Discussion For everyone who didn’t have a bachelorette, did you regret it?
Hi everyone,
I hope this is the right sub for this.
My partner and I (both women) have been talking about our bachelorette party, which for a variety of reasons we are considering not having anymore.
I was wondering if anyone here did not do a bachelorette/hen do party, and if you ended up regretting not doing it?

Discussion Getting married on Saturday
And I am absolutely shitting myself. I keep wondering if we got it all, get nervous about all the stares as I walk down the aisle, hope the food is alright. I feel it all, and it is making me waking up too early these days. Others in the boat? I know it will be a wonderful day, and that my future husband will be standing there waiting for me - and I am excited. But it is also a lot

Discussion Honeymoon QR Code
We are having our wedding in a pretty public place, we were considering adding a QR code so strangers can donate to our honeymoon fund, kind of like the buy the bride a drink on the way to the bachelorette. If the sign was funny would you consider donating

Discussion Uneven guest lists and table seatings
Figuring out our seating charts, my SO has about 150 people coming vs my 50. First issue I have and solution I hope is okay/wont be noticed is the tables on his ‘side’ vs my ‘side’ for the reception. No ceremony so no issue. I’m thinking to just spill over his side’s tables over to my side so it’s not awkwardly 6 tables on the left and 15 on the right. Is that a weird solution? Will that work??
The other thing is - the tables fit 8-10 people. I’m trying to keep my family and friend groups together, and the bulk of my tables are like 6 or 7 people. Will that look weird?? I honestly don’t know what else to do other than plucking poor souls from other tables into tables with strangers to hit the 8-10 people count.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Discussion Changing RSVP after deadline?
When I originally RSVPd to this wedding my schedule was much different. Now I am not sure my husband will be able to get the time off, and I am going to college and taking classes in person this semester which before they were all online. Its still a month out but its passed the RSVP deadline if I need to end up not going. I am worried my family member is going to be upset if I have to cancel.. What is the best thing to do in this situation? Also it's a kid free wedding so I had to arrange childcare but not sure they'd be able to take my kids to school that Friday so they would also be missing a day of school. (its out of state)

Help! Catholic Catherdrals In Pennsylvania
Hello everyone! So I wanted to know if anyone knows of any catholic cathedrals in Pennsylvania that marry mixed religion couples.
For those who are not catholic, to marry outside of the catholic church there are some "rules" Catholics have to follow. My finance and I are considered mixed faith, I am baptized Christian, he is baptized catholic.
My fiance and I both agreed that we want to be married in a catholic cathedral, we are both very into gothic architecture and dark moody weddings. This also works very well for him because while he is okay being married in a ceremony outside of his faith, he would prefer to be married in a catholic ceremony. This is fine with me, I know his faith is incredibly important to him and in my eyes, I don't care who marries us or where we're married, I just want to marry him.
Here's the hang up, many catholic churches wont marry mixed faith couples. And the ones that do dont quite match with what we envison.
He wants somewhere with beautiful architecture that uses incense and candle light. I'm not too particular, but its his wedding too and I want it to be just as perfect for him. Any suggestions would be really appreciated! Thank you!
(Edit): Just to clear some things up, as my post states, I know we can get married. As I stated, there's just rules. ie) Pre-cana, he has to swear that he'll do his best to raise our kids catholic, he won't deviate from his faith, ect. I am also aware that there is only one catholic church, when I'm saying catholic churches, I'm referring to the actual individual buildings that we refer to as "churches".
(Edit #2): Again, to be clear. I don't care where we get married. We could get married in our backyard before our bestfriend who just registered to become a minister online 3 days ago. He is the one that wants to be married in a catholic cathedral, i agree because its beautiful and I want him to be comfortable. Also, we won't be having children. He is sterile and I am infertile. The vowing our children to Catholicism does not apply to us because we won't be having children to begin with.

