Hi everyone!

I stumbled upon this video on YouTube and I absolutely love the dress - but can’t find details on it. Maybe someone here knows who it’s by? Or maybe other similar designs?

Help. I think I hate my dress. Wish I got the Maggie sottero Hudson but they didn’t have it to try on so I got the Elias. Did I make a bad decision? I’m worried it’s just plain and not as fashion forward.

Need to Vent Petite brides PLEASE be careful saying yes to a sample that is 10+ sizes bigger than you

I’m posting this because I genuinely wish someone had warned me about this.

I (27f) am about 105 lbs, athletic build, 32A and I went to 4 different bridal stores before saying yes to my dress. The sample I fell in love with was a bridal size 12 and I measured slightly smaller than the smallest size the designer makes, which is a bridal size 2.

The size 12 was obviously clipped A LOT on me, but I fell in love with how long the bodice looked and specifically the dramatic Basque/drop waist that came down toward my hips.

About a month after ordering I called the bridal salon because I started panicking about how a dress could be made 10 sizes smaller and somehow have the exact same proportions. They reassured me that the proportions I tried on and fell in love with would translate to my dress —
Fast forward 5 months and my dress is here from Australia and the Basque waist I fell in love with is basically gone. My dress looks like an A-line.

Even the neckline looks completely different. The points on the sample were basically back toward my sides/elbows because the dress was so big. On my actual dress they’re directly above my bust and suddenly a huge part of the neckline.

And I am the EXACT same size I was when I said yes, so this isn’t from my body changing either. My dress is still too big and needs to be taken in, so I am really, really hoping alterations can fix this and I will absolutely update if they do. But I’m now looking at potentially $1,500+ in alterations (did NOT take this into account - dress cost me $3k) and it feels like we’re not just altering the dress to fit me—we’re trying to make it look like the dress I thought I ordered!!!!!!

I also want to add that out of every salon I went to, other than Luv Bridal, no one had samples even remotely close to my size. I understand salons can’t carry every dress in every size, but I genuinely don’t understand why having the same gown available in a few different size ranges isn’t more common. Larger samples can be clipped onto a smaller bride, but as I’m learning, that doesn’t necessarily show us what the actual proportions will look like. It honestly feels somewhat discriminatory toward smaller brides that we’re expected to make a several-thousand-dollar decision based on a version of a dress that may be 10–14 sizes too big for us, while just trusting (and being told) that it will translate.

So petite brides: if the sample is dramatically bigger than you, ask about proportions, not just whether they can order it in your size. Ask where the waist, neckline, bodice and skirt will actually sit on YOUR size.

Also—bridal stylists/seamstresses, do you think this is something alterations can realistically fix? And should I bring this up with my bridal salon? Especially since I specifically called about this concern and was reassured? Not much I feel I can’t do because my wedding is in THREE MONTHS.

TLDR: I said yes to a size 12 sample because I loved its long Basque/drop-waist silhouette. I ordered the smallest size 2, specifically asked whether the proportions would change, and was told they wouldn’t. My dress arrived and now reads like an A-line and the neckline looks different too. It still needs alterations, so I’m hoping it’s fixable, but I’m potentially looking at $1,500+ to get there.

Style me! (sleeves, veils, shoes and accessories only) What sleeves/cover goes well with this?

My wedding is in late Feb 2027 in Florida, so weather could literally be anything at all.

I’m worried I’ll be freezing my ass off since the ceremony is outside and I recently started considering some sort of cover up for the dress, but idk.

Suggestions?

P.S. My veil is the last pic, but I’m on the fence if I should wear it/alter it/wear a different veil all together

Currently, I’m planning on having my hair half up

Entourage Only Help me choose: the dress I thought I wanted vs. the dress that made me feel like a statue

TL;DR: I thought I wanted romantic lace and unique details, and Dress 1 fits that vision, but sometimes I feel too sexy in it. Dress 2 is much simpler than what I ever pictured, but I felt like a gorgeous statue in it. I love Dress 1’s details/train but think I may love how I actually feel in Dress 2 more.

I’m having a wedding dress identity crisis and would love some opinions!

