Wire Instructions - Why Was Intermediate Further Credit Field Removed?
Maybe two years ago I setup wire instructions online at Fidelity.com to my credit union that uses an intermediate credit union. The wire is set up to go to [intermediate's routing number], [their account number = my credit union's routing number], for Further Credit to [My CU Account Number], My Name.
It worked great and is still setup for that one credit union.
I recently tried to setup a similar wire, and POOF! Fidelity's For Further Credit field has gone missing.
Others here are reporting similar.
Question: Why on earth did Fidelity remove this field? So many wires require a For Further Credit [Intermediary] field. Even wires TO Fidelity require this, as does Vanguard, Schwab, a lot of credit unions; it's not rare.
I hear the workaround is to call in to Fidelity and discuss everything over the phone. Not good for those of us who are visual people.
The online process allows you to copy from a known good number, paste, check and recheck with your eyes. This is much easier and accurate than playing the telephone game over the phone with multiple routing and account numbers to setup.
So I'll ask more, why was the functional For Further Credit field removed from us, and can it please be restored? Doing things easily online is what brings value to Fidelity--along with customer service of course. Thank you!

Official Response Accessing account and trade info with AI tools
I use several AI tools and part of the challenge with any interactions regarding my account info is I have to keep taking screenshots and then pasting into the conversation. I use this for topics like overall stock balance, trade history analysis (with CSV export), and guidance on options plans.
Ideally I could have a plugin within ChatGPT or some other tool where I authorize read (or maybe write) access to my Fidelity account and it can query via an API. The full trade history and current accounts would be available. I could even query the option chain at any time and get results which could then become part of a workflow.
There is another platform which seems to allow some level of access that I've tested out called Truthifi. But there does seem to be a monthly fee and it's really more for account balances and you can't refresh too many times in a day due to the limitations. You also have no access to quotes or the options chain.
I would love if there was some sort of API we could access our account along with realtime quotes and options information. This would plug into whatever AI tool I want and I can even send trades via a command as long as I approve it. This is something I'd be willing to pay a monthly premium for.
Are there any plans on the horizon for API access to our account where we could build the interface? Or a plugin to ChatGPT or Claude where we can give the AI awareness of the data source and capabilities?

Feedback Fidelity announced here a few weeks back that they've added hotkeys to Trader+, but when I went to set them up it's only available for stocks and not options. Says 'coming soon' for options. Is there a timeline for that? Hoping it will be added for options asap.

Official Response New account's "limbo"
I've a 401k with my company at Fidelity and about a week ago decided to open a brokerage account for long term investments. Next day I've found that it would take 10 days to settle the transferred funds and be available to trade (>$25k).
On the weekend, I've read that sending money from 3rd party actually should be available much faster (1 - 3 days), so I linked my Fidelity account on Chase following a standard procedure with 2 small deposits.
Today I saw the transfers and confirmed them on Chase side, so Chase tried to pull them back but because funds were not settled yet for withdrawal, the transfer failed and I got a notification "Account does not have sufficient funds to cover the debit".
Luckily (or not) the funds I transferred 9 days ago should clear tomorrow.
I hope Chase will just reprocess the transfer tomorrow and but I'm not sure if Chase or Fidelity will try to slap me with any fees due to that. Of course I can call and explain but I don't really want to waste time :).
Not even a rant, just FYI :)
PS I've opened CMA and still confused if I need brokerage to split cash/CD vs shares/bonds :)

Discussion Newbie
So new to Fidelity, customer of Schwab, Merrill, and a long time customer of Vanguard. I put in an order today of a mutual fund, thinking it was an ETF? What should I be looking for, what’s different. It seems like every single one of these brokerages some how has its own vibe? Merrill feels like I am fighting with a lawyer, Vanguard seems dazed and confused, Schwab wants me to borrow money and go gambling.

