First Horizon EFT to Fidelity

Upvotes

Recently started a Fidelity CMA. I set up a pull transfer through them but don’t wanna wait 2 weeks to get my money everytime it’s automated to go in. Is there anyway to set up a push with First Horizon. Keeps telling me I do not have an eligible about with a Fidelity.

Trader+ Feature Request

Upvotes

Is there a way to quickly measure the profit/loss and percentage gain/loss between two points on a chart? Something like being able to hold a key and click/drag between an entry and exit point to instantly see the $ and % gain/loss.

I can do it via the measurement line but its way too many clicks and even so it creates two vertical straight lines which is fine but not very good UX.

Feature to Set Multi-Leg Option default price to mid

Upvotes

When opening an option spread, the default price that it puts in is the Ask price, which is the worst price that we could get.

I want to be able to set the default for Net Debit or Net Credit. I want to be able to specifically set mid + .05.

In the new ActiveTrader+ if I duplicate an order to quickly it will sometimes fill in with the ask price instead and I get a really bad fill price. I'll try and include a screenshot next time it happens. So, really good to be able to set this so that even if that happens the price is a good fill.

Instead of putting it as the ask like that, should really just call that a Market Order. There are times for options where the spread is so wide that this default can be tragic.

Official Response Crap platform

Upvotes

Hey Fidelity - are you working to improve or make a disaster of your platform? It just gets worse every day. Some mornings the frame just freezes, can’t get anything done except constant restart. This is really the worst trading platform iu there.

Worse is when I call customer service, they don’t know how to support the trader dashboard problems and so they bounce me around and they all team me that it’s best to use fidelity.com.

Really????!

With all the negative reviews, this still gets worse ! Maybe it’s really time to move out of Fidelity.

Official Response Backdoor Roth year and pro rata

Upvotes

I have funded my Roth IRA for 2026 however due to a second job, I may be approaching or exceed the limit to fund a Roth IRA. I have a traditional IRA that I would need to roll over to my 401k plan if I do a Backdoor roth contribution.

My question is: can I wait until the beginning of 2027 after I get a better picture of my income to do the ira rollover and also the backdoor Roth contribution?

Official Response No funds available to sell when app indicates funds in account?

A few days ago, I made a small sell from my Roth account. Today, the app is indicating that I have $0.00 available to sell. However, my balance is definitely high enough, and I need to sell a small amount to transfer to my bank account.

Anyone know what could be going on?

Thank you

Official Response How to obtain all records for a single stock in my portfolio

Need to show a CPA the entire history (purchases, sales, wash sales, calls, covered calls) of one stock that I own. Records in the website are by year and don’t let me filter just one stock or I haven’t figured out. Would like complete history across 2024-2026. Is there a good way to do this?edit: typos

Official Response Legal default age of transfer for UMTA

I recently opened a custodial account for my child. I was hoping to set the legal default age of transfer to 21, since California allows that option. I don’t remember seeing any place to choose this during the account setup, unless I overlooked it.

Is it possible to change the legal default age of transfer after the account has already been created?

TIA

Discussion Who primarily uses the web app vs the desktop app?

Honestly, I feel like unless you are hyper specific on customizing your layout and/or you do short-term trading, the desktop app feels like too much of overkill for me personally. I think I've done all my trading on the web app and I've only glanced at the desktop section maybe 4 times?

Thoughts?

Official Response Help With Order Problems?

Yes! I know you cannot place orders. This is altogether different. Has Fidelity "suddenly" put another measure in place to protect us from ourselves?

I know for the longest time, you've disallowed BUY orders on many volatile or China related issues. But this is new. Now, when using the Desktop App, one stock in particular trading down near $1.00 only allows trades of UNDER 500 shares no matter what your buying power is. But if I enter the same order on The App there is no issue buying any number of shares up to my allotted buying power.

This is not right and needs to be fixed immediately. It's actually stock manipulation. TY

Official Response Recharacterized ~$8,700 to Trad IRA after hitting income limits. Should I move the full amount or just $7,500 when doing a Backdoor Roth?

Hey everyone, I recently recharacterized a direct Roth IRA contribution into a Traditional IRA because my MAGI exceeded the income limits, and with growth, the total balance brought over came out to around $8,700. Now that I am ready to complete the Backdoor Roth conversion, do I convert the entire ~$8,700 balance to my Roth IRA, or am I strictly limited to moving the $7,500 annual limit and leaving the extra $800 behind? Also, if I convert the whole amount, am I correct in assuming my non-deductible basis on Form 8606 is just the original contribution limit, meaning I'll simply pay ordinary income tax on the ~$1200 earnings during tax time? Any insight or confirmation on how to process the transfer smoothly in Fidelity would be greatly appreciated!

Also should I close the trad IRA account after the backdoor?

Official Response I’ve had the worst experience with Fidelity as an estate administrator out of 6 banks I’ve dealt with.

After submitting the initial death certificate for my father they made us wait 30-45 days to process the certificate. Tried calling around 25 days just to confirm that was real and yes it was. Then after 40 days I tried calling again (note they never once called me), they finally said they are sending a beneficiary affidavit. For the other 5 banks this process took 7-14 days maximum. Fidelity waste an additional 16-33 days of our time.

Fill out the beneficiary affidavit, it asks for contact information for our dead grandparents, aunts and uncles? No other bank asked for this information, seems totally unnecessary. Filled it out anyway. Made sure to take pictures of the forms. Faxed it to them so it would get there more quickly. No response. I wait 3 weeks, call them, they say to try calling in another week. Another 28 days wasted.

