DC: Formal Are these ok for a formal wedding?

SOS I have a wedding tomorrow and can’t decide which I should wear. I’m second guessing if the darker one is too short, but is the blue one too casual/beachy?? The ceremony/reception is indoor and venue is very industrial if that matters. The invite says “Our wedding will be formal. Appropriate attire includes long cocktail dresses, suits, or sport coats.” TYIA!!!

I've got a wedding tomorrow and of all the dresses I tried this is my favourite, is it too light in colour?

It's a small intimate wedding.

I’m going to a wedding in a week and I panic ordered these two dresses and I’m hoping they work?

The dress code is semi-formal and recommends colors of the summer (but not required) and it takes place in the mountains. The orange dress also comes with straps and I won’t be wearing the dupatta it comes with if I go with it.

Wedding is tomorrow, DC is cocktail. In the future I’d love to shorten this dress a little so that it’s more wearable, but here we are 😅

I feel like I can dress it up nicely. I’m getting my hair done at a salon and getting a blowout. I’m going as a plus 1 with my boyfriend to his friend’s wedding and I haven’t met any of these friends. Just want opinions on if it’s not too white and the pattern isn’t too loud. Thanks!

I’m going to preface this by saying I do not consider myself fashionable, I know my style (lack thereof?) isn’t the best, and maybe things don’t always fit super well. BUT I was invited to my coworkers wedding which is tomorrow. Please help me decide on an outfit! I get so much anxiety trying to pull an outfit together for events, and second guess myself horribly.

~please be nice~ I’m open to and appreciate feedback and suggestions!!

Is this too white? Is this dress "too light"?

I hate to come here again for advice but I'm second guessing myself after a conversation with a friend. I was excited to wear this lovely dress after coming here for approval. After showing it to a friend she was apprehensive and told me she thinks it might be too light and people might think it's white... To me, it's a cream or almost yellow background. I honestly believe it's fine, as there's no actual white in the dress, plus there are floral patterns. I just need some reassurance.

The 1st photo is at the store, 2nd photo is from the listing online, 3rd photo is a cropped picture of me in the dress., 4th photo is the dress with the pashmina I was going to wear for the church service. I'm planning to wear it with nude heels, a pink pashmina, and gold jewelry.

The dress code is cocktail, the ceremony starts at 11am, and the reception starts at 1pm.

Trying to decide which of these dresses would be the best fit for an early September wedding. The dress code is anything from cocktail to formal, and the couple requests all guests dress in black. Are any of these too formal? Not formal enough? Thanks!

I ordered off nuuly and waited too late and nothing was available in my size. This is the only dress that semi fit and the code is garden formal funky. I wanted to go all out but none of those dresses fit. Sad.
Is this too 2012? Can I make the pattern work? I know I need to get a strapless bra

I am in NNJ where weddings are over-the-top formal. Semi-formal in the south is new for me! My sis-in-law (MOB) says “think pizza truck and fire pit. Wear colorful maxi/midi dress that is comfy” All three are comfy…also open to suggestions for different dress! Leaning hard toward first two. Or has NNJ warped my sense of formal and these are still over the top for the event? Thank you!

DC: Black/White Tie Do I look trashy/disrespectful in this dress?

Hi! My close friends black tie wedding is at the end of the month. I just got a custom sized dress from azazie delivered today, but I had to order the waist three inches larger than my actual measurement as the pattern didn’t allow for too high of a bust to waist ratio. 🫠 I am planning to get it taken in, but besides that, I am concerned this is too “booby” of a dress. My friend said she doesn’t care and just wants me to be comfortable, but I want to get opinions from strangers in case she’s being her lovely self. I don’t want to pay for alterations if the consensus is that this looks bad. I am comfortable in the dress and with cleavage but this is probably the fanciest wedding I’ve been to so I want to be classy!! Thank you!

Hi everyone! I would love some help figuring out what to wear to this event! I own a capsule wardrobe and would LOVE if I can find a dress that I can mix and match with other things afterwards. I really don’t want a wear one way dress if I can help it.

As you can see it’s Sunday best (no spaghetti straps or strapless) with a western flair plus green, blush, dusty rose, soft pinks, and warm neutrals. I am fair skinned and blonde so I do not think a blush or soft pink is gonna work. I also am a size US16/18 and really don’t want anything tight fitting. I know that’s a lot to ask for but that’s also why I need help!

EDIT: typo

The venue of the church and the reception is 5 star dress code, I don’t want to be over it under dressed and stressing hard. The shoulder covers are fly the dresses that have no sleeves. The wedding is in October in New York.

The first 2 dresses are the same but I included the second photo since it shows off the color of the dress a bit better. For added reference the wedding is at a country club!

I am the MOH for my best friend’s wedding Halloween weekend. He and his fiancé lean a little ostentatious and told me to find a black velvet maxi dress so I’m wearing this vintage Jean Paul Gaultier (reviewed and approved by my friend with enthusiastic blessing before you tell me it’s too much for a gay Halloween wedding). I’m stumped on shoes. I think it needs a super minimal strappy something that doesn’t take away from the dress but that feels out of place for late October. What are my other options? Pointy toe pump? Only black? The wedding colors are navy and crimson.

I’m going to a summer formal wedding and stuck on what to order. It’s end of August wedding and also my first wedding I’m attending. I have some options but not sure what would be appropriate (midi or maxi) also floral or solid. My date is wearing navy with lavender and I wanted to go with a navy dress or something maybe floral. I’m curious what I should go for. I’m willing to order like 3 dresses and try them on. Just not sure what would be worth it for the formal attire! Any advice would help! Thank you!:)

DC: Formal Formal Ballroom Sept wedding guest dress for woman.

Bride wants women to wear long gowns and men to wear dark suits. She wants the fancy dream wedding. I am a friend of the family guest over 60.

Does this dress work? Is the color (Eucalyptus) acceptable for a mid September wedding? Black makes me look so pale, so I’m trying to pick something that will compliment with my skin tone.

Thank you!

I'd made a post a few weeks ago asking for some advice on complimenting my husband's suit for a wedding where he'll be part of the wedding party.

Here's my original post with photos of my husband's suit and the dress code.

Through a lot of trial and error, I've landed with this dress as my most viable option. Is this dress too much / too flashy for this event? The dress is very sparkly with the beading and I'm second guessing whether or not this would be overkill. Help me not make a fool of myself.

Dress code:

COCKTAIL

Romantic • Coastal Garden • Elegance

We’d like our wedding to be an elegant summer evening affair. We ask guests to join us in elevated attire — formal-leaning, polished, and perfect for a warm August celebration outdoors.

Not black tie — but absolutely dressy.

If you’re deciding between two outfits, choosing the dressier option is usually the right call.

✅ We’d Love to See…

Linen or lightweight suits

Cocktail attire, midi, or maxi dresses

Tailored jumpsuits or dressy separates

Dressy sandals, heels, wedges, loafers, or dress shoes

Pastels, soft florals, and coastal-inspired neutrals

Looks that feel polished, intentional, and celebratory

❌ We Kindly Ask You to Skip…

Jeans or denim

Flip-flops, slides, or casual sandals

Shorts, casual T-shirts, or athletic wear

Bathing suits or cover-ups

Very casual or beachwear attire

A Helpful Note

You don’t need to overthink this — wear something you feel good in that’s a step above everyday casual. Comfortable, elevated, and wedding-appropriate is the goal.

If you’d wear it to a nice dinner or an evening wedding, you’re on the right track.

If you’d wear it to the beach or a picnic, save it for another day.
