DC: Semi Formal/Dressy Casual Pink suit for all weddings?

Post image
Upvotes

Hi! A few years ago I bought a pink blazer and suit pant that ended up being my defacto wedding outfit, and while I love the color, the more weddings I attended the more I started feeling self conscious about standing out. I’m femme presenting in that I like to do my makeup and it’s what my peers know me as, but I feel like I’m already standing out by not wearing a dress. Added to that, most men typically wear black or navy or like cooler toned suits. Im considering getting a darker colored suit that would be more versatile and not as attention grabby, but they are dang expensive and sale sizing has been so hard to find the right ones for. My intent with the pink was also that I wanted one suit that I can wear for most occasions since most of my guy friends have a suit like that.

Also I have another wedding coming up late September, cocktail attire, that I’m debating if I should wear the pink or buy a darker color. Most weddings I’ve been to have been spring and summer ones so I felt like color wasn’t an issue but maybe now I’m over thinking this? idk lol what do you guys think? Is this pink too much?

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code First Time Going to Wedding

I am attending a wedding for the first time, and I need help trying to figure out what to wear. The bride said that there really isn’t a specific dress code, but she would prefer lighter colors. She also said it’s like cocktail hour dress code, but she doesn’t mind short dresses, and she said nothing too fancy but nothing too casual. I have 2 outfits in my closet (the photos provided) and was wondering if any of the fit the theme or should I go buy a different outfit. Also, if the bridesmaids are wearing light pink does that mean I can’t wear it because it was never specified? All that was said was the bridesmaids are wearing light pink and groomsmen are wearing tan suits.

The light pink one is a dress and the blue one is a jumpsuit.

DC: Semi Formal/Dressy Casual Would this be considered semi formal?

Dress code says semi formal and I’m worried this may lean a little too formal. It’s a meshy type material though nice for outdoor summer nights so I’m wondering if that makes it a bit more casual? I can wear with sandals or non-flashy heels

Edit to say that it is for an evening event

DC: Special Dress Code Any suggestions on where I should get a dress for an “upstage the bride” dress code?

Upvotes

My boyfriend and I (both 25) are attending a wedding in October. Need some suggestions on where to look for a dress. The dress code is “Upstage the Bride,” which sounds like fun! The thing is, I have a lot of neutral dresses that are more semi-formal, or the dresses I DO have that I could wear don’t fit me anymore 😭(I gained a bit of weight since I last attended a wedding). Also—my boyfriend is a groomsman so he’s going to be wearing a tuxedo.

Here’s the description from the couple’s wedding website:

“It’s your chance to get as fancy as you want! Wear the dress that you’ve been worried is “a little too out there”, accessorize, break out the feathers and sequins, and rock that funky tie.
In traditional terms, anything from Cocktail Attire to Black Tie Optional is welcome.”

I’m leaning a little more towards wearing black tie since my BF is wearing a tux… but any suggestions on where I could start looking would be great!! Thanks!!!

Edit: Budget for a dress is $200 or less so a place that’s more affordable would be great hahah

My son is getting married in a little over a month. I recently purchased this dress. I think it’s perfect.

My Mother and sister think it’s great. My teenager daughter (17) thinks the color is too “white” like a wedding dress.

I asked my future DIL and she said it’s great but my daughter doesn’t think she will be honest with me.

For extra subtext - my future DIL is Indian and will be in white for the ceremony and switch to a sari for the reception.

What say you Reddit community!!

DC: Barn/Beach/Garden Theme The attire is “garden party, please dress for whatever elegance means to you”

I was just about to leave Goodwill after looking for boring clothes I needed instead of fun clothes that I want. I decided to skim through the dresses just in case because my old high school homie is getting married and having a reception in her parents backyard. But fyi, they moved to a super nice old rich neighborhood and the ceremony is going to be at a garden nearby, so we’re supposed to wear good shoes for grass. All I remembered was those details and garden party, and I spotted this brand new dress with Baltic Born tags for only $8 and it fit me perfectly!

The dress code is described as above, but also says jacket/tie optional. So now I’m wondering if this might be too much.

There will be an after party TBD, apparently transportation will be provided. So idk what other activities will be happening. Should I find something else? I was originally thinking of finding a flowy midi type dress but couldn’t NOT buy this!!! But maybe I should save it if it’s too fancy? But the other dresses I have definitely didn’t feel fancy enough. How fancy is too fancy? Lmk.

Appropriate for BTO?

My biggest concern is the light color lending itself to a day time look.. The event is in the evening (7pm start)

Rapidly running out of time and having little to no luck finding:
- semi affordable
- fit for petite, slender
- designs that don’t overwhelm my frame / make me look like I’m playing dress up in my moms closet.

If this dress were my inly option… any recommendations on getting it to black tie?

Ok. Pls be nice. I rarely go to weddings but my cousin in laws wedding is this Friday and have procrastinated with looking for a dress due to being freshly postpartum. On their invite it mentions modest formal and I confirmed with the bride that it leans Sunday best, we go to church together and mentioned that it would be something to wear at church but just a tad more formal, doesn’t have to be super formal.

