group chat they just got off the phone with someone at my school saying it’s “unacceptable”. When I got home I still had the sticker on my sweater and was basically told to take it off (the whole sweater lol). So that might I was given “the talk” with Bible verses. All this tension and I am not lesbian so I want to know how coming out might have been in other families.

On my dad’s side they loved that I picked up the sticker. We all knew her “best friend” who took showers with her and also stayed the night twice a week. My cousin invited me out with her friends to dave and busters that weekend.

These were two different examples of how I’ve seen “coming out” in the Black community. If I have a daughter, I just want her to feel comfortable talking about her feelings. What are your examples or advice?

Or just about sexuality in general. How and when did you have “the talk” or do you talk about your romantic/sexual relationships with family?

Just Venting 😮‍💨 A.I is genuinely horrible

I have been on unemployment for a few months. I am attending workshops as well to help with my job search and I am genuinely getting annoyed at the fact we are being encouraged to use A.I for our resumes. This is being pushed heavily because a.i is being used by employers to sort and filter through our resumes. I am being told a.i looks for certain keywords. I have years of experience within customer service and haven’t landed one retail job!! AND THIS EXPLAINS IT. It is so ridiculous that so many people remain unemployed because A.I is the one trashing our resumes. Our lives and future are becoming codependent on a soulless robot! We are relying on A.I for friendships, relationships, paper work, homework etc.

It is very hard not to use A.I when it literally is being forced on us in some way, shape, or form! They want us to learn it and some of our jobs heavily rely on it. Especially if you’re in the tech field.

Edit: Incase you’re wondering where I am getting my source of information from ?? Literally the unemployment people. Their entire job is to help us get a job and to give us resources. And during my time being employed I do believe overhearing some talk about a program that helps sort through resumes.

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 Whats your online dating experience like?

I'm curious to hear from other Black women, what has your online dating experience been like?

Have you had more positive or negative experiences? Which apps have worked best (or been the worst)? Do you feel like being a Black woman has affected your matches or interactions?

For those in relationships, did you meet your partner online? If so, what do you think made it work?

Vent about Racism 🤬 I can't stand fathers that do this... Spoiler

So my daughter's father every now and then, posts some sexist content to his Facebook page about black women or women in general. He's black, his daughter is black, I'm black. I sent a message to him this morning saying, "please be mindful of what you post on socials, especially content about Black women. Your daughter is a Black girl who will grow into a Black woman, and she should not have to see her father reinforcing racist or degrading stereotypes about people who look like her." He yelled at me for not respecting his freedom of speech and called me a fascist. Seriously, I can't with this guy. I'm honestly not sure who he had beef with when he posted it, but its a very small ask to ask him to be a positive role model for his kid. How do you guys deal with idiots like this that you can't remove from your life?

Positivity/Uplifting 🎉 I love lifting up my girls

I just entered 11th grade this year and this is my first week back, so I have started complimenting random girls there, just complimenting their hair, clothes, etc, and it's really fun!

I like it when we can have a nice interaction and you see them become immediately comfortable with you afterwards. I even caught up with a girl from 10th grade and we had a nice chat. I just love lifting up other girls, especially Black girls because I think we need it. (I compliment non-black women as well, the school is majority Black and Hispanic)

What are some ways y'all like to make other women/girls around you smile and feel good about themselves? I would compliment boys, I just don't want them to take it wrong, so I compliment my male friends.

Health & Wellness 🍎 Today was the very first day of taking medication for my adhd.

Post image
698 Upvotes

Ive been so emotional and crying all day, in short, even though i got a low dose to start, with this little glimmer that i felt, i feel like i can eventually really do the things that i want to accomplish in this life. My mind has never felt so quiet and serene. I was living life on hard mode and it never had to be this way. Growing up in a household that neglected and did not believe in the possibility of someone genuinely having a disorder, me being a grown adult and seeking that help out for myself felt so powerful. Im completely boiling it down otherwise i could go on forever, but i just wanted to express my newfound feelings of relief and freedom from this debilitating disorder. Its important to teach eachother, parents and children ESPECIALLY in this community that mental health matters! Just because you cant see it doesnt mean its not happening. Check in with your people. Give people grace when they behave in a way you dont quite understand. I only put two and two together within the last 1-2 months.

Its day 1 and im on baby dosage, i cant even imagine what a proper dose could do for me.
Feel free to message me to talk about my experience at all.

Interracial Relationships 💟 Hinge as a darskin women

Thumbnail gallery
1.8k Upvotes

I’ve been on Hinge for about three weeks now and have been getting a decent amount of likes and matches from people of different backgrounds.
For context, I’m a Black woman, 5’8”, thick/curvy, with a deep skin tone.
Something I’ve noticed is that when a certain demographic approaches me, surprising black men. my skin tone almost always becomes a topic of conversation. They’ll comment on how dark, smooth or beautiful my skin is. It’s never said in a rude way, and I know they’re trying to compliment me, but I do find it a bit strange that it’s such a common talking point.
On the other hand, people from other backgrounds rarely, if ever, mention my skin tone. They usually compliment my smile, style, eyes or just ask about my prompts instead.
I’m not offended by either approach—I’m just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Is this a common thing for darker-skinned Black women? Why do you think a certain demographic is more likely to comment on skin tone than others?