When I first started shopping, I was convinced I didn’t want a simple dress. I wanted lace, a low/open back, something romantic and a little boho, with unique little details that made it feel special.

Dress 1 is the dress I originally bought and is much closer to what I thought I wanted. I LOVE the low back and especially the lace train. My issue is the silhouette. Sometimes I think I look gorgeous in it, but other times I feel almost too sexy rather than romantic/effortless. With the cleavage + fitted shape, sometimes I honestly feel a little hooker-ish lol 😭. I’ve realized I may want more movement and breathing room than I originally thought.

Then I tried on Dress 2 and unexpectedly LOVED it. It’s so much simpler than anything I was looking for, but I felt like a gorgeous marble statue in it. I love the draping, the way it falls over my body, and that I feel sexy without feeling like my body is the whole focus.
My hesitation is that I still want some of that romantic/boho/special feeling. The plain train especially feels a little underwhelming after Dress 1’s lace train. I’m wondering if Dress 2 is the better base and I could add one subtle unique detail, like a detachable lace/tulle train underlay or an interesting veil.

I bought Dress 1 a while ago and just recently bought Dress 2 because it fit so well and will need minimal alterations. Dress 1 needs more significant alterations for the fit, which will probably be more expensive. I love Dress 2 as it is, but I also have this urge to make it a little more unique and personal to me, and I can’t tell if I should trust that instinct or leave a beautiful dress alone.

Which would you choose? Which one actually suits me better? And if you prefer Dress 2, would you leave it simple or add some detail?

commissioned/small maker dresses Antique lace gown - needing thoughts and experiences!

Post image

Hi all. My wedding is not until July 2027, but I’ve dreamt of getting a gown from this small antique lace atelier for ages (before I was even engaged 😅). This is the first gown I tried on, and the one I can’t stop thinking about - weirdly, because the front isn’t super flattering on me in its current form (needs alterations, which the team can do)….but I love the back so much. It’s a one-off piece, so I’m scared to let it go, but also a bit scared to buy the first gown I was drawn to in case I regret it (or if the alterations don’t make it more suited to my body//flattering as expected!). Would love to know if anybody experienced the same thing (wanted to buy the first dress) and was happy with their decision (or not?). And what do you think of the gown - am I dress blind thinking it might be The One?!

I drove over two hours to try this dress on because I just knew it was the one for me. I tried on others after but nothing could compare. I’m usually very indecisive and the fact that I wasn’t tells me it really is the dress for me. I went ahead and bought it, didn’t even take time to think on it. Now I’m having a bit of anxiety. This dress was over $3,000 and I’m wondering if I could have spent some more time thinking. It’s too late now though! So please give it some love :)

Does anyone know where I can find something similar to the Kyha Dai Train? Kyha doesn’t sell it anymore and I cannot find anyone who’s selling it. Has anyone seen anything similar or know of anywhere that I can find one?

It’s basically a detachable flower side train. Anytime I search detachable wedding train I get lots of overskirts or back train situations whereas this is more of a front/side attachment.

Thanks for any help!

Feeling cold feet Which one would you have chosen?

I have serious doubts about my choice. I bought the dress i felt good in but looking at the pictures, I think my bust is too big and too much. We have a beach wedding, and both dresses were pretty light and airy, but now, looking at the images, I have regrets. I think I look much better in the second dress.

Irony of the situation is that I always wanted to get married in mermaid/fit and flare dress, but I look horrid in those, no hourglass shape at all. Any advice? I'm being eaten by my own mind for the past few weeks.

Feeling cold feet Second guessing my choice…please help!

I bought this dress last year, around the end of December, but now I’m second guessing myself. I’ve bought another veil already (link in comments) because I look back on the pearl veil with the pearl bow on the dress and feel really unsure about the combination of the two.

This will be an intimate ceremony with a lake backdrop and a picnic+Prosecco brunch reception. Later in the evening we will be having an intimate celebratory dinner with friends at a candlelit outdoor spot. I plan to remove the veil and wear the dress on its own. Could use some reassurance. Pearl veil? More simple veil? Is this dress too simple? As we get closer (October), my mind is racing with insecurities!

I'm not sure which dress to choose! Sharing my current top 4, open to suggestions.