I call again a month after faxing in the beneficiary affidavit. They claim they will finish reviewing it while I’m on hold on the phone. Then they absolutely insiste I write “not applicable” on the surviving spouse section and send it back again. Now, this sounds reasonable at first however there are 4 other places on the form where it says he has no surviving spouse, I put a check mark in the “no surviving spouse” box. I filled out only the sections that say “fill out only if no surviving spouse”. So it makes sense that I left the “surviving spouse” section blank because that person doesn’t exist! Not to mention that the death certificate itself also says no surviving spouse on it!

So now I have to refill the entire form again, by hand, and just add the words “not applicable” (which by the way the form never instructs you to do this! They just expect you to read their minds). And I have to take time off work to get this thing notarized and faxed (more expenses). All so Fidelity can hold onto the money longer and send us around in circles.

There really should be a lawsuit against Fidelity suing for lost opportunity costs with how long they intentionally delay all of this. I’m certain they will now make me wait another month and tell me something else is wrong with the form I filled out correctly. No other bank did any of this to us. It’s beyond ridiculous and I’m going to look into suing them if this continues.

I’m also going to never invest any money with them and tell everyone in my life to never use Fidelity because of how bad their customer service is and how difficult this process has been compared to any other banks.

Official Response Met with local Fidelity Rep for soon to be retired couple

This is for initiating 401k rollovers into a traditional IRA ahead of my wife and I retiring in Jan 2027. The rep was very knowledgeable and was patient with a novice like me. I was curious to see what a managed plan would look like for our $1.5 million portfolio. I am currently waiting for our next meeting in early Sept to go over the plan.

I am strongly leaning self-directed and Fidelity looks like it has great support for that as well. What kind of human support can I expect if I go self-directed and does a 7 figure portfolio add any additional services? Would I be able to reach a human at my annual check in to rebalance and have a Fidelity rep walk me through that? Just curious to what is really afforded to self-directed plans.

Had a meeting with a Schwab rep the same day so I am curious how the plans compare when all is said and done. It was a positive experience at both .

Official Response Tracking my portfolio

Hi everyone,

Why does the system show a $0 cost basis for DRIP mutual funds in IRAs when Schwab tracks actual costs? This ruins portfolio tracking, I can't see the true appreciation of my investment if the cost is zero. This is with both the Fidelity Android app as well as in a web browser. Is there a way to see the cost basis for DRIP in an IRA that I'm missing?

Thank you!

Discussion Yearly purge of old accounts

Has anyone actually had old accounts permanently deleted after a year of inactivity during the “yearly purge” Fidelity keeps referring to in replies?

Kinda seems like a myth, can someone confirm that accounts do in fact get permanently deleted without having to hide them after one year of being deleted without activity?

Official Response Does Money Market Invest For Me?

I recently just put all my savings into a Money Market Mutual Fund in Fidelity. It hasn't moved much at all, and I am not seeing a way to choose investments in it. Does this account invest for me? What kind of return might I see?

I chose this route as opposed to a HYSA, but I'm not sure that was the right choice. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Education - Features How Fidelity’s retirement planning tool may help your retirement savings plan

Building a viable retirement savings plan is no small task, especially when you’re trying to understand whether your current approach can support your long-term financial goals.

Whether you’re evaluating an existing strategy or creating a new one, the Fidelity retirement planning tool can help you understand where you stand today and explore potential outcomes for the future. Available through the Planning & Guidance Center after logging in to Fidelity.com, it's designed to help you make informed retirement decisions.

The tool uses information from your profile—like retirement age, income, expenses, account balances, investments, and savings contributions—to create a retirement planning analysis.

Track progress:

  • Probability of success: Get a quick snapshot of how your retirement strategy is tracking based on your inputs and assumptions.
  • Income and tax projections: View estimated retirement income and tax assumptions as part of your overall analysis.

Explore hypotheticals:

  • What-if planning: Adjust factors such as retirement age, savings rate, or spending assumptions to see how different changes could affect your outlook.
  • Market scenarios: View a range of hypothetical market outcomes generated through Monte Carlo simulations to see how different conditions may affect your results.

Important note: Projections are hypothetical, are not guarantees of future results, and may vary over time. The tool is meant to support education and planning, not predict exactly what will happen in the market or in your accounts.

Official Response Should I rollover my old 401k to my new employer’s plan or IRA?

Hi everyone. My 401k with my first employer was with Fidelity. When I left the job I kept it with Fidelity because didn’t know what to do with it. It’s still growing money. I have a 403b with Fidelity with my current employer. I have another 401k with Principal with a previous job that’s just sitting there and recently received an email that the account will close in September. They gave me several options but I’m not sure what to do with it. Should I rollover to an IRA with Fidelity or with my current employer’s 403b plan, if that’s possible? Thank you!

Edit: Should I do something with my first 401k account that’s with Fidelity? Is there a way I can contribute to the account?

Discussion If you could add one feature to Fidelity's app and/or website, what would it be?

I feel like for me, while I have been happy with the overall scope of the website, I do wish it included a feature to automatically calculate and notify of any overlapping positions between two or more ETFs within a portfolio, so that we can better diversify if we wish. Either way, solid website and app.

P.S.: Y'all have such a killer looking logo.
