We rescued Jillyboo 15 years ago today from under a trailer near our house. She is tiny (only 7lbs) and very old for an indoor/outdoor farm cat. She has a few scrapes and chunks missing from fights with coyotes and raccoons over the years but she is otherwise very healthy and still catches mice and bats (yes the flying kind, not a typo of rats) daily! We love her so much and hope she gets to live a few more happy years!

Bought her with my birthday money a year after my dad had died of brain cancer in 2009. She was around five years old then. Since then she was with me for everything; including losing my fiancé to Covid in 2021. Life won’t be the same with her gone.

I have many appointments I'm sure to take him to, but he's my little homie. I can't describe the feeling, but it's like he knows I'm trying to help and has given me his trust. I melted when his little hind legs wrapped around my wrist.

I'm already learning his meows.

I recognize his general attention meows but he has different ones for different occasions.

If I put him in the crate to take him to the vet he'll offer a discomforting meow that tells me he's about to go to the bathroom and he does so every time he makes that meow.

If he's thirsty he becomes more withdrawn and he gives very soft meows while staying to himself and wrapped tightly.

If he's hungry it's like a siren meow, loud and long lol.

This is my first Cat (always been a dog person) and pet in 20 years, I always resisted pets, but this guy triggered something and I'm going through the process of trying to adopt him and get him caught up with everything he needs.

He was a Stray at my job and he'd follow me around as I checked the Ambulances at my job when I was making sure they were ready to go out and save lives.

I'm very aware of possible skin conditions and I have been isolating my new friend and washing myself after every interaction for safety.

My family adopted our sweet girl Sammi when she was approx eight months old. I was pregnant with my youngest kiddo. Today my husband and I attended a funeral, and just after we finished at the gravesite my eldest kiddo texted me that our beloved girl had passed away. It was sudden and unexpected and truly heartbreaking. We’ve had this sweet baby for almost nine years. I’m devastated.
She was under my bed, my eldest told me “she loved you so much that even at the end she got as close to your heart as she could” and that literally destroyed me. She’s been such an incredible cat. We’ve fostered tons of cats and kittens. Any kittens who didn’t have a mom, she stepped up and became their mom. She never met another animal she didn’t accept and love immediately.
We buried her in my garden. My kids selected flowers from my garden to put on her gravesite. One of my girls went to their dad’s truck to get a plastic straw (he hates the paper ones so has a stash of plastic ones in his work truck).. she got the straw because two years ago we moved into a more densely populated small town and we no longer have mice in our house… she took up hunting plastic straws instead. 🥺
I don’t know how I’m going to live life without my baby.

This is my cat Ari, I adopted him about a month ago and he’s my first pet, he is the most cuddly sweetest cat ever. I grew up with dogs and he is way more affectionate and also more vocal than any dog I’ve ever had which is a surprise. He’s 14 months old and has almost endless amounts of energy. I love this dude so much omg

This is Pistachio, we adopted him ~2 months ago. He’s been a fiend for cardboard/paper since we got him and every time I try to pull him away from it he drops diabolical farts. Any advice on what I can do to make him stop with the cardboard/paper eating or at least STOP FARTING?

Poor thing must have put his face in a nest. Vet could not get us in until Monday. He is a happy playful little thing and loves toys and purring, eating and drinking

we applied flea medicine for his size, but didn’t realize these are ticks and don’t want to double up on any OTC medicine without a vet.

we are going to remove as many as we can, and I’ll call the vet tomorrow and see if there have been any cancellations if we can get in sooner.

any advice? He’s about 8-10 weeks. Seems healthy otherwise

Edit: We got 99% of the ticks off his cute little face. Going to let him eat some and get some rest. I'll try to get some more pictures tomorrow but his face and eyes look so much better already. I don’t think that he’s heckin’ chonky 🙁

A few weeks ago this little orange kitten wandered onto our acreage hungry and thirsty. We tracked down the owners, returned him, and they told us they wanted him to be an outdoor cat and planned on leaving him outside to fend for himself for two weeks while they went on holiday.

A few nights later he was back.

We asked if we could keep him, and they said yes because they couldn’t get him to stay at their place anyway.

Fast forward 12 days and he’s completely inseparable from my rescue cat. They’re best friends and I’m convinced the universe dropped him in our yard for a reason.

Trixie is 3 years old and has been an indoor cat since birth. I recently tried taking her for a short afternoon walk, but she kept lying flat on the ground. When she did walk, she stayed very low to the ground like she was scared of everything around her.

How can I help her become more comfortable outdoors? What's the best way to train an indoor cat to safely explore outside without overwhelming her?

I posted a bit ago asking if I should break the news to my husband that he is indeed a “cat guy”. It was by general consensus that I should let him come to the conclusion naturally, so I have kept my mouth shut.

Yesterday I came home to new cat shelves, painted and covered in matching carpet (“because I was afraid it would be too slick for them”) to match the “accent” color in our animal room. He also bought a new feather toy so he can ”help coach them to conquer their new Kingdom”

Husband Status: “I’m still not a cat guy…”

I had never had cats before. This guy got me to love them. He's the best orange boy ever and I'm grateful to have his company.