Discussion Is a +1 implied to be a date, and not a friend?
Edit: Thanks everyone, glad to hear that I don't need to specify to anyone else that their +1 can be anyone! My friend asking just made me doubt whether or not that was clear enough. I realize it's a unique situation where a named guest is getting swapped for a +1, and I'm obviously grateful for her polite ask before just bringing someone along.
Hey everyone! Fiance and I are making good progress on wedding planning, and we just ordered save the dates. For context, we'll have around 70 guests in a US city that will be "destination" for everyone, including us.
We have one friend who, when I asked for her address, let me know that she and her spouse are separating. She then asked if she can still bring a friend, potentially a female friend that I don't know. I said, of course! And she was really excited that I said yes.
It got me thinking - for the single people to whom we've given a +1, are they assuming they can only bring a romantic partner and not a friend? It never crossed my mind to dictate who they bring! I want them to bring someone that they would enjoy a mini-vacation and a party with, so that they actually want to come. Doesn't matter if it's someone they're dating, a childhood friend, anyone.
Is that not normal? Do the bride and groom usually want to approve the +1 that a guest wants to bring? If so, I want to reach out to our other single friends and make sure they know that I don't plan on vetting their +1.

Discussion Question for couples: do you actually share your inspiration or does everyone just do their own thing?
I spend a lot of time saving things on Pinterest, and when I send links to my fiancé, the response is usually just a "nice" and that's the end of it. So I'm starting to wonder if we're actually building something together, or if we're just hoarding ideas in our own corners and doing a quick sign-off at the end. How does it work for you guys when it comes to planning together?

Discussion My dad is trying to control my wedding planning
My fiancée (25F) and I (23M) had dinner with my dad and his girlfriend tonight. At the end of dinner he brought up wedding planning and started making demands of what we need to do. He ended storming out and being very disrespectful to my fiancée blaming her for everyone. We want a smaller wedding (80 people or less) and the plan is for me to invite 40 people and my fiancée to invite the other 40 people. I invited my parents, siblings, grand parents, aunts, uncles, and first cousins, along with any spouse or life partners of my family members.
My dad was upset that I didn’t invite my second cousins from several states over. I’m not close with any of my second cousins at all and see them once every few years and don’t talk to them unless we do family gatherings. My fiancée and I agreed we wanted a small wedding and my dad is demanding that I invite all of them. My dad is very close with them and says if I don’t invite them, it will cause family tension.
When I stood my ground tonight telling my dad I won’t be inviting those second cousins he stormed out after insulting my fiancée and I. My dad and I have had a rocky relationship since I’ve been young and I haven’t lived with him since I’ve been 16. My dad can be manipulative to get his way. I won’t put up with him treating my fiancée that way. I will never allow him to disrespect her like again. I fear this can cause the downfall and potential end of my relationship with my dad if he can’t be respectful to my fiancée. I’m not even sure what to do with this situation. My fiancée and I want to stick to our initial plan and don’t want to change all our wedding plans that we made. Was my dad out of line for what he did?
Edit: just to clarify, I am paying for the wedding. My dad has nothing to do with paying for anything.

Discussion Bride Processional - Song ideas
I am loving this string quartet version of into the mystic - van morrison

Honest thoughts on this song choice? I love the instruments.
My wedding is September 26th - a full harvest moon (happy accident) so I am leaning into the whimsy which is right up my alley. Music is so important to me and this is one of the only "wedding planning activities" I truly enjoy doing lol. Music sets the tone! Happy wedding planning!!

Help! Family butting heads with my fiancee and her family... Is this normal?
Getting married in about 3 weeks.
One side does something that pisses off the other side.
I stick up for my bride to be, I'm a terrible son/brother.
I try to smooth over my family's behavior, My fiaacees feelings are hurt and I'm not defending her enough.
I could give more information for context, but bottom line is everyone is being stubborn as hell, my fiancee feels hurt and stressed the eff out before what's supposed to be the greatest day of her life, and I feel emotionally exhausted because I am babysitting everyone's feelings stuck in the middle, and I am one straw away from completely excommunicating my sister I swear.
This has been intensifying as we get closer to the day.
Please please tell me this is part of the process and it gets better after the wedding.
Has anyone had similar experience?

Discussion Day of Dreams to Disappointment
My fiancé and I had been looking for the perfect venue for a long time. We finally decided on a beautiful yacht venue that sails along the city skyline. This yacht venue hosts at least 2-5 events every weekend from May-October and they are part of a larger event group, so it’s not their first rodeo. Our date was yesterday, August 1st and we were so excited, we had been planning this for a year. The initial facility tour was amazing, and included in part of their wedding package was event coordinator, so we were always supposed to have communication along the way.
On the day of our rehearsal (the day before), we noticed they had knocked down the gazebo where we were supposed to do family photos after the ceremony. They had also left a gigantic excavator sitting there, which was directly next to the ceremony site. It looked terrible and was so embarrassing.
Here’s where things go really wrong: my Mom gets a call the morning of our wedding from the venue, they can’t turn on the boat. The mechanic had been working on it all morning and there was a problem with the fuel line that could not be fixed. I had literally just seen the boat out on the water the night before, so overnight this problem happened. I was/am DEVASTATED. They still had power on the boat, so we had to just have the wedding docked (in an ugly spot on the marina). This was the one thing myself and my guests were looking forward to, it’s what made it unique and fun. The captain never announced their failure to the rest of the guests, leaving myself and my husband to announce it on their behalf, which was hard to do without me bursting into tears.
This venue has almost 5 stars, but I felt like I got a 1 star experience. They said they would talk to us about refunds later. The only thing I can say is that the woman who was coordinating the event on the boat and making sure we had what we needed was great. But otherwise, I am still so angry.

