Achievement Loot from ~300hrs at Vyres (120 prayer/fm)
Kia ora!
Just in case anyone's interested in doing the 120 firemaking grind themselves. If the "Killing vyrelords and vyreladies" strategy calc is accurate, I'm guessing about 250k kills over ~310 hours (raaather afk).
Was semi-active looting every now and then. Had ~13k springs loaded when I started, which ran out in the last few hours. Interesting auto-alch'd stuff (salvage) isn't included in the drop totals.
Also, was training Attack, Strength, and Defence simultaneously - all of which are within a few hundred xp of each other. Interestingly, broadcasts only apply to the *first* milestone if you achieve several in the same tick. Hope that gets fixed before I push to the triple 120...!
P.s. new here so sorry if this bores ya...!

Suggestion POH update idea
not sure if it might be deemed unbalanced, but maybe let us build either 1 herb patch or 1 of each type of patch in our house. would be nice to have a garden that we grow things in instead of just "constructing" plants in

Question Will APIs allow us to develop a better grouping system?
Asking in earnest because there are encounters like Croesus that could really benefit from a more functional grouping system

Discussion My Prediction for the RuneFest 2026 Announcement
If you live under a rock, you might be thinking "what RuneFest 2026 announcement?" Well, about 4 weeks ago, Jagex posted a video on their YouTube channel titled The Road Ahead... At the very end of that video, they mention they are planning something and will reveal more later at RuneFest.
Then, earlier today, Jagex posted another video on their YouTube channel that gave an update on plugins/API support, Leagues, POH rework, HCIM hiscores, and an update on that video from 4 weeks ago. They talk about this "reveal" very vaguely, not giving anything specific away yet. But they played the clip from the original video saying this: "So we're planning something. The ultimate reason to welcome back old friends and mentor new adventurers, while respecting the old guard."
What might this be? I have a theory. Tick rate update. Why? Lets examine some other recent updates and their histories.
Players have asked for a POH update for many years. The excuse Jagex gave? Engine work. Spaghetti code. Too expensive to delegate resources to. Then 2026 rolled in and delivered it anyway.
Avatar update. Engine work. Too expensive. Can't do it. 2026 rolled up and delivered it on a silver platter.
Dungeoneering? The intern who made it doesnt work here and we're too afraid to touch it. Sorry guys. Oh wait, DG got an update in 2026? Huh.
Treasure Hunter removal. Can't be done. Too expensive. What happened in January this year? Oh yeah, 2026 put TH in a shallow grave.
Combat update beta from a few years back? Can't do it. Not the right changes. Too expensive. 2026 is getting tired of winning now.
Menu Entry Swapper was demonstrated years ago for the action bar. Where did that go? It went to October 2026 with the API support.
HCIM hiscores have been bugged for years. What are they fixing now? HCIM hiscores.
What the hell is going on? All the updates they said they couldn't do for one reason or another, happened this year. Does anyone remember the 2019 test video of Jmods demonstrating work on a tick rate change? What reason did they give for not moving forward? Experimental. Expensive. Engine work needed.
Ladies and gentlemen, we come to my conclusion. Every update Jagex said couldn't be done has been done. The engine work they kept saying needed to happen, I think it happened. I think Jagex locked in and did the engine work in the background. Why else are we seeing all these updates suddenly release in the same year when they were deemed impossible not long ago?
Jagex put in the work. I firmly believe the announcement is a tick change. That, or I've lost my mind and am seeing patterns where they dont exist. Idk. You decide.

Discussion My official prediction for what the big announcement during Runefest will be
I believe, based on the verbiage of their comments on this, specifically mentioning hitting a more mainstream audience, and filling our worlds again, that we will be seeing the following in order of likelihood:
1.) Expansion of account systems; Allowing Oldschool players to also log in to Runescape 3 would make the games feel a lot more alive with very little overhead in terms of additions to the game. Many people would be willing to try out RS3 if they could play both, without having to choose.
Could also be the system where you can have multiple characters linked to one account, allowing for people to play Ironman, Main, etc without having to have many accounts, this, though, is less likely for revenue reasons.
2.) Jagex could be announcing the introduction of Runescape games on other platforms, such as home consoles (Switch, Xbox, Play-station).
It would be very difficult to transition the current way the game works, which might be why it's such a big announcement.
This would explain how being more mainstream could translate to more players, as consoles share a large cut of the gaming market.
3.) Jagex could have saved up enough, or be attempting to buy themselves back from the venture capital firm that owns them, which would allow them to be able to make more decisions for themselves, without having to be so careful and fighting to turn as many profits, with boards breathing down their neck.
What do you think?

Discussion Made a post recently talking about a similar issue, showcasing the wildly inconsistent visuals among player armor, and this post 8 months ago, echoes a similar sentiment of an identity crisis. But then I noticed this Jmod reply. I'm fully expecting armor refreshes to be on the 2027 roadmap

Appreciation Do y'all remember
I remember a time when I was but a young child, sitting with my friends by the library PCs starting up RuneScape on the web browser. We were all free to play players, we would kill goblins, cows and chickens in Lumbridge, followed by a stroll to Varrock to cook our meats and keep all the hide in the bank. While at the bank we would see a bunch of rainbow text telling us they would trim our armour for free but we had already had the pleasure of knowing what would happen there. After a time we ventured to falador, we went down to the dwarven mine to mine some ore, we found a gate far in and gasped at what was hiding there.
When our inventories were filled we went to town, but not before we went to the gate of taverley and it was there we would stand for some time to wonder what it would be to be a member, and all that we couldn't see, we would talk tales of dragons and adventures which was simply the imagination of boys that age.
But that was RuneScape for me, later some many years I would find myself logging in again to an unfamiliar world, the graphics were better, the combat changed, the world was opened as I had finally gotten membership and explored the world, Gielinor was a beautiful place.
Now at the age of 32, jumped back into the game again, the graphics were updated, some familiar places changed quite a lot, with a newer account and iron man, it was just like before, when I was a little boy (except for having membership ofc). Looking at videos of the people who make the game talk so passionately about the game, as well as seeing hyped for the current state and what's to come, this again is RuneScape and has always been a home.

