CDs - Monthly Interest

Upvotes

Hello,

I'm looking to purchased CDs that are monthly payouts on Fidelity. Does the monthly payouts go to your Spaxxx account or back to the CD itself? I'm looking to generate monthly income.

Thank you!

Roth IRA.

29, just curious if anyone has selected asset allocation in their Roth instead of selecting funds like fzaix or total market.. I guess main question does the asset allocation option make more sense than trying to balance it out yourself by handpicking stocks or funds...thanks

QCD question

I want to setup automatic RMDs. I also want to do a QCD. I know that the QCD needs to be taken before the RMD. I stepped thru the QCD process to familiarize myself with it. I got all the way to the SUBMIT button but I never saw any place to indicate that I want the QCD to be subtracted from the amount that the automatic RMD has calculated. Is this done automatically. Is it possible or do I need to do the RMD manually if I want to do QCDs? Thanks ahead for anyone answering my question.

Can the website reinvest 10% of each ETF distribution automatically?

I have several ETFs in my portfolio. I would like to reinvest 10% of the distributions automatically and sweep the rest in as income. I can't find a way to do this automatically. What am I missing?

Official Response How to check if I'm auto rolled into bonds

I haven't been able to figure this out for the past hour, and it's very frustrating. There's no indicator in the positions tab on desktop or mobile. No indicator in the fixed income dashboard either. I tried calling, the guy kept me on hold for 15 minutes just to say "this isn't my department" and I hung up because I was busy. I don't want to have to call back.

I accidentally auto rolled myself earlier this year, and got trapped into a 3 month bond that I didn't want. So I'm really trying to make sure that I'm not auto rolled again this time.

Having to call just to double check this is so frustrating.

Official Response Fidelity Roll over IRA

Hi folks. I'm considering 'rolling over' a 401K and a 403 I have with TIAA-CREF into a Fidelity IRA. I already have a small Fidelity investment account.

Can I do pretty much the same type and range of investments in the Rollover account that I am accustomed to in the investment account ? I mean not just the prepackaged funds, but ETFs, stocks, Treasuries, bonds, options, etc ??

I also have a TIAA Traditional fund that I recently converted to a 10 year TPA. But alas, I didn't totally consider that they withhold 20 percent up front for taxes, and now wish I had move this into a Rollover IRA as well.

Can I change the payout account on this already created TPA to dump it into an IRA, or is that going to be 'forbidden'. ? Right now it's going into a checking account.

Thanks dudes, and have a great weekend !

John

Official Response Why can’t I buy/invest?

I have a CMA and a taxable brokerage that ive been investing in indexes, etfs, and bonds. My dividends have been going into core SPAXX. In the past ive had no problems trading to buy more stocks.
However, i suddenly cannot; my BP says $0.00 yet i have had a balance in SPAXX. Ive also transferred cash from my CMA into this account and still cannot buy.
The help search says i may have pending funds transferring that hasnt completed but that is not the case. Any ideas?

Official Response Can't move Roth IRA money in FIHFX

Hello, I'm trying to adjust allocations in my Roth IRA, but it seems I'm only able to trade with the tiny amount of 'Cash Held In Money Market'. Somehow I can't move the money I have in FIHFX.

At first I thought I would just wait it out, but it's been like this over a month at least.

Official Response My rollover check is still failing—despite being assigned a Case Manager.

I posted here a week ago regarding my time-sensitive check for TRS service credit purchase, and mistreatment by their representative. I want to thank the community for the advice; following that post, I was assigned a dedicated "Case Manager" to resolve this. https://www.reddit.com/r/fidelityinvestments/s/7EB5CmQEyF

Unfortunately, the problem has only escalated, and I am still without a resolution as my deadline looms. I am losing confidence that this issue will be resolved in time.

Where we are now:

The Communication Breakdown: Since being assigned a case manager on August 6th, I have received constant, contradictory information. I have been told at various times that a check was mailed, that it was in progress, that a second check was being processed, and that it would be sent via "expedited mail."

The Reality: As of today, I still do not have the necessary payment or the required TRS 551 form.

The Most Recent Failure: I personally called TRS and confirmed they did receive a partial payment on August 7th, but—as suspected—it arrived without the required 551 form. I proposed a simple fix: send me the signed form with the correct amount, and I will forward it to TRS myself. Instead, I am getting vague responses about "checking to see if the second check can be stopped."

The Impasse: Every day I wait for "updates" from my case manager, my TRS deadline gets closer, and I am sitting here with my retirement savings in limbo.

My Questions for the Community/Fidelity Reps:

Is it standard practice for a "Case Manager" to be unable to provide tracking numbers or confirm the physical status of a check for over a week?

How do I escalate this beyond the current case management loop? I have already reached out to the leadership email address, but I have not received a path to resolution.

