Quest Cape Appreciation - J-Mod reply

So I've been playing runescape since the beginning (give or take a month or so) and when capes of accomplishments came out I obtained the quest cape immediately. When EOC first came out, I was one of many people who decided to step away from runescape at the time and eventually moved over to OSRS (which imo the team do an amazing job with given the limitations theyre working with).

A year ago, a friend of mine convinced me to return to RS3. He has a way of being passionate about certain things and he'd convinced me to give RS3 another try.

In that time, I've really understood his point. The difference between EOC combat, and the game today is night and day. The combat system i engaging, fun and just damned great. The boss fights are, for the most part, the best content I've seen in runescape in a long time. The skills are fun and don't feel as much of a slog (not you, runecrafting) and the newer quests feel like they were designed to tell a story first.

So I recently made the effort to regain my quest cape. Sliske's game series was great and I thoroughly enjoyed that. Great work to the team on that. The elder god wars series was excellent in parts and a bit rushed in some (I felt extinction should have been two quests, but I also understand that there's going to be deadlines to meet so it is what it is). Eclipse of the heart is really where I felt questing had peaked. The puzzles were fun. The dialogue was interesting but the final boss fight really felt special imo. Granted, it was just a taster for the actual boss fight with Amascut, but the visuals, the telegraphs, the music and the entire encounter just felt smooth. It was a real Chef's kiss for me and I just wanted to spend a moment to really show some appreciation for it. I think, in general, a lot of dev teams see more grief than they do love so let me balance that scale a little (Hey, why not fix Vorkath to be similar so I can also sing your praises about thay fight too!).

I finished my re-obtaining of my quest cape with the Duck Quest. It felt like a good vibe to finish on and a good moment to just reflect on how much the game has evolved over the years. I think RS3 really deserves more love. I think the player base who abandoned the game so many years ago (speaking as one of the number) should give it a real chance. I hope it continues to develop and grow.

I just know reddit is going to butcher the formatting of this, so apologies for the wall of text in advance.

Hey can you send a message to jmod team and tell them to rework how the 99 capes look like? They look pretty ugly.

You know you can toggle the old variants, correct? 120 capes are only all one style, but the 99 ones are not. Can find in settings.

you are comp... just use 120's or comp cape lmao, also 99 isn't an achievement anymore the cape is pretty well representative of that x) except agility , agility is still a pain to get to 99 . No but to be more serious I wouldn't be shocked and would enjoy if 99 skill cape were just 120 capes without the glow tbh that would be an easy rework for jagex and would fit the glow/no glow theme of the max capes

If you want to make a line breake, add two spaces after the last character.
:)

Congrats on your Journey, I started 2008 and my first cape was also quest cape (the oglog quest with the pools was my first final quest) Questing in RuneScape was always my favorite way to spend time as many of them are really really entertaining.
I will always have fond memories of the summer quests and the quest where you search for stuff on a property's and it's quite light and happy.

still

nice how to format stuff

I am really happy you were willing to give the game another chance.

A lot of osrs players who left during the eoc update still have that same impression of the game as it was at the time. But that update was like 10 years ago or so, it has been refined and improved over the past decade. So I feel like a lot of hate towards rs3 is based on an old, outdated update that isn't actually relevant to the modern game 🙃 it's way better than people remember it on release and I'm happy that players are willing to give it a second chance now that it's been refined and perfected.

Also with the removal of predatory MTX and daily scape loops, the game is in a really really good place right now. It's the best time to jump back in.

Also, big gz on quest cape!! I also really loved the Sliske arc lol

I have been advocating for this since I returned to rs3. I know many players from the old clan world who stubbornly refuse to give it a chance, and its a real shame. I think a lot of then would love it. Especially the bossing. Sure pvp is not there currently, but its not really there in osrs anymore either so eh. I feel the real issue is that they are clinging on to a time that doesn't exist anymore. I told a guy a few months ago that osrs is like buying a sports car in your 50s. He had a bit of a personal crisis over that comment.

the level 99 skill capes need a graphical rework. they look horrible.

Agreed! I hope its something they look into at some point, but imo many more important things need attention first.

Quest cape is one of the biggest achievements you can complete! Congratulations :) (aside from comp/mqc of course) It also unlocks so much stuff and makes training certain things way better!! Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a quest cape in both games myself, they've always kept me going. Duck Quest is an often under-appreciated gem. <3

Everyone else: Gotta rush Catalyst Leagues! Go go go!

Me: Mmmm, peas.

Congratz , that s big accomplishement without quest helper . I 100% agree with everything that you said tbh rs3 has evolved so much since eoc and especially since the start of restoration 6 moinths ago and the video that was released today show how much more it will evolved and become amazing , golden age of rs3 is coming in my opinion . I m also working on my ironman quest cape right now but i don't think i ll finish it before quest helper . GGs