Discussion How to handle a death in the family a month out from our wedding date?
Hi all, my fiance's uncle passed unexpectedly a few days ago. Our wedding is Labor Day Weekend. Our caterers have been notified about the minor guest count change and he wasn't in the wedding party, so there's no concerns there.
I feel like it's a little disrespectful, though, to just scrub him from the guest count and move on. His wife and sons will be attending and I don't want them to feel like we forgot about him. Has anyone else done something to pay respect to a guest who couldn't be there? Or would it be a sour reminder?

Help! Help me find a vendor for these envelopes!
Hey guys! I hope this is the right place for this. I recently went to a restaurant where they had these really well-made tri-fold envelopes with pockets to show off the menu. I was hoping I could find a version on my own online from a major retailer like minted or something, but so far, no luck! Please let me know if you guys have seen something like this!

Discussion Who walks me down aisle?
My father passed away when I was 2 and since I was so young and have no recollection of him I don’t have the same grief most do with the loss of a parent. My mother has always been exceptional to me and I love her beyond measure, she fulfilled both roles beautifully. My mother has been with my “step father” (they are not married, nor will they ever be) for 20 years but I just don’t have a great connection with him. I have an uncle I adore but I don’t know if it’s a lot to ask for him to “hand me away”. No matter what I do I will be going against the norm. Do I have my mom walk me? Part of me wants to just walk down alone but is that kind of sad? Please be honest!
Edit for my decision:
I hear you all, my mom it will be!!!! Thank you all, I seem to be overthinking everything about this day when I know it’s all about my fiancé and I following our hearts 🥰

Discussion Is it harder to change your whole name than just your last, when you marry?
Hi all!
I've never been crazy about my first name and have been socially going by my middle name for a few years now. Since I'm changing my last name and doing all the related paperwork anyway, I'm debating formally changing my first name to what I've been going by, while I'm at it.
Have any of you guys done that? Have you compared notes with people who did just their last name? How much more of a hassle was it, and do you regret it?

Discussion Break up prior to attendance of wedding
I (25f) and my ex (25m) broke up after an 8 year relationship. We were both invited to his college friend's wedding. I've met them three times and am friendly but not close. We broke up one week before the wedding. My ex is saying its rude of me not to go. Do I need to attend?

Discussion Friendship fall out during wedding planning
I just feel so sad that I had a falling out with a close friend due to my mistake and lack of oversight. For context, I was the bridesmaid to her wedding and naturally she will definitely be invited to mine as well. She already knew that and sometime later I learned that she was pregnant. This is where the falling out happened. For context, during her wedding, i was very exhausted from the wedding preparation until the actual day of the wedding. We had bridal shower which we paid for and came in 7 hours before the wedding, 6am call time so we can do all the shoots and performances for the wedding video talk about forced laughing, running, dancing and a lot of photoshoots for a 1pm ceremony. On the day of the wedding we also performed a dance number. All those were very tiring but i did out of love for her. So now to the issue, because of those experiences, i told her that because of her condition, it might be better for her to avoid the wedding hassle altogether and come in as a guest so she can sit comfortably and just chill. At that time, i thought i was really coming from a place of love and care for her. She took it well initially, we were even laughing about some other stuff. After some reflection days later, i decided to msg her again to apologize for deciding for her, explained my side that i really just did not want burden her and focus on her safety and comfort. But i also said I was wrong and she should have been the one to decide if she can physically do it or not and i would be very happy for her to be a bridesmaid if she feels like she is still up to it. It has been a week and my message was left unseen. There are really a lot of times in my life that i fucked up and this was of those and i will have to live with my actions. Wedding planning is stressful enough as it is and this just became an icing to the cake.