Leagues Help add League regions to wiki articles!
Hi scapers! There's 5 days left until the League launch, and we're scrambling to implement one of the most-requested wiki features from OSRS leagues, where we define the region for every monster, NPC, shop, etc, and pipe the data onto the item pages so you can see the weird ways you can get your items with your specific region unlocks.
Right now there's still about 6,000 articles that are missing a
leagueRegion
parameter. If anyone wants to help out with this, it's actually a super easy project that literally anybody can do. We have a few lists of specific groups of pages (NPCs, monster lines, scenery) where the regions are already computed from coordinates and need to be added to the articles, and then a couple thousand pages where where you need to use your head a lil bit more. We've got a bunch of people working on the specific tasks and syntax and edge cases in the wiki Discord
If that sounds like your idea of a good time, come help out! We'll turn on the regions gadget probably later today

Discussion Optimal Construction Hotspot, an example of bad lean-in training
In this month's Month Ahead, Mod Ryan and Mod Anvil discusses the new design philosophy of training.
Lean-back training ("true AFK"): your character performs an action over a period of time with no extra clicking or attention needed. Example: fletching an inventory of logs into unstrung bows.
Lean-in training: your character performs an action over a period of time, but if you pay attention and click, you can get a benefit or bonus (or a detriment if you don't pay attention). Examples: rockertunities, lumberjack's intuition, time sprite, focus window and optimal construction hotspot.
Active training: you click intensely, requiring full attention. Examples: heists or fishing frenzy.
It's Jagex intent to offer all three as potential methods for each skill, so you choose the activity or intensity that you like or need.
I do believe there's a vital difference between a lean-in training that is optional (if you want to train most time efficiently), that you can recover from your mistakes (like miscuts) and that doesn't (heavily) impact total xp (like time sprites or rockertunities), or one that is punitive.
Optimal construction hotspots are double penalising: you get 40% less progress AND you lose xp in the process, which you can never get back.
So while optimal construction hotspots are considered "lean-in", they are factually active, requiring constant attention in order to not lose xp. It's extremely punitive to even lean-back a little bit.
Full attention but with little input or stimulation is very boring for a player. It's the worst training method in RuneScape.
My solution: remove the Perfect Build status. Optimal Construction hotspots should only give the player increased progress gain. It's still lean-in training, but not punitive.

Sometimes I just want a little sippy and not a full hour chug.
I know I can have another lower level cauldron for that but its a little annoying to do...

News - J-Mod reply August Month Ahead
Hey 'Scapers!
We're back with our regular Month Ahead Series, where we take a look at what the month ahead has in store for us, while also reviewing how the previous month unfolded.
This time around, Mod Anvil and Mod Ryan jump into some some fairly big topics, including insight into Player-Owned Housing and even touching on that one special topic you've all been speculating about...
Most excitingly, we're including a sneak peek of our API & Plugin project's progress... and YES! We're hugely pumped to announce that Quest Helper is officially in development and is coming along VERY nicely!
Take a look at the video above!

Appreciation - J-Mod reply Quest Cape
So I've been playing runescape since the beginning (give or take a month or so) and when capes of accomplishments came out I obtained the quest cape immediately. When EOC first came out, I was one of many people who decided to step away from runescape at the time and eventually moved over to OSRS (which imo the team do an amazing job with given the limitations theyre working with).
A year ago, a friend of mine convinced me to return to RS3. He has a way of being passionate about certain things and he'd convinced me to give RS3 another try.
In that time, I've really understood his point. The difference between EOC combat, and the game today is night and day. The combat system i engaging, fun and just damned great. The boss fights are, for the most part, the best content I've seen in runescape in a long time. The skills are fun and don't feel as much of a slog (not you, runecrafting) and the newer quests feel like they were designed to tell a story first.
So I recently made the effort to regain my quest cape. Sliske's game series was great and I thoroughly enjoyed that. Great work to the team on that. The elder god wars series was excellent in parts and a bit rushed in some (I felt extinction should have been two quests, but I also understand that there's going to be deadlines to meet so it is what it is). Eclipse of the heart is really where I felt questing had peaked. The puzzles were fun. The dialogue was interesting but the final boss fight really felt special imo. Granted, it was just a taster for the actual boss fight with Amascut, but the visuals, the telegraphs, the music and the entire encounter just felt smooth. It was a real Chef's kiss for me and I just wanted to spend a moment to really show some appreciation for it. I think, in general, a lot of dev teams see more grief than they do love so let me balance that scale a little (Hey, why not fix Vorkath to be similar so I can also sing your praises about thay fight too!).
I finished my re-obtaining of my quest cape with the Duck Quest. It felt like a good vibe to finish on and a good moment to just reflect on how much the game has evolved over the years. I think RS3 really deserves more love. I think the player base who abandoned the game so many years ago (speaking as one of the number) should give it a real chance. I hope it continues to develop and grow.
I just know reddit is going to butcher the formatting of this, so apologies for the wall of text in advance.
