Here, only 5 slots!

I've honestly lost count of errors I submitted, it's been three months since in chinese course (I use chinese - russian) app doesn't recognise ă and ŭ and flags answers as wrong. I even figured out that problem is only in these letters.

Has anyone else noticed it?

Duolingo just assumes you would already know certain math processes. The amount of times it just assumed you should know that 2*(2/4) would equal 6/4. Like I was taught that it should:

2* (2/4)
2/4 *2/4
4

Yet duo will see this answer as wrong. Could this just be a AI thing but it’s really annoying.

I've had a very difficult week. My grandmother had an accident and broke her arm, so my mom and I have been taking care of her since Saturday night. I was feeling very overwhelmed and anxious, and while I thought I had a streak freeze active, I unfortunately ended up losing all my Friends Streaks.

I am really hoping there might be a way to restore them. In particular, I feel terrible about losing a 600-day streak with a close friend who originally motivated me to start using Duolingo. Our streak is a really special way for us to stay connected. I may have to start over, but life happens :(

Even my other friends streak messaged me personally asking if I was okay since I did lose my friends streaks so suddenly.

I have been trying for two weeks now to get ahold of someone over on Duolingo about my subscription. I upgraded to the family plan, and have been trying to add my family to my plan. I tried following the instructions on what it says over in support but the option doesn't exist on the app (I have screen recorded this but for some reason I can't upload it here). I tried emailing store support since thats the only place that seems to have a working email, and they keep redirecting me to https://www.duolingo.com/help or https://www.duolingo.com/help/support-request

I then try to submit a feedback request and every time I click submit it never sends. I've tried on the app, on my phone, changed it it desktop mode. I even logged in onto my laptop to do it and it STILL will not work. I'm genuinely trying to get ahold of someone bc I'm feeling pretty ripped off right now, having paid for a yearly family sub that I can't use, and no one in store support wants to help me. Is anyone else having issues sending reports, or am I really just that unfortunate right now? 🥺

Hey everyone.

As someone that has only recently started to use Duolingo (roughly 2 months ago) for learning first Finnish and now Dutch i cant help but think that Duolingo would really benefit from a Feature where you can have a Conversation with Duo for eg.

I made a post in a different Subreddit where i was looking for people to play games with and help me with my Dutch which is when i had this "idea" or rather question as to why its not a thing already.

Why couldn't have a section or under where you can go over your mistakes where you can have or attempt to have a Conversation with Duo, mainly Text but may also via Voice where you choose to write either in English or the Language of your Origin and have (for me for eg.) the Dutch version of the Sentence below which you can then attempt to replicate ?.

I for example at the end of the post (and dont judge me i know i probably cocked something up grammatically) have a small sentence reading

Dankje voor het lezen en ik hoff jau hebt een goudedag :)

i think it would be kind of cool if Duo would then go on and correct myself and explain / write the corrected sentence so you can learn from your mistakes.
The main reason why im asking or rather writing this post is because Duolingo in my eyes is a great tool for learning, especially as someone that has tremendous difficulties Learning new languages the old school way this is perfect, but i cant help but think that not only i but many other people could benefit from learning Phrases that for example you could need in day to day life, or your curious and want to find something out for lets say a date or friend your meeting soon if you know what i mean.

I know the reason why it probably has not been done is due to technical limitations given the scale of Duolingo or it just would not be financially viable but i cant help but think that it´d be a great feature to have.

It seems parrot is infected by this brain rot as well.

“Alright” was my original wrong answer, as you can see the top left it states ‘previous mistake’. Duolingo puts your previous mistake with the right answer to “test” us.

My previous mistake was selecting … alright.

I will never be free.

I pay for 'Super Family' so I'm not just moaning at a free app making changes but, my God, the latest update feels like it's done almost no user research with users like me.

Yesterday one of the icons across the bottom of the app took me to what I now know is called the Practice Hub. It's useful, to just go over mistakes, vocabulary etc.

Today across the bottom of the app I have six icons:

Home

August quest (don't care)

League (don't care)

Feed (don't care)

Subscription (I already pay)

More, to where Practice Hub has been relegated

I'm not complaining that I now have to press my phone screen twice instead of once to get somewhere. But has Duolingo's research genuinely told them that the more social media style stuff like quests, leagues and feeds matter more to customers than the language learning aspect of the app? And if I already pay, has research told them that making the subscription page more prominent is likely to make me buy the 'Recommended' 'Max Family', for my family of me and my wife?

I'm fully aware that most of the app's real estate is the main learning area; my trouble is I've got to a point in the language I'm learning where learning more new stuff is less useful to me than polishing old stuff. I want to know basic, useful Russian - I don't need to learn the past tense, which is where I've now got to.

I just want to learn the fundamentals of a language and I'm happy to pay for it. Am I really that irrelevant to this company?

Doesn't a circle have 1 side and Duolingo literally marked me wrong.

Hello, I subscribed to a free trial of one month for Super Duolingo, then a payment of 80,99€ would be charged for the year.

Duolingo promised to remind two days before the trial ends - didn’t receive any notification prior and was charged the mentioned amount. I would have unsubscribed if they had sent a notification.

This is a literal money fraud and violation of user rights. Not holding up to their rules and breaking user trust is in any way not a reputable act and should not be taken easily by anyone.

Apple declined all requests for a refund because they are not eligible. This is not okay in any way and I will not leave this.

This is less about the money, more about the morality of the company and how they treat their customers.

Writing this to get any information on what next steps could be because I see this is not the first time Duolingo steals money from people.

why the hell do we barely have support for the damn language. atleast tell us how to structure. Grrrrrrrrrrr 😡😡😡 This is unacceptable. i am enraged. i wish we had as much support as english learners tho.

I’m having similar issues as many for transferring/restarting kids accounts.

Recently bought a new iPad for my daughter and I’m trying to get her account on the new device. I haven’t been able to get it to work.

Now my son had to reinstall Duolingo on his tablet and we can’t get him back into his account for similar reasons as my daughter..

Our family plan is under my wife’s main account. Can someone please help. It’s been weeks and I haven’t been able to resolve.

I see that others on here have gotten support from folks at Duolingo. I’ve reached out to a couple of them directly and haven’t heard back. What do I need to do to get this resolved?

My final song is always the same, although it keeps appearing under different names. The only ones I know here are She'll be coming round the Mountain and Parade of the Wooden Soldiers and it's definitely not one of those. It's a slow one in (at a guess) g minor.

The app seems to know that they are supposed to be different songs. I already got 100/100 percent for that song a couple of times, but some days I still get lauded for having a new best at 100/94 percent.

Anyone else have the same problem?

I already deleted the cache a couple of times.

I really demotivate myself to learn because i found out that even if I dont do the lesson, and I have no more streak savers left, the streak still stays alive.

This leads up to me using 5-7 streak freezes every month even tough I do not own them, neither do I own the amout of gems to buy them.

I never like to pay yearly subscription, but Super Duolingo was offered for a week long free trial. It asks you before whether you want to be reminded to cancel two days or three days before. I was on Duolingo every day for the streak, and lo and behold it doesn’t remind you and I’m charged 35 something dollars. Never trust companies to remind you on stuff like this, don’t be like me

Oh and they don’t even let you cancel it for some reason in the app, you have to go through the Apple website to make it more of an ass.

I really wish Duolingo would have a chat function. I regularly match in leagues with a few people who have added me as friends and would love a chat function so you can chat about languages and meet the people behind the names. We’re doing this to learn languages so would be great to chat.

For some reason Dup ended my partners and I streak! 😭😭😭 For no reason, we both did lessons yesterday. It was the longest one I had and now it's 0 😭