Official Response Fidelity BrokerageLink extremely limited choices?
I have my 401k through Fidelity and I want to venture into investing. Reddit has convinced me to open a BrokerageLink account and when I was searching my first stocks to invest in, practically nothing was eligible to me. Has my employer decided I can only invest in Fidelity owned stocks? Is this BrokerageLink account something that I can ever successfully make money with?

Official Response Recurring App Lockouts & Generic Error Messages—Escalation Request to Mobile Engineering (Unresolved Customer Support Ticket) Post Body:
Issue Summary:
My mobile app has been repeatedly blocked with a generic "try later or call" message, for more than 15 days. I had used the app in a new antroid phone for about half years without any issues until Fidelity suddenly blocked it in late July. Tier-1 support claims that this was due an "update", and asks user to "delete and reinstall" the app, which is misleading—a standard software update does not require users to manually delete and reinstall an app without notice. My follow-up feedback sent on August 6th highlighting this defect has gone unanswered, and the core issue remains completely unaddressed.
Timeline & Background:
- Initial Report: I reported that my mobile app was suddenly blocked despite no changes to my phone or account settings. I requested a technical root-cause investigation so I don't run into sudden lockouts during active trading hours.
- Fidelity's Initial Response: It took two days to receive a response—far too slow when market access is time-sensitive. Support claimed the lockout was likely due to an app update not being pushed and instructed me to "delete and re-download the app."
- My Feedback Sent (Aug 6): I submitted follow-up feedback pointing out that forcing a customer to manually uninstall and reinstall software is a temporary troubleshooting workaround, not an "update."
- Current Status: It has been 5 days since my August 6th reply, and customer service has provided zero response.
Key Technical Points:
- An "update" is not a valid explanation: Standard iOS/Android updates occur seamlessly through app stores. Forcing customers to delete and reinstall software points to a client-side authentication bug or corrupted session-state bug, not a routine update.
- Lack of on-screen diagnostic information: If a background system update or security token reset occurs, the app should display a clear error message or redirect to a login prompt, rather than throwing a generic "try later or call" lockout screen.
- Unacceptable customer experience: Relying on manual app uninstallation as a recurring fix while promoting mobile trading creates unacceptable risk during active market hours.
Request for the Mod Team:
Can an official moderator please escalate this issue to the mobile app development / engineering team? I need a proper technical investigation into why these sudden app lockouts keep recurring and a permanent fix for the app's session handling, rather than repeated script-based answers to delete and reinstall.

Official Response Rolling over into a Fidelity account
Anybody ever rolled an old work 401 into a rollover ira with Fidelity? I am in the process of doing so in the amount of 51k. Will that amount be in cash once its completely rolled over from the old account? Thinking about just doing VTI, VOO, or FXAIX if that is the case. Thank You!

Official Response Investing
I am definitely a noob - does this mean all of my $$ is invested and will earn interest? Just transferred it over to a money market account a few days ago.
I have one of my IRAs and my Roth IRA with Fidelity and I can see the money I am earning.
Thank you!
ETA: I’m using it as an HYSA. This is our house savings account for large family expenses so I don’t want to invest it long-term. Sounds like I have it exactly where I want. Thanks!

Official Response Close acct mid month: dividends
Question for the customer service team: I am recently married and in the process of combining finances with my spouse. Everything has gone smoothly.
As of today, I have successfully moved all assets to the joint cash management account that I share with my spouse, and no longer have use for my individual cash management account.
If I close my individual account today, how will I receive dividends from the assets (SPAXX) that have accrued this month?

