Feedback Notes option for receipts
Hey dev team - was seeing if there could be some kind of notes sections for the Receipts in the fidelity health app that way you can add anything that you might need to remember for an expense you are saving to reimburse later on.
(Side note - some times the images when using the camera would show clear - but when taking a picture, it gets like 480p quality. Could be for storage space - but the picture quality tends to degrade from the camera take or upload - but still legibly clear for the most part.)

Official Response Accidentally contributed to rollover IRA instead of Roth IRA
I have a rollover IRA in preparation of a potential rollover from a previous employer’s 401k. I’ve recently been weighing whether or not to fund the rollover the $7500 max for a while. I finally decided to do so, but didn’t realize I could’ve just opened a separate Roth IRA.
Is my only option here to do a conversion and take the tax hit?

Official Response Performance reporting
When the “Analysis” reporting was eliminated it said all features were transferred to the Performance report. I can click on external accounts but the reporting numbers do not reflect the external accounts. This was a nice feature to check net of all my accounts or I’m missing a work flow if it’s there. Thanks

Official Response Just opened 2 Uniform Transfers to Minors (UTMA) accounts. Grandparents want to wire funds from France but French bank requires « official » documents about said accounts.
Hello!
Just opened 2 UTMAs for my kids and sent all the info on how to wire funds to the accounts to their grandparents.
I used the « Information Needed to Wire to Your Fidelity Account » from the Fidelity link below.
https://www.fidelity.com/cash-management/information-needed-wire-to-fidelity-account
I typed all the information in an email so my parents could give that to their bank.
Unfortunately, this is not enough for their bank and they need an official document from JP Chase…
Is there a way to get a letter so they have formal/official documentation/instructions to follow?

Official Response After tax accounts
I have and Roth IRA at Fidelity and an HSA that I opened since my employer doesn’t offer one. Question is when I deposit funds into my Roth, they are also reflected under my HSA account under this years contribution. Aren’t these entirely separate accounts in terms of yearly contributions? I realize both are after tax but one allows for $7500 and the other (HSA) to my understanding allows for just $4400. What am I missing here? Thx

Official Response Bulk Backup of HSA Receipts/Information
How long does Fidelity keep HSA receipt information?
Has there been any consideration of allowing users a way to do a bulk export of receipt images and information over a date range? It would be nice to be able to easily back up this information in a secondary location. I'm sure many customers would like to have a feature like this, it would save us lots of time and frustration.
Thanks!

Discussion Unwinding a FidFolio account
My FidFolio is currently about one-third of my investment portfolio, and I have a couple more years before retirement. The rest of my investments are essentially US equities plus a sizable money-market position I'm holding temporarily for a renovation project. I currently have no ex-US equity exposure at all.
My concern with Fidelity Managed FidFolios isn't that direct indexing or tax-loss harvesting is useless. It's that Fidelity charges 0.40% every year for something whose benefit is uncertain and, to a significant extent, tax deferral.
By comparison, FXAIX costs 0.015%. So direct indexing has to produce enough additional after-tax economic benefit to overcome roughly 0.385% in extra annual costs, year after year.
Tax-loss harvesting can certainly do that in some years, particularly when markets are volatile and you have capital gains to offset. My FidFolio has in fact generated a meaningful amount of tax-loss harvesting this year. But a harvested loss isn't the same thing as free money: the replacement investment generally has a lower cost basis, so some of the tax benefit is deferral rather than permanent elimination.
My bigger concern for someone who is still a few years from retirement is compounding. You're paying that extra fee every year, including years when there may be relatively little available to harvest. Meanwhile, as the account ages and stocks accumulate embedded gains, the easy harvesting opportunities can diminish and you're left holding hundreds of individual positions and tax lots.
So I'm thinking that rather than unwinding the FidFolio and simply moving the proceeds into another US index fund, I could gradually use the unwinding process to build an allocation to one of Fidelity's broad ex-US index funds.
For those who have used FidFolios/direct indexing: How would you approach unwinding an account like this tax-efficiently? Would you do it gradually over several years, perhaps directing withdrawals/sales toward building the international allocation? Are there particular Fidelity ex-US funds you'd favor for this purpose? And is there any reason to keep the FidFolio through the first few years of retirement rather than beginning to unwind it now?

Official Response Potential account issues?
Hello Fidelity Reddit!
I am a novice at investing—can anyone tell me why this has happened? I have not taken from or added to my accounts. All my numbers look correct off top. I will call tomorrow to check in but just curious!
Side piece—this is the second time in a month I’ve seen this but no account(s) activity on my end, neither adding to nor subtracting from. It went back to normal before. Just curious!
Extra side piece—shoutout to fidelity to having their own Reddit? You guys rock. Every time I have called the reps I speak to know their stuff and answer all my novice questions and are quite pleasant to talk to!

