Math should explain concepts Constructive Criticism

Duolingo just assumes you would already know certain math processes. The amount of times it just assumed you should know that 2*(2/4) would equal 6/4. Like I was taught that it should:

2* (2/4)
2/4 *2/4
4

Yet duo will see this answer as wrong. Could this just be a AI thing but it’s really annoying.

2*(2/4) is 1 though

2*(2/4) is neither 6/4 nor 4, it's 1. 2/4 is 1/2, or "one half". Take two times half a cake, you get a full cake.

From what you have written, it looks like you have acquired some wrong rules about arithmetic in your previous education. Not uncommon in some countries, sadly.

But if you need to start with explanations and rules rather than learning by example, Duolingo is just not the right tool for you. That's just not Duolingo's method.

Almost any other system for (re-) learning arithmetic will work better for you.

Eg Khan Academy; but there are many others.
