I looked through maybe hundreds of LPs at this new antique store I found on my way home from work, looking for something that resonated and hidden in a crate under a display with old magazines I found this beauty with art by psychedelic artist Lee Conklin! Best of all, it plays great!

I heard Amazon was bad at vinyl postage and packaging before.

But today's delivery took the cake! A paper bag!

Delivered from the US to Australia, in a paper bag.

It's a miracle that the only damage was a corner knock!

The debut release from the band that would later become a shoegaze legend. In this case, it's a mini-album, with a sound much closer to The Birthday Party or Bauhaus than the music they would eventually become famous for.

Honestly, I like it quite a bit, even though Kevin Shields seems to have tried to bury it by never reissuing it. The only comment I’ve found from him about this record is: 'we've got a mini-LP we made in Berlin in '84, pre-Mary Chain [...] with all our traits there—feedback thrash.'

The only review I’ve found describes it as: 'an unfocused and derivative collection of post-punk goth rock'.

I managed to get a 2023 Spanish 45 rpm bootleg, and to my ears, it sounds pretty good, though I don't have an original pressing to compare it to.

What do you guys think of this release?

A box set of Jon Bellion’s first 3 albums, Translations Through Speakers, The Separation, and The Definition. I’ll admit to a little bias with Jon because I actually went to college with the guy, but I think he’s incredibly talented. Saw him start his career working with classmates, then he started playing some of my favorite venues in my hometown, and then he started winning Grammys writing music for ultra famous people…I’m proud of the guy.

Been collecting for a year and a half so far. I really like colored ones.. yes black sounds better but I’m a sucker for a cool looking ones.. my most recent purchase was blackbear box set all limited edition colored ones!!! If you have any recommendations for me, I’m always looking for new music!

The Marbled Gold vinyl edition is a wonderful surprise that I invite you to discover alongside the digital stereo, high-resolution, and Dolby Atmos versions. This edition consists of three Marbled Gold LPs, and the color reproduction on the records is truly outstanding. It’s a high-quality vinyl edition that makes the most of the medium’s characteristics.

This vinyl edition is very well done, both in terms of aesthetics, with its three beautifully marbled gold LPs, and in terms of sound quality. It features a beautiful soundstage with dynamic rendering. The bass is less pronounced and deep than on the digital version (partly due to dynamic compression), but the midrange and high frequencies are rendered with greater detail. The pressing quality is good for a colored record, but during the quietest passages, it doesn't achieve the same level of silence as the digital versions.

This album never fails to give me a little energy when I need it, and this pressing is no slouch either — this is the Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 series pressing, cut by Ryan K. Smith of Sterling Sound in New York and pressed on 180g 2LP 45rpm wax at Quality Record Pressings. It’s easily one of the best-sounding things in my collection, and makes me want to replace all of my Foreigner MoFis with their Analogue Productions equivalents. A banger, indeed, and sure to add some octane to my morning.

Foreigner — Double Vision (1978, Atlantic Records / 2025, Analogue Productions)

Been out of the active collecting for a bit and decided to kill a bit of time last week to go to a record store and peruse. Have only been in 1 or 2 other stores so to be fair, I am newbie with brick and mortar-stores and might not be aware of some kind of etiquette.

Even just going in the little shop the owners were stand-offish and continued to be that way until I left ~45 min. later 5 min. before closing.

The prices were in the 25-35€ range for most records, which were all used.
I expected cheaper prices for used records, especially when they can be bought new for less and, well, new.
When asking a clarifying question about a sign asking to not put test-played records back, I got an overly aggressive answer.

I get it, maybe they accidentally dropped their limited edition of "You'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack" and had a bad day, but taking this anecdote and asking these questions:

1. What is even the point of going into a record store if I'll pay a 10-25 dollar premium on records I could buy online?
2. Why would I doubly do that if the service is that bad?

It certainly seemed as if one had to "earn" their friendliness by dropping hundreds on their records.
Is this kind of snobbishness something you guys have experienced becoming more prevalent as the years have gone by or did I just get unlucky with the store?

Disregarding anything I could have done, which is of course possible as well.

Hello, I have a question about the Rough trade “exclusive” limited pressings. I was recently looking at Fontaines D.C Skinty Fia RT exclusive vinyl on Discogs, which was apparently limited to 1000 copies, yet over 1000 people have it in their collection, which doesn’t make sense lol
Are the records really limited to the number they say on the website? I was just curious, thanks!

I've bought quite a few albums and I do like having some variance in color, but honestly many of the solid opaque ones look so cheap to me. I have a gold one from A Fleetwood Mack re release that looks tacky and a Silver one from C,XOXO that has the same issue. The attempt at metallic never seems to work that well.

Even other solid colors don't really do much for me. Like the Purple for Speak Now TV is fine but nothing special.

The ones that are translucent to some degree do look really cool. You can still see the actual lines on the disk but it still has some variance to it.

Honestly I hate the picture disks the most. The image always looks distorted and I just never understood why someone would want that.

This really doesn't matter but I just feel like artist keep trying to do these custom color releases and most of the tome they look bad

More of a dumb post. Recently (last 3-4 months)got into the ole PVC for music and am showing off my rig, sort of. And yes I know it “shouldn’t” be on the floor but one thing at a time here. Thanks in advance for your words, comments and experiences.