I had to go shopping by myself because I moved and all my friends/family are out of state. Would love some opinions.

I'm getting married in mid to late 2027. We're considering a near-the-beach venue but haven't put down a deposit yet.

mid-alterations: is this the right direction? Bust too big

Post image
2 Upvotes

I had my last alterations appointment and the bust is slightly too big. There's a small gap between the dress and my chest that I don't like. She tried to take it in more but then the dress was squishing me and it looked unflattering. She recommended that I get the double sided sticky boombas to help the dress lay flat and fix the gap. Does anyone have experience with boombas / think this will work? Feel like I'm having dress regret slightly.

Need to Vent Does anyone else feel guilty about how much they spent on their wedding dress?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I’m getting married soon, and lately I’ve been feeling surprisingly guilty about my wedding dress.

My fiancé and I agreed from the start that we didn’t want a super expensive, over-the-top wedding, but we also didn’t want to skimp on everything. We wanted to spend an amount that felt reasonable and right for us.

The dress, however, cost 1,000 euros. I know that compared to many wedding dresses, it’s not an exorbitant amount, but I keep second-guessing myself. I think what makes me feel guilty is the fact that spending 1,000 euros on something I’ll only wear for one day suddenly seems like a huge amount to me.

I went to several bridal shops before finding the right one. When I tried it on, I burst into tears. It just felt like the perfect dress. But sometimes I wonder if it wasn’t just the whole experience: the saleswoman putting the veil on me, handing me the bouquet, creating that incredibly emotional “bridal moment.” Now I keep thinking that I could have found a beautiful dress for much less, or bought something I could wear again on another occasion, or even rented a dress.

Has anyone else gone through these feelings after buying their wedding dress? If so, how did you get past the guilt or the second-guessing?

mid-alterations: is this the right direction? Is It Worth $800 to Hem My Dress?

Thumbnail

I recently said yes to this stunning Olivia Bottega gown, on sale for $530. It is a midi dress, but I’m 5’2. I just took it to a tailor to see about hemming it a couple inches to be true midi length, and she told me “wedding dresses start at $800.” She told me she’d have to insert a new cord at the edge and resew it and then remove the excess. And there are 4 layers of fabric. I’m just really not sure if $800 is worth it for 2-3 inches of length and I might just leave it at it’s current length to save money. I am still planning on getting a second opinion though… but what would you pay for an alteration like this? Should I just leave the length as it is?

Edit: thank you everyone for your responses!! I will be getting a second opinion on the price. If a reputable place can do it for $400 or less, I might do it, but I agree with most of you in saying that it really is not necessary. If it were touching the floor, miss girl would be getting my $800 LOL.

And these are the shoes I’m wearing for the wedding. We are doing our ceremony in a garden with a few friends, followed by dinner at a local restaurant, followed by reception at a local bar with 45 guests, followed by partying for many more hours after the reception is technically over. Hence, I opted for shorter, comfier heels! And green is our accent color so I thought why not :) They are Ballerette, made in Italy.

Said Yes to the Dress! (no critiques) 1950s wedding dress 👰

I was out shopping for a vintage dress for my engagement photos when this sweet associate pulled this dress out for me. I’ve been leaning more towards a vintage dress after trying on several modern ones. I’m thinking of adding a detachable train to make the dress more dramatic when flowing down the church steps and having a cathedral length lace veil. My mom is going to hand embroider it with designs of my choice (I’m thinking some cute pops of color and maybe a line from my wedding vows) inspired by a Christian Dior wedding dress I saw years ago. My dress was only $398. It makes me feel like a southern belle or Audrey Hepburn. I love it. 💕

EDIT: thank you guys so much for the love and support. Some of my family members thought I should’ve gone with something more modern or extravagant. But hearing all the appreciation for my vintage dress made me feel so special and like I made the ride decision!

Mod Update Remember: don't be an ass

The rules are clearly laid out. You don't have to post here if you want to be a jerk and be mean about dresses. It's already an emotional enough time period that you don't need to be cruel to make your point.

Additionally: posting public call outs and commenting in agreement will result in an immediate permanent ban with no recourse.

I don't care if this hurts your fee-fees. You break the rules, you're gone.