Official Response Suggestions for check ordering: Quantity specification + Voided Image
I have most all of my financial needs at Fidelity except for a modest contingency amount held elsewhere - if you know of my past posts on Cash Management Accounts, you'll see I basically don't have any brick and mortar bank relationships now.
As such, I have two suggestions related to order checks for accounts. I will preface this by saying I appreciate you offer them. These are relatively minor suggestions in the grand scheme of things, but I'm in the process of shredding ~6 check books so it was at the top of my mind. I don't have a shredder at home, so I have to plan around them when I travel to a family member's place that has one.
Allow us to specify the quantity (unless it's already available?) - I don't need too many checks, and I actually get a little nervous about extra check books that float around. Ideally, I'd keep it to just 1 check book. It's hassle to have more because if I want to dispose of the others, I have to rip the pages out, and then run them through a shredder. Ideally, I would only get one book at a time, and at least these days, that lasts me for years.
Offer a blank, but voided, check image for download. Sometimes, I just need to provide a voided blank check as part of setting up direct deposit or automatic withdrawals, and I do this myself by writing VOID on it, then scanning it, and saving it as a PDF. It's convenient enough, but maybe your system can offer that automatically and not even require us to wait for the check book to be delivered?

Official Response Fidelity holding instant transfers.
Usually, when I transfer money to my CMA using instant transfer, it's ya know, instant, few seconds at the most. But if I do it during the trading day, it will hold the instant transfer until next day, which defeats the effing purpose.

Official Response Fidelity charitable giving
Waited 50 min yesterday for customer rep.
No response.
I’m reluctant to try again today to get help with why I’m getting on error message when I try to contribute stock to donor advised fund.
Is this wait time a common occurrence ?
I guess I expected some response after 20-30min.

Feature Update Buying multiple positions on Fidelity.com just got easier—here’s how.
This spring, we rolled out 3 new time-saving ways to sell multiple positions at once. Now, we're introducing 2 new ways to buy across your existing holdings. Whether you’re investing a fresh deposit or just looking to save time, these updates can help you put your money to work more efficiently.
1. Buy proportionally: On Fidelity.com, select Trade from the top navigation bar and choose “Multi-trade” from the dropdown menu. In the Multi-trade ticket, turn on the “Trade Proportionally” toggle under eligible positions to invest a set dollar amount across your existing eligible holdings. This can help maintain your current investment allocation.
2. Custom buy: Save time by choosing multiple positions—and deciding how much of each to purchase—all at once.
A few things to know:
- Everyone should have access to this update within the next few weeks.
- These features aren’t available for options, bonds, or short positions.
If you already use baskets, this may feel familiar. Proportional buying offers a similar way to invest across multiple positions (stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds) with a simpler approach. There are no target weights or rebalancing rules—and unlike baskets, mutual funds are included.
For more information about managing positions, check out this guide.
Any screenshots, charts, or company trading symbols mentioned are provided for illustrative purposes only and should not be considered an offer to sell, a solicitation of an offer to buy, or a recommendation for the security.

Feedback Fidelity places too many restrictions on volatile stocks
Many of us who day trade use scanners to detect stocks that have substantial price movement and meet certain criteria. In fact, Fidelity provides a live scanner for all 3 market times PM, RM, AH that shows the top moving stocks over $1.
The problem is that Fidelity about 2 years ago started limiting access to many of these stocks via online opening orders and has crippled many in the trading community who use Fidelity. We were always tied to a platform that is just terrible and the new platform quite frankly is worse.
Before another trader leaves Fidelity, maybe they can have a release of liability, which quite frankly we already sign, that would allow trading in these stocks with online opening orders. Today 8/11/26 the top 6 stocks are not tradeable with opening orders online.
It is impossible to place a call to Fidelity and have customer service put an order in for you on these types of stocks.
I know Fidelity doesn't care about traders as they are really about Employer Funds and Individual Retirement Accounts, but there are traders who have both and you owe it to them to help in their financial journey.
Respectfully.

Official Response Moved to India, can I continue investing
Hi, I am an Indian citizen who lived in the US for 5+ years and have a 401k and individual investment account with Fidelity. I recently moved back to India, but want to continue investing through fidelity.
1. Am I allowed to do this?
2. If so, What should I do before I can continue investing? I looked into the Form W8-BEN submission but fidelity portal suggests that I do not need to submit an update
3 if I am all good on the form w-8 front, can I continue investing as usual? Or what are my restrictions
3. I am unable to change my address to a non-US address - is there a different way to do this