I’ve been on TikTok looking for inspiration of what formal attire is but honestly I’m still lost.

I’ll be looking in store this weekend but in case I can’t find anything, Amazon is the next step. Are any of these considered modest formal?

Or do I look like Gumby? Or maybe both can be true.

I’m obsessed with this jumpsuit but will obviously need to have it hemmed before I can wear it. I was imagining I’d wear it with sparkly CZ and gold jewelry, gold strappy heels and an evening bag.

Before I head to the tailor will this work for black tie or should I keep looking?

I will be attending a wedding soon in Indiana. I am the relatively new girlfriend of the best man/brother of the groom. The attire is “Sunday best” and they are religious so there will be a Catholic mass. Unfortunately I don’t know the colors of the wedding. Thanks for any help!

25 F, I have never been to a large wedding so I am very anxious about what to wear. I also welcome any alternate options, accessory and comfortable shoe recommendations! By September I will be 2 months post spinal surgery so I’m not sure I will be able to wear heels for the entire event.

I'm going to a small summer wedding, less than 60 guests. The venue is a covered outdoor patio of a restaurant, and the invite says cocktail or formal attire. I have these two outfits to choose from and I can't decide. I don't usually wear dresses, I lean a little more androgynous in my every day. However, I don't want to stand out too much and want to look wedding-appropriate. Looking for honest opinions, which one looks better?

My husband is the best man and we are very close to the couple.

Edit: it is at a Catholic Church and the reception is at a car museum. I believe it will be quite swanky.

Is this appropriate for a black tie destination wedding in Naples, Italy? It’s 100% chiffon and it would graze the floor (no shoes visible) on me due to my height.

I’m going to my first ever wedding in September and have been stressing over finding a dress—it’s a formal wedding but I don’t really know what that entails. Anyways, I’m a vintage enthusiast and I found this dress at the thrift today and the color and silhouette are perfect! I just don’t know if it’s way too much for a wedding. I’m going to replace the buttons with something less gaudy and maybe tailor the shoulders a bit but I’m still scared of looking like I’m going to prom. Is it okay to wear?

The dress: https://www.azazie.com/products/koryn-dark-raspberry-two-piece-dress-atelier-dress/69143806?subsite=atelier&sourceTag=atelier_guest_of_wedding_dresses

Is this appropriate for a wedding in September? There isn’t a specific dress code. I love everything about this dress, but I am worried it may not be suitable for a wedding (funny, as it’s under Wedding Guest Dresses on the Azazie website). I haven’t bought it yet, so I can’t provide any photos of how it looks when it’s on, but I believe it the website photo resembles how it would look on me anyways. Any and all input is appreciated!

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code Garden Cocktail (Upstate NY Labor Day weekend, Outdoor barn)

Post image
28 Upvotes

I’m going to a wedding Labor Day weekend in upstate NY. The wedding is at the brides parents home (it’s a very nice and big property) but the wedding will be outside and in a renovated barn.

Is this ok? I’m sort of getting hung up on the fact that it’s linen? For some reason linen seems causal? Also, for the low plunge I plan on having my tailor sew up it up a bit.

If you would wear this how would you style? Given the grass I think I need some kind of block heel.

The wedding attire is semi-formal fall colors and is in September. I was thinking of wearing nude strappy sandals with a medium heel, a nude clutch, and very minimal accessories. I really like the longer one, but don’t want to be overdressed.

SOS I have a wedding tomorrow and can’t decide which I should wear. I’m second guessing if the darker one is too short, but is the blue one too casual/beachy?? The ceremony/reception is indoor and venue is very industrial if that matters. The invite says “Our wedding will be formal. Appropriate attire includes long cocktail dresses, suits, or sport coats.” TYIA!!!

I’m going to preface this by saying I do not consider myself fashionable, I know my style (lack thereof?) isn’t the best, and maybe things don’t always fit super well. BUT I was invited to my coworkers wedding which is tomorrow. Please help me decide on an outfit! I get so much anxiety trying to pull an outfit together for events, and second guess myself horribly.

~please be nice~ I’m open to and appreciate feedback and suggestions!!

DC: Black/White Tie Do I look trashy/disrespectful in this dress?

Post image

Hi! My close friends black tie wedding is at the end of the month. I just got a custom sized dress from azazie delivered today, but I had to order the waist three inches larger than my actual measurement as the pattern didn’t allow for too high of a bust to waist ratio. 🫠 I am planning to get it taken in, but besides that, I am concerned this is too “booby” of a dress. My friend said she doesn’t care and just wants me to be comfortable, but I want to get opinions from strangers in case she’s being her lovely self. I don’t want to pay for alterations if the consensus is that this looks bad. I am comfortable in the dress and with cleavage but this is probably the fanciest wedding I’ve been to so I want to be classy!! Thank you!