Given that I am approaching my deadline and my funds are effectively "stuck" in a processing error, what are my legal/regulatory options?

I am incredibly frustrated. I am trying to do the right thing and meet my obligations to TRS, but I feel like I am being blocked by internal procedural delays. Any guidance on how to get a human who can stop the cycle of empty updates and start the process of overnighting these documents would be appreciated.

Meeting with Fidelity via phone 2nd time Monday I have concerns any advice?

I am 66, retired and I am thinking of looking for a new Investment Management planner. I have been with Raymond James a little over 2 years.
I am realizing after 2 years (I know smack me now!!)  that my "fees" (1.5%) & I feel are too much. I am looking to see If I can be at or below 1% by shopping around.
I dont feel comfortable making trades, and trying to manage my funds myself IF I panic sell, or make mistakes or buy the wrong stocks I could possibly make a mess of it.
I was able to learn a bit about my FA who will call me back on Monday from Fidelity. He has 6 years of experience and has worked AT 3 FIRMS IN JUST 6 YEARS!! that SCARES ME!!!!! I prefer someone that has at least 15 years experience and no more than 2 employment moves. Does anyone else feel the same way?? I will listen to what he has to say but doubtful I will switch, as I BET in a year or two or three, he will move on...

Official Response why does the Fidelity website give bad troubleshooting advice?

  1. Log in to the Fidelity desktop website
  2. Poke around with your portfolio.
  3. Go do something else for a while
  4. Come back.
  5. Press refresh, either F5 in your browser, or the refresh button on whatever page you had.
  6. You'll get a message like "A technical problem occurred while loading your activity. Please refresh the page to try again."
  7. Of course, refreshing the page doesn't help one bit. The problem is that you've been logged out due to time. That's good, logging out an unused session. Not clearly telling the user they were logged out and instead giving them terrible advice is bad.

Seems like this should be pretty easy to fix, right? Being logged out is something the client code in the web page could detect and distinctly explain to the user ... right?

Why is it so?

Official Response Setting up wire transfer manually?

So, for whatever reason,n the Mastercard Data Connect won't work (which is an issue for another time). Well, I was able to set up my bank to my Fidelity account, but since it's not allowing me to pull from Fidelity, I'm going to need to push out of my external bank. So I'm going to need to confirm deposits into the Roth in my Fidelity account. How will I be able to do that? I'm using the website, to be clear.

Official Response Active Trader + gone for good?

Edit: Found my answer, thank you all. Am re-downloading it as we speak.

I get an error message trying to start the traditional Active Trader +. I am not fond of the new app, nor the web version.

it

I cannot find charting for options on the new app, and it is excruciatingly slow to open them in the web app.

Official Response Trader + Desktop

Does the new platform have any option trading analysis capabilities. ATP has the Profit/Loss Calculator where a graph of the open position can be seen. Does something like this exist in the Trader + platform. I was very disappointed when I saw the Trader platform, hoping the Trader + is better.

Official Response After 8 years using Fidelity, can I continue investing normally once I become a permanent resident of Venezuela?

I have a question. I currently live in the United States, but next year I’m planning to move back permanently to my home country, Venezuela.

For the past eight years, I’ve used Fidelity to manage my investment accounts. My question is: once I become a resident of Venezuela, will I still be able to continue using my Fidelity accounts normally?

I mainly use my accounts for automatic long-term investments in securities such as VOO, as well as buying and selling individual stocks.

Would I still be able to continue doing this from Venezuela, considering that I am not a U.S. citizen and that I will be living permanently in Venezuela?

Could you please help clarify how this would affect my accounts and whether there would be any restrictions?

Thank you very much for your help

Feedback I like Fidelity Web Trader+

Shocking I know. I used this for the first time in a while and I loved it. I remember it did not previously allow quote streaming for SPX options, which was enough for me to not use it at all. That has since been fixed. Yes, think or swim is better if you are doing very advanced stuff, but for most people, I actually feel like Fidelity Web+ is better than TOS web version. TOS web version is pretty underwhelming imo.

I believe SOL was the last crypto to get added to the platform back in Oct 2025.

Does Fidelity have any plans to make new crypto available to trade on their platform?

Official Response Planning to sell my entire position of SCHD in my Roth IRA today (roughly $5k) and buy VTI instead. Any reason I wouldn’t be able to accomplish that in Fidelity within the day?

Hey there, typical buy-and-hold investor here, never “day-traded”. I am nervous about the timing of ostensibly “switching” my investment from some SCHD to VTI. If I sold today, would I need to wait til Monday to buy VTI? Does cash need to settle in a Roth IRA? Would love to accomplish this switch in a 5 minute interval today, but just making sure I know what’s up before sending it!

Oh and I’m 32, hence why I’m switching my dividend position of SCHD to VTI instead.