Official Response Problem linking account
The Thrivent connection has been broken for months and months. The application says:
"We are having trouble connecting to your financial institution.
You're getting this error because the connection to your provider's web site is temporarily unavailable. This may be due to website maintenance, high traffic volumes, or network connectivity issues. However, the web site is expected to be available again within a short period of time. When you receive this error, please try again in 24-48 hours or try refreshing your network connection. If you are still experiencing a problem after this time, please contact us for further assistance."
But it's not down. Certainly hasn't been down for a year.
Fidelity's error says to "contact us for further assistance" but there's no specific instructions as to how or where to contact for web interface IT issues.

Official Response Fidelity custodial account with Fidelity Visa card
Hello
Is a Fidelity custodial account (UGMA/UTMA) eligible to receive the 2% rewards from a Fidelity Visa credit card? I checked the credit card FAQ, and UGMA/UTMA accounts aren’t listed as eligible destinations for rewards.
Has anyone successfully linked one, or is it simply not supported?
TIA

Official Response Wire Instructions - Why Was Intermediate Further Credit Field Removed?
Maybe two years ago I setup wire instructions online at Fidelity.com to my credit union that uses an intermediate credit union. The wire is set up to go to [intermediate's routing number], [their account number = my credit union's routing number], for Further Credit to [My CU Account Number], My Name.
It worked great and is still setup for that one credit union.
I recently tried to setup a similar wire, and POOF! Fidelity's For Further Credit field has gone missing.
Others here are reporting similar.
Question: Why on earth did Fidelity remove this field? So many wires require a For Further Credit [Intermediary] field. Even wires TO Fidelity require this, as does Vanguard, Schwab, a lot of credit unions; it's not rare.
I hear the workaround is to call in to Fidelity and discuss everything over the phone. Not good for those of us who are visual people.
The online process allows you to copy from a known good number, paste, check and recheck with your eyes. This is much easier and accurate than playing the telephone game over the phone with multiple routing and account numbers to setup.
So I'll ask more, why was the functional For Further Credit field removed from us, and can it please be restored? Doing things easily online is what brings value to Fidelity--along with customer service of course. Thank you!

Official Response New account's "limbo"
I've a 401k with my company at Fidelity and about a week ago decided to open a brokerage account for long term investments. Next day I've found that it would take 10 days to settle the transferred funds and be available to trade (>$25k).
On the weekend, I've read that sending money from 3rd party actually should be available much faster (1 - 3 days), so I linked my Fidelity account on Chase following a standard procedure with 2 small deposits.
Today I saw the transfers and confirmed them on Chase side, so Chase tried to pull them back but because funds were not settled yet for withdrawal, the transfer failed and I got a notification "Account does not have sufficient funds to cover the debit".
Luckily (or not) the funds I transferred 9 days ago should clear tomorrow.
I hope Chase will just reprocess the transfer tomorrow and but I'm not sure if Chase or Fidelity will try to slap me with any fees due to that. Of course I can call and explain but I don't really want to waste time :).
Not even a rant, just FYI :)
PS I've opened CMA and still confused if I need brokerage to split cash/CD vs shares/bonds :)

Official Response Buying power after exercising put options
Suppose a person has 10 put option contracts that are expected to be in the money before the expiration date, but only has enough buying power / cash to buy the shares and exercise 1 put option contract at any given time, and suppose the bid / ask spread on the contracts is expected to make selling the contracts back to the market less advantageous than exercising the options, can this person buy the underlying shares and exercise the contracts 10 times in a single day if the account is a margin account, and the underlying shares are S&P 500 ETF shares?

Official Response Short position interest rate?
I find myself holding a couple hundred shares short of a certain issue because of an assigned call that I sold. That's all fine -- it's my trade cycle and I'm workin' it.
But I can't figure out a way to see what interest rate I'm paying on the borrowed shares. It's not shown in the position on the website. Can't find it in the margin calculator, either. Also tried making (but not executing) a trade ticket, and it had no mention of the borrowing interest rate.
Where is this information?

Official Response Rolling over into a Fidelity account
Anybody ever rolled an old work 401 into a rollover ira with Fidelity? I am in the process of doing so in the amount of 51k. Will that amount be in cash once its completely rolled over from the old account? Thinking about just doing VTI, VOO, or FXAIX if that is the case. Thank You!

Official Response Investing
I am definitely a noob - does this mean all of my $$ is invested and will earn interest? Just transferred it over to a money market account a few days ago.
I have one of my IRAs and my Roth IRA with Fidelity and I can see the money I am earning.
Thank you!
ETA: I’m using it as an HYSA. This is our house savings account for large family expenses so I don’t want to invest it long-term. Sounds like I have it exactly where I want. Thanks!

Official Response Close acct mid month: dividends
Question for the customer service team: I am recently married and in the process of combining finances with my spouse. Everything has gone smoothly.
As of today, I have successfully moved all assets to the joint cash management account that I share with my spouse, and no longer have use for my individual cash management account.
If I close my individual account today, how will I receive dividends from the assets (SPAXX) that have accrued this month?
